Ok Mr know-it-all, what do u call those?
stage acting is what i call them, hey if miracles really work we won't be having this conversation, have you ever asked yourself why such "miracles" of raising the dead, healing the blind, the deaf, curing cancer on stage etc only occur in africa? reinard bonkke once claimed to have raised a nigerian pastor from death, please tell him to go and try such a gimmick in germany his home country and lets see what will happen to him. grin grin grin miracles indeed. when pastor chris oyhkilome's wife fell sick why did he take her to the hospital? why did'nt he "heal" her with his supernatural powers even when some of his church members claim that she was attacked by the "devil"? you guys are just too funny.

The Bible said it all ' my people (not atheist, mazaje and co) perish for lack of knowledge'

How can any true knowledgeable christian believe this hallucination or day dream as reveleation from God .
It's really apaulling that so many so called christians know so little about what they claim to believe in.

One dude in Lagos wrote a book (for sale of course) on God taking on a tour guide of heaven and showing him a refinery in Nigeria. And that God said He put oil underground and owns it and theri will be wealth transfer to His children (for what i don't know since they are soon going to heaven) yada yada,

I wonder if those boys too were taken on tour and saw oil and refineries
And am sure a christian living in southern France on heavenly tour will see vintage champagne cellars and massive olive trees
grin grin grin moslems have their own books about heaven and hell just the way christains have theirs. that says a lot about all those imaginary places. the posters narrative just goes a long way in proving that heaven and hell are really imaginary. if not to sell books, or gain fame i wonder what the writer/writers of this story set out to achive. this story is pure bull. but yet there are millions that not only believe in it but will buy copies and give to friends and family and regard the writer as divine. this is pure fiction.

Your patience is enviable.lol. The problem is that you may not even reply for days now.you and huxley have a hobby of pasting or posting things and abandoning them.maybe your source of inspiration is the same anyway.firstly,I'll like you to know that God is not a magician. He's God.he doesn't work miracles at your whim to show off.He HARDLY manifests in situations of unbelief. He's not obliged to.He's God.It's your cup of hell if you don't believe Him.He usually responds to the HUMBLE and believing, not the skeptical. If you want to hear testimony and miracle,I think there's a thread on that right on nairaland.go and read.perhaps it may even lift your faithless heart with some faith.on 2nd thoughts, let me just tell you about this one miracle.I know of a girl,I still saw her yesterday. Some years ago,she had a problem with her leg.One leg started becoming shorter than the other visible for all to see.She went to hospitalS,at Igbobi(its a popular place for bone issues in lagos),they built her a shoe to make the legs look equal and gave her crutches.the leg continued growing shorter and she was told that she had to cut it.well, she took the case to God in prayer with her church members.within weeks, the leg grew back.she's walking normally today, she can run.I still saw her yesterday.that event was not natural, she used No drug, she got what is called a miracle.I'll be sharing another miracle on the thread 'Today's Rhema' tomorrow incase you're interested.miracles do happen.miracles of healing, provision, protection and so on.Of course there are people who spread fake miracles but it doesn't change the fact of existence of genuine miracles.

Christian Minister Converts to Islam

A minister of the Methodist Church, complete with a degree in divinity, author of many publications - choses ISLAM.
His former congregation wants to know, "Why?"

Former minister (deacon) of the United Methodist Church. He holds a Master's degree in Divinity from Harvard University and a Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Denver. Author of The Cross and the Crescent: An Interfaith Dialogue between Christianity and Islam (ISBN 1-59008-002-5 - Amana Publications, 2001). He has published over 60 articles in the field of clinical psychology, and over 150 articles on Arabian horses

Read his story in his own words:

One of my earliest childhood memories is of hearing the church bell toll for Sunday morning worship in the small, rural town in which I was raised. The Methodist Church was an old, wooden structure with a bell tower, two children's Sunday School classrooms cubbyholed behind folding, wooden doors to separate it from the sanctuary, and a choir loft that housed the Sunday school classrooms for the older children.

the crux is that the bible is a spiritual book and you do not understand spiritual things.whether one book is more spiritual than the bible or not is insignificant.even if the bible was the least spiritual of spiritual books, you can't really understand it until you're CONVERTED.I said its like trying to teach your dog A-Z.it just would not comprehend.
Please can you tell mazaje to stop copying and pasting explanations of books he doesn't believe in.that doesn't sound logical(putting forward explanations and research for things that you do not believe exist but are just fairy tales).Does he believe those scripture passages, and his pasted explanations or is he confused?
let me repeat all i do here is show you guys that your religion was rigged and is not really what it appears to be. i don't believe in the books just the way so many christains do not believe in the koran but the keep on attacking the book endlessly trying to prove to the moslems that their belief is false, the same thing is what i do here. the bible is full of deliberate mistranslation when it comes to the prophecy of jesus in the OT. why are you still spweing the silly christain mantra that the bible is only spritually discerned? can you spiritually tell me why the writer of matthew deliberately mistranslated young woman in to virgin?

