Bobbyaf:
So being religious doesn't allow one to be scientifically qualified and competent to produce evidence for creation?
Where is your scientific and competent EVIDENCE for creationism? Please provide them.

Which is true by virtue of their own confession of not accommodating that the universe has a central point. Now you tell me who is hiding something from the students? If anything there are being audacious before the Creator. Now since you're some bright alleck tell the fora why the galaxies are not expanding. Tell us why our galaxy isn't expanding? The only time the universe expands is  when the Creator makes it expands, and in this case our galaxy was the last addition to what was already there before. In their attempt to explain the doppler effect they came up with an expanding set of galaxies which doesn't make sense.
How do you know that there is a creator in the first place? what makes you think that the universe must behave like the human society? who created the creator?

I quite agree with you but this time they have made so much of a blunder that their pride will not allow them to confess their folly. I am yet to see an explosion that brings out order, or design. Wasn't the big bang some sort of explosion that supposedly began the universe? How boring!  grin
Its a plausible theory at least, what are your own evidence of the creation of the universe as recorded in the 2 different creation accounts in genesis 1 and 2? The bible says in the beginning god created the heaven and the earth, what does that tell you? You should expect creationism to have some scientific evidence no?

I wish you'd stop making yourself sound so silly. That Roman must have been a genius. How do you explain that the bible pronounced the earth was round long before any scientists came to that knowledge? How do you explain that modern archeology confirmed that the biblical figures that were once thought to be fictitious were indeed real personages that existed. Even their language and culture were found in unearthed tablets. Where did this Roman acquire such knowledge might I ask? I could go on,
the bible says NO such thing, pls stop lying for jesus. instead we have the bible saying that the sun moves from place to place.

@ Tudor

Christians don't really deny the existence of large animals at all ever having existed. The confusion rests with the time we say they existed, and what destroyed them versus what the advocates of evolution hold.

Noah's flood happened to have destroyed them since it covered the earth. No life form survived except those that entered the huge ship that Noah built. There is ample evidence to explain the universal flood. Just look at the fossil formations and you will notice that the larger animals were found at the top including the bones of dinosaurs. These large beasts were able to climb up to the highest points in order to escape the flood, while the smaller animals perished.
There is absolutely NO evidence for a universal flood. creationists don't understand mountains basically. they find fossils in the tops of mountains and think that that is proof of noah's flood. now why they're in the mountain tops instead of on the mountain tops is something they rarely answer at all.

Ever heard about the K-T boundary? Its a layer of sediment all over the earth. All the fossils of dinosaurs and other extinct creatures happened to have been found below the sediment layer, and never above. How come? MOre and more scientists are becoming convinced that the Bible is as accurate as it comes.
less and less scientist are now sticking to the myth of the noah's flood. . . it NEVER happened where are your scientific evidence for it? all you guys have are assumption based on your opinion and not actual proof, evidence, or facts. you can't prove that the great flood ever happened yet it has been proven, scientifically, that it's impossible on a world-wide scale. and, for the ark to hold 2 of each animal, it'd have to be as big as a Continent (or bigger) to do such a thing. not only is there the problem of how do you get all of the species of land animals into the ark, the primitive people who created the flood myth in the first place, in the fourth millennium B.C. or whenever, they didn't realize that plants were living things, and they didn't realize the implications of noah not taking fishes and marine organisms into the ark. . . . .

If we limit ourselves to just the water that is known on the planet, and the volume of sedimentary strata that we know of, and if as the creationists claim, all these sedimentary strata were deposited during that one year, the ocean at that time would have been actually two parts water to one part mud. now, if that were the case, with a world-destroying flood, how would the whales have stayed alive?. . . .  they could not have been swimming through, straining out plankton and so on, to feed. delicate corals die if there is just the tiniest bit of silt in the water, or change in water temperature, and so forth. so noah would have to have had enormous numbers of aquarium in the ark to keep the whales going, to keep the marine fishes from dying because of the dilution of the salt water with fresh water, to keep the fresh water organisms alive because of the salt coming in, and all these noxious things that the volcano are throwing out. . . . . . incidentally, if all the volcanic lava beds that we see interspersed between these sedimentary rocks were laid down during one year, the amount of heat released from that lava would have heated the water of the ocean to several thousand degrees centigrade. . .  and so noah's ark would have had to have been air-conditioned.

