PhockPhockMan: She was, however, evasive on why the President Barack Obama’s administration refused to assist Nigeria with Zmapp drugs.

She said the US was proud of the way Chukwu, the Federal Health Ministry members of staff and the Federal Government had effectively been working hard to deal with the EVD outbreak in Nigeria.

She however said it was not true that the US government had failed to assist Nigeria with Zmapp drugs.

“That is not correct; I think the Centre for Disease Control has proactively supported all the countries in the West African region in dealing with the situation. It is not about Zmapp.”

In his response, Chukwu said, Let me also reaffirm that the United States of America has fully been part of this battle; how to contain the Ebola Virus Disease in Nigeria. US CDC has done wonderfully well.

Who is FOOLING WHO? huh huh

TWO Eediots praise-singing one another! grin grin grin

The real heroes in govt circles on the Ebola saga are the "health workers" who risk their lives to save others ....
... and "Gov Fashola" who was very proactive from day one, to make sure that the virus does not spread amongst Lagosians!
It would have been calamitous!

As for this Chukwu-Minister, he has diverted the Ebola-fund to buy Vehicles! Dunce!!

For those comparing Nigeria's loss to Spain or Brazil in the World Cup, DID YOU HEAR THEIR COACH UTTER THIS KIND OF NONSENSE THAT KESHI IS YEARNING?

In a sane country, keshi will not only be sacked, he would be charged for sedition with that his silly comment ...or was he not being paid to teach the players how to win?

Look, let us accept it, Keshi may have been fortunate in the past, not because he was any good (In a football loving country of 180Million, you will definitely be able to pick at least FIFTY DIFFERENT FOOTBALL TEAMS that would win CHAN ) but because the "footballers" were already available.

Keshi has nothing to offer, l tell you, if you make Mikel SLOWBIE the coach of the Super Eagles, our performance cant be worse than what Keshi has achieved.

Keshi, like our corrupt politicians is a "chancer" and a fraud.

If he was that good, why did he not WIN the Nations Cup with Togo? huh huh

And to think that it was this same "loud mouth Keshi" that was all over Tweeter inciting Nigerians against Uche Okechukwu, a player that could easily be his son!

Useless person, this Keshi.

Politics › Re: Seun Kuti Calls Buhari An Evil Man!!! by lastpage: 8:09am On Sep 05, 2014
Lets call a spade, A SPADE!

Buhari: He was no saint at all.
Anyone old enough will remember the "46 SUITCASES" SAGA under his government.
Idiagbon was the real actor in his government. The duo, we must agree, tried to "stamp" discipline into Nigerians at a time when corruption and indiscipline orchestrated by the NPN shenanigans, was already killing the country, a situation very akin to what we have under the present Jona-daft government.
The problem with Buhari is simply that he is a religious fanatic, no matter how you dice it. Honestly, It will be a calamity to let him rule this country again though l recognize that Nigeria is in a serious "shortage of Statesmen"

Nigeria needs "statesmen", MEN who are devoid of religious, tribal or ethnic affinity and who will see themselves as "Father of the nation, leader of every Nigerian, irrespective of tongue, creed or religion. Buhari, l must say, is a mile-off the mark when it comes to such qualities.
But in terms of enforcing discipline, albeit brutally and retrospectively (l say "brutally" because he retroactively passed a death sentence on a drug courier who committed the offence when the law was not in place, something that is considered inhumane in law), we must give his government and that of Idiagbon, some credit.

I have a very strong feeling that if we had continued with the tone he set in those days, as per "War against Indiscipline", Nigeria would be a more decent society by now but alas, the EVIL GENIUS, Babangida truncated that attempt.

Fela: with regards to the constant harassment and brutalizing Abami Eda, fela Anikulapo Kuti, the enigma of Nigerian music and philosophy, l think Obasanjo did worse things to Fela, than even Buhari!

