I want to avoid having writings like this scattered all over the place. When I need in future I know to come to just one thread.

The sound "du" is both spiritual and phenomenal. It can be combined in many ways to express ideas. It is never a stand alone, always in a combination. If it occurs alone anywhere it is informal, meaning other parts combined with it were stripped off to give softness in its expression.

Why is it spiritual?
There are different types of clay. A particular type that existed in primordial beginning is the "du" type. It is hard!

To soften and make it pliable for construct it was put into "m", an equivalently spiritual primordial water with flow (rhythym).

The "Dum" product thus became the first man, according to creation story.
This man history called Adam. In Yoruba spirituality he is called Odumila. His cult is called Adimu or Adamu.

Why is it phenomenal?
The color of that primordial "du" was the original black. Its essence is parceled into human consciousness so that we are constantly in awe of its organic state and purity. Humans will always yearn to return to it....to reunite and concile with that beginning.

A desire for reunification to the "du" is given context in various aspects of doctrines for social evolution. As we progress forward in time and newness, we remain attached to "du" and wish that our evolution will land us back to that pure organic beginning.

"Eve" is a principal identity. From it derivatives were created - Life, Love, Live, and so on.

Eve is actually Efe! Eve is also the polar opposite of Dum. While "dum" consist of clay and water, "eve" consist of fire and air. Each exist as a separate creation. When the two energies combine a new creation is produced and we call this emerging product "Life".

So the ground zero, the centerpiece where energies of creation combine to produce Life....we call Ile Ife!

Gelede, the Yoruba masquerade celebrates the essence of feminine energy. One of the masquerades of Gelede is the Efe.

------------------------------------------------------
Break
-------------------------------------------------------

Ile Ife has an indigeneous people and a migrant people.

The indigeneous people possessed the "gn" consciousness. The migrants possessed the "du" consciousness.

The natural colors of the indigeneous was red (crimson). For the migrants it was blue (indigo).

Ile Ife was not an indigeneous name, the migrants brought that name with them when they settled into the Niger-Benue valley. Old Ile Ife was on the bank of River Niger. The new Ife was a relocation.

Ogun was an indigeneous deity and the principal god and protector of Niger-Benue civilization.

The rulers of the Niger Benue civilizations and the migrants from Afro Asia began a new partnership of conquest and dynastic ruling in Old Ife.

The indigeneous deity worship was a synergy with the belief system of the migrants, who were mostly driven out of Afro Asia due to political and religious tumults. Therefore a hybrid worship and integration of cult practices evolved.

Amongst the indigenous of Niger-Benue you will see words like "ogun", "igunu", "ginua", "ogene", "ogoni", "gona", "gana", and so on. They all derived from Ogun the ancestral deity of Old Ife, and the protector of iron mining, a primary mineral resource in the valley.

The Niger-Benue valley has red clay, opposed to "du" of the migrants. Their red clay is the "gn" consciousness.

This consciousness gave formation to the prominence of color red in their social affairs. The kings of "gn" consciousness wear red hats or crowns. They and their priests wear red robes in official engagements.

I will end this here. Some other time I will discuss Oduduwa and Mecca.

Nobody mines a resource underneath without first consulting Ogun.

The similarities in our languages is just too common to say that we did not descend from a common ancestor. So in essence, we are all brothers and sisters who came from the same family tree.

Our languages diverged and now we have different groups.

This is a secret that no one wants to discuss but it is staring at us.

We do not descend from any group in the Middle East. Our ancestors came from Central Africa near the source of the White Nile.

Nigerians have been reacting to the circular from the Executive Chairman of Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Muhammad Nami, to taxpayers over payment of taxes.

The circular, which was an update on palliative measures to cushion the effect of covid-19 on taxpayers, asked corporate organizations in some sectors of the economy to consider making payment of their annual returns earlier than the due date apart from their normal monthly obligations.

According to the circular, the Executive Chairman said, ‘’I wish to specially make an appeal to corporate bodies in the sectors above to go the extra mile at this time to cooperate with us in making special arrangements to pay their taxes. They may consider, for instance, a situation where they can commence payment of their annual returns earlier than the due date apart from their normal monthly obligations.’’

‘’This has become necessary in order to ease some of the cash flow gaps being experienced by the government at this critical time’’.

