You can only fix the power problem in 3 years if you appoint a competent minister who is knowledgeable in the happenings of the power sector.
We cannot fix the power problem in 10 years to come if you maintain a clueless, incompetent and a complete novice as minister!
A word is enough for the wise. There are competent people in the mold of Prof Bart Nnaji that can be called upon to help fix the problem, instead of giving paddy-paddy job to APC boys

Politics › Re: Am On Tour To Understand Causes Of Nigeria’s Epileptic Power Supply: Fashola by mikeapollo: 2:13pm On Mar 16, 2016
IgboGoat:
Nigeria’s Power Minister, Babatunde Fashola, has stated that he’ll do all in his power to end the epileptic power supply bedeviling the nation.

When quizzed recently by newsmen whether there would be an end to the epileptic power supply in the country, the minister noted that having been properly briefed “in papers, files and memos” since he assumed office, of the situation in the sector, he had taken it upon himself to go round the country and have an on the spot assessment of the situation.

He however noted that what he had seen so far had given him hope that there would be light at the end of the tunnel.

“This problem can be solved, it is a problem that has challenged us for a long time, not only am I going around to understand the situation, am at Ugwuaji now in Enugu, I’m going around to understand what I’m supposed to manage, I’ve been briefed in papers, in files and in memo, am going from power plants to power plants, from transmission sites to transmission sites, what I see convinces me that this problem can be solved, I’m optimistic that it can be solved, it just needs for us as a people to understand the system better and know how it works.

“I am going to be dedicating my time to breaking down all technical issues that have been sounding so heavy over decades so that the average Nigerian can understand how the system works. Our people must know that if people break down pipelines, you know that you are breaking the system, no matter how angry you are, a broken pipeline is going to affect you because you won’t have power, if people feel that the best way to secure employment for their colleagues in the union is to shut down the power plants, the truth is that they are going to hurt more people than the people they seek to protect.

“If people think that if there is a restructuring going on in any government agency, and they fear that most of their colleagues will lose work and the answer is to shut down gas stations, the truth is that more people that they seek to protect would be hurt than those they want their jobs secured, for me everybody must understand how your action or inaction affects the system, once this is done, I think I see a better tomorrow clearly,” he noted.

A foolish country with incompetent people handling very critical sectors!
We have had problems with power/electricity for over forty years, and a clueless minister is just going on a useless, money-gulping tour to ''understand' the problem.
Let me ask, what plans can he marshal to fix the problem after the time wasting tour?
There are competent engineers that can do this job e.g. Bart Nnaji, but Buhari decided to give job to APC boys
Foreign Affairs › Man Flogs His Wife Over Virginity Issue by mikeapollo(op): 12:51pm On Mar 16, 2016
Man lashes wife over ‘false’ virginity claims

A HARARE man whipped his wife for claiming that she was a virgin before he married her after he discovered that she was not during their honeymoon, the Civil Court has heard.

The court heard that after Shepherd Musekiwa discovered that his wife, Patricia, was not a virgin during their honeymoon and he lashed her as punishment with a whip he bought in Mbare.

Patricia was seeking a protection order against Shepherd. She also told magistrate Mrs Barbra Mateko that Shepherd had also resorted to “manufacturing” allegations against her in a bid to divorce her and bring in his girlfriend.

“I am suffering in my marriage,” Patricia said. “My husband bought a whip which he uses to assault me and I have scars on my back as proof of his abuse. He is chasing me out of our matrimonial house.

“Each time he wants to bring home his girlfriends, he manufactures allegations against me and lashes me with his whip so that I run out of the house, creating space for him and his girlfriend.

“He calls me all sorts of derogatory names and he labels me a prostitute.”

Shepherd denied the allegations.

He told the court that he has never abused his wife despite “a few marital disputes that occurred”.

“The main problem is that she lied to me that she was a virgin before I married her, only to find out that she was not after the wedding,” Shepherd said.

“She used to deny me sex before I married her saying she was saving herself for marriage but she was lying. I have never abused her in any way except that we only have marital disputes just like any other family.”

