Apology for what now? If you check that post well well, you'll see I was not referring to you. My response was to Ajanlekoko.

Lets stay focused. The guy needs advice and Ive given him mine.
So how do you think your 'advice' will benefit the poster?

You've only succeeded in washing down his hardwork and effort. You also reminded him of the fact that there haters like you out there waiting to frustrate poeple like him who think of coming back home.

I hope you never have to conduct an interview for a returning Nigerian with this kind of biased mindset. It is simply not right.

A full page of nothing but pure beef, hatred, bad belle and jealousy. No words to encourage your brother who chose to return home and contribute.

No need to argue to change that kinda mentality.

Dawg, keep on chasing the Hyena.
FamilyRe: Should A Housewife Demand An Allowance? by kokoye(m): 4:22pm On May 14, 2009
@ post.

You should not have to demand it. I believe a responsible man should trust a responsible wife with all his money and vice versa since they are one and have the same goals.

My wife (who has a job) has two of my credits cards and my atm card.  She also has access to all my financial accounts. She never asked for the cards - she earned them. Cos i know she's either spending to take care of the house, my child or herself to look good and presentable. That way, she never has to ask me for money, although she tells me when she needs to do something major. We do not waste money. And when we want to send money to our extended families, we're both ok with it since we need them to be happy too.

it's all about the relationship you have.
FamilyRe: How Do You Treat Your Maid? by kokoye(m): 3:58pm On May 14, 2009
Really, why treat ur maid badly? this is the same person who prepares your food, lays your bed, takes care of ur kids and stays alone in the house when ur at work??   has it ever occured to you that the maid has your balls and can poison you or ur kids??

it is just like talking trash to the person waiting on you @ a restaurant - she can put all sorts of stuff on ur plate.

Be nice to the person serving you cos they can easily kill you.
CareerRe: Corporate Nigeria Vs Corporate America: Share your experiences please by kokoye(m): 2:24pm On May 14, 2009
Nigerians!!

When are we going to start appreciating each other?? A person struggles to go abrad and improve on his skills or complete his / education after several ASUU strikes and job searches but is then scared to come back to his own land because of haters like you people. And you are the same ones who chased him out of the country in the first place, by looking down on him and not giving him a job after several degrees.

Now he comes back home and ur beefing him, talking about phoney and stuff. And i bet you are also the same ones who will laugh at him if he talks like a typical oshodi man - saying ur sure he went to clean toilets abroad!

One can never satisfy you people.

You guys are also the same people who will be kissing up to an overrated foreign expatriate. Why cant you be happy and wish well for ur own peoplehuh Jealousy of course.

And then you wonder why some naijas decide never to come home - it is because of people like you will are always looking for ways to kill their spirits and bring them down.

@ poster. Keep ur head up high ojare. I have several friends who have moved back home and they are doing extremely well. Like some people rightly mentioned, you might just have to adjust ur mentality to the surrounding environment.

Good luck.

RomanceRe: Mistakes Women Make When Choosing a Man by kokoye(m): 7:39pm On May 05, 2009
So, what about the guys or ladies who have been 'real' for several years and they are still very single? Meanwhile they look all around and see posers hang out with the 'trophies'. The same people who are telling you to be urself will now start laughing at you because you look and stink like a failure after several years of failed hunting.

Hence the reason why most boys switch gear and start lying to get what they want . . it is survival. Like someone rightly said, a lot of happy marriages today would not have been if the jobless guy at the time had told the girl that his parents and siblings live in one room in ajegunle. Crucify me for this but that is the plain fact of life.

If you have been around for a while, you will realise that life is not fair. I know several people who did not get jobs until they started lying on their resume - and theyre doing extremely well now. Same exact thing were talking about here

Bottom line - stop chasing them ladies. Focus on achieving what will make the decent ladies want to be proud of you.

lol

what do you mean that - i rather be in one room and earn millions that be large corporation that pay peanuts. I am sure you know or maybe you dont know, your friend got a job with BAT because she was working in a one room firm i am sure with better quality of work.
No. The one room consulting firm was a one-man business that paid my cousin peanuts . . .less than 10000naira / per month - pls forget about the quality of work, cos there was none!. My cousin got the job cause he wanted to have a job and experience he could put on his resume . . and I'm sure he gave his best as well, despite the lack of quality.

My point is (in case you dont know) he could have turned down the one-room offer and might still be in the job search right now. At times, we need to get off our high horses.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: How To Get A Job Without Years Of Experience? by kokoye(m): 8:36pm On Apr 24, 2009
The list goes on.

