Culture › Re: Your Views On Polygamy? by mazaje(m): 8:02pm On Mar 31, 2007
If indeed your experience as detailed above was true, I commend you for being forthright and for sharing.

The way I see it, some people are far more possessive or jealous than others. For such people, the concept
of polygamy or "sharing" is unthinkable. For others, it may not be such a big deal.

Like anything else, polygamy has its drawbacks. But buying into the myth that polygamy or everything that
is associated with it is a NO-NO as portrayed in the West is pure farce. I doubt if there is any conclusive
research to prove that children born in Polygamy are less happier than those in a monogamous homes. As
a matter of fact, most of the successful people in Nigeria today are all products of polygamous marriages. I
hope people realize that what goes on in Utah or in the Mormon Church is not a shining example of how
Polygamy is practiced - it is an exception when compared to the African example.

I have seen polygamy up close in action. Yes there is the feuding siblings and the jealous wives, but there
is also a lot of love in a polygamous home. No where is it truer that there is strength in numbers than in a
polygamous home - let an outsider mess with one of the kids and you will get the beating of your life from
one of the many bothers or sisters. In my opinion, if the man is financially able and fair in his dealings, he
is sure to end up with a home that mirrors any in terms of happiness in a monogamous home. Of course,
in polygamy, double trouble may also equate to double happiness just as one ends up with singular trouble
and singular happiness in monogamy. In a way its similar to couples or individuals that chooses not to have
children. You get to enjoy all your freedom and live your life un-bothered, but then when you get older, you
also get to live and suffer alone without any adult child to ask after you. You pay your dues now or later!

Isn't it ironic, that in the West (US especially) Gay marriage is in fashion, but Polygamy is so frowned upon
as if its a disease. Then of course, you have swingers and every other alternative or underground lifestyles
that is going mainstream too. Its important to note however, that polygamy is back in the debate in the US
somewhat. Whatever you decide to do, please make sure you understand our capabilities/limits and are not
running afoul of the laws of the land where you live.

Lastly, to the person who suggested that polygamy was responsible for the high rate of infidelity in Nigeria -
you are dead wrong. American men or most men at that are not any more faithful to their wives than Nigerian
men! There is just no corelation, the difference is that infidelity is more hidden in American society than it is in
Nigeria. Here, more romantic words and flowers are used, but the status quo remains. Of course, women can
make your life more miserable here than in Nigeria - but cheating still goes on!!!!!!!
U have said it all. am not for polygamy but i won't condemn it cos i don't like it. since polygamy is by far better than same sex relationships that is supported by the whites. Every society has a system that works for it and its all about finding the balance and doing what will work for you.

The pastors are just there for their personal benefits, so for that reason they have to fight for the people. they need to blackmail and call other pastors names so that more people will come to them and give them money in the name of offering unto God. people will never understand and will keep going to them and wasting their time.

oyinboaja:
You will be chasing shadows if you think it's all down to 'our leaders'. The white man comes to Africa, instals his puppet and when his puppet changes his mind and wants to refuse to be a puppet, he is castigated, ostracised and painted as the 'evil' plaguing his nation.

If he plays ball with the white man, he/his nation continues to be a beggar nation to the white man; if he rebels against the white man, he loses support and the white man uses all his resources: media, economic and sometimes military might to ensure that he becomes evil to the ordinary man.

Until that time when we all realise we need to free ourselves from the grip of the strong adversary, we will fight ourselves and blame ourselves for everything.

We are constantly being brainwashed and fed what the white man wants us to feed upon; this means that we will almost always see things the way the white man wants us to see them. We cannot see when the white man uses and dumps us; we only see ourselves as the lazy ones not willing to work hard enough. We don't see when the white man rejects us; we see ourselves as not being good enough. We don't see when the white man spits on us; we see ourselves as the ones making ourselves look like the place to spit upon.

e don do sef
I disagree with you. you can't blame the white man for everything some of the blame goes to them while most of the blame goes to us as a people. take a look at the so called terrorist Arabs, United Arab Emirates is more developed than so many countries in the EU so also is Qatar,Kuwait, and Baharian these arabs are not liked by the whites but they are still moving forward despite all the pulling back by the whites. what have you go to say about the indians? they are recording and unprecedented economic growth(9.6% anually ) for the last 4 years. what about the chinese? can you say the same of any african nation? to cut the long story short if the Arabs and the orientals can move forward despite all the pulling back and negative energy coming their way from the white people i see no reason why we can't. blaming and not acting will keep us where we are, infact it will make us worse then ever b4. i rest my case

And your point ishuh

I maintain that the reason Black people in Britain still exist on the wrong end of the economic and social polar is because the white establishment still considers it ok to discriminate against people based on their skin colours, albeit subtly and discretely.