It was Obachanjo, out of a very deep hatred for educated people, (those who are academically better than him, since he (OBJ), as a class mate of Fela. Soyinka and MKO Abiola, was a failure and a school drop-out, after which he was "thrown" into the Army), who times without number, was hell bent on humiliating Fela.
It was he, "Obachanjo" that sent soldiers to burn down fela's house (kalakuta republic) and threw Fela's mother downstairs form the storey building, killing the poor woman (This much was captured in fela's song, "Dem kill my Mama...." and that was the only time l ever saw Fela CRY!, during the rendition of that song).
Obasanjo has so much hate for his three classmates (Fela, MKO, Wole Soyinka) and is constantly looking for ways to oppress and harass them, all his pathetic life!. So, if Seun wants to be angry, he better direct his venom at that Owuu (or is it Onitsha?) man that kille dhis grandmother. Buhari never did that much.

Fela, as a person, was the prophet who people never recognized.
I am an ardent fan of his since the 70's. If he were alive today, l would beg him to "open a church' so l can attend because though he was not a Pastor, Reverend, Overseer or "Man of God" (MOG or is it MUGUN sef?), he ACCURATELY PREDICTED our social malaise nothing less than three decades (30years) in advance! None of our present day "Muguns", with all their followers, jets and ostentation could even come close to that.

Just listen to his songs (Dont dance to it, lie down on a couch and listen, then reflect on the lyrics) and you will learn a lot about this country and how we became what we are today.
I will even suggest that Schools, right from Junior Secondary to University level, should take different records of Fela Kuti and convert it into BOOKS for study. Courses should be made out of them so that the current generation can have some grounding
.

Yes, he smoked Indian Hemp otherwise called Cannabis and was criticised and vilified just for that but are we aware that many countries/states have of today, legalised the use of the same Indian hemp?

Problem is: Fela came BEFORE his time. He should have been born around 2099
While he was talking and thinking about issues of hundred years ahead, we the primitives around him were wondering, like the 'cave-man theory', whether what he was saying actually made sense not knowing that it is "us' that are archaic and barbaric!

R.I.P Abami Eda, you are unique so much that even your children cannot imitate you!
Like Jesus, you were not appreciated nor understood and out of sheer ignorance, fear and hatred of that which we know not, you were hunted till death but in death, your glory showed even more.

You are missed laods.

A loyal fan.

I still dont understand, how is it that our locally produced rice (Abakaliki, Offada) cost almost thrice over the imported rice?

I sampled the market yesterday and realised that a "Derica" of local rice costs between #500 and #600, in Lagos!
Same imported rice, Mama Gold for example costsbetween #150 to #200, in Lagos!!

Does "supply" have a role to play in this cost disparity?
If so, how do we cushion the effect on the buyer, so that he/she gets value for money?
Do we ban 'imported substitutes' like Mama Gold?
Do we just ignore it and let the price keep rising? Of-course producers will prefer this as it translates to mega-profit.
Do we gradually wind-down imports of rice in the same quantity as our local production increases?

Take your pick.

anonimi: @ lastpage,

The problem of inflated food costs is the fact that there are too many people who receive too much money for doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Thus the classical definition of inflation applies to our country- too much money chasing after too few goods.
How much does a LGA Councillor receive guaranteed monthly huh
What of State Assembly legisLOOTER as well as his Abuja NASS counterpart who is a SINator and representaTHIEF who also collect mega-millions without producing any Bill to address the multiple legal loopholes in our constitution or bring issues concerning their constituents whom they REPRESENT to the attention of the executive i.e. governor/commissioner & president/minister huh The wage DISPARITY therefore discourages the underpaid civil servants & other real sector workers from doing a good job & producing goods + services as they are clearly demotivated sad

Meanwhile your proposal of gradual phase-in while it seems good in theory may not be ideal in our situation as you need to encourage private investors by putting in place reasonable, stable & long-term import tariff protection so they can decide to produce locally rather than opt for quick TRADING returns from importation. That was what our really CLUELESS military DICTATORS did that brought us to this rotten stage of cheap & cheerful but deadly import-everything which the Jonathan/Sambo administration is slowly but steadily correcting.

