The British-born Tiwa Savage couldn't have made that ignorant comment about having the sex tape wiped off from phones and other mobile devices with her level of global exposure.

Conversely, if she did make that comment, then she's been scammed by the so-called IT expert into parting with money. Period.

Tiwa's sensational interview could also be a case of trying to subtly keep her in people's memories prior to the screening of her new movie. There's money to be made... Rinse and repeat.

If your parents are alive then they can stand in for the child applying by providing their own proof of entitlement to Nigerian citizenship. Children, even when adults, qualify automatically for Nigerian passports through parents.

Thosands of Nigerians use this route for their children who are born and bred in the UK and never set foot in Nigeria. "Ways and means" in public administration and political leadership can be used to secure unconventional solutions.

That will always apply here because this is not a development targeted at legitimate Nigerians who, by 'ways and means' processes of elimination, will succeed proving they are Nigerians.

This is a special exercise with a security underpinning for a Country fighting dangerous insecurity tied to foreign incursion of vary dangerous criminals.

It is those people this is targeted at. Even with corruption, many of them will not be able to prove genuine and verifiable connection to Nigeria as legit Nigerians would be able to do in the end.
True that.

Passport Renewal: Proof of citizenship mandatory – NIS

By Folashade Ogunrinde April 20, 2024 Reading Time: 2 mins read

In the new regime, part of the requirements for renewal of passports include provision of a National Identification Number, old passport number, birth certificate, and local government certificate of indigeneship.

The Nigeria Immigration Services (NIS) has defended its latest policy requiring proof of citizenship from Nigerians seeking to renew their passports.

In a post on X, the NIS stated that all documents required during the process of passport issuance are backed by the Nigerian constitution and the Ministry of Interior.

The immigration service explained that “for your claim of being a Nigerian citizen to hold water, there has to be a document that ties you to a local government (indigenous area) within the country.”

CrimeRe: I Collected Dollars In Cash For Emefiele, Dispatch Rider Tells Court by Konquest: 10:23am On Apr 24, 2024
Kuginzi:

Explains how he picked up $1m, $850,000, $750,000, $400,000 for ex-CBN gov

…says Emefiele never rewarded him, case adjourned to April 29

A dispatch rider, Monday Osazuwa, on Friday, narrated to the Special Offences Court in Lagos how the embattled former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele, instructed him on different occasions to collect the sum of $3m cash in tranches.

Osazuwa, who was led in evidence in chief by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), told the court that he had been a dispatch rider at Zenith Bank since 2001, before joining the CBN as a contract staff member in 2014.

The witness said Emefiele was the Managing Director of Zenith Bank while he worked there as a dispatch rider.

According to Osazuwa, he knew Emefiele, who was his boss while in Zenith Bank, before he later joined him in the CBN.

The witness, who testified before Justice Raman Oshodi, said he was later appointed as a senior supervisor (full-time) in charge of recording and filing documents while working in the CBN Governor’s office in Lagos.

Osazuwa said, “I was still working in the governor’s office when I was appointed a full-time staff member, and we usually communicated through WhatsApp and email.

"I performed as a senior supervisor, recording and filing with other official roles.

“I could recall that, in 2020, when he was outside Lagos, Emefiele called me and gave me a number that a man had something I would collect from him, and that the man would give me the number of another person.

When I got to the man’s office, I was given an envelope. I counted the money (in it), and was told to give it to my boss.”

The witness further told the court that Emefiele usually collected money alone whenever he was in Lagos.

According to him, any time the defendant was not around, Emefiele would tell him (Osazuwa) to give the money to the second defendant, Henry Omoile.

Osazuwa added that Emefiele sent him to MINL Limited when he was with Zenith Bank.

He added, “This company is situated at Isolo. The first defendant(Emefiele) do send me to collect cheques from the company from Mr. Monday, and when I collect the cheque from Mr. Monday, I would give it back to Emefiele, and he would lodge the money into the account of Dummies Oil and Gas.”

Osazuwa further stated that Emefiele’s co-defendant, Henry Isioma-Omoile, lived in the residence of the former CBN governor.

He stated that when he collected money for his boss (Emefiele), he would take it to his residence at Iru Close, Ikoyi, Lagos.

