If you have the money, buy as much of Oando as you can. But you have to be patient until at least next year. The gain will be massive when they declare their results for FY2023 Oando has had some governance challenges in the last 10 years or so in the board room (management/shareholders), SEC troubles, forex losses and interest on loans etc. that affected their performance in the past. They seemed to have turned the corner with the declaration of profits in FY2021 and acquisition of ENI/NAOC which could be a gamechanger. Also, a look at the share prices of its peers on the NSE....that should tell you that OANDO can potentially sell between N50-100 in the next few months, especially when the buyout offer is rejected at the AGM ordered by the court. |

Although my portfolio value dropped slightly after i bought yesterday o. Silly me i thought it was typographical error on the app oo. I now called customer care to complain 😁. They must have had a good laugh.
I’m not moved by daily price movements anyway especially as I’m in it for the long haul. I have also managed to develop some shock absorber from my days in gambling.
Once i hit it big, i quit the 9-5 rate race immediately and ride off into the sunset. OANDO has almost weathered the storm and will clock N50 very soon, especially after the court case. The company made profits in FY2021 and has just acquired ENI/NAOC, another big player in the oil industry. I am sure the minority shareholders that took the case to court are regretting their action now. Anyone that has some idle cash to spare and stake should load it on Oando before Oct10 when the court sits on the case. The price rally after that date may be crazy because Oando is likely to release its financial results for FY2022 shortly before or after that date.. |

ogoo4real: Oando still on full bid @7.70 The minority shareholders are likely to withdraw the court case against Oando, and the AGM (which the Court says should either reject or accept the buyout offer) will definitely reject and kill the buyout offer. Then everything goes back to status quo ante. Oando has had a difficult decade, but a company that is able to acquire ENI/NAOC is definitely not a company doing badly. I pray and hope that the acquisition of ENI/NAOC is by 100% cash consideration....that means the number of OANDO issued shares does not change thereby the additional profits from ENI operations would translate to potentially higher earnings per share (EPS) and dividends per share (DPS), plus further price appreciation for Oando shares on the NSE This is the time for visionary and bold investor to take a position in Oando. This is how some smart people make billions of naira over a short period of time, but the ignorant would always suspect or think that such people are involved in shady deals. Opportunity! Opportunity!! Opportunity!!! Don't say you were not informed or educated about this! |

Frangel: Like Ardova, like Oando.
Ardova came up with a buyout offer of N17.38 prior to delisting. Some 'good' news came out and investors (abi speculators) rushed in and bought the shares even at over N20. Ardova went ahead to delist paying N17.88.
Oando wants to delist, offering N7.07. Some 'good' news has come out and investors (abi speculators) are bidding and projecting the price to hit N100 and above. Na wa!
Oando has a negative book value per share of about N10 as at Q4 2021 (unaudited). So the N7.07 is a generous offer by the majority shareholders for a company worth less than zero and the last Audited accounts states reservations as a going concern. Oando will get easy approval for N7.07 or thereabouts.
The litigation was instituted by some minority holders 'begging' to be bought out and it was upheld. The adjournment is to brief the court on progress made.
They could well sell some warehoused shares at over N8, push through the delisting and buy out at N7.07 or something close. They make money on speculators that didn't exit on time.
For the risk-taker, why not speculate on DanFood or other stocks that have not indicated clear exit prices?
Caveat emptor. It is free market, but there is no need to tell lies or put a spin on matter of general public knowledge! The Court has ordered that an AGM be held for all the shareholders to decide whether to accept or reject the offer.! When did the AGM hold and the offer was upheld? Quote the date and venue if you know for sure! |
Investment › Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by mikeapollo: 11:49am On Sep 06, 2023 |
Frangel: You think those few shareholders did that on their own?
It's okay with your projections. Time clears everything. I might be wrong.
PS: What you quoted was incomplete. I posted in error. I understand your arguments and line of thinking. It makes some sense to be cautious and not over optimistic But I am a shareholder and did not authorize or ask those investors to seek for a compulsory buyout on my behalf. Buyouts should be voluntary. That is why the Court ordered that the shareholders must sanction it at the AGM. I guess the Court was willing to give more time (about 6 months from March when the case was last heard) to see if things could turn around so that the buyout could die naturally, and that seems to have happened now. The buyout offer price of N7.07 would have made sense and succeeded about 3 months ago when the share price was around N5.00. But with the current trend and the ENI acquisition, the buyout offer will die naturally!. No shareholder would accept a buyout for him to make losses. If the OANDO Management offers a higher buyout price and raise it to something reasonable, shareholders may then accept it, and the company can delist I bought a lot of OANDO when the price was around N5, so I have nothing to lose if I received the offer price of N7.07 (but I will reject the offer at the AGM because I need to make more money from future price appreciation, and most shareholders have similar sentiments) |

Oando wants to delist, offering N7.07. Some 'good' news has come out The scenarios are different! In the case of OANDO, the majority of shareholders will decide at an AGM. Recall that the Management of OANDO did not initiate the buyout process; the buyout was triggered/initiated by some aggrieved shareholders who lost patience due to the protracted issues/battles of OANDO and SEC which affected the share price. So the Management only obeyed the Court's order to make an offer in response to the buyout option that was instigated by the aggrieved shareholders, but subject to the approval/acceptance of majority of all the shareholders (rather than the majority shareholder). It is certain that the majority of shareholders will reject the buyout offer at the AGM (most of the deals on the NSE are by informed investors most of whom know the implications). I will be at the AGM to add my voice to the rejection of the buyout offer! Look out for OANDO selling at around N150-200 by next year, after the court case! |

