Freiden:
I havent read any comment from a female on this ish that isn't bias.

I guess most of y'all ladies didn't read the part where the guy said he slapped his d¡ck....meaning he was able to control himself.

Men naturally get turned on by what they see. That's how we're made. If you wanna blame someone for that, blame God/nature.

Sometimes this young girls are so grown and with developed body that you start to doubt their age.

If a man gets turned on by a fully grown kid, I see no crime in that....he would only be committing a crime if he fails to control his sexual urge towards such a kid.

However, he should have kept his thoughts to himself to avoid this public crucification.... I hope this won't come to hunt him in future......because people are good at digging up shit no matter how old it is.
Oh pls. all these excuses are silly. should an adult be aroused by a child? a child is a child and has a lot of mental growth to do. ..an 11 year old is just starting puberty so enough of all this "she is developed".
should a man be turned on by every woman he sees? if not why then should he be turned on by an 11 year old?
I guess a father should avoid his 12 year old daughters because "she is developed" and one look at her turns him on....whats ur say to that? if a father knows to not "turn on" for his daughter - whom he loves then why should men out there be "turned on" for children?

You see a mother wearing her 5year old girl a skirt that is not up to the childs kneel level and a dress that exposes her little breast and tomorrow you expect that child to dress properly? Of course it is impossible.

I don't really blame the guy,hes just voicing the tot of most guys.... The level of indecent dressing between young adolescent are on the rise.....sometimes you try to imagine how there parents grant them freedom to leave the house looking like whores.....

The guy dicck statement might be out of line but the truth is rape is really on the high...

It may sound unfortunate but its like the ladies from age 10 above are the ones encouraging it with indecent clothing's..

Gone are the days when a lady in Long skirt or gown looks gorgeous

But seriously, i'm amazed at the level of un awareness of parents who claim to be educated or elites, and allow their pre-teen and teenage daughters dress in some unhealthy manner. It beats my imagination.
so the parents of the rapist have no blame here, we blame the child and her parents.

are you people insane? this is africa, and not too long ago young children and old women move around top less yet rape was very rare

toyinakomolafe:
It does not necessarily connote that olukere is the ruler but He is the first to settle. Kingship is never about who settled first like the case of Benin, ife, Itshekiri etc where migrants came to establish kingdom. In the case of Ife, oduduwa met people there, Yoruba established monarchy in Benin and Benin established monarchy in Itshekiri land. same with Ikere, Kingdom was established by Ogoga.
Egbon, that title "olukere" is very powerful. .. There's a reason the Alaafin is called "Oloyo" and the Ooni "Olufe".. Olubadan

if ogoga established Ikere, two things should have happened
1. the town changes name
2. the olukere will not still be claiming kingship as "olu of Ikere"

in Benin, ife there were civil wars to establish the new dynasties. with itsekiri, there was no king.
Ikere had a king, ogoga would have used military might to usurp authority but no records of such. ..rather he started as a person who assisted the olukere in administrative duties. .while olukere took to spiritual duties
and don't start belittling the role of a traditional spiritual leader..cus Obaship contains both aspects of leadership.

Actually, names with 'mo' in Igboland especially in Delta Igbo axis are very common and is often a short spelling of 'mmuo' meaning 'spirit'. Names like mokwunye, modebe, mozere (may the spirit intercede), enemmo etc. are quite common in Anioma. On the eastern flank, 'mmuo' bearing names in full are more common i.e. mmuodebe, enemmuo, ilommuo etc.
You fail to see the point. ur igbo Mozere doesn't mean anything like the Olukumi "Mozere". ..which means the same thing when rendered as "Mojere" in yoruba.. that is "I've been favored"

even the name "Olukumi" means same in all yoruba dialects which includes Olukumi dialect...

Uncle Lawani, you need to pump your brakes with this Oluwo thesis.

The only name close to Oluwo is Luwoo and she was an Ooni many years after Oduduwa had long gone.

It is obvious your knowledge of Yoruba is on the surface, I intentionally didn't drop the bomb on the actual woman Oduduwa impregnated, I waited with hopes you would come back with it but you didn't. It tells me a lot I needed to know.

The woman Oduduwa impregnated was Orunto, this is the family where the Obalufe is picked and my paternal grandma is from the Jaojo line of the 4 lines of the compound.

Drop this Oluwo already and quit giving it unnecessary rendition.

Ife, with or without the Europeans was never going to decline. If it would, the exit of Oduduwa's sons and the passing of Oduduwa would have placed Ife in the coffin of decline. The rise of Bini, Oyo, Ijesa, Ekiti, Ibadan and the incessant Modakeke beef would have brought about or hasten Ife's decline, yet it still stands and her relevance stays reverberating all over the world even in the academia.

I don't know why you keep bandying the 're-incarnation' idea.
Everyone in my compound, depending on your level of depth in Obatala worship or knowledge of Oogun gets called all types of names. One of my uncles who passed recently was called Aje Orisa (Obatala was called that), does this mean a reincarnation? No. You can pick up whatever name suits you and choose to be called/known by it.

The Ogun that reigned after Oduduwa was Obatala's son, likewise Obalufon 1 and Obalufon 2. Obamakin was Obalufon's brother.

Issuing orders does not necessarily mean political, it leans much more towards military. Timi of Ede issued orders, does this make the seat of timi much more politically relevant than that of Ife or put it at peer with Ibadan seat? No.

