Please remind us the good things that Obj did
and I will tell you the good things that IBB did
Ohhhh, I hope you are not re-counting the death of Dele Giwa, Gloria Okon, Vatsa as achievements of IBB. Be careful

Not true at all. James Ibori was one of the main sponsors of Yar Adua's campaign. When Yar Adua became President , Ibori got the "keys to the manor" . Ibori influenced the appointment of Aondoakaa and , later, Waziri. That was the end of the war on corruption. This was why Aondoakaa , with Yar Adua's consent, immediately set to work trying to muzzle the EFCC (then still under Ribadu) plus sabotage the case against Ibori at home and abroad. Ibori, in a Nigerian Court , was cleared of over a 100 charges of graft and corruption shocked shocked In the UK meanwhile, Ibori's associates (all far less guilty than the former Governor) have been convicted and jailed !!! To make matters worse ,  Ibori managed to 'convince' Yar Adua to make his  co-defendant and fugitive from UK justice (david Edevbie) the Private secretary of Yar Adua while there was a UK Court warrant for Edevbies arrest  shocked shocked!!! The same Edevbie , now gone underground, was involved in the forgery of Yardy's signature for the budget , which remains uninvestigated till date , while our former President was comatose !! Shall I go on or do you get my drift that Jonathan , with far more baggage than Yar Adua, will be "deader on arrival"  than Yar Adua was?
I wonder why people like you must speak based on assumptions? Ibori did this and that, were you there?

@ Poster,

Obama like other top American officials usually speaks with two tele-prompters mounted in front of him on important ocassions. If you are watching on TV, you cannot see them unless the view is expanded. Using tele-prompters makes one appear to speak from memory. That is the same technology newscasters use.

Obama has perfected the art to the extent that it is hard to tell when he is using it. It is essential in American politics where one slip of the tongue can land you in serious trouble. Here is Obama using a tele-prompter:

MR. PROFESSOR SIR,
FOR 50 YEARS YOU'VE BEEN RECOUNTING THE PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH NIGERIA. YOU HAVE COMPLAINED FOR 50 YEARS. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE ON YOUR PART TO LIBERATE YOUR PEOPLE FROM THIS QUAGMIRE. MANDELA COMPLAINED AND FOUGHT TIRELESSLY.

IT IS EASY TO SIT AND POINT FINGERS BUT WHEN GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY WE MIGHT NOT DO BETTER.

MY BIBLE TELLS ME IN ALL THINGS WE MUST GIVE THANKS. IT IS ON THIS BASIS I CELEBRATE THE EXISTENCE OF NIGERIA AT 50. I AM SURE PEOPLE IN THE MIDDLE EAST/ PALESTINIANS DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT IT MEANS TO CELEBRATE. DESPITE THE HETEROGENOUS STATE OF NIGERIA, WE ARE STILL LIVING IN PEACE. IT IS INEVITABLE THAT THERE MUST BE DISAGREEMENT BUT WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO OVERCOME IT AS A NATION. EVEN HUSBAND AND WIFE DISAGREE (AS A MARRIED MAN, YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN MR. PROFESSOR).

IN SUMMARY SIR, TALK LESS AND ACT. HELP TO PUT AND END TO THIS MENACE.

At least he is a better role model than yourself and those you Idolize. A lot of you have aborted and murdered unborn babies. Now tell me who is better between Tuface who encures the delivery of them and you who murders the babies?

This is democracy for God's sake, Jonathan should allow people to exercise their freedom (Ohakim alone doesn't have that kind of liver). The fact that he perceived these respectable men as not backing should not make him indulge in this ruthless and dastard act. Everybody cannot be singing one chorus for this democracy to thrive, people must have different views and such different views must be respected and considered.
Too quick for what might be false allegation.

I see no reason why we should be arguing over this issue. Laws are made to guide the conduct of man. Every community, every tribe has laws and every individual must abide by it.
Your friend was very aware of the Redeem policy of No sex before marriage. He was even aware of the fact that he will never be married if his fiancee was pregnant so why does he feel the law should be bent for his sake.

It is not compulsory to wed in the church. Rather than cry wolf, he should go and get married in the court. God recognises the court and traditional marriage. There shouldn't be any big deal.

Ojukwu was the cause of his problems. Who told you he stood up for his people? He is an experienced soilder and he knew there was no way he could win that war. He offered all his people to be slaughtered like chickens and he fled. The blood of those innocent slain Igbo people are on his hands.

@Tpiah, obviously, you are not reading and comprehending. The write-up by OP and my take were that the sex of the child(ren) could affect the possibility of divorce NOT that it is the ONLY determinant of divorce! Is that too hard for you to understand.?

So because Mel Gibson, Obama or Bush has daughters and are still married has now meant all marriages with daughters only are ALL still surviving? Or that you can point at ten honest mechanics means ALL mechanics are honest?

The research only says the chances of having a divorce increases by 5% when there is no male child involved. That is the simple outcome of the research, do find a way to comprehend that.
Gbam!! Well said, I rest my case.

@ Beaf,
I would have preferred not to honor you with a response, but felt neutral forumites reading this thread may be misled by responses from people like you.

Since you "put so much thought behind your words" it requires no-brainer to figure out that you did not answer the questions about GEJ's past performances. It also does not require knowledge in rocket science to wonder aloud why all GEJ's campaign coordinators are (just like him) those who have done little or nothing in the years in office. Perhaps you need to lecture us more on putting thoughts behind words, and point out succinctly what the performances of the likes of Alao Akala, Liyel Imoke, Gbenga Daniel (and the rest of the poor performers) have been over their several years in office.

I also do not think it requires a PhD to conclude that all the foot soldiers (zonal campaign coordinators) of GEJ are a bunch of losers who have only used their years in office to loot the treasury of their respective states and hence enrich themselves. If GEJ has been so smart to assemble these idiots, after exhibiting so "much thought behind his actions", I wonder how he's reign will be.

On your shallow response about conflict resolution, how would GEJ have reacted if he does not need Gbenga Daniels to help him mobilize the South west? Your depth of knowledge about current affairs and politics can best be described as laughable, as it seems agreeable to you that GEJ can be preaching free and fair elections on one hand and tacitly supporting anarchy in Ogun state on the other. How else can you explain 9 legislators suspending 14 of their colleagues? I thought democracy is a game of numbers and perhaps in the books of people like you, 9 is a greater number when compared to 14. Yet the best Mr. President can do is to issue a 48 hour ultimatum. I wonder what he'll do next after the 48 hours elapses. I think I know already - he'll withdraw the statement!
Still trying to comprehend what you typed but sorry all I see is jargons. No point made out of this lengthy write-up.

We need MEN not BOYS as President, We need real president and not a ceremonial president.
We need a leader who has experience.
We need then man Alhaji Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida aka IBB[/quote]Hmmm what an awkward contribution. So at Jonathan's age, you still call him a boy, What will you call Obama? A baby. Maybe you are one of those oil bunkerers during IBB's tenure.