as i aforementioned all you have done is spin draw, biuld straw man after straw man and believe that you have made your point. all you have to your defence is that the people wrote to difference audiences but you still haven't explained to me how writing to different people explains all the contradictions in the narrative for example we have john wanting jesus to be the pascal lamb of passover so he has jesus being crucified on the 14th of nissan (the day before passover) and the synoptic pospels all stating it was on the 1st day of passover and the last supper being the passover seder.  this is a monumental and irreconcilable discrepancy.

there is also controversy over the time (9am vs 12noon), who bore the cross on the way to golgotha prior to crucifixion (jesus himself or simon a cyrenian), did the two brigands crucified with him believe in him (yes, one did in luke 23:39-41, no, mark 15:32 and Matthew 27:44), his last words on the cross, (john "It is finished", mark and matt. "my god, my god, why have you forsaken me? ((which is like saying "myself, myself, why have i forsaken me?"wink) or luke, "father, into your hands I commit my spirit"wink.  did roman soldiers guard the tomb? (yes in matt 28:4 or no in John 20:1) and on and on,

matthew uniquely add details (unknown to the other gospels) that an angel rolled back a rock from in front of the tomb, a guard was present at the tomb, the veil of the temple was torn in two accompanied by an earthquake, and amazingly, many dead bodies of jewish saints in jerusalem were also resurrected and walked around the city.

sorry, but if i was a jew back then, that would convince me of his holiness, yet the jews still turn and don't believe in himhuh  plus, this would have been noted by the josephus, philo and the talmud and the other gospels as well as written into the mishna (oral law and history). they are totally silent on all of this. this would have been one of the most important stories in human history. matthew claimed it was seen by many yet names none of the witnesses or who the saints were. if you notice, the bible is big on naming people as a rule. so lady how does writing to different audiences explain this?

Prophecies by Jesus that did not come true: (Deut. 18:19-22)

A prophet's prophecies must come true exactly as stated or he/she is a false prophet.
Jesus prophesied that he would be in the earth 3 days and 3 nights. Matthew 12:38-40
Jesus died on Friday afternoon before sundown (Luke 23:54-55) and was resurrected on Sunday. Therefore he was only dead 2 nights, not 3. (Remember, EXACTLY as prophesied) (Matthew 28:1 and John 20:1)

Jesus stated that he would return during his current generation (Mark 13:7.8,14,19,24,25 and 30) He described events that would take place during the current generation including, “wars, earthquakes, famines, the abomination of desolation spoken by Daniel, affliction not seen since the beginning of creation and the son of man shall come in the clouds with power and glory”. These events clearly did not occur.

Mark really blundered here as he quoted Zechariah 13:2-7 but left off the rest of Zechariah where god explains that he will strike the shepherd who should not live because he will be a false prophet who will speak lies in the name of the lord. It is ironic that Mark's Jesus identified himself as Zechariah's false lying prophet who should not live.

Since Jesus died before it was possible to know that these prophecies did not come true, the Christian bible did not report that the Jews accused him of being a false prophet.

Now on to another mistranslated messianic passage from the OT.
Isaiah 7:14 does not support Matthew's claim that Isaiah is referring to Jesus' virgin birth, some often argue that Isaiah 7:14 is a dual prophecy. In order to fully understand what Christians mean by a dual prophecy, let me first explain why the context of Isaiah 7:14 does not support Matthew's use of this verse as a proof-text of his virgin-birth story.

It should be said at the outset that the word "virgin" does not appear in the seventh chapter of Isaiah. The author of the first Gospel deliberately mistranslated the Hebrew word ha'almah as "a virgin." This Hebrew word ha'almah does not mean "a virgin." It means "the young woman," with no implication of virginity. Most modern Christian Bibles have corrected this erroneous translation, and their Bibles now correctly translate this Hebrew word as "the young woman". If Isaiah had wanted to spefically say virgin, he would have used betulah, a common word used in other areas of the OT that only means virgin.
Isaiah 7:14.

The seventh chapter of the Book of Isaiah begins by describing the military crisis that was confronting King Ahaz of the Kingdom of Judah. In about the year 732 B.C.E. the House of David was facing imminent destruction at the hands of two warring kingdoms: the northern Kingdom of Israel and the Kingdom of Syria. These two armies had laid siege to Jerusalem. The Bible relates that the House of David and King Ahaz were gripped with fear. Chapter seven relates how God sent the prophet Isaiah to reassure King Ahaz that divine protection was at hand. The Almighty would protect him, their deliverance was assured, and these two hostile armies would fail in their attempt to subjugate Jerusalem. In Isaiah 7 we read,

, : "Let us go up against Judah and provoke it, and annex it to us; and let us crown a king in its midst, one who is good for us." So said the Lord God, "Neither shall it succeed, nor shall it come to pass . . . ." ' " The Lord continued to speak to Ahaz, saying, "Ask for yourself a sign from the Lord, your God; ask it either in the depths, or in the heights above." Ahaz said, "I will not ask, and I will not test the Lord." Then he said, "Listen now, O House of David, is it little for you to weary men, that you weary my God as well? Therefore the Lord, of His own, shall give you a sign: Behold the young woman is with child, and she shall bear a son, and she shall call his name Immanuel. Cream and honey he shall eat when he knows to reject bad and choose good; for, when the lad does not yet know to reject bad and choose good, the land whose two kings you dread, shall be abandoned."

