PoliticsProgressive Changes Obstructed By The Nigerian Government by kodewrita(op): 3:21pm On Aug 25, 2011
I am using this as a list to track the list of grievances against the nigerian system. Essentially a list of cases where the excessively centralized nigerian system is holding back progress in nigeria.

Eko Ile:
Nothing wrong with his assertions, the man basically stated the need for more radio stations and the importance of radio regarding development which is a universal understanding.

Spew your dislike for the man if you must, but crying over what is obviously a sane and rational objective sounds very petty and pointless.
Repeated for emphasis.

He made a perfectly logical comment. We do need more radio stations. in fact we need community radio and its about time the government stops stifling another area of nigerian life.

LagosShia:
Numbers 31:17-18
Now kill all the boys (in Midian). And kill every woman who has slept with a man, 18but save for yourselves every girl who has never slept with a man.

Judges 21:10-12
10So the assembly sent twelve thousand fighting men with instructions to go to Jabesh Gilead and put to the sword those living there, including the women and children. 11“This is what you are to do,” they said. “Kill every male and every woman who is not a virgin.” 12They found among the people living in Jabesh Gilead four hundred young women who had never slept with a man, and they took them to the camp at Shiloh in Canaan.

1 Samuel 6:19
And he smote the men of Bethshemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the LORD had smitten many of the people with a great slaughter.

Luke 19:27

"But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me."

Luke 12:49
"I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!

Matthew 10:34
"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."

2 Peter 2:12
"These false teachers are like unthinking animals, creatures of instinct, born to be caught and destroyed. They scoff at things they do not understand, and like animals, they will be destroyed."

John 2:15
[Jesus] made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.

Psalms 137:8-9
O Babylon, you will be destroyed. Happy is the one who pays you back for what you have done to us.Happy is the one who takes your babies and smashes them against the rocks!

Psalms 139:19-22:
"Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: Depart from me therefore, ye bloodthirsty men. For they speak against thee wickedly, And thine enemies take (thy name) in vain. Do not I hate them, O Jehovah, that hate thee? And am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee? I hate them with perfect hatred: They are become mine enemies."
Those were pre-christian times and they were focused on creating a homeland for the israelites.

Matthew 10:34
"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."

Luke 22:36,38
[Jesus] said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one, " The disciples said, "See, Lord, here are two swords." "That is enough," he replied.

Matthew 10:35
35 For I have come to turn “‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—

Luke 12:50-53
50 But I have a baptsm to undergo, and what constraint I am under until it is completed! 51 Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. 52 From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. 53 They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”
He was prophesying the persecution of people even by their family members because of christianity. Example: Honor killings of family members by muslims because the victims attempted conversion to christianity in pakistan & afghanistan.

PoliticsRe: United States Of Africa - Will It Ever Work ? by kodewrita(m): 2:27pm On Aug 24, 2011
It wont work because it is an idea built on shaky legs. it assumes that africa's problem is a tribal one not one of corruption. You keep assuming that nigeria's problem is the fault of one tribe vying against the other and yet you are so narrow-minded that you cant see that you are imputing a symptom as a cause.

Tribes will not strive against each other if there's no corruption involved. Its not about boundary lines. Thats the same mistake Biafranatics are making.

Our problems at this current stage, will still exist irrespective of whatever political entity we create as long as we dont solve the underlying problem with the rule of law.

Yes, we need to make nigeria strong before we start making noise about african integration.

If our politicians cant tar simple roads, how can we expect them to help realise the fruits of greater african integration?

Ghadaffi thought that up because he couldnt overrun us with his tiny army (yes tiny, we would have made short work of them. Ask Chad what Gen Buhari did to them).

Its a serious waste of useful time.

I would rather we work on integrating transport, electricity and having some common policies. but a single entity? Capital N to the O. NO

In my view, Obama is a disgrace and utter fool for attacking the continent that gave his father his identity and value, obama has gone from hero to zero for suppporting NATO and calling fpr Gadaffi to quit , Can some pls tell me exactly why that fool was given the nobel peace prize for again
He was not elected by africans and they had no hand in raising him. He had an absent father and therefore owes africa no help.

Builder:
So, why is everyone against Gadaffi? Despite the image created for him he has made remarkable advances in human rights and offers the best standards of living for any African nation. Free education, free housing, affordable non GM food, clean water, cheap electricity, affordable loans and it has resisted attempts to sell out Libya to western investors for a long long time because Gadaffi understands the consequences.