creationists believe that the world was drowned, was destroyed by a flood, a world-wide flood just a few thousand years ago. now that's something that supposedly happened in the past, but we certainly can test that today. we can go and look at the continents. we can see where the continents have been eroded. We know that falling water erodes,  . . . . . we can calculate how much water had to fall in the amount of time given to drown the whole world and drown it all the way up to the top of mount everest. We realize that wouldn't be rain, that would be hydraulic mining. and we wonder then, why isn't every river valley on the continent of north america the size of the grand canyon? . . . . . . why are not all the sedimentary rocks distributed equally around the margins of every continent?. . . . . . .  we should have the continents completely denuded. you see, we can test these things. these hypotheses about the past are testable in the present. You creationist have to prove that light does not refract when it comes in contact with water droplets or moisture prior to the noah flood. since the bible says that rainbow first appeared after the noah's flood as a sign of covenant. . . . . .

omo yoruba:
As a 23 year old living extremely comfortable in London,  i couldn't believe what i experienced before my very eyes.

This horrific scene as definitely made me realise that this world is something else.

We are all familiar with all the voodoo that happens in Nigeria movies.

Read my story,

I live in the south east of London, and one day whilst at an ex friends house, he had some people over, and they started playing with knives.

To my surprise 2 of them began stabbing themselves, with a 10 inch kitchen knife. They were puncturing themselves in the heart, and in the chest, whilst also

deeply impaling the knife into their hands

To my horror, not a single drop of blood came out,  I thought i was running mad, or they were simply fucking about.

Another instance 2 days after i happened to be on a bus, where a fight broke out. One of those boys previously in the house got

stabbed in the stomach, which left a lot of blood coming out.

You wouldnt believe that one of these guys got up, rubbed his stomach, and the blood and wounds dissapeared.

I know crazy shit happens in this world that we live in but can someone pls tell me how dis sort of thing can happen.

They say all in the name of protection and long life, Surely there must be a curse related to this, or some sort of sacrifice.

Im totally lost, and gobsmacked, as this is absolutely against the will of God!!

I have since seperated myself from that group,

Has anyone experienced or seen similar occurences, or does anyone have any information.  I cant get that scene out of my mind,
What nonsense crap is this? huh huh Perharps the poster was hallucinating. NOTHING like this happens in the real world except in dreams, show me a person that rub his wound and make them disappear immediately and i will give you 10,000 dollars I am VERY serious.

O my gads! Almost ignited armageddon. Advice is to cringe as I await the reply of the others. The presence of Christ truly brings out the antichrist vent in atheists. Mazaje's so full of questions and confusions. The reason why Jesus is the way is because He is the way. Now before that throws you off the chair, let me add that true followers of Christ have KNOWN Christ. They've experienced the new life. Its a definite experience and change. Others around have seen a real transformation as to agree that this one has received something (in this case Jesus).
I'm not against knowledge. Its just that you have the wrong knowledge. You remind of sometime ago when I was to write an exam. There was this mate who wasn't reading with us, who said his brain was full. He went on to fail although his brain was full. Thats why I'm telling you not to be too full of yourself and of 'knowledge'. What you know and you're so full of may not even be part of the syllabus. If you'll humble yourself and give room/space for real knowledge, you'll be saved from the wrath to come. The serpent I'm alluding to is the Devil who has stung men with sin. Your Bible knowledge is so poor, yet you try to force your views about it on others. You can read Matthew 5v3 and more if perhaps it would give you some tranquility.
i at least know the history of the bible, how it was put together by people voting on what they decided to call the word of god and what they decided not to call the word of god. i also know that most of the alleged authors of the bible NEVER wrote any thing in the bible and i know that there was no bible until after about 350years after the death of jesus. the gospels were written at least 40-90years after the alleged events the were narrating, by non eye witness. paul letters were written before about 20 years before the first gospel and all the gospels were written based on pauls reflection and defination of who jesus was, the jesus he NEVER meet in person.

most of the epistels were second centuary forgeries who were written by very educated greek speaking christians not the illetrate disciples of jesus who was just an ordinary person that was later turned into a deity by paul and his cronies. by the way if the bible were divinely inspired, and expected to be believed by reasonable people, you would certainly expect it to be in line with what you learn through scientific methodinstead all you have is faith(delusion) and no evidence for any of its assertions at all. let me say this again ,the case for christianity is only logical and reasonable to the person who has faith (based on NO facts) that everything about it is true.

its bad to hear, but you're in chains. Don't sit in darkness, Jesus can save you. All you need to do is believe that he can save you and invite him to save you. You've tied your love and life to a man, thats why you're almost dying and 'running mad'. The best of your love should be for God, to love the Lord your God with All your heart and All your soul and ALL your might. After that, others can fall in including yourself. That's the Bible manual, thats what can keep you from being moved or having a 'heart heavy with pain'. As you give your life to Christ, allow Him to guide you in your next relationship, so that you don't FALL in love again.
how have you said anything that has made any sense? huh huh huh huh.

