The NYSC is a good programme that has been abused by public servants, politicians and enterpreneurs. Recently, the insecurity in several parts of the country is a major problem. I served in Baissa, kurmi L.G.A. as a NYSC Doctor. I was the officer in charge of the newly established Cottage Hospital. I had a nice time there. After my service year, I was employed by the Taraba State Health Services Management Board as a medical officer. I subsequently did transfer of service to the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo. However, not everybody is lucky to get a job immediately after service. The other problem is discrimination against corpers. Usually, employers refuse to pay corpers their due allowances. Sometimes they are not given decent accommodation and they are exposed to sexual abuse. Recently, corpers have been kidnapped. With the volatile political situation in which some corpers were killed in the north, the issue of security should be considered seriously before accepting to serve in such areas. Finally, the NYSC offers an opportunity for socio-economic, cultural and political links for the youths. |
wellheads: Fellow country men, |
wellheads: Fellow country men,Your sermon would have been useful if the sect had not stated their motive clearly. You can watch videos of the group's messages on youtube. The sect's leader called the President an infidel in one of the videos. What else do you need to know about the motive of this group? |
The dreaded sect is now fighting a war of survival. The sect is losing political, socio-economic and religious support. The bombing of media houses is a desperate attempt to intimidate journalists and commentators. They have rendered a lot of their people jobless by this desperate act. The people who have supported this sect should search their consciences and see whether any good thing can come from this group. If the gods want to kill a man, they first make him mad. It's not too late to repent, they can seek for unconditional pardon. A word is enough for the wise. |
The CBN governor should be responsible for his actions. His defence is funny. He should learn to acknowledge other writers work. |
The problem of illiteracy in the North is as a result of the people putting their destinies in the hands of other people. Lack of investment in education has impacted negatively in the lives of the people. The people were easily brained washed by the elites and discouraged from seeking western education. This resulted in lack of skilled labour, prevalence of preventable diseases, religious fanatism, forced/teenage marriages, over-population, indolence, poverty and recently terrorism and other criminal activities. GEJ should be commended for doing what their kinsmen denied them. The master-slave ideology should be abolished in the North for the region to make meaningful progress. |
The judge lacks shame. In developed nations he should have apologized to the people and retired voluntarily. He sold his conscience for money. He should pray because the loot may cause confusion in his family when he is no more. The time to repent is now, old folk. |
The response of the Delta State Government spokeman is insulting to nigerians and deltans in particular. It shows that they are all birds of the same feathers. The lest deltans expect from the state government is the beginning of the process of retrieval of the looted funds from UK. Thieves! |
Prof. should apologize to nigerians for saying that the north is gaining nothing from Nigeria. What of the monthly allocations to the northern states from the federation account. How much do they contribute? Most of our leaders are only interested in what they and their kinsmen benefit. He never complained when he was benefitting directly from the goodies. How many farms and small scale businesses did he establish for his people when he was empowered. Prof. should speak for himself and not the entire north. |
The list of northern leaders is made up of retired, old politicians who have had a reasonable share of the national cake. They should not be taken seriously. Where are their governors and legislators? What is their economic plan? Who made the northerners to be poor? Why are they condemning the activities of Boko Haram now? Perhaps their kinsmen are no longer comfortable with their political strategy. The Boko Haram crises cannot be solved by negotiations because of the religious factor and the Al-Quada connection. Terrorism is a crime against humanity. No negotiations with terrorists. |
The conviction of James Ibori in a UK court is a shame to Nigerians. The EFCC should be scrapped. All judiciary officers in the Ministry of Justice and judges who compromised his trial in Nigeria should be sacked. All the banks involved in the transfer of the looted funds abroad should be sanctioned. The nation's economy will collapse if massive looting of public funds is not controlled. |
I'm disappointed in these hoodlooms who call themselves MEND. The game is over. They should find something reasonable and do. Henry Okah should be jailed and his property confiscated. Crime does not pay. |
Nwogbe: Point of correction oga Jona God does not involve himself in politics read your bible wella. The world is govern & control by the wicked one (satan).Brother, you are wrong. God usually allow some persons to be leaders depending on his intentions. Jesus descended into hell and chained satan. The demons are the evil agents. No Man can be king without God allowing him to be. |
~Bluetooth:. I guess you are a fairly educated, myopic fanatic who is carried away be the activities of your mentor. If OBJ had taken the right steps when sharia rule was declared in some states, Boko Haram wouldn't have existed. Very soon Osun State will start breeding Almajiris. A stitch in time saves nine. GEJ should nip the plan in the bud. |
As long as we have thieves as VCs, registrars, bursars and officials of the Ministry of Education, the standard of education will continue to fail. These people have no conscience. They are not bothered about the future of the youths. They are only interested in how much they get from the system. The VC of Uni-Abuja and collaborating principal officers must be sacked for progress to be made. |
