@ sucessful1

I am actually half in San Diego (work) and half in Atlanta (where I'm based).

Please don't believe the hype about Atlanta. Yes the cost of living is cheap relatively speaking, but in terms of what I would consider a city of exposure, well let's just say Atlanta is still "the south!" Yes you have downtown Atlanta but once you go beyond that radius, it is basically subs and rurals. Don't get me wrong, Atlanta is cool in some ways but it depends on what you're used to and what lifestyle you live. There are many naija folks here but spread out. Gives you that flexibility of jumping in and out the community whenever you feel like or remaining out of sight. The job market here I'd say is strong and good for black folks, many major corporations base their headquarters here.

San Diego is very laid back. Maybe too laid back and yes, EXPENSIVE! But I really love L.A. Real estate is stupendously EXPENSIVE though, but trust me you have lots to do in L.A. Way more than Atlanta. More cultured and exposed people but materialistic and superficial too. Everyone is an "actor/actress" in the making or whatever. Whereas in Atlanta, everyone is a "producer/rapper/promoter" in the making or whatever.

Hope this helps some.

How was that putting Nigerian women down. I am 100% a Nigerian woman. I don't know where you got the impression either that I am a man
I am glad you clarified that you are 100% Nigerian as I couldnt tell the way you bash your own brothers. Not sure what circle you hang around but when I was at a party last weekend I saw a handful of Educated, Down to Earth, Respectful Naija brothers with Gorgeous Naija sisters in their arms. Every last one of them! So I'm not sure maybe you have been burned a few times by Naija brothers, well guess what? I have been burned by a few no good Naija girls too but I will never allow the few bad eggs to ruin the reputation, the adoration, the respect, the appreciation, the essence of my well educated, strong, cultured, beautiful, tasteful, Fashionable, Beautiful, "Cute-iful" and Booty-ful ( grin) Naija sisters.

Thats cool if you feel that Naija brothers are a no go for you. One woman's trash na another woman's treasure. If you don't believe me, ask Sistawoman who is married to a Naija man and is on a Naija Forum. She knows the deal and what we are worth whether she chooses to admit or not.

So outstrip, if na Black American men wey dey sweet you, all good to you. God gave us all free will. Just know that there are A LOT of Black American men (successful) who are with white women - Should I name a few? Cuba Gooding, Tyson Beckford, Scotty Pipen, Taye Diggs, Montel Williams, Quincy Jones, Charles Barkley, Wesley Snipes etc

As for me, I have a lot of plans for Nigeria and things that I would like to do to better my God-given country. By God's grace, I will be successful and will be with my "Cute-iful," Beautiful and Booty-ful Naija Michelle Obama by my side grin
RomanceRe: Why Are Black American Women Difficult? by Lax75(m): 7:32pm On May 05, 2009
@ Outstrip

The fact is that most Nigerian men using Michelle Obama as an example cannot handle a Michelle Obama. Your culture has not prepared you for it and your arrogance and your need to be put on a pedestal will not get you far with her.

- And by this statement I take it that you are referring to Naija sisters as "push overs?"

This is one of the funniest things I've heard on Nairaland. Do you date naija women to come to this conclusion?? Where are you from? If you are not from Nigeria have you been there to see the amount of Strong, Educated, Gorgeous, Intelligent women that run things and make things happen, not just over there in Naij but in Diaspora.

Anyways, you are entitled to your opinion no matter how misguided it is.

I still don't believe what I am reading, in this day and age?, in a civilized environment like UK?
You have said several times that you want "your relationship" to work. But the reality is that you have no relationship, by the time you realize this, you will either be 6 feet under or permanently disabled. I understand the need to show your gratitude to him, but allowing him to kill or maim you is not a way to show loyalty. Why not leave this abusive relationship, strike out on your own AND forgive him. Later in life, when levels have changed considerably, you guys can talk things out. But as things stand right now, you have no level, no standpoint from which you can talk to him in a way he will hear.
Let me tell you another secret about we men WE RESPECT ACTION! If you keep talking to him from now till eternity, he will not hear. But call the cops for instance, or leave him and start on your own and he will get the message.
The Bible says what can a man give in exchange of his soul? The answer is nothing, but in your case it seems like he has bought your soul with a UK visa, its time to get your soul back!