Lastly, anyone who cannot fast/sacrifice meaningfully for a season will only remain perpetual slaves to those who can. May that not be our portion!!!
When you stayed in school for education you were making a sacrifice of your time & efforts in addition to that of your parents who paid the fees. You could have chosen to start "enjoying life" much earlier as maybe others did and are way below you now, normally.
I agree with most of what you wrote.

In addition, l am also looking at situation where we can achieve our "set-goals", whatever that is, with minimal negative impact on the poor populace.

Like they say, "There are MANY WAYS of killing a Cat, you can beat it to death, you can strangle it to death, you can poison it to death, you can run it over with your car, you can drown it, e.t.c"..... but the END GAME is that the CAT DIES!

Your choice of method now determines what "effort and Cost" it takes you to achieve your aim.
I believe that as rational humanbeings, "We should go through the path of least resistance, in solving our problems".

The fact that India or China or Japan used "crude methods" in the past, might be as a result of the prevailing situations around them.
But we MUST ALWAYS EVOLVE AND LEARN FROM THE MISTAKES OF OTHERS AND NOT REPEAT THEM! NO ONE NEEDS TO RE-INVENT THE WHEEL, TO MAKE PROGRESS!

Yes, l agree, we can use measures like "import tarrifs and licenses" to encourage local production .... but we must also realize that if that "level of local production at that point in time" does not meet local demand, INFLATION OCCURS! Now, that is not in the interest of poor Nigerians.

On the other-hand, a combination measures l stated above (dont want to repeat everything) represents the "easiest way" to achieve the same objective without making the masses suffer very much. We will achieve the same objective without any structural damage to our psyche.

That is where l stand.
My suggestions are not just academic, they are tried and tested as l have worked for decades and have a litany of successful experience to show for it.

Cheers,

lukaino: Keshi is too petty. His ego can be likened to the size of the sambisa forest.
His ability to effectively manage the different personalities within the team tells clearly if he is a good or bad coach.
So far, in my opinion, he is a bad manager and should improve on his people skills.
I agree with you wholeheartedly!

Keshi is the head of that Team, the Coach, the Big Boss!

If any of his "members" offend him, he should be magnanimous enough to CALL THE YOUNG CHAP BEHIND CLOSED DOORS AND IRON OUT THE ISSUE!

But to go on Social media to malign a young man supposed to be under your watch shows that Stephen Keshi himself is a bigger problem than the small Uche. Keshi is arrogant, egoistic and ALWAYS PETTY since his playing days. That we know.

Keshi is just trying to find away to JUSTIFY HIS EXCLUSION of the Player, from the National team, knowing that the player is doing very well at Club level and Nigerians are wondering "Whats-Up" with not inviting the boy?

We remember that it is this same Keshi that used the boy and others to pursue the World cup qualifiers only to collect Money from other Premiership and Championship players, and field them in the real Mundial in Brazil!

I can understand if the boy is not in form but how do you explain drafting people who never played a single match in the qualifiers, into the Brazil Mundial at the last moment? And the result we have seen ourselves when the likes of Shola Ameobi cannot even use their head to convert a "sitting header"! shocked shocked

This sort of nonsense only happens in a corrupt-ridden Nigerian Football Organisation (though FIFA as a whole is corruption personified!)

Keshi has out leaved his usefulness, all he is doing now is "making money and running without moving"!

Self Sufficiency is very good.... but only a foolish person hears the rumble of a rain and then proceed to throw/pour away the water he has stored in his drums" ... what if it does not eventually rain?

Jonathan and his advisers are the most clueless "adults" that this world has ever produced. WHY? He keeps putting the cart before the horse! shocked shocked

1) Rice: five years ago (1999), a bag of rice (50Kg) was #1,200. Today, it ranges from #9,000 to #12,000 depending on quality!
Question is: whose interest does it serve for people with fixed income (civil servants or Corpers for example) to live under such level of inflation, all in the name of self-sufficiency in Rice production?
Mind you, l am not saying self-sufficiency is wrong, l am saying the method of achieving it, as demonstrated by this clueless Govt, is completely stewpid.

