snowdrops: This is one of the best thread ever on NLYea! I agree with you. Very much unlike other thread that they would have started raining curses and abuses on one another. This one seem to be more intelligent |
Beaf: Quite clearly, NL has become an official engine to create falsehoods and launch personal attacks.Seems NL is loosing its credibility by the second because of the type of stories that makes front page this days. How I wish there is another forum for intellectual discussion rather than some retarden here that always refer to GEJ as a retard at the slightest opportunity. |
I will say I was disappointed at some people's comments by berating Gov. Fashola. Were we not all in this country, in January 2012, when President GEJ, despite unanimous calls and protest by all Nigerians, was briming with fire that he was not going to revert back his decision on the fuel price increament? Now, here is a gorvernment, that listened to the crys of its people and revert back its self, yet we are berating them. |
HNosegbe: So because I asked a simple question as to the legality of his action, I am now spewing BS? That's the problem with Nigerians, accepting everything they hear hook, line and sinker.I'm disappointed in you and in myself for responding to that thread. do you think it is every body on NL that came with their thinking cap on? No one would have noticed that if you had not responded. Please be careful of what you respond to next time. |
ifihearam: What rubbishYou see! Can you see what GEJ has caused? He has made the gesture looks more like a percifciation for the yorubas or the south-west. it looks sectionalised and tribalised. If he had done something in abuja, that would have been better ... but look at it now. By the way, what is wrong in declaring him the president posthumously? If anyone thinks or feels he shouldn't be declared the president posthumously, then we presume he didn't win the presidency in the first place and may not need to be immortalised. But if actually he's the acclaimed winner like everyone has been saying, they declaring him president or naming aso rosck after him would have been an honour befitting of teh sacrifice he made fir the nation. naming a school after him, particularly in the south-west is belittling his contribution to our 'democracy' |
Well, by way of contributing to this discussion, I wouldn't want to joint those that throws decorum into the winds in the name of making their point. What I will simply say is that if Fashola is interested in taking a shot at the presidency, he should rather wait until after 2015 and use that waiting period to do his home work thoroughly, just like he did before he became the Lagos State Gorvernor. I also agree wit the person that said foreign investment will flow into Nigeria if Fashola becomes the Presidetn of this country. He's right to a great extent. This is because of the respect and admiration the international community has for him personally and his administration in general. This is a man whom when he talks you get inspired. This is a man that goes about with just three vehicles in his convoy (a LASTMA outrider, his own at the middle, and an ambulance behind), and without the usual fun fare and siren blaring like others. Here is a man who believes in the rule of law. I'm begging to sound like I'm campaigning for him already , Let me stop here before people start stoning me ![]() |
snoopy: I can see a lot of people are taking this issue the wrong way. First I start with those who say its just a name and nothing more. what is in a name? A lot is in a name. In our African setting, people assign names to their Children based on religious, philosophical or cultural affiliations and the name is believed in some cases to have a significant influence on the destiny of that child. Not a few have attributed the current political success of GEJ to his name "goodluck"I don't even know where to highlight in your post. I must confess, you make sense die! How I wish this could be sent to someone close to the sit of government in Abuja. You know what, those in support of the name change, shouting what's in a name are those people that have one beef or the other with UNILAG. They want to get back at the school. |
Deep Sight: The President is the VISITOR of the University of Lagos. From the way you write though, I doubt you will understand what that role infers.Being the visitor does not make him less submissive to due process. University of Lagos was crested by an act of parliament. And it is only through the national assembly that the act can be amended. I think most people that do not see anything wrong in this move by the president has one to two things against UNILAG. that has always be the norm anyway. I know UNILAG has a lot of enemies ... for not giving them admission. ba_aliyah: I grew up to know MKO as a pillar of sports in Africa. He also had a football team. In my opinion Abuja National stadium should have been named after the man. ba_aliyah: I grew up to know MKO as a pillar of sports in Africa. He also had a football team. Can you imagine changing Havard to Obama University. Or Oxford to Queen Elizabeth Univesity. Or Cambridge to Tony Blair University? What will that tell or their corporate branding. UNILAG is name that was built over the years through hard work. There would not have been any importance attached to it if it hasn't connote some sort of meaning to some. Imagine the number of people, corporate organizations that has their business built on that name. Corporate organizations uses their collaboration as strategic market entry strategy into youthful markets. The President got it wrong. I beg to differ. This is turning corporate branding on it's head. |