Battle for the soul of OANDO the new bride in town........
Currently trading @7.35 in market....... Went as low as 6.80.........now @7.35.....
I hope shareholders can forced the management to pay higher exit price if the price goes much up than CP...... especially since the case is still in court.........that's if the company will eventually delist self.
Think we've talked about this here as well.
** Caveat: Not to be taking as any form of advice** The buyout offer is just an offer and it ultimately depends on the verdict of the shareholders, not the court. Once the shareholders reject the buyout offer at the AGM (which is now almost certain), the buyout dies automatically, and then the company continues to operate as usual with current shareholders interest remaining intact. With the news of the acquisition of ENI, it is almost certain that the shareholders would reject the buyout offer, because the offer price of N7.07 is even too small for majority who bought the shares at N20 and above. |

We only have governments that want to extort the people. The N750 is high, for a mass transport system with no holdups or traffic jam. They are only reducing the price because they are scared of what might happen if there should be any mass protest against the removal of fuel subsidy and the current hardships in the country The N375 is okay and they should be able to adequately maintain the trains with that, and any further increments in the fares should be gradual |

tundetech5: Nigeria Super Eagles icon Austine Jay Jay Okocha has been reminded of his time as an administrator after his comments on the NPFL in Kenya.
Nigerian football legend Austin Jay Jay Okocha has come under the storm following comments he made about the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL.
According to Pulse Sports, Jay Jay Okocha has revealed that he will not watch the NPFL if there is a Premier League match.
The 50-year-old made the statement during a Premier League trophy tour in Kenya recently.
Okocha on the NPFL Speaking to Kenya-based Capital Sports, the former midfield maestro was honest and brutal with his assessment of the NPFL.
According to him, the Nigeria domestic league is not well-packaged enough to attract followers like him to ditch European leagues.
“I don’t think I’d watch the Nigerian league if there is a Premier League match on the television, that is if I am being honest because the Premier League is more attractive,” Okocha stated.
Our people will fall in love with something that is attractive and well-packaged. I can take the example of South Africa, the locals there attend matches in the stadium because the league is attractive,” he added.
Journalist replies Okocha The comments from Okocha have not gone down well with some NPFL enthusiasts who have taken to social media to respond.
Led by Photojournalist Tobi Adepoju, the former Bolton Wanderers skipper has been criticised for his comments.
In a long-form reply posted on the social media platform, X.com, formerly Twitter, Adepoju went down memory lane to remind Okocha of his in-famous time as Chairman of the Delta State Football Association.
“Okocha was supported by Amaju Pinnick & he was elected as Delta State Football Association Chairman which automatically made him a Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Congress Member,” Adepoju posted.
“He ruined Delta State FA & he was judged to be the most incompetent Delta FA Boss in history. He was forced to resign before the Delta FA Congress impeached him, they were pissed and disappointed.
When football fans call for Ex-Players to lead football administration in the country, I laugh at it. Let's leave them to honour invitations from politicians and play novelty matches.”

Agriculture › Re: Rice Mills In Nigeria Closedown After India’s Ban On Rice Exports by mikeapollo: 11:42am On Aug 31, 2023 |
Botragelad: Alright, mate, let me explain what this news is saying in a simple way. It's about how India's ban on exporting some types of rice has affected Nigeria and other countries that depend on importing rice from India.
Basically, India decided to stop sending out non-basmati rice, which is a cheaper and more common kind of rice, to keep the prices low in their own country. This means that Nigeria and other West African countries can't get enough rice from India to meet their local demands. Nigeria has been trying to produce more rice locally, but it still needs to import some rice to make up for the gap.
Now, because of the shortage of rice from India, the local rice farmers and millers in Nigeria are also struggling. They can't get enough rice to process and sell, and they have to deal with other problems like border closure, sanctions, and bandits. This has caused many of them to shut down their businesses and lose their income. As a result of all this, the price of rice in Nigeria has gone up a lot in the past few months.
Now, to answer your question about whether or not it is the raw rice from India they mill in Nigeria and brand locally produced rice, the answer is no. Nigeria imports mainly Indica white rice from India, which is already milled and polished. Nigeria also produces its own local rice, such as Ofada, Abakiliki, and Lake Rice, which are different from the Indian rice in terms of quality and nutrition. The local rice is milled by local millers who add value to the product and create employment. Nigeria does not import raw rice from India and repackage it as local rice. That would be considered dishonest and illegal. That's my little idea! Even though you make a lot of sense, it is obvious the reason why rice millers in Nigeria are affected is because some of them do process and sell rice imported from India, otherwise there would be no need for them to be so affected to the extent shutting down.! |

Apart from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), no other federal university has increased its fees or permitted to increase its fees.
That's the status quo for now. People will just be exploiting and making life inconvenient for their fellow citizens and they are the same set that will be blaming people at the top for corruption. Shut up if you cannot address the root cause of the problem! Marketers are in business to make profits. If your government is so useless and cannot hedge against the unnecessary price hike of petroleum products, then don't blame the marketers because they may run into losses if they should sell old stock below the landing price of the next consignment. I mean someone is broke and hungry and trying his best to land a job but he's rather receiving rejection mails. What is this?
On Monday, I received a rejection mail from automobile company where I applied for a marketing role. On Tuesday, I received another one from a production factory.
Now I just returned from another job hunting only to open my mail and saw another rejection mail. This very one pain me most because I had high hope on it and i have spent so much on it too. During the second stage of the interview, I can remember how I waited from 8am till 5pm just to see 'Oga', and after seeing him, I began to walk my way home and got home late. I know i'm sounding sentimental here but it's so annoying that i went through all that 'ontop empty belle' and at the end, I wasnt offered the job.
Very very painful and morale killing.
I feel so bad right now.