In computer Science/project implementation, there is something called CHANGE-OVER or SWITCH-OVER METHODS!
The best method amongst the four types is the "gradual phase-in-phase-out" method (l am trying to use very simple terms here so that l can carry everyone along). It implies that you gradually withdraw the old method/system while you GRADUALLY phase-in the new method/system.
The keyword here is "GRADUALLY".

You dont ban or hike the import tariff on Rice or Vehicles until you are sure that your local production is ENOUGH to sustain demand, otherwise, you simply cause scarcity and price inflation
Nigeria is not producing even 25% of the local rice requirement... yet you are banning/hiking tarrif on foreign imports? That is what made the price to jump from #1,200 to around #10,000 within five years, an increase of around 700%! Now, can you increase salary by 700%? The answer is NO.

Now, you might argue that if we dont ban this items, we will not produce it locally or say we ban them to encourage local production.
You are wrong! There so many ways to increase/encourage local production.

1.) Say Rice for example or Cars: Govt can fund mechanized farming of rice while not stopping the importation. what happens is that we will have a situation whereby the market become saturated with the product.

Since people are used to the imported version, you simply drop the price of the local one (subsidize it), compared to the imported one, to encourage people to buy it. Most People are "rational beings" and as long as the QUALITY is comparable, in no time, people will switch to the local one and then the demand for the imported brand will fall and eventually die-off NATURALLY! A case in point for this example is "Electrical cable" imported and made in Nigeria. Go to any market and you will find otu that made-in-Nigeria Cable is costlier than imported electrical cable.... and Govt did not need to ban the importation of cable before this "situation" was achieved.

Gradually, Govt can then sell its holdings in this mechanized farms to "private operators" at reasonable profit. (Assuming they dont sell it ot their friends, as they did NITEL, STEEL PLANTS, NEPA, e.t.c

Second Method:
Using Cars as example, it is strange that while the country is yet to produce (not as in Assemble!) its first car, we are banning vehicle importation, knowing that it is something we cannot do without. The result again is artificial price inflation.

what should have been done is that Govt encourages and support local producers (l hope l can call them that sef, but we can keep helping them to increase their local content) by first granting them incentives in form of import waivers for raw materials (and ensure that they spend it on such specified products!), free/cheap land in industrial layouts, other infrastructure like "link-roads" to the ports or catchment market.

Then Govt will be the first to patronise their product, to keep the production-line moving
As they "trade" their products and produce more, their level of production will get to a point where they can boast of meeting a certain percentage of local requirement. At this point, economies of large scale will ensure that their "selling price" keeps dropping, compared to imported vehicles.
GRADUALLY, Govt can then begin to "squeeze out' the imported vehicles using fiscal and monetary policies. This will ensure that prices dont rise dramatically and the common man is able to afford a vehicle and not denied the right to chose whether to buy local or imported.

What we have is some CLUELESS LEADERS using BRUTE FORCE to force the masses to do their wishes, to pay for goods at exorbitant rates, to go hungry or malnourished due to high cost of staple foods like Rice and Gari..... and to think they themselves will not use locally made cars and they get their own bag of Rice for free, what with the billions of Naira they budget for food at Aso rock!
How the poor man also wish he can budget one Billion Naira for food annually, then who will care about increase in import tariff?

Finally, why BAN something.... and thenhave the same thing smuggled-in through the next country's border? If we know we cannot police our borders and our Customs are not trustworthy enough to protect the country, then banning such items is just diverting money (in terms of revenue) which should have accrued to govt pockets (and available to all of us!), into the pockets of a few "smugglers" and their collaborators at the border posts. It is senseless. Ban only if you can enforce such ban, otherwise it is counter productive.
Foreign materials is banned yet, everyone is wearing a foreign lace material!
Even the Govt official who pronounced the ban is not left out! From Hollandis to Voil lace! angry angry

Honestly, in a poor country like Nigeria, staple foods like rice should not cost more than #250/ 50Kg bag.
I am looking at say 1.5% of the average monthly basic income. Yes, someone earning #20,000 monthly has no business buying rice above #300/bag. It is achievable with good leadership and good planning.

