segzyj: If you are convinced and have enough evidence, why don't you go to the nearest police station and lodge complain officially?
Here is what happened, the guy and his wife are always fighting, the last fight they had was very violent. . .On the day she died he personally came out shouting that his wife was was dead in the bath room, me and 3 other guys went inside and saw her naked lying on the floor, the whole arrangement was suspect, her head was obviously broken but nothing else was broken in the bathroom, no blood on the sink or wall to show that she fell and hit her head against it, no blood on the floor, it looked obvious to me like she was taken from another place and kept there, there was blood on her head, her face and on her body but non on the floor, you will expect her to be in a pool of her blood because the cut was deep and she was lying there on the floor. . .Every body that came in just came in believing that she feel in the bath room and hit her head, but where did she hit her head? Nothing was broken there and no blood on anything only on her head, face and body. . .I told the police man about what I saw and he said that is not evidence and accused me of libel, she has already been buried. . .

Even her family has completely bought the story which is surprising because they know that the man beats the woman up sometimes. . .

more from the comments. . .

"The article mentioned the percentage of people who follow indigenous beliefs. It is however unfortunate that generally
such people are stigmatized and denounced as evil people who need to be saved. Such self-loathing is obviously one of the lingering effects of colonization on some of us. Also regrettable is that this negative perception is frequently displayed in Nigerian movies (Nollywood) where the evil person is always the one in the village who practices indigenous religion and the good person is always the born-again and tongue-speaking Christian. The message these movies pass across is that indigenous religion is all about voodoo, witchcraft and everything evil. I have never seen a Nollywood movie where our indigenous
religions are positively portrayed. I find this particularly sad because centuries of history and art are being destroyed in Nigeria in the name of ’liberation’ crusades organised by the verystrong and rapidly expanding pentecostal movement in Nigeria.

Nigerians seriously need to wake up. God is not going to solve our problems for us. It is in our hands!"

Development how?. . .Was ancient Israel ever better than ancient Egypt or Ancient Greece for example, was it better than ancient Rome?. . .How developed was ancient Israel compared to this pagan nations?. .

Now how did god help them develop?. . .Did he give them new building techniques, new or better medical services, give them new technology, new knowledge on how to improve or advance their society etc?. . .How did god help them develop when they were been captured and sent into exile many many times. . .

Purist: You're right. I've observed that there is a growing openness towards non-religiousity by many Nigerians where I live and in other parts of Europe as well. I believe that the situation is helped by the fact that mine is a predominantly atheist country where everything also seems to work. Many Nigerians here are unable to understand how such an "ungodly" nation can be so advanced and efficient in virtually everything. The reality on ground does not conform to their beliefs, so they tend to subconsciously adjust their own position over time. Furthermore, coming in contact with atheists all the time completely dispels the whole stereotype they've always held about non-believers being evil, immoral and all that. Where I live, the people are particularly known for their extreme honesty. This creates some sort of cognitive dissonance for the Nigerians here -- how can unbelievers be so honest and so kind? This is the only society I know where if you lose something valuable in a public place, you're more than likely to get it back. I've recently become very open (when asked of course) to other Nigerians about my unbelief, and contrary to my expectations, many just shrug. At worst, they'll simply say "bro, forget o, God dey!"

I have also observed the change in attitude of the Nigerians that arrived here recently towards religion. I recall how many of them would constantly invoke God in every discussion when they first arrived. But after one, two years, it's very interesting to observe that their level of religiousity has declined. In fact, many of them now ask questions that surprise me myself. Of course, the religiosity as a whole is extremely hard to shake off completely, and many of them are still very much theistic. But there's a lot of encouragement still.
I can really understand what you are saying. . .Back in Denmark Nigerians there actually find it difficult to understand that people that are so godless are so organized, honest and run a very efficient and effective system . . .

The last time I told a student pastor that I was an atheist all he said was that you sef don join them abi and he smiled. . .We are still friends . .Tell a pastor in Nigeria that you are an atheist and you will be surprised at his reaction. Africans that come here tend to be less superstitious. . .

musKeeto: yes with faith, you can believe
- a talking snake is responsible for man's suffering
- a man's donkey spoke to him
- a betrothed virgin gave birth
- a man built a ship for all animals in the world
- God killed himself to save you from sin
-That an illiterate man got revelations from some angle in a cave
- That a man ascended into heaven on the back of a winged horse
-That some book written in arabic is the best book in the world and is the word of the creator of the universe

Faith is indeed very good thing. . .

From one of the comments on the board I got this. . .

"They think if you’re an atheist you’re rejecting the culture and the society – that you’re a traitor when you drop the religion and beliefs of the society.

It is only in Nigeria that a public official will tell the people that a road project will be completed or that salaries will be paid ‘by the grace of God’. Politicians rig elections and say it is ‘the will of God’ and I
dare say most people believe them. ‘Just leave it to God’ is a common saying among Nigerians. Every single thing is spiritualized in Nigeria. The whole country is steeped in such palpable religious fervour yet the country is in a mess. It’s ridiculous. One would think that a country where everyone is so
concerned about ‘morals’ would be a place where very basic things get done for the benefit of all.