PS. . . . . . a strong black woman does not have to say it because her actions show that she is one. This is an online forum where no one really knows anyone else, outside of saying it here you will never hear me say it unless I am asked it. So those yelling it from the mountain tops are trying to fake it till they make it.

- I am glad you see my point. I have no problem with Strong Black Women (I would like me my Michelle Obama too). But how many times do you see people like Michelle, Oprah etc run around yelling "I'm a strong black woman."

BTW - I have dated a number of Black American women. Some good experiences, some bad. But no offence my naija sisters are my pride and joy grin

can you over the beatings/injuries just to prove to him you aint a gold-digger?
Is his business illegal?
What does he claim your offences are?
Dont you have friends? even where you work?

Sorry, but you misunderstood my post.

I speak from experience here when I've observed the attitudes and demeanor of these black American women refer to themselves as "Strong Black Woman."

You can see it as BS all you want to, I don't make no apologies.

Question to you, if a white american woman kept referring to herself as a "Strong White Woman" what would you say to that?

Empty barrels make the most noise and those who are truly strong and secure dont need to go around stating "I'm a strong black woman" over and over again.

If I owned a bentley I might as well ride around with a sign on my door saying "I'm Rich Bitch!"

This story is NOT complete!

There is a lot that is missing because this doesn't make sense. She is not an illegal. He beats the crap out of her yet walking round a free man and she concerned about him getting locked up obviously.

Something not right here.

Maybe its just me

Ok its shit like this that REALLY pisses me off. It does because these kinda guys get the loyal women and the guys who arent jerks like this guy get treated like trash.

I hear this kinda story all the damn time. And unfortunately women always go back to these kinda men.

Question: Instead of wasting more money why not refurbish/expand the one we currently have?

Seems like we just dont have a maintenance culture. Once we build a brand new airport and the facilities get exhausted due to lack of maintenance what next?

I agree, they are both wrong.

I just think she should have just broken it off first, taken sometime off then moved on. Instead of overlapping. Women make this BIG mistake. Now, if this new relationship fails, what's gonna happen is there would be EXTRA baggage because she really didnt give herself time to heal. What she did was trade in a set of problems because definitely there is no guarantee this new guy will marry her.

Ok, it annoys me when chicks say they didnt know such guys exist. There are many guys out there who are faithful and loyal, but they get passed up and used because they are not "exciting" enough.

My brother, please time will heal you biko. Trust me. The girl is a devious chick who like many girls out there, portray this good girl image to their families. I also blame her family for not being objective. They don't realize that they will destroy their daughter's life by being blind and biased.

Thank your God for the signs. What if you married this chick? What if you had kids with her? She would make your life a living hell. Sounds like the kinda chick that would cheat on you and poison your food. Ol' boy, you still dey eat her food? Make you no eat her food o!

But please stop being a fool for love. This chick has no conscience and really makes our naija sisters look like Jerry Springer hoes.

@ Mr Brown's comment

Some women will marry anyone as long as their marriage look right in the eyes of EVERYBODY ELSE.

I somewhat agree to this. But I think moreso that they might not just marry anyone, however marriage has become an "image" thing. Almost like, "all my friends are married or getting married." And unfortunately, seems like many women do put more time and effort into the wedding ceremony than the actual marriage itself.

@ PC Guru

I personally think they both cheated each other. There is no winner in the situation and the woman should hope that this guy she has been cheating with will marry her.

My friend's brother's is shocked that she can just do this after 17 years with no conscience at all. I try tell the bobo say akata no get conscience oo.