"Whenever I received the money and took it to my boss’ residence, Mr Emefiele would tell me to give it to the second defendant (Omoile) whenever he was not home.

“I did not keep a record of the transactions, because he instructed me that I should collect the money and bring it to his house.

"I did not keep a record of the transactions, because he instructed me that I should collect the money and bring it to his house.

“The highest amount I collected was $1m, all in cash. Some weeks later, the businessman also called me, and I collected $850,000, $750,000, and $400,000 in cash in different tranches.

"I have never been rewarded, paid, or given anything. I was doing it out of faithfulness, and he knows it, but he never for once said, ‘Take this’,” the witness said.

While being cross-examined by the defence counsel, Mr. Abdulakeem Labi-Lawal, the witness confirmed to the court that he had been working with the defendant since 2002.

Earlier, Justice Oshodi had granted Emefiele bail in the sum of N50m.

He is being tried for alleged abuse of office and fraud to the tune of $4.5bn and N2.8bn.

The judge admitted Emefiele to N50m bail with two sureties in like sum.

He held that the sureties must be gainfully employed and have three years of tax payment with the Lagos State Government.

Oshodi also said that the sureties must show proper identification and be registered in the Lagos State Bail Management System.

The judge also said that he was satisfied with the bail conditions of N1m earlier granted to Emefiele’s co-defendant, Henry Isioma-Omoil, who is standing trial in another charge before Justice Olufunke Sule-Hamzat of the Yaba High Court.

Oshodi, however, said that the bail documents must be transferred to the Special Offences Court and registered in the Lagos State Bail Management System.

The EFCC arraigned Emefiele on Monday, April 8, on 23 counts bordering on abuse of office, accepting gratifications, corrupt demand, receiving property fraudulently obtained, and conferring corrupt advantage, while his co-defendant was arraigned on three counts bordering on acceptance of a gift by agents.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Justice Oshodi also refused an oral application for adjournment, which was moved twice by defence counsel, Labi-Lawal, to cross-examine the witness.

The judge adjourned the case till April 29, 2024, for trial and the hearing of an application for a closed section.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has frozen over 300 accounts linked to illicit foreign exchange (FX) trading.

Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, Ola Olukoyede, EFCC’s chairman, said the agency secured a court order to freeze the accounts.

“We got an order to freeze those accounts imagine what would have happened if we didn’t seize those accounts,” he said.

“There are people in this country doing worse than Binance,” he said.

Olukoyede said over $15 billion passed through one of the platforms in the last year, which was not regulated by financial regulators.

The development comes a day after Kenya’s police service reportedly arrested Nadeem Anjarwalla, the Binance regional manager for Africa.

On March 22, Anjarwalla escaped from an Abuja guest house where he and Tigran Gambaryan, his colleague, had been kept by the federal government.

Anjarwalla was said to have escaped after guards led him to a nearby mosque for prayers during the Ramadan fast.

Anjarwalla and Gambaryan were charged with tax evasion and money laundering by the federal government. The duo were arrested and detained on February 28.

On February 27, 2024, Olayemi Cardoso, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), said $26 billion passed through Binance Nigeria from unidentified sources in one year.

Cardoso said the apex bank was collaborating with different agencies, including the EFCC, the police, and the office of the national security adviser (NSA) to tackle illicit financial flows in the country.

If some Edo people call him a Yoruba person , they wouldn't be completely wrong.