Indeed in the UK it is simply a non-issue for one to identify as atheist, agnostic or any other term that indicates very minimal or no involvement with religion. Who the hell cares? In Nigeria it is extremely rare to find someone in 'real life' that puts on the atheist label. ‘Which church do you attend?’ is a question you can expect in social interaction among Nigerians and you would get disapproving looks if you dare say ‘none’. Yes, on social media- because of the greater room for freedom of expression and the anonymity it affords- you might find the odd Nigerian who
freely expresses his irreligious and secular opinions. However, young or old, rich or poor, degree- educated or stark illiterate, the average Nigerian is either a Christian or Muslim. These are two foreign religions the people fight and kill each other over."

orgasticdance: Read the article. It's infinitely harder if you're a nigerian living in nigeria; case in point at my last job (a popular naija bank) when i was filling my employee form there were only two fields for religion; islam and christianity; fear no make me put atheist. But i eventually opened up to a few colleagues at work. And the world did not end. i opened up to family folks, the world still didnt end, In fact one of my super cool cousins also came out as well after i did. Made me happy that i had a comrade in the family circle. I only have one friend who is openly atheist (my cousin, lol) and would encourage more people to come out. I won't mind a naija atheist group at all, beyond the very useful e-one we have here in nairaland.
Some Nigerians are now beginning to think ohh. . .Many are travelling out to europe where religion has been thrown out of the window, many can not just reconcile the religious claims and positions they hold and the reality they see on ground. . .People are now asking questions. . .But its still a very very very long way to go. . .I just tell people i don't believe in miracles, most time I get a negative answer, like you are doubting god or you are siding with the evil one, bla bla bla. .But a few people say things like I don't even know what to believe any more. . .Its encouraging that few people are beginning to reason and not think like drones. . .

bellong: Op,

The problem is complicated and institutional.

If you have ever entered police trouble before, you will know that an armed robber is a better friend compared to the police.

Before people can voluntary supply information without the fear of being roped into the case, the police must first gain the confidence of the population. How will you be encouraged to report to police when the previous one you reported landed you in trouble that took divine intervention to get off it.

Have you visited the forensic section of the NPF in Ikoyi before? It is as good as a collection office.
True, I actually tried to suggest to a police man that I believe that the woman was murdered and he asked me for evidence, I couldn't provide any so he accused me of libel. . .The issue is, why do family and close friends accept such stories. . . If you are always beating my sister and suddenly you come up and tell me she died by falling down in the bathroom, I won't take it. . .If family members report such cases will be looked into, the issue is every body just accepts the story that is given and life goes on. . .

Zarian5: You are quick to believe this UNVERIFIABLE hoax because it support your claim right? Yet you are looking for VIDEO EVIDENCE of Prophet Muhammad's revelation which took place 1400 years ago? Meanwhile the “Sheikh” even said the 6 million muslims are from Africa alone! Where are they? Why is the story not reported in any other reliable media outlet? Even if he really had the Al Jazeera interview, how did he arrive at that figure?
MEANWHILE ISLAM IS THE FASTEST GROWING RELIGION GLOBALLY.

Neutral non-Muslim Sources confirming Islam to be the fastest growing religion.
I will just mention a few of them.
“Islam is the world’s fastest-growing religion. In 1990, 935 million people were Muslims and this figure had escalated to around 1.2 billion by 2000, meaning that around one in five people follow Islam. Although the religion began in Arabia, by 2002 80% of all believers in Islam lived outside the Arab world. In the period 1990-2000, approximately 12.5 million more people converted to Islam than to Christianity” (Guinness World Records 2003, pg 102)
Now compare your 6-million-muslim-hoax to what Guiness World Records stated in the period 1990-2000, approximately 12.5 MILLION MORE PEOPLE CONVERTED TO ISLAM THAN TO CHRISTIANITY!

According to Reader’s digest Almanic year book Islam grew by 235% in 50 years between 1934-1984

According to CNN.
“The second-largest religion in the world after Christianity,Islam is also the fastest-growing religion. In the United States, for example, nearly 80 percent of the more than 1,200 mosques have been built in the past 12 years.
Some scholars see an emerging Muslim renaissance as Islam takes root in many traditionally Christian communities.
Islam has drawn converts from all walks of life,”

etc. .etc it's all over the world! The Global muslim population growth rate (1.5%) is twice that of the entire non-muslims (0.7) according to the report by the Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life. (http://www.pewforum.org/2011/01/27/the-future-of-the-global-muslim-population/). In less than 10yrs time Islam will overtake Christianity as the largest religion even though Christianity had been well established 600yrs before the birth of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Allah did make this promise when perhaps there were only a few hundred muslims in the Desert of Arabia.