Mrs Mateko ordered Shepherd to stop abusing his wife in any way and to keep peace with her at all times.

Crime › Re: Police Rescues Kidnapped Bauchi Girls Forcefully Converted To Islam by mikeapollo: 10:41am On Mar 16, 2016
crownwealth:
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have rescued three teenage girls, who were abducted in Bauchi State and forcefully converted to Islam.

The Prison Inmate Development Initiative, a non-governmental organisation, handling the matter, told one of our correspondents that the girls were handed over to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 12, Bauchi, Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin, on Tuesday, by the Shari’ah Commission in the state.

SUNDAY PUNCH had reported on March 6, 2016, that Blessing Gopep, 13, was abducted by two men identified as Iliya and Umaru, both living in Alkaleri, Bauchi State.

Blessing and her friend, Mary, were on their way back to Jos after spending their holidays with Blessing’s uncle in Bauchi in August, 2015.

Her father had said Blessing and Mary had gone to the Alkaleri motor park, and while they waited on the bus for other passengers, two men, identified as Iliya and Umaru, arrived at the park on a motorcycle and abducted Blessing.

On November 19, Linda Christopher was abducted by one Mallam Shagari in Tarsha Durumi village, while Progress Jacob, 13, was abducted by Mallam Musa in the Yelwa, Sabon Kaura area, both in Bauchi State, on her way back from church on January 3.

According to Ms. Gobet, Progress’ aunt, the teenager went to church on the morning of January 3, 2016 and did not return when the church was presumed to have closed at about 10.30am.

She was allegedly abducted in the Yelwa, Sabon Kaura Area of Bauchi State by one Mallam Musa on her way back from church, which is said to be a few metres away from her aunt’s residence.

The distressed aunt said she reported the case to the traditional ruler (Seriki) of Sabon Kaura as well as the Yelwa Police Station, which only took her statement and directed her to inform them when she found Progress.

She added that all efforts to locate the ‘missing’ girl proved abortive until a letter was delivered to her from the Bauchi State Shari’ah Commission, informing her of Progress’ conversion to Islam.

Sixteen-year-old Linda, a secondary school pupil in Enugu, was seen with one Mallam Shagari at Tarsha Durumi village in Bauchi State on November 19, 2015.

It was learnt that Linda had left Enugu four days earlier to join her parents, who lived in the Katanga Giwa village of Bauchi.

Her parents were notified of her whereabouts by a kinsman, who knew the family.

Just like the Jacobs, her parents got a letter from the Shari’a commission, notifying them of their daughter’s custody and her conversion to Islam.

SUNDAY PUNCH had reported the failure of the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, to rescue the girls one week after the newspaper had reported the abduction.

The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Police Command, Mr. Baba Tijjani, confirmed the release of the girls in an interview with The PUNCH on Tuesday.

Tijjani stated, “The girls have been released. They were not held by the Bauchi State Shari’ah Commission; they volunteered to become Muslims on their own and reported themselves to the Da’awah & Islamic Education Department, which took them to the Bauchi State Shari’ah Commission.

“Now, they have been produced. Progress Jacob and Linda Christopher have been released to their parents while Blessing Gopep’s parents have been told to come tomorrow (Wednesday) and they will go home with their daughter.”

When asked if the case would be treated as a criminal case and the culprits prosecuted, the police commissioner said, “We just released the girls to their parents. The investigations are still ongoing and we will come out with the details after the investigations.”

The Executive Director, PIDI, Mr. Mbami Sabka, who also confirmed the rescue to The PUNCH on the telephone on Tuesday, said he was glad that effort to rescue the girls was not wasted.

He added that this was the beginning of the release of more child brides.

Sabka said, “I am extremely grateful to PUNCH newspapers for their help. We hope that other perpetrators would learn from this. We, as an NGO, won’t stop at this; we will continue the fight for the release of child brides. An end must be put to this illegal act.

“The police have asked the Shari’ah Commission to bring the abductors involved because the girls didn’t walk to the commission by themselves; someone brought them.”