One of his sons was in the last couple years starting up democratic institutions which the population could get involved with and the uprising was partly comprised by Muslim fundamentalists from the West of Libya. NATO capitalised on this by demonising Gadaffi and grossly exaggerating stories and even fabricating lots of them about the on going occupation.

All the hope Libya had is now gone, because it now has a puppet regime in the making who are going to sell out Libya's wealth and trade it for "freedom"

Gadaffi was attempting to make a gold backed currency and encouraging other African nations to join him in this move which would mean that we could see better balance and essentially destroy the petrodollar (quite rightfully, the big oil industry players and the governments and investors they support and vice vera only care about profit and will stop at no lengths to secure profit whether it means death or poverty to others).
Said earlier: its a no-brainer. Population of port harcourt and the largest energy resources in africa. He doesnt even have to be an angel for that country to be well equipped. Its like claiming that Brunei is well served because its sultan (one-time richest man in the world) has built hospitals for a country half the size of Ore, Ondo state in population.

the simple fact is that north africa wants democracy and will get it.

1.Nigeria has no foreign policy
2.Governed by a group of people who have dont know african history nor have africans interest at heart nor even know what national interests are ,
our citizens have so much apathy to what goes in parts of nigeria not to talk of the african continent .

SouthAfrica can come out of this with their heads held high even t hough they voted with the un resolution. They have woken up and realised that libya is one of the pieces in the jigsaw. That libya is an example to african countries on how to be self sufficient .
hot air.

So we should all emulate libya and sponsor militant movements in neighbouring countries, kill all dissenters, fund terrorists, kill all hope of tourism by making our countries pariah states and have heads of states with faces like pancake who travel around causing trouble everywhere in the world.

daywatcher:
are we that desperate for Obama to visit our country?

Take an example from China, you keep quiet when matters don't concern you
Ideally I would rather we mostly ignore the whole issue except our own citizens stranded there but its folly for us to totally ignore a war happening less than 2000km from our northern borders. Unrest usually crosses borders (case-in-point refugees flowing into tunisia).

I see more protests ahead.
its a country with half the population of lagos and more oil than Nigeria, they will survive well. besides they dont have to build too many new stuffs(ghadaffi has built all those with their money), they just have to maintain what they have.

And more money coming in soon from tourism just like Egypt's tourism biz.

How can we knock some sense into the heads of the journalists and editors at the Vanguard Newspapers for this report which in my opinion was shabby?

Also, China or no China, when are we going to take a firm stand against the Nigerian saboteurs including the PHCN junior staff who have constituted themselves as a Red Sea against Nigeria's progress? Do you remember their (labour union) seemingly foolish prayer against Prof Barth Nnaji's retention as their boss? Are we not aware of what they have been doing with the pre-paid meters?
May thunder fire all your enemies if they wont repent.

May your children's children recieve favour without asking.

Those idiots have been deliberately frustrating proper metering of electricity. I wish there was a way to push for it( even if we have to be allowed to buy the meters directly from the supplier, its still worth it).

Standard Nigerian Procedure:

2. tyrant gets hosted in secret lodge in mambila or calabar or some kogi hideout.
3. Tyrant enjoys hospitality of nigerian govt (money, women, visits by politicians)
4. US dignitary visits nigeria.
5. Talks ensue and Jonathan/{Insert your favourite candidate} gets convinced.
6. Tyrant packed and sent by DHL to the Hague.

Socialism need not take away one's personal choice.

Without the benefit of Ujaama during Nyerere's reign in Tanzania, chances are that fine country (and her 120-odd tribes) will also be riddled with ethnic strife and corruption on the scale we currently see in Nigeria.

Are you saying there are no alternatives to western model of capitalism?
Is tanzania a first world economy? Has it zoomed to the top in africa in ANY indices? Is it a country to be reckoned with in any sphere of influence? So how can we say that it has worked for them?

They still suffer the very same issues we have. Google it. I am sure you will find the same miasma of hate, despair and social malaise that affects ALL african countries to varying degrees.

They have been quoting ujamaa for years and years. What has come out of it?

will someone please grab a hold of Chicken Little?

The sky's not gonna fall.

The worst that will happen is that nigerians will finally gather the mental impetus to upturn the system and hold people responsible.

We are already approaching that precipice anyway.

But that still does not justify your new-found love for socialism. I detest any system that takes away personal choice to satisfy an idealistic system THAT HAS NEVER WORKED.