I have a relative who got his HND from Yabatech . . he got a job at a one room consulting firm while doing his PGD. He is now a manager with British American Tobacco.

I left the comfort of being a network engineer in Nigeria to do my masters here in the U.S. I did security work at night and went to school during the day. I could not get a job after school so I started doing customer service with several companies until I got into the one in my chosen career - one of the largest telecoms companies here.

By God's grace I am now a consultant with the same company - the only black man in the Knowledge Management team of 39.

I did not have to know anybody to get to this stage, and it wasnt all smooth as well. But keep ur eyes on the prize and you will get there.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: How To Get A Job Without Years Of Experience? by kokoye(m): 5:14pm On Apr 24, 2009
At times we need to start from lower levels and work our way up. I know this is not a widely acceptable method (especially after obtaining multiple masters' degrees) but it is the simple and honest truth.

It is always easier to get a job while you have one.

So, if you have to, get an entry level position and your skill will be noticed and appreciated, or simply work your way up.

Take this advice from a living witness. My first job after NYSC paid 7000naira / month a new Internet company. In three months, I got a job in the same field that paid me 45000 naira / month. This way all because of the experience I'd gained from the previous job. This was way back in 1998.

Goodluck.
BusinessRe: What Does Money Mean To You? by kokoye(m): 4:25pm On Apr 23, 2009
Money might not completely buy love, but it sure encourages and sustains it. Noawadays, if spent and managed wisely, money answereth almost all things.

and there's this yoruba saying: Agidi talaka - a poor man says he doesnt want to be rich cos he's always been poor and cant see a way out anyways.

When ur rich and you misbehave, the world will call you a radical or a maverick.

But when a poor man misbehaves, he's a mad man. grin

TV/MoviesRe: Funke Akindele Is Africa's Best Actress: What Do You All Think? by kokoye(m): 8:46pm On Apr 16, 2009
Adrian brody won an oscar for being a sufferhead pianist in a boring movie and you did not complain.

Halley berry won hers for acting like a LovePeddler and nobody said a word.

Even Denzel won an oscar for being a bad boy and you all praised him.

!!!

How many of those 'beautiful actress' could have become a 'Jenifa' and made it look that real? maybe you ought to answer that question.

And like someone mentioned, this is not a lifetime award - she went out of her comfort zone and became the best actress in 2008. That does not mean she's the best of all time. Someone won it last yr. Funke Akindele got it this yr. Someone else will get it next yr.

And you dont have to know who she is - I'm sure a lot of poeple do not know Oscar winners until after they have won. A lot of people celebrating Jennifer Hudson now laughed at her on American Idol.

Try to get better at what you do, pray to get recognized for it at the right time and stop hating.
BusinessRe: GT Bank And Arbitrary Charges: 2500 Naira For A Letter! by kokoye(m):
These are some of the reasons why it is a tough decision to relocate from the U.S to Naija - these services are free in the U.S. But in my dear country, you pay for everything and still they treat you like they're doing you a favor. I understand stuff is expensive due to the lack of basic necessities but I believe we all deserve to be treated like human beings. Send out a decent communication to your valuable customers before imposing tarriffs on them to avoid threads like these

ADEOMOLE:
You can complain to your bank manager. Ask him/her where it was written that letters are charged @N2,500.
Also that you were not told of the charges at the time you were given the letter.
So - what will happen? they'll ridicule you, tell you you're wasting their valuable time then beg you to take ur cheap savings somewhere else. The only choice you have is to sue - but then, do you want to hire a lawyer because of 2500? grin lawyer fees sef na 50000

God help us all.
TravelRe: Surviving In Nigeria On N80,000 A Month by kokoye(m): 8:23pm On Apr 10, 2009
It is up to you I think. I'm sure there are husbands and fathers who make less than 80grand per month even in Lagos and they are still alive. So you are definately in a better situation as you have a house and no liability. Your priorities will determine ur expenses.

Good luck

I really cant place DeReloaded ojare. it is always safer to steer clear of ladies who think other ladies are being oppressed - cos you can never win. it aint worth it

Anyway, I was not being defensive. I was only replying to some who think cooking is regarded as a role for African women - like the men force them to do it, or they cook to make their men happy.

There are no roles in my house. But there are some thing I will not let my wife do: throw out the garbage; and walk the house to make sure all is well before going to bed.
