TV/Movies › Re: What I Think After Watching "A Tribe Called Judah" by Konquest: 6:40pm On Jan 28, 2024
Printme:
The movie was cool. A Nollywood movie I actually enjoyed in a long while.

At the same time, I think it reflects on a very key aspect of life that most people never give much thoughts to.

That is, a male child will always need their father.

Regardless of how much a woman will love the male child, they will always need their father to be good influences in the society.

She gave birth to five children and all their fathers were absent. It's a lesson for women. Once you spoil your life, men will continue to chop and go.

No man will ever want to settle and train another man's child.

It doesn't matter how much you try to manipulate them with the "it's a mistake" or "a real man ought to take care of another man's child"

It won't work. They will just chop you and go and probably add their own seeds since you want to be unfortunate that way.

Also, statistics shows that male children raised by single mothers tends to be the "bad eggs" in the society.

And we all saw that in the movie. Not even one of the children turned out fine for the society. Instead, they were filled with that selfish love that put only their needs into consideration and never the needs of others.

And that's the kind of love women can give their children. Only a father's disciplinary love tells the child that other's needs are important.

It is the father that seeks to make sure the male child, no matter how strong he is, he never used that strength for his own benefits alone.

If she had thought the children to protect others and not just herself, they probably would have turned out fine.

Overall, I think the movie was entertaining but the lessons were still there except you choose to ignore it.
Raising a child is the duty of both parents. But in the absence of one or both parents, extended family members and guardians are the NEXT in line to fill that void.

In any event, I have seen many women raise their children single-handed or with the support of a respectable father-figure like an uncle in the lives of the kids, most especially the boys (in the absence of the biological father's). In the event that the woman has NO clear career path she is into, then money or sustainable income becomes a challenge and things go south on the home front for the kids who then become rebellious, skip school, pilfer items, and gravitate towards bad friends and recreation drugs or hard drugs.

Lol... I haven't seen the movie to know how he came to his conclusions. Also, I'm not sure what he intends to achieve with that analysis/advice. However, it's not uncommon for people to view or analyze situations, events, stories, movies, etc. through the lense of thier preconceived mindset. One doesn't need to be a philosopher to know that his so-called lessons are narrow and skewed towards convincing women to take things that men wouldn't touch with a six feet pole.

NL guys are always quick to advise women, but 99% of the time, this is always geared towards women widening the window of thier tolerance to accommodate more misgivings from men. I don't have any issues with tolerance provided it goes both ways, but that's hardly ever the case. The OP conveniently ignored the fact that a lot of women lose thier husbands due to domestic violence, cheating or even death. Is he now suggesting that these women should stick to thier husbands and take it all? Ok, let's assume he's only advising those "bad" ladies that leave thier spouses for the silliest reasons, why doesn't he, in that same breath, advise the men that kick out thier wives with thier actions? Why doesn't he tell them that thier children might suffer the consequences? Why doesn't he advise the men that mess around with the hearts of these single mothers just to "chop and go"? Why is he making it as these things are men's birthright and the women are the ones that have to alter thier ways to accommodate the nature of men? I mean, he just pointed out how mean some men can be, but it's the women he's advising to change.

Anyway, it's true that fathers play a big role in the lives of thier kids. This is not because a woman cannot bring the finance, sternness or authority the stereotypical man is known for but because raising a child is simply a difficult task for one person regardless of gender. However, we must never lose sight of the fact that a child raised by a single parent is better off than one raised in a violent home and in many cases, they do end up well. So sometimes, parting ways could be in the best interest of the kids.
Very well said.

Yeah, corruption exists in Brazil just like you said among some law enforcement agents and the drug problems in the Favelas is severe with people getting shot in gang wars and prostitution is rife among female hard drugs users.

It's just that Brazil is a member of BRICS and one would expect high standards from them.
Since military rule ended in the 1980s in Brazil, they have made a lot of improvements in their society and the gradual regression is a disappointment. In the last over 20 years, I've lost count of how many of these hard drugs couriers from the South East have been arrested for ingesting and moving cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine from Brazil to Nigeria and Ethiopia by air.