Owu's original site was Owu Ipole beside Apomu, the ruins are there. It was from here they moved to Ibadan and other places.
I co-researched Owu history with someone so I'm well aware of the details.

Whatever child Orunto birthed by Oduduwa did not ascend the throne.

Thank you sir.

Go research Orunto if you have contact in Ife traditional circles.
I'm still shocked over this Obatala/Ogun relationship. . I've always told you Obalufon was a son of Obatala, you didn't believe cheesy

Adimula would be the son of Orunto. .I'm I right?

I would also rephrase my question as you never answer it:

Question 1:
If you go to Ife today, you would be shown the spot were Oranmiyan was laid to rest. A shrine has been built there not far from where the Obelisk of Oranmiyan stands.
Why did Oranmiyan choose to return to Ife, and reign as the Ooni, despite your claim that going to Ife was demeaning for him?

Question 2:
In 1903 before the formation of Nigeria, why did the other obas reject the Alaafin as judge or the Awujale (since the tussle was in Ijebu domain), but requested for a King in the Yoruba Hinterland, to help settle the dispute involving Elepe of Epe and the Akarigbo of Ijebu-Remo over Elepe’s right to wear a beaded crown?

Question 3:
If Alaafin(Oba Adeyemi Lamidi) was the youngest of the grandsons of Oduduwa, Why are his elder brothers like the Orangun (Oba Adedeji Oyedotun), Omo N'Oba(Erediauwa), Olowu(Adegboyega Amororo) e.t.c not claiming superiority?
If Alaafin Adeyemi was claiming superiority based on ancient or past Military conquest, then the Olubadan should be claiming superiority too over the Alaafin, since Ibadan later became an authority with military strength, or the Ekiti parapo that later defeated the Ibadan during the kiriji war.

Question 4:
How can the Alaafin appoint an Ooni, when he was not even the oldest of Oduduwa's lineage? Can the Olowu appoint an Ooni?
Also Oduduwa himself was an Ooni, so how can a lesser king appoint someone to an higher throne? Can the Olota of Ota appoint the Olu of Ilaro(paramount ruler of Yewaland)?

Question 5:
This is no struggle at all. The picture shows someone bowing to an higher authority. Why is that so?
Note: Oba Lamidi Adeyemi became an Oba in 1970.
Oba Aderemi was governor between 1960 and 1962.
This is no struggle as you claimed in your post?

Since you dodged the first set of questions by giving us a ''tales by moonlight story'' of an unknown woman and her slave child, I decided to add two more questions. wink

Question 6:
What has Oyo got to show as Oranmiyan's legacy (his sacred staff - Opa - and tombs are still in Ile Ife today)?

Question 7:
If Alaafin is superior to Oonife, why did Alaafin Aole(Awole), during the time of Oyo's military reign, commit suicide (having committed unpardonable sacrilege) after attacking a town directly under Ile Ife?
grin grin grin grin Egbon you'll kill someone with these questions o

This is why supreme kings do not use Oba but rather some other appellation, sometimes derived from the name of their domain?

Have you ever attempted a rendition of Omo Oluwo ni into how it fits into Ooni as against Ooni o ni ile?

Did you keep in mind that Ogun to Obalufon II were of Obatala's dynasty?

Wrong history @ the emboldened.

Two brothers vied for the throne.

Otutu and Olowoyelu from the line of Lafogido.

Otutu was the younger brother but he was picked to fill the office of Ooni.

Olowoyelu the older brother was angered by this and decided to leave Ife.

A hunter (can't recall his name) had him and his followers settled at Iwara, he became king and used the title of Ooni as well.

Which was later changed to Olufewara and was then changed to Adimula of Ifewara.

Otutu is one of the royal lines in Ife today and they produced Ademiluyi.

The "omo oluwo ni" was what rev Johnson cooked up on page 24 of his book. I have never heard of that story from any other yoruba history or source.
Well researched journals and articles have been written after rev Johnson's book, and non acknowledges the omo oluwo theory.

It's also funny the book never acknowledged that Oduduwa met Obatala at Ife, rev johnson believed omo oluwo's mother was meant to be sacrificed to Obatala.lol.
the "Omo Oluwo ni" Saga is just one of the few things I don't disagree with Samuel Johnson

I was first told by a babalawo from Oyo that after Olofin (that is Oduduwa) there was another civil war between the house of Oduduwa and Obatala and at that time the heir of Oduduwa(my guess is Ogun) had no child until he almost sacrificed a slave woman who happened to be pregnant for him. ..the child grew up to contend for his father's throne but other family members rejected him saying "Omo Oluwo ni" Oluwo the slave of many years ago. .. at Obokun I confirmed the story as the Owa Obokun Ajibogun was said to have invited him and gave him a land known as Ifewara today.

so subsequent Obas at Ife became known as Omo Oluwo ni = Ooni

It is healthy to have doubts but accounts are accounts. That someone is Aromolaran does not mean he knows history. You know history only if you are interested in it enough to study it and analyse it. I did not make any of the accounts up. I got them from books and from oral accounts in Ilesa. Not everybody is interested and you can not analyse what you are not interested in. I don't believe the Mecca story was made up or the Waddai story of the Awujale. People who think their ancestors are primitive and foolish have such beliefs.