Blessing’s father, who couldn’t contain his excitement while speaking on the telephone, said he was very happy to have his daughter back.

He said, “I have waited so long for this day to come; it has been my only wish. I just want to thank God for bringing my daughter back to us. I am extremely happy; words fail me to express myself. I also want to thank PUNCH newspapers for their help.”

Blessing’s sister, Happiness, said since receiving the news, she had been restless.

“I’m boarding a bus first thing tomorrow to Bauchi. I can’t wait to see my sister,” she stated.

Jacob, who is Progress’ father, stated that he was happy to see his daughter again.

He thanked everyone that helped in his daughter’s release.

He added, “I have informed everyone in the village about her release; they are all expecting us. We are with the Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State. My daughter, Progress, is fine but we are a bit worried about her condition.

“She was asked to identify us as her parents and she did so by pointing at us but she did not speak to us. She only shook her head or nodded to questions.

She confirmed she was not sexually molested by anyone. The commissioner said she would be released to us when the medical examination has been concluded.”

Linda’s mother, Mrs. Onah, added, “She looks fine but we have not spoken to each other yet, although we sat together today. We were told the girls were released because they were not up to 18 years old and could not make decisions on their own.

“They are undergoing medical examinations as we speak and we heard the results will be released after three days. I am happy to see my daughter again.”

PIDI had written letters to the state Commissioner of Police and the National Human Rights Commission but got no response before taking the cases to Amnesty International.

SUNDAY PUNCH’s campaign on the abduction of 14-year-old Ese Oruru from Bayelsa State on February 28 had led to her release within 48 hours from her captivity in the Tofa area of Kano State.

The #FreeEse campaign, launched by PUNCH, had led to Ese’s release and return to Yenagoa, while her abductor, Yunusa Dahiru, aka Yellow, is currently facing trial in the Bayelsa State capital.

Where did God tell you that John the Baptist is the last of such prophets? You must have been taught by your Pharisees masters about how to read your mind into the scriptures.

damiloladuke:
Malawian President Peter Mutharika on Sunday attacked Prophet TB Joshua over an alleged prophecy that he would die before April 1.

Speaking on state TV at a rally in his capital Lilongwe, the president said:
“I’m told there is a man in Nigeria called Joshua and he is saying that Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe and Peter Mutharika will die before April 1. Let me tell you, Joshua… you will fail. What you did in 2012 will not happen again this year,”In 2012, Joshua reportedly predicted the death of a president of an unnamed southern African country. Mutharika’s brother, Bingu, who was president at the time, did die within the predicted timeframe, giving the prophesy strong currency in Malawi.

In January, Joshua reportedly gave a televised prophecy, telling his congregation to pray for the leaders in southern Africa, saying: “End of February to April this year, peculiar months for Southern Africa.”

Mutharika questioned Joshua’s credentials as a prophet, pointing to the collapse of a guesthouse in his sprawling Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) in Lagos in September 2014, which left 116 people dead, mostly South Africans.
“Why did he not foretell this tragedy? This all shows that he is a liar. He just wants to raise money.”
Mutharika is in his mid 70s and has pledged to be around in 2019 for the next presidential elections, and in also 2024, when — if re-elected — he will wrap up his last term .Mutharika came to power in 2014 after defeating Joyce Banda.

Banda, who succeeded Bingu Mutharika, made several visits to the Nigerian headquarters of Joshua’s church and once described the evangelist as her “spiritual father”.

This man may be going senile.
You claim you were told a story and you have not bothered to confirm the authenticity before mentioning names and attacking the integrity of a man that is thousands of miles away from you. That shows this man lacks matured wisdom. It smacks of foolishness.
TB Joshua has never mentioned the name of Robert Mugabe in his prophecies. He speaks in parables, so if people misconstrued his prophecies and decided to bring in Mugabe's name because of his old age, TB Joshua cannot be held responsible.
But many people especially some Pharisee Nigerians will be s happy to read any bad news about TB Joshua.

Some of us have always known him to be fake. When 90% of a man's vision is evil, his deliverance testimonies are confessions of witches and wizards, deliverance services are magic-filled and most importantly no sermon on salvation but how to sell anointed water.