Don't the Brazilians have body scanners at their airports? How come these boys keep ingesting drugs in Brazil but end up getting caught on arrival in Nigeria? Maybe Brazil has an agreement to tip off other countries' drug agencies about hard drugs couriers so that these criminals can be arrested on arrival at the destination airport.

The Udechukwu Ekene Theophilus drug courier guy who was arrested at Murtala Muhammed International Airport had even successfully flown from Brazil to Addis Ababa where he excreted some of the cocaine, before boarding a connecting flight to MMIA on Lagos State.

We urgently need to decriminalize cannabis.

The only reason we agree Cannabis is illegal is because Oyinbo told us so. After spending millions of $ on desensitization, the same Oyinbo is now making billions of $ in internally generated monies from cannabis legalization. The shackles of slavery and colonialism are still very much around our necks.

Meth, Cocaine, Crack, I can understand. Those are synthetic compounds made inside a lab. Cannabis is natural. Cannabis is wonderful. The still sell snuff powder but it is cannabis that is illegal. If we're not still modern slaves, we should have legalized before Holland sef
True that. But cannabis farms must be regulated so as to get the benefits in terms of medical treatments. One patented cannabis-based drug is being used to manage the tremor symptoms of Parkinson's.

Thanks for the feedback.

So, Golden Sella is N18,500 for 5kg. Things at MMA2 can be a bit pricey though. Comparison shopping can also help in getting cheaper basmati rice. Shopping malls such as Shoprite offer some cost-savings on a lot of things because they get their supplies at wholesale prices from the manufacturers. Coincidentally, I've had Golden Basmati Sella Rice as well and 5 kg of that will serve about 25 people. It's the nutritional benefits that keeps some of us folks eating basmati rice.

An X user, Chude Nnamdi, who goes by the name @chude__ shared this story

It breaks my heart to see a former Nigerian Tennis Champion in the street like this 💔

I looked up Tanya Okpala and Jacqueline Okwueze (the names mentioned) and they show up as Nigerian tennis prodigies who also represented Africa. Jacqueline was also a Lawyer in Texas.
Why she is now commonly seen on Abakaliki Street, Awka, wandering until nightfall is anyone's guess.

For me, three things that stood out in the video are:

1. She appears mentally unbalanced. In this video. That makes one wary of the percentage of truth in what she says. It could be concluded that she confirmed to drug use to keep her in check.

2. She spoke of being abused and racially profiled. Such things must not be allowed to stand. Individuals and affiliated agencies should please look into this.

3. She needs help. In her own case, she also needs who will manage the help she gets as going by this video, I don't think she can do that on her own. Anambra State Government should please lead the charge.

I almost shed tears listening to her. My best guess is drug abuse played a part in all of these. It's something we all must fight to a manageable level.
I remember the younger Tanya Okpala (born in 1982) and her sister Katya Okpala from back in the day. I hope she get's help fast from her family members and the society in that state where she is located before she get's sexually molested further on the streets by some depraved people.

She must be taken for mental therapy and drug detox ASAP. Her memory and ability to recall names and past events is simply near-perfect but Tanya deflected or avoided answering the guy's question on whether she is on recreational drugs.

I must commend the guy in the video for asking her intelligent questions otherwise we would NEVER have known in that video that the well-spoken lady in the video is the former 1990s kid lawn tennis player, Tanya Okpala.

The iconic veteran movie producer, Dr. Ola Balogun was born in Aba to Yoruba parents back in the 1940s (his father was a lawyer then). So, naturally, he said he was told that the first language he started speaking was the Ibo language. This affinity to Aba led him into producing "Amadi," the FIRST ever Ibo language movie to be subtitled in the English language and the movie premiered in 1975 in Lagos State with Justice Adefarasin the then Attorney General of Lagos State and Governor Mobolaji Johnson of Lagos State in attendance.