John 3v14,15
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up. That whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Herein lies the basis for being a Christian. In there is why we all must be christians. Judgement is coming on the human race. The human race has being, as it were, bitten by the serpent and set to perish. But Jesus Messiah has come to save us ALL. What we should all do is to look and live, look to Jesus lifted up on the cross and live.
Complaining about why we were allowed to be bitten, and postulating theories and laws will not save us from our present predicament. What will save us is to look up and live. Its not difficult to look up. It doesn't cost anything. Don't be fooled by pride. How is it that the cure is simply to look up and someone is too proud to look up, and would rather die angry with God and with Moses! Beats me. Don't be full of yourself and knowledge.
what is all this drivel? grin huh how has this made any sense? the human race have been bitten by a snake eh? can you see how delusional you are? what evidence do you have that it's the god of the bible and that belief in jesus christ saves you from divine wrath? what if it's allah? what if it's Zeus? what if it's buddah? why are all religions so anti knowledge? why is the biblegod so afraid and angry with knowledge?

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of God.
and i say blessed are the foolish and the gullible who can not reason for themselves for they shall continue to live in fear. by the way did your god tell you this himself or did you just read it somewhere? why does god have to be a he? do you remember anything before your were born? sure you don't, then why do speak as if you know what was happening when everything came into existence? do you have video tape?

Accept that which is proven based on consistent evidence and is of utilitarian value, acknowledge the fact that some things are unexplained at present but will likely be as human knowledge evolves. It is basically an acknowledgement that mankind at present does not know everything.

I don't form an habit of going to church but I can go, it actually could be a source of cheap/free comedic entertainment you know?

Yes atimes, I do pray when I'm at my wits end but I acknowledge my prayers for what it is, a relic of my christian upbringing and just in case god is really out there (I also like having my bases covered).

I wouldn't baptise my children, even the christians aren't agreed on that. They can get baptized in the future if they want to anyway.

Being terminally uncertain does not influence my major decisions in any way, I take decisions within the factual information available to me and leave the rest to probability (time and chance according to the bible).

Being sincerely uncertain is in no way a religion, it is simply a state of being which can either be rejected or accepted.

Can you ever be truly "happy" as an atheist? Believe you me at some point i started to ignore the church, packed my bibles neatly somewhere and tried to move on with a life without rules . . . turned out to be the saddest periods of my life.
this is the biggest problem i have with most theists. . . .they believe that atheist are ALL EVIL people grin grin. do you need to believe in god to be a good person? goodness without god is not only good enough, but better than a religious morality because  belief in god does not guarantee morality all i know is that religious texts are too outdated to be useful in deciding contemporary ethical problems. . . . . . instead humans need to use their intelligence to identify common moral principles according to which ethical dilemmas can be resolved.  if the reason why you are moral or good is because you believe in god, then you have not developed the full dimensions of the human personality. moral development is autonomous. many of the atheist countries have less crime and less violence than theist countries.(norway, sweden, finland, holland, denmark)

It all depends on how you define "happiness". The bible says extremely little about happiness, it focuses MOSTLY on JOY because both are clearly NOT the same. You can be happy for a fleeting moment but have no joy in you. Having fun is not the same as being happy.
I am VERY happy with my atheistic view and it gives me all the comfort i need, i also believe that happiness here and now is the basic good for all humans, this life is not simply the preparation for an afterlife which there is NO evidence for. for me life is very meaningful. the meaning of life is what we invest in. as bindex pointed out in his early post if the bible and all the joy it promises is true then you will expect christians to be the  happiest people who have the most positive out look to life or you should expect christians to be amongst those who feel the most positive about their lives but instead atheist come out on top. That is not to say that atheist are the happiest people but just to show that christians are VERY wrong when they assert that without Jesus life is misreable and completely without happiness. That seems to be the attitude of most christians

No i don't. I do concede, of course, that there are things about the Earth and about the Universe that we can’t explain. But I don’t think these unexplained phenomena are sufficient to give rise to an inference of supernatural causation. Just 1000 years ago, we couldn’t explain lightning, earth quakes or why maggots seemed to form spontaneously on rotting meat, or why the other planets seemed to zigzag across the sky, or why human beings have a coccyx, or why the rainbow appears in the sky or countless other everyday phenomena. And 1000 years ago, people ascribed those events to God or to their various Gods.