“It is He who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islam), to make it superior over all religions even though the Mushrikeen (Polytheists, Pagans, disbelievers in the oneness of Allah) hate (it).” Quran 9:36

Isn't that in itself an indication for the truth of Islam? Had it been your 6-million-muslim-hoax is true then the title of this thread would have been “Why Do So Many Muslims Convert To Christianity? ” Show us the video evidence of the 6 million muslims!
Hope you know that the guy that made the report is a muslim. . .Seocondly a research by a Muslims scholar whose name is Prof IIyas Ba Yunus was conducted in the US and it found out that 70 percent of converts to islam leave islam after a few years. . .

CrimeRe: Why Don't We Investigate Deaths In Nigeria? by mazaje(op): 9:27am On Aug 08, 2013
debrief08: Because we are mentally lazy.
We prefer our superstitions to real actual facts.
We prefer to believe that a "wombless" Pastors wife will mysteriously give birth to a 10pound baby without asking questions like if there was a womb transplant, where is the Doctors report, what was actually medically done.
We prefer to jump from one prayer house to the other rather than focus our energy and harness the scientific breakthroughs God helped Doctors to discover.
We prefer to believe a Pastor who under 3 months learns the art of sweet mouth than a Doctor with 10 years of training, and 20 years of professional practice.
We prefer to lazily "leave it to God" than to equip our labs and take the years and study foresic sciences.
We prefer to hide things than say it out so others can learn and apply your mistakes and experiences to their own decisions.
We also prefer to carry rumours of money rituals than simple basic scientific tests
Simple answer: we are lazy, pretentious, religious hypocrites. That's all
The thing tire me, but in some cases its very glaring, a man that is having serious issues with his wife should be questioned at least when she suddenly dies from domestic accident, but no, every body is busy praying for he departed soul and a person has gotten away with murder. . .What is that?. .Many people are getting away with murder in naija, its just crazy. . .
CrimeWhy Don't We Investigate Deaths In Nigeria? by mazaje(op): 9:01am On Aug 08, 2013
There is a guy who I am really sure killed his wife here in Nigeria, they have been having serious issues, suddenly the wife a very healthy woman was said to have died 2 days ago and the reason given was that she fell in the bath room. Now people are crying. . No one is pointing accusing fingers at the husband, no police has been called in, no autopsy, nothing, as muslims the woman was buried the next day. A killer has gone away with murder in this crazy country of ours, I am very sure he killed that woman. I know there are may other similar cases as well.

In a community that I visited in Benue about 3 ladies have been found dead in the community in a span of 3 months but no body seems to be doing any thing about it, even the police have not been called in, people are just living in fear, while a serial killer is on the lose. . .Why don't we report such cases to the police? When a dead body is found people try to identify it and then bury it, no one calls the police to come, when the police comes people don't want to coperate by speaking up, some people go as far as saying that it is the will of god. . .I know that our police lack the capacity to conduct such complicated investigations, but some little lead here and there can help. . .

I am just angry today so my rants might not seem coherent. . .I seriously believe that many people kill their family members both nuclear and extended or spouses and claim they died in their sleep or had a domestic accident and the issue just dies like that, no investigation, no questioning, nothing. . .Imagine a husband telling people that he found his wife's body in the bath room, he said she fell and died and that's all. . .People just accepted that explanation with out any question, next thing people are praying for her soul and reciting Arabic verses from the Koran. . .what is that?. . .Am pissed. . .

onyfrank: In the bible, Isrealites were taken as God's chosen tribe, and God is for them and answers their prayers.
But all these other nations, kingdoms and tribes, that worshipped idols, who was answering their prayers? They flourish in agriculture, and technology wise, dat sometimes Isrealites went to them during famine, and their land flows with milk and honey.
Very interesting question considering the fact that Yahweh has declared them to be his enemy and the enemy of his people. . .

Pastor Olu T: The first thing u need to know boss is that, the fact that one is prospering does mean that it is God behind it is a very wrong assumption. There are laws (physical n spiritual) if when abide by would yield results, even God Himself don't bypass these laws (mostly spiritual ones anyways) many atimes.
Its like God is not that active in this present world which is true 'cos everything has been set in place we are just meant to follow suit, the choice is ours. But He has reserved a day to judge all, for there will always be consequences for our choices.
Yet you still pray to god to make things better when everything has been set in place?. . . .

I admit it might be all a lie. . .Since there isn't any evidence to show that 6 million people actually convert every year. . .You do not have any evidence of allah or any angle telling mohammed anything, all you have is just indoctrinated beliefs in some stories and that is where it ends. . .So stop acting as if its factual because is not. . .

Just as there is no evidence that Mohammed received any recitation from any angle. . .If you have a video evidence of an angle reciting the koran to Mohammed please bring it on else remain quite and stop talking of evidence of absence of evidence. . .

try this: there is a challenge to anyone who can take all accounts of the resurrection in the four gospels, Acts, and 1 Corinthians 15, and write a single narrative in which he includes every event and detail mentioned in the separate accounts and do so without omitting anything or injecting inconsistency, contradiction, or purely speculative materials into the narrative.