Let's just keep it at that.
Props to you for the deep insights here.
~~~~~~~~
The offspring of Ogunfunmire were involved in a rumble for the Oba’s stool. Ashipa, a Yoruba Awori whose son Ado became the Oba of Lagos was supported by the Benin royalty whose agents at that time were on frequent visits to Lagos. We should take not a significance event at this time. The title of Ashipa was indeed Oloriogun, captain of the battalion which was purely a Yoruba title.
The Oba of Benin also deployed soldiers to fortify the Ashipa Army while the Itsekiri were said to have provided the naval fighter force in support of Ashipa.
The Benin officers were led by Eletu Odibo who was a member of the Akarigbere class of Lagos White Cap Chiefs. Ashipa was believed to have lived between 1570 and 1630. He belonged to the Olofin ruling house, Ado his son lived and ruled Lagos between 1630 to 1669, Gabaro (1669-1704), Eletu Kekere(1704) who died in the year he was crowned, Akinsemoyin (1704-1749), Ologun Kutere(1773-1749), Adele Ajosun(1775-1780), Osinlokun (1780-1819).
At this time Lagos was punctured by political and administrative turmoil. For instance, Oba Ajosun was dethroned and died in 1837, so also was Akintoye who was dethroned but later came back to rule Lagos. A significant aspect often ignored was that there was no Oba of Lagos until 1630. That was 500 years after Oranmiyan had founded Benin and left the territory to establish the Oyo Empire. This meant that for 500 years, Lagos had no royal network with Benin whereas the Awori had lived, thrived and prospered on their land.
The other critical point to note is that the Benin soldiers that came to support Ashipa were accepted in Lagos obviously because they were descendants of Oranmiyan, and secondly because both Ogunfunmire, Ashipa and the first Oba of Benin came from Ile-Ife. It is also a known fact of history that ancient Oba of Benin were buried in the sanctuary of their forefathers in Ile-Ife. That tradition only changed not too long ago.
Recently, when the Ooni of Ife was hosting the Oba of Benin at the Ife Palace, he had told his guest that he was prepared to take him to where his ancestors were buried.
What are the reasons for the current misinterpretation of Lagos’ history? First I blame the political class and the mainstream Yoruba cultural fronts like the Afenifere leadership that emerged after Chief Obafemi Awolowo for their introverted political culture. For too long, unlike in the days of Awo, the ethnic and cultural groups outside Yorubaland, affiliated with Yoruba heritage have been ignored in all spheres, the ancient nexus severed, thereby widening the gap between generations of Edo and Yoruba people.
Lessons should be learnt from the practice of our forebears who consistently sustained and nurtured the relationship between Yoruba and their cultural and political frontiers.
For instance, at the formation of Egbe Omo Oduduwa in the 1940s branches emerged in Sokoto, Enugu, Bukuru, Gusau and Zaria. Ikot Ekpene was the headquarters of the Egbe in Eastern Nigeria and Zaria in the North.
In February 1951 Chief Obafemi Awolowo led the visitation of the Egbe to Eastern Nigeria, they called on Azikiwe’s father at Onitsha who blessed them. They met the Obi of Onitsha who told them his ancestors came from Ile-Ife. Obi of Onitsha then donated to the Egbe’s Endowment fund. They met with Ozumba Mbadiwe at Aba who described the Yoruba as “the most constructive ethnic group” in Nigeria. He donated $10.10p to the Egbe. In Port Harcourt, J.N Odogu who led the Igbo State Union described the Egbe as “the most powerful organization in the country today.” The generation gap has led to isolation, then exclusion and now resistance.
Yes it has come a long way in Edo historically no one is disputing that, but as you can also see, their Ife links are very obvious for everyone to see. All his Ogbebor n'Usen family side have Yoruba names. Ogbebor left Usen for Benin with the sanction of Olu Awure in 1819. He prospered and became a big family there (Infact, one of the biggest and most influential in Benin) and got chieftaincy from Oba. Anyways, their family is an example of one of those family clans in Benin that bridge both sides. I won't be surprised if they greet Lauhe.
Usen (Ode Awure) in Ovia South West LGA of Edo State is a Yoruba community that was founded by Oranmiyan's older brother from Ife (Ufe). They speak primarily a Yoruba dialect and Edo, meaning they are bilingual.
HealthRe: Living As A Disabled Person In Nigeria Is Hard, Scary – Debola Daniel by Konquest: 6:51pm On Apr 23, 2024
Former governor, Gbenga Daniel's physically challenged son, Debola Daniel, shares his story about living in Nigeria as a disabled person.
https://twitter.com/DebolaDaniel/status/1609868053780496387?s=20&t=-j-ZvgY2XH3s3HJvR3K5BQ
To be a disabled Nigerian is a lonely, scary and isolated place. I have often struggled to articulate my Nigerian experience in a way people could understand.
There’s never a place for you. Not in the infrastructure, not in social settings and increasingly not in society. It’s a feeling of constantly being made to act grateful for the being included as an afterthought.
