FabioPeter: A few metres from this bus terminal is MM2, a terminal for aircrafts. Its by far bigger and trickier to manage but guess what, the moment it was built and commissioned it was concessioned to a private company and its a success story till date. Not only has it been properly maintained, it has also been improved to meet with best practice and standards, it attracts good patronage and in consequence good financial returns to government.
Same should happen with this bus terminal. MMA2 was built from scratch by Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), which carried out that project as the country’s first successful Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) concession, in the aviation sector, after the domestic terminal of the old Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, went up in flames in 2000. The concession was awarded to BASL which funded the entire project, without govt funding in 2003. That airport opened for operations in 2007. The story is different from that of the new bus terminal, which was conceived and built with govt funds, using govt agencies and contractors. Most govt owned buildings and projects are hardly ever well-maintained, due to inadequate funding, poor monitoring skills and poor adherence to maintenance programmes. So it is really too early to compare the management and operations of MMA2, which was built through a BOT arrangement, (and is currently being managed by a private firm), with the management of this new bus terminal, that is still solely under govt control . Anyway, I hope they eventually take your advice and concession the bus terminal to an experienced private management firm, to run and maintain for a fixed number of years. I also hope they will not repeat the Visionscape fiasco, when they eventually decide to engage a private company to manage it. |

perez100: This is the very reason I said Yorubas are educated illiterates. They said Japan is owing too and they have many flyovers in South West but they are not asking how are they going to pay their debts without any viable export from their region. No Technical Know-How, natural resources. So, what will they use to offset their debts? You export nothing yet you borrow money to build flyovers and other projects that cannot yield any income. Still, these quack economists claim Lagos is viable. You only brag of IGR but your debts makes mockery of it. No viable exports? No Technical Know-How, no natural resources? Guy, where did you get such fake stories from? There is no part of Nigeria, that does not have at least one viable export commodity that can be turned into revenue, for the state. Just do your research! |

Do you know what I am bothered about? The ability of the state govt and its agencies, to sustain and maintain this terminal over a long period of time, to the high standards of cleanliness and functionality, shown here. Such an edifice would soon be launched with fanfare, and even fancier speeches. In 9 months, it would take the grace of God to meet this same terminal, in this pristine state. It is likely to have been defaced, distorted and riddled with all kinds of nauseating activities, that are capable of ruining the purpose it was originally set out to achieve. We need to put more effort into sustaining such projects or terminals, for good optimum performance. |

gidgiddy: So you went IDP's, so human suffering, heard tales of people being slaughtered by Boko haram or herdsmen, lives and livlihood destroyed. Herdsmen massacaring people from Nnamdi Kanu's home state of Abia to Taraba state.
But in your own mind, what will plunge Nigeria into anarchy is what one unarmed man says or does not say? This why Africa is a backward place, people reason like morrons. Kanu is only talking, others are killing people everyday, but it is Kanu that will get a big military invasion while those who killing people, kidnapping School girls and blowing up pipelines are getting millions in randsome money, cattle colonies, military support, amnesty programmes, government intervention.
Those that took up arms and kill people smile and laugh
The person who only talked gets military invasion and terrorist tag. That is the sign of a decayed society that is heading nowhere. Kanu called Nigeria a zoo, but even a zoo much better organised than Nigeria

If you are that concerned and angry because Nnamdi Kanu talked, then how concerned and angry are you at those who have graduated beyond talking to actually killing people, raping women, sacking communities and driving into families into IDP's? How concerned are you at armed groups out there like boko haram, Herdsmen and armed Niger Delta groups out there killing people every day? Today, your country has become an international hotbed of terrorism, kidnapping of School girls, herdsmen killings, sectarian violence and human rights abuse.
But your headache is what Kanu said or didnt say

If you are looking for expressions of anger against the marauders "actually killing people, raping women, sacking communities and driving into families into IDP's", then do a content analysis of all my posts on NL, and you will find that at least 50% of those posts have been directed against such people. I have even visited an IDP camp before, to carry out some work as a volunteer. I have also spoken against Kanu whose hate speech and sole aim was to plunge this nation into anarchy and dismember it. If you are offended by my utterances against Kanu, please kindly turn left and plunge yourself into the nearest lagoon..... |

See whn, the problem with we nigerians is that we want to enjoy the good things of life like Americans and Europeans dem, but we don't want to sacrifice anything. That project they're doing at those places you mentioned aren't going to take forever you know; why don't you endure for a little while, so that you can then enjoy in the long term. For example, look at the pains and hardship people in ikorodu had to endure whilst the mile 12-ikorodu road was being rehabilitated by fashola, but after enduring the pains are they not enjoying the road now?? My brother you cannot make omelettes without breaking eggs, so abeg biko endure for a while, it will soon be over Guy, BlueRayDick has a valid point. You cannot start construction/rehabilitation works on 2 major roads leading into a particular district at the same time, without leaving an alternative route open, for ease of vehicular traffic. It causes a gridlock and valuable man hours are spent in such traffic, simply because of on-going construction work. I have colleagues in my office who live in that axis, and for these people, getting in and out of their homes is blooody difficult. This project could have been better planned...to cause less hardship to citizens in that area. Didn't he learn anything from Fashola, when our dear BRF was still governor? |

Phemoo10: IPOB and APC have something in common; Lies and Propaganda. Anything that happens, even natural disasters have been foretold by Nnamdi KANU, just continue... Instead of hailing Danjuma for speaking out against this devilish government, when others are still silent, you still want to crucify him just for relevance.
Nigeria is a multicultural country, and issues like Fulani herdsman attack, cultism etc will surface. But it is the responsibility of a reasonable government to tackle the menace on time and bring the culprits to book. Gen. Danjuma was a former defence minister and you expect him to condemn the government immediately without weighing their actions/reactions? Noo. As an elder statesman, he waited for government actions which were not forthcoming before making his assertions. At least it is better than absolute silence... https://www.reactiongifs.com/r/rofling.gif |

Try and make your enquiries and physically inspect each one, before making a decision. Make sure you engage a good property lawyer to crosscheck the title deeds at the land registry before making any payment, though. * Also please do your research very carefully, so that you do not fall into the hands of omo oniles, and unscrupulous estate resellers.