It is so in advance countries, Food is the cheapest thing you expend your income on.
But in Nigeria, it is the opposite! Masses are dying of starvation while our "Ogas at the Top" die of constipation!

Abbey2sam: i won't blame any player who once played at the qualifying stage and were not picked for the main event, if they don't want to play now.....

Or is it that some players are good for qualifying while others for the main event
Good POINT!

Its a shame that some Nigerians just rush to open their mouths, to condemn others, before hearing the other side of the story...

.... and even if you are not opportuned to "hear the other side", it sis your duty to use "logic and common sense" to analyse and decipher what exactly happened, with a very OPEN MIND, from just what one of the parties have said.
Mind you, No ACCUSER ever tells the story in a way that will portray them as the guilty party!

For example, let us use our sense and ask a few questions:
1.) When Uche was invited before, did he honor the invitations? YES
If he has been honoring National Calls before, definitely there must be something that made him change his mind this time around.
WHAT COULD THAT THING BE?

2.) When the team eventually qualified for the World Cup, was he invited to "continue" what he and others had laboured very hard for (or did Stephen Keshi suddenly invite very strange and new entities just introduced to the team at the last minute)?

3.)If you are in Uche's shoes, how would you feel about this act of betrayal? (Tell me whether Germany the eventual winners suddenly went to recruit some unknown names playing some obscure lower leagues, to prosecute their finals in Brazil?
There are even "rumours" that Stephen Keshi sold player spots and collected money from some of these "average players" that we suddenly saw in the finals in Brazil, but who never participated in the qualifiers!
How can anyone explain taking a player to the World cup finals, who has NEVER kicked a ball for the nation BEFORE? Only in Nigeria! shocked shocked

4.) Uche has been very QUIET AND SILENT about this issue, how come it is the Coach Keshi, who himself did some "gra-gra" resignation (the usual "arrangee scam" failed Coaches do, to make themselves feel very important!) and asked to be begged to come back, is the one going on social media to accuse a player under his watch? Any principled Coach would not say he has resigned, after a failure, only to now say he is changing his mind because they begged him!
Brazil Coach, despite reaching the Semi-final, felt he failed th enation and resigned...HE NEVER CHANGED HIS MIND. That is A PRINCIPLE PERSON),
Coaches are supposed to be like "fathers" in the team. Why would a "genuine father" go to tweeter to say bad things about a player under his watch? has Keshi descended so low as to now be trading words on Twitter with players?

5.)Assuming we believe what Stephen Keshi has alleged about Uche, what is the point of saying it on Tweeter? IS Keshi trying to instigate hatred for the young boy? IS it not shameful that Keshi cannot even shut his big mouth and just work with those who are "ready to honor his call-up" afterall, like the boy said, playing for your country is a big honor, the players need the country more than the country needs them.

6.) So, what does Stephen Keshi expect us o do now, that he has become "town crier"? Is he going to blame his next failure on Ikechukwu Uche? In a country of close to 200million, is Keshi telling us that the absence of just one Ikechukwu Uche is giving him headache so much that he has to go as far as Tweeter to cry-me-a-river? Just imagine Brazil or Germany or Argentina or Spain crying on tweeter that ONE PLAYER is not honouring national call-Up? Never will that happen.

7.)Anyone who was grown-up enough during the playing days of Stephen Keshi will vouch that he was more arrogant, selfish and combative that the Keshi he is putting down now. Infact, he was a "rebel leader and Mafioso" in the Green Eagles of those days to the point that he would be telling coaches which player to chose for a game and which not to. Do you still wonder how he got that nick-name "Big Boss" even before he became a National team coach? Now you know.