Everything in my life requires pre-thought and planning. If I get to Maison Fahrenheit and the lift isn’t working. Where do I go? If I get to The House/Danfo Bistro and I get met with endless steps. What do I do? If I buy a table at a concert and can’t get in, what do I do?
How do I let my friends know that it’s cool, we’d catch up another time. How quickly can I mask my disappointment and sadness with “omo it’s cool”? Can I handle my driver telling me that Gods time is best and not to be so downcast as we drive back home?
I cannot count how many times I’ve been made to feel less human at Murtala Mohammed Airport. To feel like a ‘thing’ to be handed off to the next person down the line. Like a suitcase.
“Put him there” “park am for there” “can he talk” “sign this for him”. It’s endless and incessant. Your voice is constantly being stripped away. Your presence eroded. You know the ironic thing?
I’m a rich, powerful Nigerian. Someone that my mere surname commands respect. I am the privileged few. I am the disabled Nigerian that they should respect. The one they recognise. The one they must treat well.
If my voice and my very being can be marginalised, what then of the voice of the average disabled Nigerian out there? What then of the Nigerian who doesn’t have the power to walk into a location with an army of armed escorts?
I have been to hospitals that have flights of stairs to get into. I have been to banks without ways to get in. Residential buildings are inaccessible. Pavements cannot be wheeled upon independently. As a fiercely independent person, I can’t live a life in Nigeria without help.
This lack of inclusion, the lack of access and the systemic exclusion from society has been simmering inside me for years. It’s strange that what has tipped me over the edge was reading about the events that occurred at that concert last night.
I saw clips and read tweets from the safety of my couch and was horrified at how much planning I would have had to undertake to attend that concert yet still end up unprepared for that.
How would I have gotten in? How would I have gotten out? Where could I go pee? If it’s true that they were shooting tear gas and there was a stampede, what would I have done?
Then I realised that I’m going to the same artiste’s concert in London in a few months and I have zero of those worries. I am privileged. I can just attend in London.
But don’t I owe it to the average disabled Nigerian to say that with the global visibility Afrobeats is getting, maybe, just maybe someone will remember that disabled Nigerians exist?
That we have a right to be included in the planning and execution of the vision of Nigeria. Not just at an accessible level but at all levels?
I would like to one day see accessibility and inclusion made a priority not just as an afterthought. I deserve to see myself as part of Nigeria.
To see myself being included in planning and infrastructure. To see myself positively in Nigerian stories not just as the cripple that Patience Ozokwor poisoned on Nollywood. I am more that a stereotype. I am human. And it’ll be nice if you saw that too.
https://twitter.com/DebolaDaniel/status/1609987182889951236
Bump.
A dejavu scenario. 'Debola Daniel...
Adebola's thoughts are very deep here... They literally create a powerful imagery in the human mind.
All housing plans or designs in Nigeria must be vetted in order to create access for physically challenged folks just like in other countries that have people who are imbued with critical thinking. It's time to keep that in mind when building the next residential building, mall or office complex .
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has instituted a further crackdown on currency speculators and cryptocurrency platforms manipulating the naira, Sunday PUNCH has learnt.
Impeccable sources within the commission said the EFCC was not only going after Binance but every cryptocurrency platform and others involved in the manipulation of the Nigerian foreign exchange market.
A source said, “The EFCC is going after all currency speculators to stabilise Nigerian forex.”
Another source noted, “The commission is not only going after Binance but other cryptocurrency compliance and exchanges, this has been helping in stabilising the market.”
Reacting to the development when contacted, the spokesperson for the EFCC, Dele Oyewale, said the commission was doing everything lawful to ensure sanity within the country’s forex market.
“The commission is doing everything within the ambit of the law to ensure that there’s sanity in Nigerian the foreign exchange market,” he said.
Meanwhile, some foreign exchange market analysts have stated that the dollar rose slightly against the naira between Wednesday and Friday due to interbank moves of the commercial banks.
A money market analyst, Agba Akin, had on Friday posted a snapshot of the P2P trading platform on X, saying, “Since Wednesday, the dollar has started increasing again at BDC, here is why. The emergency lovers of Binance are back speculating on other P2P apps.
“They’ll keep adding N50 every day until they take it back to 2,500 which was their initial plan, and recoup their loss. CBN, act now.”
