Family › Re: When The Wife becomes the Husband. by mbhs139(m): 7:08am On Oct 07, 2016 |
Toks2008: The primary duty of the man in marriage is to provide the basic needs of his family talking about the wife and the children while the primary role of the wife is to nurture the husband and the children which is the perfect definition of help mate.
Now it is important to note that no two marriages are the same and what works for you may not work for the other person and the fact that a man provides all the needs of the family does not mean that he can't assist the wife to do some of her primary duties if needs be and a wife who has become the breadwinner may also not mind playing her primary duties without any support from the husband .
But nevertheless i sincerely believe that every man whose wife have become the main bread winner or a co-bread winner to realize that it is very expedient for him to be ready to also be a co-nurturer of the family and also perform the primary duties of the woman such as cleaning the house, cooking, taking care of the children and helping the wife to do things that will ease off the stress from her.
I have heard of several cases where a man who is fully financially dependent on the wife still expects her to do all the domestic activities and prepares all three course meals and some men even get so angry with the wife because she complains of tiredness.
It is very wicked and uncaring for a man whose wife is also a partaker of his primary duties to still expect the lady to fully take care of the home front and this does not make you less a man but will rather encourage the woman and not make her look like a slave in the house.
I know some men will say it is not in our tradition as Africans to do domestic chores and I sincerely agree but we must also understand that it is also not an Africa tradition for a woman to be a breadwinner.
I don't know if this makes sense. My wife is not the co-bread winner in the house or of the family and yet I assist in doing household chores becuase, for me, i believe it's a form of exercise. Besides, by doing so, I'm also saving myself some cost and frustration. It allows me to know when certain things are not available or when they are likely not going to be available and I prepare in advance. Like I wake up before anybody, boil water for the baby's flask and the one mother and child will use to take their bath. I'm even the one that goes to bed last. Once I'm back to the house my wife practically shot down; she knows I will take charge, and I have to if I want things to be done well. I go to bed last because I want to make sure all lights are put off; there's no water on the floor, no running tap and things like that. Yet, I'm the bread winner. Though, my wife, in her magnanimity, do get some things for the house, and for which I thank her. For instance, she will cook fresh fish when I've actually given her money for 'ponmo' |

apoti: The banks are part of the problem of this Nigerian economy. The role of a commercial bank is to accept deposits and provide loans for businesses, farmers and manufacturers to ensure economic and social stability and sustainable growth of the economy.
But the commercial banks in Nigeria only collect deposits and will rather lend money to politicians and big men rather than the SMEs.
As a former bank employee the management will put your a55 under fire and interrogate you like a murder suspect in police custody for bringing proposals from SMEs, but will pat you on the back if it was a politician or a well known rich man.
Until the CBN sets targets or do something drastic for the commercial banks to lend responsibly people that can boost the economy locally, nothing will change. They are the REAL problem. |

A news of this nature comes only from the National chairman of ASUU and the person who was interviewed is ONLY a branch chairman, not even a member of the National exco. As one who is savvy with ASUU, I know how strikes occur and one of the processes is for a nationwide Congress to occur with delegates from all universities.
Besides, only a misanthrope will be happy with this news. Nigerian education has suffered enough. I think they had a meeting in UNILAG this week, on Wednesday or thereabout, but I wouldn't know if it is a national congress. I saw the Buses of ASUU-UI, ASUU-FUNAB, ASUU-UNAB, and a host of others. So, may be it's a regional meeting of ASUU I don't know. |