Since then, however, we’ve developed very good and empirical explanations for these things and by extension I’m not ready to go with a “god of the gaps” for the remaining things we don’t understand today. I don’t see anything conceptually that requires a god for explanation.

The bottom line is that this simply does not look like the kind of world, in the kind of universe, which was created and is watched over by an all-loving God for the benefit of his special creation. I thus conclude that the third line of objections to my general case for atheism does not warrant belief in God as an explanation for the existence of this universe.
Very well said toneyb. . , .

Typical with these fools . . . shift the goalposts as soon as their crass ignorance is exposed. First the problem was that the canaanites were simply innocent people wrongfully dispossessed of their land . . . all of a sudden its now about "why shld you kill unbelievers"
how were the canaanites guilty? what was their offence? worshipping other gods? is it not the same thing you fools accuse allah of doing in the koran? do you fools not call allah a wicked and evil deity for telling his people to kill unbelievers? why are you guys shifting the goal post when it comes to your own god huh huh, what is the difference between what your god commanded his chosen men to do and what allah commanded his own chosen men to do? when has worshipping other gods or doing abominable things unto the tribal god of the jews warrant people to be killed and destroyed completely? why are christians not killing unbelievers today? deluded goon. . . . .delusion at its finest

Well simple answer - Before the crucifiction of Christ everyone was under the law of sin and death - the soul that sinneth IT SHALL DIE. Achan was a jew but the day he was caught pilfering from the people of Ai he was instantly put to death. That was the law then, we are not in a position to argue that.
well simply before the jews knew better when they were primitive and savages every body was under their sword.  . . .as toneyb said the soul that rebels must be put to death. disobedient children were to be stoned to death, naughty women were to be stoned to death, people that will not stay in line were all to be put to death. . . when they knew better their god also knew better and changed. . .from his evil ways. . .the bible was written by human beings, so davidylan has no examples of a god giving any moral commands. all he has is  an ancient society deciding what actions are anti-social, and  ancient humans deciding what actions are humane and inhumane, acceptable and unacceptable and ascribing it to their god like every other society that have a god do.

Now we are under the law of grace . . . which is the reason you can still post and go to bed in peace tonite. 4000 yrs ago you probably would have been struck with leprosy right there like Miriam or found the same fate as the sons of Korah.
yahweh causes leprosy eh? tell yahweh that he should pls pls pls send leprosy to me in the next 2 mins just to show you that he is a living god. . .tell yahweh to infect me with leprosy in the next 2 minutes or else. . . .you goons believe that imaginary deities infect people with disease and you get angry like toneyb has said when people call you fools. 4000 years ago your infidel ancestors would have been killed and their lands pillaged if they were living any where close to the ancient jews. . . 4000 years ago your female virgin relatives would have been sacrificed as burnt offering to yahweh the tribal god of the ancient jews. . . .4000 years ago you would have probably been enslaved and live all your miserable life in slavery under the divine injunctions of yahweh if your tribe was living any were close to the jews who were chosen by their god. . .deluded fool. . . . .

@ toneyb what  more do you expect from a deluded apologist? I believe he did not even bother to read your post at all. Why did his tribal and dangerous god change his ways and laws when the old testament says that the laws were PERFECT?

Psalms 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple
Is it because the people that invented him saw that he was a good for nothing deity that they decided to create another deity and leave the incompetent old testament god that promised to protect them so many times but failed? they had to create a new deity that will be universally accepted? The OT doesn't count any more, except for the parts about gay sex being an abomination. adam and eve. And noah. and the ten (or however many) commandments. and any other part they like to pick chose and throw around. their faces turns red when they hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but they don't even flinch when they hear how god/yahweh slaughtered all the babies in the mostly unprovoked wars and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in joshua including innocent women, children. instead they try to justify it as a good thing. . . . deluded goons. . . . . .

it has made me change from born again christian to a  muslim cos am not confortable with how a fourteen yrs old teenager"Ishmael" will be left untouched and then an infant Isaac then carried the wood for burntoffering and start asking his dad question such as why this and that daddy Abraham, also about paul and his teaching concerning virgins, he said hes not inspired by God but talking from his own understanding, imagine, and so so many contraditions, Thank God for the Quran
if this is what made you leave christianity then i can tell you that you were never a christian at all. . . by the way how is the koran better than the bible? were most of the stories in the koran not plagiarized from the hebrew bible?