Some Nigerians took to Twitter to expressed their anger as they believe the government is insensitive to what Nigerians and businesses are going through.

A tweeter user was unhappy as the government is using FIRS to tax companies that are barely surviving.

Few days ago Nami said he had to wipe out the rot left behind by Fowler and start all over. This was before oil price dipped to negative numbers. I guess he did not see that coming.

As it is, we will be running deficits for all revenue targets because many sectors have lost track on their key input factor. The Director, instead of adjusting expectations and recalibrating projected income....is now cutting corners to force the scorecard.

I would like to see how he ends the year...is he going to blame Fowler for short revenue?

Lol.. Mecca claim has nothing to do with religion yet all the sources of mecca claim were Muslims grin

OK. What is the Yoruba name for mecca?
Don't even get me started on the historical inconsistency of the story.
Lets say OK Yoruba have no traditional history and we must allow foreign influences dictate our history. What about the history of mecca? Is the claim consistent with what we know of mecca?

There's nothing like originality in history. Historians aren't creative inventors. It seems you can never understand this

That is why you claim fantasies because you invent while
Historians deal with already available sources
Why not let historians do their job, they already face a lot of challenges from the huge work of debunking old false narratives to finding new sources.

The issue you raised about records of the Dutch and Portuguese is not a bad one at all. But that's more work, finding records and then learning the language to study it and then investigate it's authenticity. Some are already into that but it's not mainstream due to some obvious factors

Funny how those educated by the English you claim are responsible for attacking the mecca claim are the ones who made it popular by putting it in their books.
Funny how all the recaptives/missionaries who dived into Yoruba historiography were connecting Yoruba to mecca, Egypt, Israel not England
What interest did the missionaries have for history in Ifa? How many of those who said oduduwa came from mecca asked the Obadio (oduduwa custodian) first?
How many were initiated?
Answer is none! So stop making silly excuses
If you want to propagate the idea of mecca which is already dying (thank goodness) you need to provide evidence for it... Good luck though because after over 150 years of this claim we haven't seen any evidence
Is there any quarter or historical fact in Ile Ife that says Awori was in Ife? None. So how did modern historians connected Awori with Ife?

They followed footsteps.

If they were looking for evidence of Awori in Ife they would never find it.

The footsteps they followed is oral history, cults, names.

History is not absolute! In fact history is nothing more than a dashboard. If you look in dashboard in your car and it says you are running low on fuel, then you trust it to be accurate and stop for fuel. You dont go grab a stick to dip in your tank to see if fuel is low. If dashboard says your engine oil is low...you trust it. The guages and dials have been calibrated to show certain things. What happens when the calibration fails....what do you do to operate the car? You return to your native sense and follow with practical checks. Simple!

Historians have conflicting stories of Yoruba history. When their calibration fails they default to anthropology. But anthropology itself is an approximation, not a precise and incontrovertible fact. How does one explain carbon dating that says a jug is 1000yrs old? It is approximate based on a artificial calibration or standard.

So dashboards are just that....aids and tools, not absolute.

Therwfore we must not close the door to other valid and convincing inputs which native sense offers.

and what makes you think I've not looked into the Lamurudu and mecca claims? Who hasn't heard that? Even schools were teaching that for decades before more competent historians dedunked it
The question of study should be directed to you, because you rely too much on story not history
I can give you a list of historians whose books you can buy if you are really interested in Yoruba history

PS. No offence taken at all
It is common knowledge that Yoruba had a library of written historical accounts prior to our entry into English colonization and the language of missionaries.

There were written records in Portuguese that documented trade and politics between Yoruba and Portugal, Spain and even Dutch.

Religion was never part of it.

Our history got fvckd up when English missionaries started teaching Bible. Anything contrary to Jesus and Christianity was deleted or suppressed and our customary belief system turned upside down on itself.

So you cannot denounce Yoruba's claim to Mecca when in fact Christian missionaries are on record denouncing our indigeneous holy worship and practices as "heathenism". The same missionaries that said Yoruba is not from Mecca are also the ones that said ESU is devil.

Check this out, this was before missionaries. Where are the Yoruba records of trade and political exchange with Portugal? The second is from a work archived in Johns Hopkins. It is an indictment on Yoruba historians laxity for scholarship.

Our historians are not interested in originality, they only go after works already pioneered and archived as history by English white men...much of which is counter to oral history told by custodians of the records.