Stephen Keshi should STFU and face his work.
Slandering and maligning the integrity of young boys under his watch should not be the job of a man of his age, ..and a National Coach for that matter.

sirjohnson: Guys, its actually better to date fat girls, I swear. Read reasons you should date fat girls Here and I bet you will agree with me.

I made a decision a long time ago never to make jest of fat people.
Really, no one needs to make jest of anyone "BUT IF" you are FAT and YOU dont like it, dont blame anyone for your size!

The best thing you can do is to take responsibility for how you look!

YOU can be whoever or whatever you want.

Suggestions:

EAT LESS PLEASE!

1.) Take a smaller plate to serve your food: I have noticed that we all scoop a "full plate" when we want to eat so one way to cut down on what you eat is to "change your plates to smaller ones".

2.) Stop "snacking in-between meals": Most fat folks just cant stop eating all the time. When walking on the streets, they are chewing something, in the train, on flights, just about anytime they are awake, they have something in their mouth. Control yourself and refuse to eat in-between meals
3.)Mind what you eat: Eat foods with less starch and Sugar! Eat more of FRUITS and VEGETABLES.... and there are plenty to choose from in Nigeria. Make Fruit juice (dont sieve it too much so it contains a little bit of fibre). If you must "eat something" in-between meals, take the fruit juice

EXERCISE MORE PLEASE!
If you can succeed in cutting down on your food intake, at least "balance it out" with burning the food! (its your money you are wasting anyway!)

1.) Most fat folks tend to feel "lazy and sluggish". They tend to want to remain in one place, most of the time. I know exercise takes a lot of energy and "will-power" but you have to be "mentally strong" and feel challenged, to conquer your worst enemy -LARGE SIZE!
Make concious effort to do some exercise:

-Fast Walk: normal walking would not help you loose weight, you need a "rapid walk" (like say u dey crase!) with arms swinging and body swerving from side-to-side. This one burns the fat and uses other calories/energy that would have been converted to fat later.
Jogging is also good. Get an "exercise buddy", someone who shares your passion for exercise to go along with you and get that MP3 player abd headphones, to make it more fun! kiss

-Swim: if you have access to a pool, please swim a lot. Its the best "complete exercise" that touches all parts of your body at the same time. And you will even enjoy it!

-Ride a Bike: If you can ride a bike as it would reduce those fats in your legs and arm and makes your leg/arm muscles very firm.

SLEEP LESS:
Sleep deprivation prevents further metabolism of food ingested. You simply pass-out most of the food as "waste puupuu".

AVOID SEDENTARY LIFESTYLE:
-Do jobs that dont require you sitting down for hours upon hours (like I.T jobs, Driving jobs, e.t.c)
-Watch less TV and play less computer games! Kids are getting fatter nowadays because there is so much Video games around and they can spend days on the couch, just having fun on "computer/TV Games" but in the long run, it not only affect their "size", it damages their health!

Finally, dont play the blame game, like this is doing, take responsibility for your own size/health .... and be happy with what you make out of your like, eventually. IF YOU DONT LIKE IT, CHANGE IT!

Just read all the posts of this nitwit and you would be left in no doubt that he is one of those FLAT HEADS who abandoned their erosion-ridden and cockroach infested region, to seek the GOLDEN EGG in Yoruba-land.

I am Yoruba and l and very very proud of it.
Yes, we do have 'slums' that needs further development (even London, America and other parts of Europe have slums that would make Ibadan or Abeokuta brown roofs a subject of envy, trust me on that, l have seen it all) ... but Rome was not built in a day.

We will CONTINUE TO IMPROVE our lot in life, let the Refugees from the East keep coming, it just shows we are miles ahead of them!
If Nigerians run abroad to seek paradise, why wont some ungrateful Flat-head who runs to Ibadan to seek paradise, run his mouth on Nairaland (another Yoruba platform!)?

