Ihategirls: Please what’s the meaning of the FTA on the title of the thread ? Free To Air, I guess the thread started as a means to get power to enable DIY enthusiasts watch their FTA satellite TV. But these days it's more about DIYing renewable energy than the FTA. |

Deluxe8000: Are you saying it can't charge my battery full? What can the charger do? Oh! And i have paid 25k for it. Yeah, I forgot to mention that. The 24v version I've seen in operation can only do maximum of 26.8v or 13.4v, most lead acid needs something capable of pushing up to 14.4v, I guess that is the major drawback of it. But you can always check to see if yours can charge up to 14.4v, who knows whether they may just have tweaked it so. |

Deluxe8000: Pls house what is your take on this charger? Is it better than famicare charger. Better in terms of longetivity? I'll say yes, this is Huawei 48VDC 50A rectifier, commonly used by the telecom firms to supply power to antennas. This one is actually reconstructed to supply 12V instead of the default 48v. Yes, it is more rugged than the filmsy Famicare charger and I think it pushes more Amps than Famicare charger too. |

Kindly help me confirm if I should proceed to the P.O. I tried calling a contact at the P.O, after several calls, he picked and asked that I send him my details which I did and he never replied or picked his calls again.. It just arrived the country, give it time to get yo your local post office. That was some fast shipping, especially in this coronavirus era. I still have goods I bought in January in transit. |

JaySterling: What if it was 4 months ? You can manage it if it's like below two months and same make. In six months, especially in Nigeria, the battery must've experienced so many cycles that it won't be fair to connect a brand new battery with difference resistance and number of cycles to it. I guess you just have to use the Zedix till it's dead, then get four fresh new batteries. |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 6:36pm On Mar 26, 2020 |
JaySterling: 6 months Now it's even too late to mix it with same Zedix. Mixing it with another battery type will even make for a very shorter failure time. |

ceaser: That's a mobile phone power bank for 5v output in that link and the batteries are in 1s configuration.
The power bank I speak about is majorly for laptop but can also be used for several other devices. It has output for voltages that range thru 5v, 9v, 12v, 15v, 18v, 20v with a switch to select your required voltage. The cells are in 3s configuration. Oh, that's cool. That one is more versatile. |

zeanslim: I use 18650 cells holder, they create space to prevent shorts and reduce heat. Which is more better I have like 1000 of them gotten from AE.
And I just even use my battery pack to start a car and generator today. Directly. Cell holder makes the job of creating a big bank with 18650 very easy, safe and with pleasing aesthetics. |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 6:46pm On Mar 23, 2020 |
ceaser: That's the problem bro. I don't own a spot welder and I have a roll of nickel strip just wasting away o, imagine.
I hope I should be able to still salvage some of the cells. I will just use it to as pack for an expansion slot I'm DIYing for laptop power bank I bought off of AE. The power bank came originally with slots for 3s2p with BMS and all. I'll add more batteries to it. There are cheap 10-cell 18650 powerbank case from AE why not buy one and get the expansion and higher capacity that you need? |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 10:13pm On Mar 22, 2020 |
zeanslim: The cells ain't insulated that's why That too may be a factor in the failure, you can always buy cheap cell wrappers at AE. |
Satellite TV Technology › Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by mctfopt: 10:07pm On Mar 22, 2020 |
ceaser: Talking of not using BMS, here's an 18650 gone ballistic. Note that I've several modules like this working successfully without BMS for months and still going good.
But this one nearly burned down the shed. Do you own a spot welder? I noticed that it appears as if the cells are soldered. Interesting that just a few of the cells took the hit. Also when running the test on the cells, try charging each at 1A and check for any that is unusually warmer than the others, that one will be a torn in the flesh even if it passes your test if connected with others without high temperature issues. |

adrusa: Yes, he is a great guy, he delivered as promised. Putting the thing together to start the life of LFP. One thing to say immediately; the Voltage holds. Your voltage will stay above 50 until the battery is squeezed dried of life. Makes it dangerous to use lithium without monitoring. I also did some capacity test and I got 85Ah out of 100Ah with my voltage still around 52. Do you really need to monitor again when a BMS is already doing the monitoring for you? Once the battery discharge limit is reached, the BMS effectively do the disconnection. |

ceaser: Na wa o. 41k
This MakeSkyBkue has become foolishly expensive. They've started flexing muscle. I bought this 60amps for 20k then.
I needed to buy more CC and saw that they've started growing wings. I just went the way of their competitor straight. PowMr product. The last two 60amps I bought was for 23k each. Aside from the fact that PowMr has not been able to come up with a Bluetooth version of their CC unlike MakeSkyBlue, every other thing about their product is as good as, or possibly better than MakeSkyBlue's.
I noticed that the PowMr CC has a menu option/page that shows the error code that the CC may have. The manual teaches you how to interpret the error codes. The MakeSkyBlue does not have that such that if the CC has any issues, you're left with gambling for what the error is. PowMr and Makeskyblue are basically the same, buy whichever one is cheaper Though I've got some favorable experience with makeskyblue where it never failed even when abused, I can't say the same for PowMr. |

queenfav: wow, thanks oga. This solar life is for the brave o.When we are ready to upgrade by adding more panels, we would need to sell off the e pever to buy a 60a CC.I was telling hubby that with these things you have to go hard or go home! And we were happy we got 40a thanks for the link and insight oga. Please,i am.curious.Why is it advisable to run heavy loads during the day when its sunny? Is it that the load won't be relying on the battery backup alone but also from the panels? Yeah, so that the battery won't be drained that quickly as the sun is recharging it that time. |

earthrealm: i also need you to confirm the max Voc of the cc, to be sure it can handle 3 x 300w panels in series Judging by this queenfav: 4 pcs 300w mono panels
40a epev er mppt charge controller I'll say the solar charger controller is already stretched for a 24V system as it currently has 1200w panel while below is the spec of Epever 40A MPPT: Max.PV input power: 12V/520W,24V/1024W Battery voltage range: 9V~32V Max.PV open circuit voltage: 100VDC @OP I'll suggest you get a Makeskyblue 60A Solar Charge controller capable of handling up to 2kw PV even though it has a rated maximum PV of 1440W, the idea is to add two extra PV to boost your total PV to 1800W. Also you can only use the power guzzlers (hood, etc) during peak sun and ditch 'em once the sun is down if you cannot ditch em forever. ceaser: That's the problem bro.

Nairalandmonika: FDA has not approved it because they have not carried out trials but other countries such has France and Australia has carried out trials and found it to be effective. Same with hiv drugs and Cuban antiviral. That's very correct. Though Trump said it's FDA approved. I guess that's where the misconception came from. |

BetaTechnicians: 2ft for 8k ? The market is free Just reporting what a seller said. Not in any way associated with said seller. In open market, any seller can sell at whatever price he likes. The onus now falls on the buyer to buy or not. Also most of these sellers ain't that educated, so I won't be surprised if he is giving me wrong info. |