To the children of the world, please face your study and think creative. God bless you all. ![]() |
jmoore: Who cares about who employs you. Do it and build your own empire!!!You make sense die. That's the problem we us young person of now a-days. It is all about employment and everyday we are moving near our retirement, and not making plan for it. All we care is paid employment. I have done so many courses; on-line, off-line, in-class, out-class and I don't have a CV and not planning of having one because I employed my self. |
texazzpete: To Fashola, the doctors are not indispensable. he can easily afford to send his family overseas to treatment. |
I don't really see any reason for all these abuses over someone else's problem. It is her choice, and the best we could have done for her as her fan is just to wish her goodluck. What's more important in marriage is happiness. I wish all the best in your married life 'Sulia kan'. |
egift: On a lighter note...would you prefer...Fashola tried doing that with a truck driver that blocked the express road and you need to see all the sort of names he was called and given on nairaland. |
Bontee: So na when oil spilliage reach lagos before fahola go raise alarm? , what about the oil spilliage for niger delta since all these years?.Have you asked the Gorvernors in the Niger-Delta what have they done about it-oil spillage. So, because there is oil spillage in ND, Fashola should not talk about it in Lagos. Where are you from my brother? |
Akiika: Now i understand we have a bigger problem than the bad leaders sef. See how common Nigerians are reasoning!I thank God for people like you who still look back to seek and know what goes on in 'mother-land'. If not for people like you and others with good sense of judgement like yours, I wouldn't have said anything on this issue. Some people's comment makes me want to throw up. What annoys me most is that these are presumably people who must have passed through the four walls of a school: university, polytechnic or even secondary school. Honestly, my heart bleeds for this country Serious. Our claim of having leadership problem is a far cry from the followership problem we are battling with. In response to the issue, the report said the man was charged to court, fined N20,000 and two sureties in like sum but could not meet his bail condition. My question to some of you commentators is, should he be set free or what exactly do suggest the Governor should have done rather than charging hiim to court? I feel very sorry for this country. Honestly, I do. |
This guys should learn from daniel amokachi. He used to have a private jet too when things were going good for him, but today nko ....? |
Emperoh: Can't you guys read?i wonder o. some people for this NL need gooogggglllleeee |
aguiyi: ^^^ just like that?Yea! I agree with that. Demand for the LG account and pay into their account if at all you must pay. don't mile with them just be serious minded about it and insist on paying into their account. pretend as if you don't know that what they are doing is illegal. and if they insist that you must pay cash, then tell them that you'll go and pay it at alahusa, into the state govt.'s account and bring them the receipt. i bet you they will never come to meet you as gain. be serious minded o. and don't show any emotions |
kay9: Source: http://tribune.com.ng/index.php/news/41426-why-sacked-doctors-may-not-be-recalled-fasholaLet us allow our institutions to work |
Sisi_Kill: When they were not on strike. . . weren't people still dying? Were people nit dying when the doctors went on strike? By the way, can't you people read between the lines? for ones we have someone who is ready to mkae our institutions work yet we wount appreciate that. |
Trojavirus: People say NIM is useless because employers do not ask for it then what will you say about the teeming unemployed graduates in Nigeria, does that make Bsc, Btech etc useless? Do not ask where you can work with NIM certificate but ask what work you can provide with the knowlege you gain from NIM. It is all about becoming a manager, an enterprenuer that will provide jobs for those with ''employe me'' mentality. You make a lot of sense and that's what I have been saying it too |
KINGwax: you knw, i wld have loved to click on your link and take part in the survey but d link puts me off. 'Survey monkey?' i knw say na one white dude help u develope that thing and whether na u or white man, both of you no go die well. If u use another name for your link, e no go work? God punish all of una. Go jungle find monkey do una survey na!Survey Monkey is a paid and online survey instrument for collecting perceptual data by researchers all over the world. It is not meant to insult you. I swell it was not meant to insult anyone. Anyway, may be the producers should change the name if it sounds insulting. So, my brother take am easy. |