Like someone said, the man's action is incitement, provocative and an attempt on breach of trust. I wonder who the hell that Ubani is, NBA chairman indeed. |
Pets › Re: No Criminal Implications In Naming Dog After Person —lawyers by mbhs139(m): 2:38pm On Aug 24, 2016 |
cktheluckyman: The incoming Second National Vice President of the Nigeria Bar Association, NBA, Mr. Monday Ubani, yesterday, said that no offence is committed by someone naming his dog after somebody else.
He said: “In the eye of the law, it is not criminal for somebody to name his or her dog after another person. It may be offensive by examining the circumstances under which the incident happened.
“I understand that a particular dog was named after a neighbour and both of them were not in good terms; in a Hausa community somewhere in the South-West.
“So expediency would have prevailed on him not to name his dog after somebody he was quarrelling with.
“The Bible says wisdom profited for direction. Anything you are doing must be with wisdom. If such a thing would provoke unnecessary argument, you should avoid it.”
Another Lagos-based lawyer, Mr. Tunji Muyedeen, said: “As far as I am concerned, there is no way such offence could be sustained in law. Anybody can name his pet after anybody’s name.
“He can even call the pet his name. However, spurious charge or charges may be preferred against such person.
“All of us will be living witnesses to the trial of the man. We will see what evidence the prosecution has to prosecute the accused person.”
For human rights activist, Mr. Okey Nwaguna, prosecution must show that accused had the intent to cause breach of public peace.
He said: “The motive of an accused is never and can never be established by the charge: it must be established by evidence.
“Prosecution must show that accused had the intent to cause a breach of public peace. What constitutes ‘public’ is key.” |

Btw, I Love dogs Reacting to the underlined, I don't think you seem to get the gist. The man in question was actually taken to the police station on the prompt of his neighbour. He actually has a beef with his neighbour and then named his dog after his neighbour's father's name-Buhari. That's the root of the matter. Just like you said, it has nothing to do with the President. |

Elementary economics, at least from SSS1 text book, has been teaching even kids of now-a-days that countries in Africa need to thread softly with the IMF and World Bank. Perhaps I need to school you a little, of how Nigeria borrowed an estimate of about $5billion and we ended paying more than 50% of the principal amount as interest. So...? If he had managed this industry country well like someone who has brain, we wouldn't have been in this present mess. For all of you castigating this administration for our present woes, don't forget that GEJ's finance minister, NOI, has been asking us all the while to brace up for harder times before now. So, .... what are we talking about here? Anyway, that's not to say PMB too has not been faulting.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, former minister of finance, on Thursday said the zero political will to save under former President Goodluck Jonathan is responsible for the challenges the country is facing.
Okonjo-Iweala added that Nigeria was able to save $22 billion under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, which saved the country in 2008, when there was global economic meltdown.
“We saved $22 billion because the political will to do it was there. And when the 2008 /2009 crisis came, we were able to draw on those savings precisely to issue about a 5 percent of GDP fiscal stimulus to the economy and we never had to come to the bank or the fund.
“This time around and this is the key now, you need not only need to have the instrument but you also need the political will. In my second time as a finance minister, from 2011 to 2015, we had the instrument, we had the means, we had done it before, but zero political will.
“So we were not able to save when we should have. That is why you find that Nigeria is now in the situation it is in. Along with so many other countries” |

ABDamola: it was agreed that the Okah brothers should be contacted to reach out to MEND to endorse Mr. Jonathan and to work with the group of persons to ensure victory for the PDP and President Jonathan.
“It therefore came as a shock when MEND did the opposite and endorsed Buhari. Mr. Jonathan was livid with anger and swore that the Okahs would rot in prison.
He said it was also agreed that a show of force be put up in Yenagoa, where ex-militants led by Government Ekpemupolo and Kingsley Kuku would threaten war should the electorate vote in Buhari's favour.
“It was around that period the idea of forming the Niger Delta Avengers was conceived. In fact the name "Avengers" came from the lips of Goodluck Jonathan.
“As election day approached, certain stakeholders were mobilized to form a force to standby and ensure total anarchy in the South-South and South-East within 24 hours if the election results were not favourable to Jonathan. It took everyone by surprise to learn that Mr. Jonathan had conceded defeat even before the final results were released. The standby force who were to attack specific targets were told to stand down. They were all compensated in US dollars cash.” There can be no smoke without fire, and the bold part got me thinking, because I know that conceding defeat wasn't GEJ's idea, he was actually coarsed by the gang of five that were with him that day, they actually had a sinister plan A and B. Plan A was Orubebe's outburst, which failed, because Jega successfully dealt with that. And plan B could be as alleged in this exposee |

In as much as I do not support the FG subsidizing dollars for any pilgrims (Christians and Muslims), this particular one was done on equal footing.
It s hypocritical for you to see nothing wrong in subsidizing for Christian pilgrims and suddenly realize it's not good now because of the time. When it was done for Christians, was Nigeria swimming in dollars? Was Nigeria any better than now?
