Does the DC voltage of an inverter determine the efficiency of the sine wave of an inverter? When you say it supplies more power, what exactly do you mean by that? Is the power here related to the duration of the backup? Because if it is, it only depends on the AH rating of the battery in play.

Backup Time = (Battery capacity x 12V x N x Efficiency of the inverter or pf) / Load (watts)

12V= voltage of the battery
N= number of batteries in the system
Efficiency= 70% ( I usually assume a lesser value of efficiency for a more accurate estimate, but I will use 70% or 0.7 for this calculation)

Backup Time = (18 x 12 x 1 x 0.7)/ 200 = 0.756hours or 45minutes


So ideally you should get a 45 minutes backup time

But in theory things are hardly ideal.

Charging time of battery = Battery Ah / Charging Current

Assuming the UPS has a 2A charging current, it'll take it 9 hours to fully charge the battery

Let's say that this is a battery with 7Ahr capacity and that you want to draw 14A. You'll have to observe the 2C curve (2C means to discharge at 7Ahr*2/h=14A). You'll note that this battery will drop to 9.5V-10V after about 15mins. Of-course this is only true for a fresh from the shelf battery kept at 25 deg.Celsius. Temperature, age and usage negatively affect the performance.

But the truth is, using 18AH battery that is obviously not fully charged to backup a load of 200w may likely not give the desired results.

This is dry season and I need to constantly clean my panels. Pls do I need to disconnect the panel from the CC before cleaning with water or I can just go ahead while still connected. My question may seem stupid as someone may ask me, "do you disconnect during rains or don't you know it's tantamount to rain falling on it?" I ask because splash ing water on it is sudden, cooling it almost immediately and it getting hot again in minutes unlike during rainfall when weather would have cooled it off first and then gradually heat up as sun come back up

Incidentally a medicine shop in my vicinity got burnt few days ago; story is the inverter caused it though i have not been able to get true gist. My colleagues who I've been advising on the beauty and sense in solar are now skeptical. How do I convince them?

Do it very early in the morning or late in the evening. That way you don't have to worry about losing power when the PV breakers are turned off.

I have not put it on a weigh yet(will do that later today) but it feels like a 40 to 45kg pack. FWIW each of cells is 2kg and considering the materials used for packaging anything from 38kg is fine.

How I got mine: Meet with a guy remotely who deals in lithium. So he coupled for me 16 EVE LF105 to make 24V 5.4kwh (actually nominal is 25.6 as each cell is 3.2V) and ofcourse it comes with a BMS and voltage indicator.

His contact is on the battery sticker but you may also PM me if you like to have his details

What's the weight of this battery? Can you type out the contact as it's a bit hard to read off the picture? Thanks.

This theory is flawed. As long as the batteries are not overcharged, staying afloat for a long time should not be an issue; that's where trickle charging comes in. I've seen Ritar batteries stay afloat for six years without any issue with little discharged in between which occurs only during changeover which lasts for less than two minutes when it happens. Your setup even has more time to discharge during the night. Like I said, unless the batteries are constantly overcharged, if not, Simba should be held accountable to honor their warranty.

What inverter and load did you use on it? It's pretty annoying when battery fail so early. Damn, let's hope good lithium will come to our rescue.

Not really correct, a package I bought on 22nd December was picked two days ago. It took 24 days. What I noticed that most 11/11 and other November 2019 packages are yet to make it due to reasons I can't really tell.

Awesome, the cells link connection gauge wire doesn't look less than 10mm². They also ran a 6s2p connection with I guess a LiFePO4 Battery Prismatic Cells. Though a lil rough, it appears solidly built. I hope they used a top-notch BMS. Have you considered changing the crocodile clip to a cable lug to ensure a tighter connection? Thanks for sharing the picture.

In my own case, the manual says once you edit any settings on the SCC and after saving it, you need to disconnect it from the battery and re-connect for the new settings to take effect. I don't know if yours will follow the same manner.

Pls note that you either do that at sundown or if you must do it at daytime, ensure you first switch off your solar panel-SCC MCB or disconnect your solar panels from the SCC before you even think of disconnecting the SCC from the battery.

All my senses were extra alert when I was doing that, all in an effort not to commit that easy-to-make mistake.

At bolded, experience they say is a great teacher, who wants to fry their SCC??

DIY forum...peeps usually love to do it themselves. No offense. So if it won't be much of a problem, you can always share your source. But if peeps still wants you to help them source it, by all means they are always free to contact you.

Actually, if your inverter has a display that shows your load wattage, you should be able to see the load consumption as you add individual load.

To get the idle consumption, unplug all the load and see if there's still any reading on the display. If you get a reading then, that's you inverter idle consumption. If the reading is zero then, it means your inverter is 100% efficient.
What it means is that, it doesn't drain your battery when there's no load on it.

This pics shows mine with a load and without load.

I think the best bet is to check the no load DC draw of the inverter when it is not handling any load.
This is simple to do, just put on the inverter with no load, then place a clamp on the battery terminals and check the no load current draw, then multiply whatever you get with the battery's voltage to determine the power consumed on no load. This is the idle power of the inverter, of course the inverter's display won't show this.