Reacting, a BDC operator identified as Yasir Arafat Jubril@oil_shaeikh said, “The problem with speculative manipulation is even if CBN keeps bidding dollars to BDC at a low rate, the prevailing speculated rate will lord over the market and you’ll be forced to sell at that price to keep afloat. CBN must crack down on all speculative platforms.
“They don’t know anything; if we talk, they’ll say we are aboki BDC behind Nigeria’s problem. Over 40 years that BDC has been operating, we never manipulated the naira by adding 50 to N100 a day till P2P ojukokoro boys came with their lack of fear of God.”
Speaking with Sunday PUNCH, the Adhoc Committee Chairman of the Association of Bureaux De Change Operators of Nigeria, Almustapha Muhammed, said while it was true that the dollar gained during the week, the BDCs were not behind the currency gaining as it resulted from certain moves of the commercial banks.
He said, “Some people just want to put it at the BDCs. Actually what happened was that the dollar rose from the interbank rates and not from the BDCs. BDCs are parallel markets, while the banks are connected with the Federal Government’s official rate.
“CBN is giving us dollars at N1,101, but some commercial banks are doing interbank conversions. They convert from their accounts – domiciliary accounts and naira accounts. But the parallel markets are doing lower than the Federal Government.”
Speaking further, he said, “Last week, the CBN gave the dollar at N1,101, but the parallel market sold at N950. That was what even made some BDCs not bid for a collection of dollars at CBN, because when you collect that dollar from CBN, automatically you run at a loss because we sell at N950. Unfortunately for the dollar, banks are now doing their interbank.
“That was what made people rush into the parallel market and buy it (the currency) at the lower rate and then deposit it in the commercial banks, automatically making N20, N40, N60 gains, because when you deposit your dollar into your domiciliary account and ask for its conversion into naira, automatically, you are making that difference. That is exactly what happened.”
In his reaction, an economist identified as Opeoluwa on X said, “On this issue, I reached out to a source in the relevant security agency on this matter. I was reliably informed that it has been flagged as ‘imminent danger’ and it’s being looked into.
“I am told that they (the security agency) may have to extend their hands to them, just like they did to Binance.”
When our correspondent contacted the Head of Strategic Communication at the Office of the National Security Adviser, Zakari Mijinyawa, he did not pick up calls.
Your house, your rules.
If you want input from strangers, that means that you are indecisive about your life.
You know your wives and what dynamics will work for all of you. What works for a peaceful home may not work for a toxic home.
/
You made some valid points there but it's also good to get a second and even third opinion from folks and professionals alike in any field of human endeavor.
Then a man "walking" in his shoes can finally make up his mind (even though he already has his own initial ideas on what to do) based on thorough scrutiny of feedbacks so as NOT to get blindsided. So far, he's got a lot of good advice on this family-related issue and a significant number of men here have given very succinct feedbacks.
I can see the OP going far in his long-term polygamous relationships because he is NOT afraid to ask for feedback and he's willing to learn while not compromising the unity of his children who he wants to see grow up together as brothers and sisters.
That is my plan. There will be the main building where I live and each wives' building next to me. Here is a rough sketch to explain what I mean
That's an impressive building plan you have there.
I remember that Chief M.K.O. Abiola's most senior wives (Simbiat, Kudirat, Doyin, etc) all lived in different wings of apartments located within the same premises where his luxury mansion was located off Toyin Street in Ikeja, Lagos, back in the day (1980s and 1990s).
So, you're good to go.
I'm building my home for me and my two wives.
Each wife will have her bedroom.
Now, I am wondering whether I should build one or two kitchen.
What do you think?
Input from (current or future) polygamists and women would be appreciated.
That's not debatable. You should have two different kitchens if you live in a semi-detached bungalow or semi-detached duplex. Most modern women like to have their cooking utensils and soup pots well protected.
So, each of your wives would definitely like to have some space when it comes to culinary affairs from the kitchen to the dining table.
A disturbing video of a female student being slapped repeatedly by her female secondary school mates is circulating online.
Nobody tried to help or stop the rude students. The recurring theme was about a boyfriend. It’s an expensive school so the assumption is rich kids can do whatever they want and get away scot free
Kindly push this to the front page until justice is obtained for the female child.