For the sake of peace, protection of lives and property especially in the North, Buhari should forsake his ambition. He should not give room to religious fanatics and tribalists to kill and maim innocent citizens again. Because of him, NYSC members from the South were killed and raped by his brothers in the North. He was not even brave enough to call them to order. He has nothing new to offer nigerians. |
A stitch in time saves nine. The governor has committed treasonable felony. He is a religious fanatic and probable sponsor of terrorist acts. A state of emergency should be declared in Osun State. Delays may result in loss of lives and property. |
There is scarcity of obstetricians/gynaecologists in Nigeria. Most of them are men. If women are more comfortable with female gynaecologists they should set up a foundation to train them. You cannot have a choice when you donot have the means. A lot of lives are lost yearly because most pregnant women are managed by untrained personel. The price usually paid for gender and religious sentiments is maternal mortality. |
The burden of HIV/AIDS is mainly in sub-saharan Africa. It is rather surprising that the government and health experts in this region are not investing in research to find a solution to the problem. Bad leadership is a curse to the region. |
Corruption is endemic in government establishments. It has a solid network of criminals. The question this woman has not answered is, what was the motivation for withdrawing huge amounts of money for her bosses? She knew the rules but violated them because she was benefitting from the loot. They have killed a lot of pensioners because of their activities. They should all be convicted and jailed. |
Lawal Kaita is a demented old fellow who has no political relevance. The SSS should screen him for possible association with Boko Haram. The North has not contributed anything useful to this country. Is politics a job with retirement benefits? Nigeria does not lack men of substance. His mentor, Atiku Abubakar cannot be the President of this country. |
Nomadic fulanis should not be allowed to settle in a farming settlement because of their antecedents. War is inevitable if they are not sent out of that community. A stitch in time saves nine. |
Nigerians are embarassed all over the world because of our inept leaders and administrators. The FG and the Post Graduate Medical Colleges should urgently expand training facilities. All Federal Medical Centres that have not commenced residency training of doctors should be compelled to do so. We are a laughing stock because our administrators especially the MDs of FMCs and officials of the Federal Ministry of Health are shortsighted and corrupt. The EFCC should be proactive. |
El-Rufai is a political jobman and an opportunist. We know the stuff they are made of. He and his kindred created Boko Haram to destabilize the system. They are now suffering for their sins. Nothing good will come their way till they repent. A bunch of selfish and hopeless people. |
The FG is taking a step in the right direction. However, scholarships should be provided for indigent students and genuine researches must be conducted in the universities to attract funding. Most of the funds wasted on fraudulent promos and talent hunts by corporate organizations can be more useful in funding researches. |
Ciroma has senile dementia. He has forgetten so soon how he and his brothers mismanaged the country's resources resulting in the present situation. They created Boko Haram. They are now reaping the fruit of their labour. Are they the owners or only shareholders of this country? Why is he complaining now? God will continue to punish them till they change their ways. |
The EFCC and the Judiciary think we are fools. If members of the cabal are above the law, then the EFCC is no longer necessary in the fight against corruption. There is lawlessness in the country because of issues like this. Government officials cannot condemn terrorism, armed robbery, kidnapping etc. when they are actively involved in the looting of the nation's treasury. The only hope is for the masses to pray for God to punish members of the cabal. A revolution is an alternative. |
The retired AIGs are shameless. They want to ridicule the image of the already embrassed Nigeria Police. They are several reasons for them to be retired including collecting bribes openly, aiding and abating terrrorism, kidnapping and several electoral malpractices. The country does not benefit from the funds invested in their training and emoluments. Retired AIGs, there is life after retirement, please leave the Force in peace. |
People like Buhari, El-Rufai, Sanusi etc. should be ashamed of themselves. Initially, they claimed that resource allocation and bad governace was the cause of the Boko Haram menace. Now, it is obvious that Boko Haram is a terrorist group fighting a religious war. History has shown that such groups apart from killing innocent people never achieve anything meaningful. They are associated with poverty, under-development, crime, increase in illiteracy rate and reduced life expectancy. Unless the group is eliminated, cursed is the nation that harbours and tolerates them. |
With this mallam-clown as a leader of the state the menace of Boko Haram and poverty will be endemic in Borno. His principle is clear: Settle the elders and allow the boys to take care of themselves. Really, we have mediocres as leaders |
CNSSL is diversionary in her statement. The issue concerning the wages of her staff has not been addressed. People are desperate for jobs and they can be easily exploited by their employers. The fact that the employees are not complaining does not mean that what the employer is doing is right. Nigerians love to earn a living by exploiting others as middlemen. If they are exploiting the employees, I support the action of the labour union. Let's learn to be our brothers keeper. |
Hon. Friday Itulah has relatives in the Police. He wants to resuscitate them. In which cities of the world he has travelled to did he see Police roadblocks like in Nigeria. The sight of policemen collecting N20 bribes at roadblocks was an eyesore. I suspect that a lot of robbery operations were planned and cordinated at checkpoints. Lets support the new IGP and say no to roadblocks. There should be effective highway patrols and creation of emergency response centres and squads. |