English is the mainstream of our knowledge and societal living styles, hence it is the authority which now speaks for our history also. If any author writes of the Meccan story he is immediately attacked.

Meanwhile we dont have historians taking initiatives to explore the history of Yoruba trade with Portugal in 1700s or 1600s because it is not in mainstream language and missionaries took no interest in it. They simply collected them and dumped in their repositories back in England and locked up.

We do not have honest and objective historians. What we have are mouthpieces for English religion and authority on Yoruba beginnings.

Odùduwà is not an Arab man, but according to my findings. There are aborigines living in that land called mecca before the Arab came to pursue or wage war on them. This cause them to desert their land to find a new part. This is common things that happened those days. That is most reason for cross migration.

Then history said Lamurudun who is the father of ODÙDUWÀ and leader of his tribe migrate to a place now called ILẸ̀ IFE. According to my findings on his way coming from Middle East, some of his people who are tired settle in place like Nupe, Borgu and they are Ibariba people.

There have always been a kind of ethnic relationship between tapa and Yoruba. So Lamurudun died on the way, could not reach ILẸ̀ IFE with his people, but his son ODÙDUWÀ took his people to the promise land which is today called ILẸ̀ IFE. The Ancestry home of all Ọmọ Oodua.

So, the history even said that he met some settler in Ìfẹ́ and he introduced the kingship and kingdom administration which Yoruba are known for till today.

Odùduwà gave birth to Okanbi. And it is history that the birth of Oranmiyan came through the mate of ODÙDUWÀ and his son Okanbi with same woman.

That is why it is believe that Oranmiyan is special and powerful, he left ilé ifẹ on special invitations of people of ILẸ̀ IBINU from Ogiso by asking Île ife to send his Prince to help structure the kingship and kingdom of Ado (Edo) . So Oranmiyan went to ilé Ado (Edo) but on getting, he found out that they were aggressive, some of the local chief disagree with the way he ruled them. Spying on him everywhere. He created the structure of kingship and became the first Ọba of Benin. He married one their chief daughter who gave birth to Eweka.

The rebellion within the ADO (EDO) people was too much, so Oranmiyan left everything to go back to ifẹ. So after some time the Ogiso came to beg for him to come back, he said he will not go back to ILẸ̀ IBINU (now known as ILẸ̀ BENIN) instead he asked they should crowned his SON (EWEKA) who is legit direct descendant of ODÙDUWÀ.

ahmedkoded95:
Alhaji Mamman Daura, a nephew of President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the death of Mallam Abba Kyari, the late Chief of Staff to the President.

Recall that Abba Kyari, whose death was announced last Friday, had died of complications from the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

In a tribute to Kyari which was made available to NAN on Friday, Mamman Daura, said Abba Kyari was a man of uncommon attributes who was blessed with mountainous gifts.

He described the former Chief of Staff as a man with uncommon attributes of intelligence, diligence, hard work, loyalty to friends, and worthy causes.

Daura wrote:

“I remember when I employed him as a Reporter in the New Nigerian, I was surprised when he accepted the only job available which was a Proof Reader.

“He was a man who constantly strives to improve himself and he was fortified for success as Chief of Staff by the rigors of a Cambridge education and varied experiences in Banking, industry, investment and journalism.

“He set himself the task of defining the role, functions and status of the Chief of Staff.

“He started by consulting previous incumbents of the position he could reach as a way of educating himself of the challenges ahead of him.

“I firmly believe that all future Chiefs of Staff would be judged by the benchmark of Kyari.

“Kyari was an exacting taskmaster and his staff were relieved if he travelled outside the country, but they valued, respected, and even liked him.

“He was at odds with many senior members of the government on economic policies because he tended to look inward for solutions and was not an ideologue.

“He was heavily influenced by two Nobel Laureates, the great West Indian Economist, Professor Arthur Lewis and the eminent Indian Professor Amartya Sen, the latter he frequently called to exchange views.

“Despite holding firm views, his advice to the President was dispassionate, even-handed and did not hide unpleasant facts, in the best traditions of public service.

“In point of intellect, he stood above all Ministers and Special Advisers in this government. But personally, he was modest, ever willing to learn, ever willing to help others.

“He was a man who lived a fairly simple life and would habitually wear his shoes to the ground before buying a new pair.”