djustice: While the ACN Lagos State [/b]spread lies and propaganda all over the place, the doctors are getting juicy offers from private hospitals, other states and the Federal Ministry of Health. Let them keep deceiving themselves while the gullible sheep they're killing with taxes continue to cheer them on, as they die like flies due to the senseless sacking of the doctors. That bolded statement clearly indicates that you must be an opposition party memeber. Your concern is actually about grabbing power or seeing the present party out of government house so that your party can take over. You aren't quiet interested in the interest of the public on this issue. So, who is now the oponu buruku |
allycat: The story is incomplete without the list of the private hospitals that are to provide free treatment. Get the list and publish it complete with the a dresses and contact phone numbers. If people do not know how to access this free service then it is pure propaganda. It is not propaganda. Check Punch News Paper of Sunday, 20th May 2012 on Page 57. Its not everything they should publish oneline. At least, it has been published in the daily. That has wider circulation than NL. By the way, do you want to be spoon fed for all thing? |
I'm shock to hear about the news of Chief Bassey's death. Though I don't know him nor have I ever met him, but virtually all the sign boards in Unilag were created by him or supervised by him .The univeristy will surely miss him. RIP anyway. |
Ayatullah: You people should leave the woman alone. . . . . . .it could happen to anyone and for God sake what of notable players that blow their nose on the pitch while matches are on and rub their hand on their jersey?. I wonder o! help me aske them o! is that one a problem to be discussed among the millions of problem we are faced with. I say, we never know weting dem dey call surffer for this country. Nonesense. Mtchew |
rekeson: pls house, i want to know how relevant the NYSC NIM is. Do employers actually regard it? Is it a standard NIM certificate which can boost my CV? Pls i need responses from those who have adequate knowledge of the subject matter. Am skepticalon taking the exam this June.my advice is that you should just do it for the knowledge you will gain and not for the certificate. That's the problem with us in this country most of the time, we lay emphasis too much on the (relevance or employability) certificate instead of the knowledge to be gained from the course. A sample of majority of people doing masters degree courses are doing for one reason: either because they need it to change their job, to get employment or because they haven't gotten one and would not want to be idle. It is actually not for the love of knowledge. A sample of the masters course curriculum reveals that 75% of what is being taught at Masters level had already been corvered at the uundergraduate level. |
Well said anyway. But I personally have a problem with Glo. If actually this press release is from them, I think my message will get to them. Glo is not good at public relations. Majority of the time that customers experience difficulties with their service, there has never been anyone on hand to offer any explanation or any apology. Press releases like this, and on a seemingly free platform like this would have even assuage flamed nerves. I spend close to 8000naira monthly on my BB, Ipad and MoDem. Another thing I would like the telecom operators to take note of is their mode of promotion. I don't think this attitude of winners take it all would take you anywhere; where a single individual wins millions or cars. While not spread this millions over a large number of people in a token? I think that's more beneficial. Before Coca Cola bought over GoldSpot, Limca and PaliSoda, you will always win something during their promo ... no matter how small it is; biro, facecap, bottle openner, exercise books ... little-little things that are useful in one way or the other. There is virtually no house one will visit that you will not come across Limca or GoldSpot sourvenir. But this day, it is car, 1million naira and things like that. Thats's not how to equally compensate your loyal customers, You aren't plowing back into the society that way. Imagine 1 million naira gift for how many number of people. And if they can't do that, let us please simply have the worth of our money in service provision. |
Baba_O: It is either u are an arm robber that don't want armed robberies put to an end or you are a stark illiterate of the issue. If u are talking of using it as political weapon against opposition or federal govt, is the military not under the federal govt to curb their excesses?, just Gej rolling out millitary during subsidy protest in LagosYou see people clamouring for betterment of the nation, and when suggestions are made, instead of proffering better ways to the suggested one, all they do is lampoon the ones suggested. Be that as it may, I think our people need to be orientated on what is called 'federalism'. Too much long a military rule has made us loose touch of the meaning. We are a 'federal republic of nigeria' and yet some people are opposing state police. I have always been a proponent of 'true federalism', where the federal government only takes care of our common interest. The truth be said, I dont see what makes the hausa or igbo or yoruba man to be one and the same |
careytommy: My sincere condolenceLaugh Wan Kill Me Die!!! This guy is funny |