I have used Dr. Ola Balogun as a case study to let you know that if you live in Enugu with your kids, then they will naturally speak Ibo picked from school friends and the streets.

Chicken curry sauce is one of those rich and delicious sauces made with chicken, corn flour, chicken broth and mixed veggies, it is super tasty and it goes well with anything staple (rice Potatoes, spaghetti, macaroni).

This chicken sauce is best prepared with boneless chicken; however, you can boil your whole chicken and then take out the bones if you can’t fine chicken breast near you.

Chicken curry sauce will never disappoint you no matter how you prepare it. The steps below show you how to prepare chicken curry sauce with mixed vegetables watch the video for detailed explanation also share with your loved ones.

Ingredients for chicken curry sauce

• 1 kg chicken breast
• 1 cup carrots, chopped
• ½ cup peas
• 1 cup green beans
• 2 medium onions
• 2 medium tomatoes
• 4 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 tables spoon thyme
• 1 ½ tables spoon curry powder
• 3 scotch bonnets peppers
• 3 stock chicken tock cubes
• 2 tablespoons corn starch

1. Rinse carrots, green beans, bell peppers and onions, slice/chop them into nice shapes and set aside.
2. Rinse chicken into a wide pot, season it with curry, thyme, ½ parts of onion, pepper, garlic and salt.
3. Add water to slightly cover the chicken and place on high heat to cook until tender
4. While the chicken is cooking, dissolve the corn flour with a little water (you want it runny like custard) and set aside.
5. Once the chicken is cooked, separate it from the broth and cut into smaller pieces, (you can try pulling the flesh from the bones if you
don’t like it with bones).
6. Place a pan on heat, add 3 tablespoons of cooking oil to it and add onions, garlic and sauté for 30 seconds or until fragrant.
7. Add the chopped tomatoes and sir-fry for 2minutes until soft, add the chopped carrots, green beans and cook for 2 minutes.
8. Add the bell peppers, green peas and stir-fry until the vegetables are all soft. Season the veggies with 1 stock cube, salt, thyme and 1
teaspoon of curry powder and stir the content properly to combine.
9. Leave the content to cook for few minutes on medium heat, bring the chicken stock into it, you can increase it with water if your stock is
small and bring to a boil.
10. Return the cooked chicken to the sauce and add the dissolved corn flour to the content and stir well, the sauce will begin to thicken as it
boils. Lower the heat and leave it to simmer slowly while you serve.
11. Chicken curry sauce goes well with white rice you can serve it as you like. Bon Appétit

Companion planting is an organic and ecological farming principle that involves planting several plants that are beneficial to each other in close proximity. The plants are supposed to aid each other in pest and disease control, uptake of nutrients, shading, pollination, catch crop, and as a sacrificial crop.

In companion farming this are set of companion plants.

-Carrots and garlic – control carrot root fly.
-Beans and fennel – control aphids in beans.
-Broad bean and snow peas – control leaf miner from snow peas.
-Maize and climbing beans- maize provides bean with a trellis for climbing.
-Borage and straw berry-effective pollination of strawberries.
-Hot Peppers and tomatoes- repels most pests invading tomatoes.
-Geranium and kales – kales shade young geranium plants.
-Nasturtiums with various vegetables eg tomatoes– control of nematodes.

That China is the manufacturing capital of the world is well-established. What might not be immediately clear is that the Asian giant also leads the world in terms of production of many agricultural products.

We did some research and found that China leads the world in production of these foods as listed by the Spectator Index:

Rice

Lettuce
Cabbage
Cauliflowers
Eggplant
Potato
Spinach
Carrots
Cucumber
Pumpkin
Sweet Potato
Grapes
Peach
Apple
Plum
Strawberry
Tomato

Developing countries like Nigeria can learn from this, by focusing on agricultural products that we have a comparative advantage in producing, we can grow our economy quickly. This also shows that focusing on agriculture to quickly develop an economy is a good idea or what do you think?