Please, "if the FOX dies, it is not in the place of the CHICKEN to come and mourn him"

And to think that you are so ashamed of your own people to assume a Yoruba 'handle'? tongue tongue tongue

Olooshi, its is your FLAT HEAD PEOPLE that have lost the Plot.

oaroloye: I am really sorry for the terrible loss.

It is so very easy to cast blame, but what right have any of us
to leave the security of our lives up to others,
when we know that we are targets?

As pilot, it was HIS responsibility to check his machine for possible tampering.
(I presume that we are all in agreement that this was no accident?)

Didn't the "mighty commander" just go striding in to sit upon his "throne of god,"
secure in the knowledge that his "boys," the mechanics, had carried out their orders,
and had done all the checking FOR HIMhuh So that HE didn't CHECK their work?

If he had been more paranoid, he would have been less dignified, more risible,
but a whole lot more alive!

Am I making the point properly? AS A MILITARY PILOT, YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE EXPERTLY KNOWLEDGEABLE
IN ALL THE POSSIBLE WAYS IN WHICH SOME... ILLEGITIMATE CAN BLOW UP YOUR BIRD, AND HOW TO DETECT THEM.

Commander Dada let himself down, let his passengers down, let the Navy down,
LET ALL THEIR FAMILIES DOWN, let NIGERIA down!

FROM HERE ON IN, LET EVERY OFFICER GET DOWN ON THE GROUND AND LOOK UNDER HIS OR HER OWN CAR,
TO CHECK THAT IF THERE IS A BOMB THERE OR NOT! LET THEM SEE WITH THEIR OWN EYES, THAT THERE
IS NOTHING IN THE BOOT, OR WIRED TO THE IGNITION, OR STUFFED UNDER THE SEATS, BEFORE GOING OFF.

LET IT BE MADE A STANDING ORDER.

Let mechanics and maintenance staff be thoroughly watched, and account for their presence every hour of the day.
Their personal right to privacy must be waived, because THIS IS WARTIME, NOT PEACETIME.

Why do people laugh at me, when I suggest the use of common sense?
First, you make a lot of sense with your post, even if it was 'peace time'.

But what NO ONE would factor-in is that ONE OF YOURS will be your own ENEMY!

*When your father, Mother or siblings give you a piece of Biscuit, do you first check it properly before devouring it?
*When your wife serves you dinner, do you call your Mai-guard to come and taste it first before commencing to eat it?
*When you team dribbles and face his own post (your own keeper), do you go and push him off the ball thinking he was about to score an own-goal? or when you give your own goal-keeper a 'back pass', do you run behind him to catch the ball yourself or do you TRUST him to catch the ball and not let it roll inside the net?

Its same in the military! TRUST IS ETERNAL.
Its a "team work", everyone has their role and they are TRUSTED to play their role ... NOT SABOTAGE a COLLEAGUE!
The greatest enemy is the the "one within" and it is very difficult to guard against!

"A house divided against itself,... needs no enemy, to destroy it".
You dont see a Marine or Fighter Pilot checking his plane "all round" before hopping into it, when duty calls.

R.I.P to a gallant soldier, with the heart of an Angel.
BTW: How come its the "good ones' that dont last long?
If we judge every soldier by the behaviour of some of their comrades on "the streets' in dealing with civilians, then you would understand why some cant just come around to love soldiers.
Soldiers (Military guys) are supposed to be idolized cause they have sworn to put their life on the line, if need be, to defend other citizens but in Nigeria, some Soldiers think "bullying civilians" is an act of bravery!

Not knowing that humility and kindness is the mark of great soldiers while bully (especially to an unarmed civilian whom you are swore to protect!) is the GREATEST ACT OF COWARDICE!
Respect is "earned" ...not usurped with threat/fear!

Let other "alive" soldiers read and learn.
Once again, RIP, gallant soldier.

nduchucks: It is quitre obvious that many NL posters are poverty striken.