We can never know God, he is ineffable, but it never stops a theist from trying to explain. The theist says we can not know who God is but he spends most of his time explaining to people who his God is grin grin so funny.
god works in mysterious ways = i have no idea. . . . . .

God operates in mysterious ways. If only God could release the memos that detail how effective the mysterious ways were  grin. During the time that I attended church, whenever I questioned any of the atrocities that were initiated by God like God telling people to tell lies or steal and the unprovoked killing of the women and children of the Canaanite, The Jebusites ,(All the non Jews that lived close to the Jews) and all the other meaningless slaughter that were commanded by God in the bible of innocent babies and other people I was looked at pitifully and told that God was love but He was also a just God.Whatever that meant. As if killing babies for crimes they never committed was justice. I still find it hard to believe how people associate the God of the old testament with love.
Kai dan duniya. . .hau yahoo ko facebook mu sha labari. . . .the usual excuse of "metaphor" for most biblical stories (which are never agreed upon universally by christians) as an excuse for some of the stories that do not have historical or scientific backings or which do not even make any sense at all. like most of the unfathomable atrocities of yahweh the tribal and warrior god of the jews and his chosen men. . . . .

What i learnt though is that atheists make a fundamental but completely fallacious mistake . . . that simply because they dont believe in a God they are automatically intellectually better than the rest of the world. A few threads here is enough to correct that impression. Ever since the departure of nferyn . . . we are yet to see another self-proclaimed atheist that can accurately marshall a point without the aid of copy-pasting from the web.
grin grin look who is talking. . . atheist at least copy and paste what they agree with. . . when caught in a tight position you go to fellow christian apologist websites copy and paste their works, which do not even agree with ur statements only to for you to be caught changing position  all over the place what a shame. . . what this religion section has shown me is that posters like davidylan, noetic, Oladegbuu, osisi are the most ridiculous set of hypocrites on nairaland. . . they spend all their time pointing out the evil atrocities of allah and scientific mistakes in the koran when their own god and the writers of the bible do not know any better than the writers of the koran . . . .fear as some one has pointed out is the driving force that makes people believe in most of this nonsense. . .

@OLAADEGBU

since you are trying to provide meaningless scientific points to support the noah's flood you also have to prove scientifically that light did not refract as it enters the surface of water droplets or raindrop  prior to Noah’s flood. . . . Since refraction of light causes rainbow. . .because the bible says rainbows first appeared as a covenant between the noah and his god after the flood. . .you have to prove to us scientifically that it is true. . .

ran away? ran away from what?
you ran away from the  many many lies you have been spewing on the other thread. . .once you had been exposed you took off

Quote from noetic: I can speak for Christians. perfection is impossible, that's why we are given GRACE.
only that you are lying or you pick and choose what passage of the bible to believe in as you all do. . .because that is not what ur bible says. .

Matthew 5:48 "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect,
you can as well answer the questions here.
i already did. . . on the other thread. . . if you want me to answer again then go ask on the other thread. . .

You've got to know the difference between proof and evidence. Science and the language of science which is mathematics can be used to show the evidence of the Creator God, then you come to your own conclusions as to whether the uncreated Creator exists or that is a higher power but to prove that God exists can only be made by experience which in this case is by faith. Can you prove to me that Charles Darwin ever lived?
where you not also try to prove the existence of the christian god using mathematics on some other thread some months ago? grin grin. . . .charles darwin has pictures. . left behind a lot of writings and what not. . .

stop copying rubbish from apologist sites that have no evidence what so ever. . . .

OLAADEGBU:
According to the Biblical records, the Exodus occurred 480 years before Solomon laid the foundations of his temple at Jerusalem (1 Kings 6:1). This would place the Exodus about 1446 BC. God’s covenant with Abraham was 430 years earlier (Exodus 12:40, Galatians 3:16, 17) about 1850 BC. From the ages of his predecessors back to Noah, given in Genesis 12 and 13, it can be calculated that the great universal flood occurred 427 years earlier, about 2302 BC. But according to most authorities on Egyptian chronology the pyramids were built about 1550 BC, and the first dynasty of Egypt ruled about 3100 BC.23

that is because you believe that there was a global flood that has NO scientific evidence what so ever. . .there was never a global flood only in the imaginations of the writer of the legend of noah. . . .history and science does not support any thing that is written in exodus. . . mass migration, israeliets as slaves most of the wars after the exodus etc. . .