That is why you're hardly ever going to find white people who are genuinely in supprt of a black person who's been wronged as a result of his colour. It is ingrained in them to see you as sub-human and a step forward would be for them to acknowledge that the black man is human and therefore deserves an apology for the wrongs done to him.
The black man in all his dealings has never shown the white man that he is equal to them and deserves their respect in any way. how can you sell your selves and expect the white people to respect and treat you rightly, we have sold our selves and we are still selling our selves. take a look at africa and you will see that we have more than sold our integrity ,hope and what we believe in (thats if we really believe in anything at all). cos as far as am concerned all we believe in is greed, selfisness, backwardness and messing our selves up. you have to earn respect and dignity, we as a people have lost that totally. the white people see how we relate to each other and thats what they use to jugde us first b4 anything else and what they see is, (i no fit shout).

I was with a friend the other day and while discussing i told him that i will be going back to Nigeria when i finish my masters degree and he was like shocked shocked ' you want to go back there and die? i heard that every body is running out and you want to go back there, come on go to some where better'.

so you see you really have to earn respect. we have disrespected our selves totally and we seriously need to change. else the trend will continue.
Politics › Re: Nigerian Challenges Queen Elizabeth And Tony Blair by mazaje(m): 9:14am On Mar 29, 2007
Apology isnt what we need but a total change of direction and focus, the white people alone are not to be blamed for slavery and slave trading most of the slaves were sold out by their african brothers for selfish purpose . why are there no Chinese/Japanese or Arabian slaves? because there was unity amogst them when the white people went to their lands and they refused to sell them selves to the white people. we are responsible for slave trading because we sold our selves out if we didnt slave trading wouldnt have started in the first place . we allowed the white people to build slave stations in our lands and we helped them in capturing and enslaving ourselves so who's fault is it?

Just for a pair of bicycle ,cigarrete or a mirror a village king at that time will sell over 1000 people into slavery with out thinking and caring about what will happen to them and we are out here crying and shouting that the white people did us wrong when we were the ones that did our selves wrong, they only capitalised on our greed ,selfishness and stupidity to build an emipre with our sweat and agony. salvery has long been in existance before the coming of the white people , most of the captured slaves were already slaves back in africa before they were being sold out. Most of the kings strongest gaurds were used to capture people of other tribes and sell them out .brothers sold brothers just for some few 'gifts' from the white men. i still believe that if the kingdoms at that time fought against the white people they wouldnt have taken any body into slavery rather the kings encouraged the act allowing and helping the slave masters to build slave stations and ships for conveying slaves in their lands. no body is talking about that, people are only talking about the act of slavery and not what lead to the act which i personally beileve is wrong.

Thats that about the slavery that happened over 200 years ago what am interested in is the modern day salvery that is going on today. our african leaders are enslaving us badly the leaders will conspire with the white people and rape their countries and it's citizenry to a point of no return and when the time comes for pointing out the wrong doer all we do is blame the white people instead of blaming them. They will loot all the public treasury and we will still hail and priase them for a job well done. look at what is happening in Dafur,Zimbabuwe, and Equatorial Guniea that to me is worse than what so many slaves went through in the hands of the white people 200 years ago and no body is talking about that instead every body is pointing fingers towards the white man's direction (which is all we know how to do) blame others for our madness and evil on each other.

Marry neither.

First guy - He cheated on you, that is enough reason to wonder why he is even still in the equation if you are serious about getting married. It is very difficult to break a relationship that started when you both were very young but sometimes its the right thing to do. Leave him alone, marrying him because you both are of the same religion makes no sense. You wont be worshipping every minute of married life.

Second guy - Religion never matters now when the brain is not engaged, the heart is in over drive and we are "blinded" by love. When the clouds clear then you'd be faced with a lifetime of religious differences you never bargained for. Think of your children.

My sincere advice. Find another guy to marry
You have said it all.

[b] Dear Saharareporters List Members,

Since we first broke the news about Prof. Iwu's fraudulent background, the Nigeria media have kept a suspicious and conspiratorial silence until now when the acclaimed Professor of "Herbal Medicine" has shown his true color. He has secured for Mr. Emmanuel 'Andy' Uba -another fraudulent character- an "oppononent -free" electoral contest in Anambra State and disqualified candidates not favored by President Obasanjo and members of his "Kitchen Cabinet". There is a history to Professor Iwu's dubious ways as documented by Saharareporters.

University of Bradford says Prof. Iwu never did an Undergraduate degree at their university

By Omoyele Sowore
www.saharareporters.com
Latest e-mail exchanged with saharareporters by the University of Bradford indicates that INEC Chairman, Maurice Iwu did present a "Certificate of Pharmacy" obtained from the National University of Cameroun, Younde in 1968 contrary to his claims that he never studied in Cameroun. The university spokesperson also refutes the 1972 story, instead he stated categoricaly that Iwu arrived at the University of Bradford on May 10 1974.