He has no history of his own salvation. Who preached to him? which church was he mentored and trained? Which bible school did he attend? He has no root in Christianity he is just a magician.
Foolish protégé of the Pharisees!
What is the history of the history of the salvation of John the Baptist, Elijah, Jeremiah, Moses etc.? Who preached to them or mentored or trained them? Which Bible school did they attend? The people who attended Bible school were the Pharisees that persecuted the prophets of God and our Lord Jesus Christ.
God does not need the approval of Theology school graduate before He can anoint another man!
By their fruits we shall know them. Bring out the fruits of your ''Bible school prophets'' and let's compare with the abundant fruits of TB Joshua.
You have all failed. if TB Joshua is a magician, tell your private jet flying, money-mongering Pharisees fellowship of Nigeria pastors to go and deliver him. Simple.

Politics › Re: Aregbesola To Create 31 Local Councils More In Osun by mikeapollo: 10:14am On Mar 09, 2016
Monimatic:
The governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola, has announced the creation of 31 new Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs, by his administration.
Mr. Aregbesola stated this Tuesday in a state‎ broadcast to the people of the state. He said additional 31 Local Council development Areas, 3 area councils and two administrative offices were created.
The governor said his administration would make ‎judicious use of its revenues in a way that increasing the number of councils will least constitute any financial burden.
Mr. Aregbesola also announced the dissolution of the management committees of the existing 30 Local Councils and Area Office, their executive secretaries, deputy executive secretaries, members, special advisers and other functionaries.
The government had sent a request for additional local councils to the state House of Assembly, which later passed the bill.
Speaking on why the state was creating more councils at a time of financial challenges, Mr. Aregbesola said his administration had given the decision sufficient consideration, and had put in place measures to cut cost.
He added that the responsibilities of the new councils include bringing development to the people, managing the markets, generating more revenue, amongst others.

The governor said the state would be saving huge cost with the new councils. He said no new appointment would be made as the same number of staff will still run all the councils.
‎He said the entire local government system would be managed by Council Managers for three months. The managers are to be appointed and deployed by Local Government Service Commission from among the substantive grade level 14 officers in the local governments.
‎”Many would be wondering and asking: why create more councils at this special time of financial challenges? We have also given sufficient consideration to this. With this new parliamentary system, it will cost less to run the new councils and save a lot of money for the government than in the past.
“The primary responsibilities of our new local government system are sanitation, market management and revenue mobilisation and generation. This is consistent with local government administration worldwide.
“The beauty of this new system is its parliamentary nature, which requires the chairman and the vice chairman to be elected by the councillors from among their own ranks, thereby saving cost,” the governor said.

If this is true, then I can only reach a conclusion:
We have a completely clueless and incompetent man as governor of Osun State.
This man must be high on some drugs or something! You cannot fund what you have now and you are creating 31 more without any plans on how to fund them! Only fools do that!

Cheap propaganda! Who trained him on how to make the drones? Which country facilities and infrastructure is he using to make the drones? Which country's electricity and research grants did he use to make the drones?
The truth is he is not the only person that may be working for the US Army. There will be several other people from different countries who have been empowered by the US and given the opportunity to excel.
The credit of what is achieved in US goes to US. Nigeria should lay claim to what is achieved in Nigeria. Let's stop the ambush of other countries' success stories

You can do a lot with your GPA. That is above average. Very many schools abroad will accept that for Masters degree. It is not true that you must do a PGD(except maybe in Canada). Virtually all the universities in UK and very many good schools in US, Australia etc will accept your GPA for a straight Masters. Do not be discouraged at all by anyone.

