The name ‘lie detector’ you may even learn is a misnomer and a big fact lie; because it detects absolutely zero lies and that, the name is just a marketing giggle.

Their true name is polygraph test and their methodology is based on a false premises that, deception have very unique measurable physiological patterns.

This premise is not based on any scientific fact, theory or evidence, because; there is no scientific evidence that any pattern of physiological reactions is unique to deception. An honest person may be nervous when answering truthfully and a dishonest person may be non-anxious when answering deceitfully.

These machines are very good for their entertainment values, especially in movies and as secondarily non-biding, non-legal documentaries for some organizations.

Aside from this been a reality TV for viewers entertainment, anyone who agreed to submit themselves to a lie detector test in order to proof a point are dumb as hell.

A lie detector test result can’t even be admitted in court and they prove absolutely nothing, except for the entertainment value.

They would have waited like 3hrs for his stupor to clear before teaching him a lesson.

He will not really feel anything if beaten while drunk, he will just feel the residual pains after a while when his drunken state must have cleared..... maximum effect would have been achieved by waiting.

What they were doing is legal and standard in the industry and they tendered their ID cards when asked.

They are also licensed by CBN to engaged in the activity. Even when EFCC could not reach Union bank, which is a third party company immediately...they would have at least reach CBN who is a sister agency and should be working hand-to-hand with them.

FYI, no matter how unseemly it might seem; someone engaging in a lawful activity can’t been deemed suspicious.

Also, even if you see someone engaging in suspicious activity, that is not enough to detain them and publicly label them as criminal...the last time I checked there is no law against ‘suspicious activity’ in the Nigeria criminal code.

EFCC would have still monitor and conduct their investigation without the public show of shame and only act, when they have articulated believe that a crime is either been committed or about to be committed.

These guys are doing some good work, but they need more training on how to do their job ethically and professionally.

The scale you are talking about that doctors use is a subjective measurement as it is not accurate. That is why Doctors ask you to tell them how much you are feeling the pain on a scale of 1 to 10 and they will start you off with low dose of painkillers and gradually increase the dosage if you still report that you are still feeling pains.

The only objective measure of pain was developed by scientists in early this decade and not even widely available or used. Also, that measurement is subjective across two individuals ie two people having same magnitude of pain don’t register at the same level on the scale because other biological and chemical components unique to each person interferes with how high the pain will manifest including our individual immune systems, which are first line of defense and which will try to smooth off the pains to the best of their abilities plus differing BMI, blood constitutes quantities, inherent sickness, etc.

Hence, a true measure is to use an objective measurement device on a single individual for both pain sources and the measures taken very close to each other, this way the variation introduced by our biological and chemical constitutes will be kept at minimum.

As no single individual on record, has been in a position to experience both kind of pains. So it is difficult to calibrate the varying degrees of pains from each act.

You nailed it, but the truth is your scenario about a fiancée or fiancé traveling on a non-immigration visa, with the hope of settling down and coming for the other is not the worst case.

The worse is for both spouses to travel together on a non immigration visa and hope to still remained married while also wanting to settle down in yakee.

This is a double jeopardy as both of them have represented that they are married unless one is lucky to adjust their status to one of those non immigration visas that have paths to citizenship e.g. H1b, R1, etc... the marriage will be tested in many unimaginable ways.

Triple the wahala if they made the mistake of traveling with their kids....as each weakness in that link e.g. yourself, your spouse or your kids can lead to all of you getting into trouble as the authorities can easily re-link everyone.

Also, your options are very limited e.g. getting arangee as you guys have to first go through divorce first before you can form any other legal relationship.

There are couples in similar problem now; the far easiest way to get your green card in the USA is to get marry to a citizen either arangee or true love and seeing you are already married; you have to first undo that marriage and if kids are involved, the court will ensure that they are supported by both parents, but a non immigrate visa holder is not suppose to obtain work or earn salary...good luck in telling that to the Judge, even in a no fault marriage with no assets; the the divorce settlement must account for how the kids will be supported and by who plus their medical insurance.

There are many twisted taggled web through which many couples in situations link these find their ways around these issues. The truth is, you will cut some illegal red tapes that may come back and bit you real hard because the exposure is way too much compare to if you had left your spouse back at home, go to USA and when settled come back and take them with you.

Bros, you are correct...but if you look at the highlight above, there is a lot of loophole.

My neighbor is very loud, even behind close doors, when they do it...You know what I mean, no expatiation needed...And they draw my attention, I just 'hold myself' and endure the torment....Does that mean what they are doing is illegal? I believe they can be cited for noise code violation, but not for indecent exposure.

The courts usually go with the layman test in situations like these and try to answer this question..."Will a layman reasonable expect privacy from where that act is been performed?'. If the answer is Yes, then it is not public and the law does not apply.

Therefore it can be argued that, I can do it in the open in the middle of the Sahara desert, bush, sea, inside my tinted car or with curtain, under curvet, uncompleted building, etc; as long as any layman will reasonable expect privacy, am clear....but, the truth is, this is only good on paper, I would want to test the limits of this legal theory, even with the best lawyers by my side. But, this shows that, both of the police officers are wrong in their responses, as the right answer is no grey and not black and blue as they are saying.

But, it still can be argue if car is public though.

The legal question here is, what is legally considered to be public? You might say, if it is protected from public view via e.g. tinted windows or curtain and no one outside can see the act, then it is not public...but, does that mean that, if am having sex in house, which is technically known as private, but my neighbor can see the act through my glass window or half closed curtains are we liable to be charged for indecent exposure?

Note that vehicles even though they might be on public roads are granted the same privacy as homes e.g. you need a search warrant or a probable cause to enter and search someone’s car just like you need one to search their home...Also, many people’s vehicle double as their home.