Full e-mail below:

'' Your most recent enquiry has been passed to me by my colleague Richard Wheelhouse. Following enquiries by your colleague Omoyele Sowore last week, I feel it is my place to pick this up from here. I have read your article and see that there are some serious allegations and some contradictory statements being made about Mr Iwu's qualifications. I hope the following information will be sufficient to satisfy your enquiries.

1. I can confirm beyond doubt that Mr Iwu did NOT take an undergraduate degree at the University of Bradford. In a student registration form for his Masters course, he declares that his date of arrival in the UK was 10 May 1974, ruling out any involvement with the University prior to this date.

2. In terms of his admittance to the masters course, the following was taken into consideration: Mr Iwu's record states that he achieved a 'Certificate en Pharmacien' from the Universite Federale ou Cameroun Younde, which he stated he completed in 1968.

Mr Iwu also undertook a six month preliminary (or access) course in Pharmacy in 1974 to ratify his knowledge and skills and prove he was able to undertake the masters programme. As part of this preliminary course, he passed a qualifying examination equivalent to Special Honours Pharmacognosy. This paper was examined by Professor J W Fairbairn of London University who concurred with the marking and approved his registration to the Masters course at Bradford.

I hope this is satisfactory. If you have any further requests for information, please get back in touch with me in the first instance. If you wish to quote any of the above in an article, please refer to the source of the information as 'A spokesman for the University of Bradford."

Prof. Maurice Iwu: Full details of communication between Sowore and Bradford University

Following spirited attempts by Prof. Maurice Iwu, to run away from the truth regarding his academic qualifications, we hereby tender to our readers a full copy of our communication(s) with the University of Bradford, Bradford UK.

* In order to reduce the amount of time wasted on this very important story, we have requested via a text message to Professor Maurice Iwu (INEC Chairman)a letter of authority addressed to University of Bradford at the Department of Pharmacy authorizing Bradford to release his academic records to Saharareporters. So far he has refused to acknowledge our request let alone grant the request. We are still waiting.

Dear Oliver:

Thank you very much for the assistance thus far. It is well appreciated.
As you cited the restrictions as dictated by the British Parliament Protection Act of 1998 on the disclosure of personal data or information, we understand that you are not are able to go further with the release of the requested information.
However on the issue of degree verification, since the British Parliament Protection Act of 1998 does not bar you from speaking on this issue - then we would want to know whether Bradford do degree verification as of 1975, if so, was this particular student's degree verified?

I don’t think I can help you with your enquiries any further. The University of Bradford has legally provided you with all the details it can about this individual, but under the British Parliament’s Data Protection Act 1998, we are not permitted to disclose personal information relating to students that does not concern the University.

Dear Oliver

Thanks for your good help in clarifying the date of admission. It is highly appreciated. I have been involved in getting degree verification done in the US as a reporter for a while, but it was a bit challenging getting it done with your school until you came on board. If you don't mind helping further, we would like to know which university in Cameron issued Mr. Maurice Iwu with the undergraduate Pharmacy degree that Bradford admitted him with in 1975. When was this degree issued in the 60's (please include possible Month and year)? To enable us complete our report/profile, we would be contacting his undergrad university. Does Bradford do degree verification as of 1975, if so was this particular student's degree verified?
Please endeavor to help clear this final part so that can proceed to conclude this matter on schedule.

Accept our regards and thanks for your excellent and prompt communications.

How Prof. Iwu defrauded CITIBANK of America

In 1999 at the 16th International Botanical Conference, Maurice Iwu made the announcement that he has found the cure for Ebola following his groundbreaking research under the auspices of his non-profit outfit-BDCP. Maurice Iwu indicated that Garcinia kola extract stopped the replication of the Ebola virus. Maurice Iwu followed his proclamation with the call that "Our limiting factor is funds. If we have a sponsor, we can do it in no time." Judging from available information, Prof. Iwu received lots of monies towards the development of his findings. As Saharareporters discovered, Prof. Iwu received millions of dollars. BDCP financial earnings as stated in Form 990 which BDCP presented to the United States Internal Revenue Service {IRS}. According to the form, BDCP amassed through grants and donors the amount of $425,947 in 1999, $367,870 in 2001, $640,917 in 2002 and $980,771 in 2003– totaling over $2.4million. It also stated clearly on the form that all of the monies were spent for the purpose of “medical research on the use of African herb for medicine”. However till date there appears no mention of further development of Garcinia kola extract to cure Ebola or any significant discoveries beyond some patents of which one of them was an “Alkaloids of Picralima Nitida used for treatment of Protozoal diseases” invented by Maurice Iwu et al., and assigned to the U.S. Secretary of the Army, Washington, D.C. U.S. Patent 5,290,553 issued March 1, 1994. Interestingly, neither U.S. nor European pharmaceutical houses have shown interest in following the leads.