We all know that the best medical facilities in the world are not located in Nigeria. Expecting anyone who has billions of dollars to spend, not to go to the best medical facility available to him regardless of its location, is unreasonable.

But on the other hand, knowing fully well that most of these Billionaires STOLE the money from the people's patrimony, WHY cant they just 'build the same BEST medical facility" in Nigeria.... and use it and let others also pay them for its use?

Does that not make more logical sense?

*What if their plane went down "Ukraine Style" as they are rushing abroad for treatment? (which can be avoided by building it here)
*What if there ailment is of such an emergency that they have only 30mins be saved by the BEST medical facility nko?
*Does it not profit them and all their loved ones as well, to build such within country? Are those White people who built theirs in their own country STEWPID ... or is it our own Billionaires that are STEWPID?
*Finally, why is it that the Blackman does not reason deeply and will forever try to play second fiddle, even when he has 'pole-position'?

Tinubu was governor of Lagos state for 8 years after which his anointed successor and incumbent governor took over.

Tinubu is the leader of the APC, the major opposition party in Nigeria, which is making mouth watery promises, including healthcare reforms, if elected in 2015.

One would have expected Tinubu and his gang to atleast show the PDP how it is done by transforming the Lagos healthcare system or was 14 years not enough for Tinubu's party to do the needful in Lagos state?

Since Tinubu and his gang now travel abroad for medical care, what is the fate of the over 20 million Lagosians?

What is obvious is that Tinubu and his party do not trust the Lagos healthcare system they claim to have transformed in 14 years.
I am not partisan and will never be but what do you think would have happened to THIS COUNTRY AS OF TODAY if Fashola and his APC government were like their PDP counterparts, in reacting and taking immediate action when Ebola Virus hit Nigeria's shores, through Lagos... with like 20Million people is a small confined space as Lagos?

I bet by now, Ebola would have ravaged the whole country so much that Liberia and Sierra Leone combined will be child's play.
That alone, is a big feather on Fashola's cap.
Mind you, l am not saying he is a perfect example of good governance (nor his thieving God father Tinubu)
but as much as l hate to compare "thieves and blind mice", ............Lagos state Govt is not on the same level with PDP states.

Nairaland General › Re: FG To Cancel Fixed Electricity Charge – BPE by lastpage: 7:15am On Aug 22, 2014
Director General BPE: The Director-General, Bureau of Public Enterprises, Mr. Benjamin Dikki, has said that the fixed charge currently being paid by electricity consumers in the country will be dispensed with as soon as power generation increases to an economically sustainable level.

Dikki said this during a live/phone-in radio programme, Radio Link on Radio Nigeria, in Abuja.

According to him, the fixed charge is a temporary measure.

The BPE boss said the country had an installed power generation capacity of 6,000 megawatts but was generating only about 3,000MW to 4,000MW.

Dikki, in a statement made available by the BPE on Wednesday, said revenues from the 3,000MW were not sufficient to support the power infrastructure.

“When power generation increases, the fixed charge will go,” he added.

He said the charge was the initial sacrifice consumers had to make given the huge financial investment made by the new investors in the power sector, who had yet to make adequate returns on their investments.
The 'bolded" statement above is a sure way to ensure that those who benefit from the collection of that fixed charge, being the same people who are supposed to increase power generation, WILL DO EVERYTHING IN THEIR "POWER" TO SABOTAGE ANY POWER INCREASE, JUST TO MAINTAIN THE STATUS-QUO!

Its like tasking generator importers to ensure there is stable electricity! shocked shocked shocked

Exactly my Thoughts!

Our Doctor was sick, their own Doctors were also sick!
Both require treatment.

They allowed their own Doctors to use the "risky experimental ZMapp" ..and he eventually got healed.
We requested for just a few doses to treat our own God-given Dr. Adadeivo ....but they refused to share it with us!

Instead, they sent it to Liberia.

Now, our own Doctor has died (and for every Doctor that dies, many lives will follow, as she could have saved close to 50,000 lives in her life-time, she she were to be ALIVE!)