It is clear from this chapter that Isaiah's declaration was a prophecy of the unsuccessful siege of Jerusalem by the two armies of the Kingdoms of Israel and Syria, not a virgin birth more than 700 years later. If we interpret this chapter as referring to Jesus' birth, what possible comfort and assurance would Ahaz, who was surrounded by to overwhelming military enemies, have found in the birth of a child seven centuries later? Both he and his people would have been long dead and buried. Such a sign would make no sense.

We see, in II Kings 15-16, that this prophecy was fulfilled when these two kings were suddenly assassinated. With an understanding of the context of Isaiah 7:14 alone, it is evident that the child born in Isaiah 7:14 is not referring to Jesus or to any future virgin birth. Rather, it is referring to the divine protection that Ahaz and his people would enjoy from their impending destruction at the hands of these two enemies, the northern Kingdom of Israel and Syria.

Some Christians argue that this is a double prophecy. That it was fulfillied twice, once as I stated but again 700 years later with Jesus. If Christians argue that the word ha'almah means a "virgin," and, as they insist, Isaiah 7:14 was fulfilled twice, who was the first virgin to conceive in Ahaz's time? Were there two virgin births? That is to say, if these Christians claim that the virgin birth of Isaiah 7:14 was fulfilled twice, who then was the first virgin having a baby boy in 732 B.C.E.? Bear in mind that Christians insist that the word ha'almah can only mean virgin. Are they claiming that Mary was not the first and only virgin to conceive and give birth to a child?

Finally, if Isaiah's words are the substance of a dual prophecy, at what age did the baby Jesus mature? Which were the two kingdoms during Jesus' lifetime that were abandoned? Who dreaded the Kingdom of Israel during the first century when there had not been a Kingdom of Israel in existence since the seventh century B.C.E.? When did Jesus eat cream and honey? Why wasn't Jesus named Immanuel? Does any of this make any sense? It doesn't because this argument of a dual prophecy was born out of the desperation of Christians and essentially makes a mockery out of the book of Isaiah.
Christianity Etc › Re: Old Testament Prophecies Of Jesus Christ by mazaje(m): 5:08pm On Jan 04, 2009
Here is what i got from another site. . . . . .

Why Jews do not believe in Jesus

The requirements for the messiah are as follows (per the Jewish bible.) I use either the Stone edition or JPS. They are pretty identical and most Jews I know accept either edition as accurate.
1. He must be from the seed of David through Solomon
2. He will be anointed King of Israel (the word messiah means anointed, nothing more and nothing less)
3. He will return the Jewish people to Israel
4. He will rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem
5. He will bring peace to the world and end all war
6. He will bring knowledge of god to the world

All of the authentic Jewish messianic prophecies are empirically verifiable. The entire world will be able to see and verify the above.

Some things he will not be:
He will not be a deity
He will not need 2 visits to accomplish his mission
He will not die for our sins
He will not be pierced ( in reference to the mistranslation of Psalm 17 explained below)

About Jewish tribal law:
If your mother is Jewish, you are Jewish
If your father was a Kohen (Priest), you are a priest (birth only, no adoption allowed)
If your father was from the tribe of Judah, you are from the tribe of Judah (birth only, no adoption allowed)

Sources for the messianic criteria are from Isaiah 11:6, Talmud Yad, Melachim 11:4, Num 24:17, Deut 17:15 Lev 24:10 Ezra 10:2,3 Gen 49;10 Num 1:18-44 24:14 and Lev 24:10
No sources for the "nots" as these are absent from the Jewish OT.

For my reference to the messiah not needing to be pierced, I refer to Psalm 22:16 (17 in Jewish bible)

Dogs have compassed me; the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me; they pierced my hands and my feet. KJV
Dogs have encompassed me. A company of evildoers has enclosed me; like a lion, they are at my hands and my feet. JPS

Notice that when the original words of the Psalmist are read, any allusion to a crucifixion disappears. The insertion of the word "pierced" into the last clause of this verse is a not-too-ingenious Christian interpretation that was created by deliberately mistranslating the Hebrew word kaari as "pierced." The word kaari, however, does not mean "pierced," it means "like a lion." The end of Psalm 22:17, therefore, properly reads "like a lion they are at my hands and my feet." Had King David wished to write the word "pierced," he would never use the Hebrew word kaari. Instead, he would have written either daqar or ratza, which are common Hebrew words in the Jewish scriptures. Needless to say, the phrase "they pierced my hands and my feet" is a Christian contrivance that appears nowhere in the Jewish scriptures.

Bear in mind, this stunning mistranslation in the 22nd Psalm did not occur because Christian translators were unaware of the correct meaning of this Hebrew word. Clearly, this was not the case. The word kaari can be found in a number of other places in the Jewish scriptures. Yet predictably, the same Christian translators who rendered kaari as "pierced" in Psalm 22 correctly translated it "like a lion" in all other places in the Hebrew Bible where this word appears.