Which beats did he produce? Did he originate that style of beat? That beat was originally produced by Ghananian musician Pappy Kojo in his ''Tonga'' song.
All Nigerian producers/musicians do nowadays is to steal beats and rhythms coming from Ghanaians and then start claiming as theirs. No creativity or originality. Just copying the hiplife and Azonto beats of the Ghanaians

The EFCC must be drunk or joking!
The Ooni represents the Yoruba race in its entirety!
They have to wait until when he vacates the thrown before the EFCC can do him anything. What were they doing before the man became Ooni?
Case closed

I believe in the miracles of God for my own benefits and gain. Not peril.
I am a beneficiary of the countless miracles that God has used TB Joshua to do in my life!
You are the one that ignores God's goodness to your peril. You will eventually believe when you find yourself in a deep shit or sick and need help!
I wont wait till I fall into shit before I appreciate and believe God's miracles!

believe this miracle at ur own risk, the other month twas the mercy land pastor that healed someone whose dick refused to relax after sex now it's TB Joshua. Hmmm! End time miracles
You are very ignorant. Comparing TB Joshua who has been used by God to perform great and amazing miracles for more than 25 years to another wannabe pastor who just started imitating TB Joshua just yesterday?
This clip is old. More than 2 years old. It happened around 2012-2013. The mere fact that somebody just posted it here does not mean it is a new video.
Please DO NOT compare TB Joshua's miracles with those of any other pastor/churches. He started his miracles at a time when no one believed it could be real. He is the one that introduced recorded ''before'' and ''after'' scenes, prayer line, use of authentic medical reports, healing of HIV and deadly cancers of different parts of the body, LONG BEFORE NOW(more than 25 years ago). Where was your Mercy Land and other pastors that now claim to heal or deliver people at that time? Even today, all what the other pastors do is to watch Emmanuel TV and imitate/copy whatever TB Joshua does!

Another foolish Igboman goes to develop and enrich SOUTH West. Don't even tell me about nearness to raw materials (Economics 101), as there are no tomato farms in Lagos. There are no motor raw material parts in Anambra/ Enugu, yet Innoson is producing from there. So there is no excuse for Umeofia.

These types of Umeofia Igbos - and there are millions of them- are doomed until they start asking why other rich private Nigerians are not investing in Igboland as they (these Igbos) do in other parts of Nigeria.
Do you know about other factors that influence location of industries, like proximity to market, availability of skilled labour, environmental factors, peaceful atmosphere etc? The agitations going on the south east is not good for attracting investors

I can't LAFF pls, what in the first place is Nigeria exporting to Ghana. When despite our population we still import chicken, we import our agro needs to the extent of common toothpicks.

I stand to be corrected, only educationists (teachers and lecturers) and corruption is what I know we export to Ghana

grin grin grin grin grin
Nigeria exports teachers and lecturers to Ghana? No way! It is rather students(corruption and nuisance attitude) that we export to Ghana!
Have you ever been taught by Ghanaian teachers in your secondary school days? If so, you would know that Ghanaian teachers are much better than Nigerian teachers!

Publicity stunt. Using the goodwill of Soyinka to deceive the people. You are owing workers many months of salary, medical doctors have been on strike for about 4 months, roads are in bad shape, then you are coming to show us a high school named after the respected Wole Soyinka!
Governance is more serious than the charade going on in some states, both APC and PDP!

oh please! Whatever happened to artistes like Dare, Simi, Timi Dakolo, Waje, Asa and Bez.....it's not as difficult as you lot like to spread to find quality artistes in Nigeria. If the American White people Grammys have refused to acknowledge them because they only see Angelique, doesn't mean we do crap music. Angelique is the safe choice that they're used to

Save for Wombolombo, Angelique is mostly not on the airwaves, not every white endorsed thing should be worshipped.
Most of the so called Nigerian musicians are mostly copy-cats. Virtually no originality in what they release as songs. Except maybe Asa and a few others. And I believe Asa will win something very big (globally) in the nearest future.

Okotie taking on tCAN, PFN and their members e.g Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor. interesting!
Really interesting!
I remember in 2001 or there about when the same Pastor (sic) Okotie, and the PFN made up of Oritsejafor, Ashimolowo Bisop Mike Oknokwo etc ganged up to persecute Prophet TB Joshua who they accused of being fake. In fact Pastor Chris Oyakhilome was not spared for coming our boldly to endorse TB Joshua as real and genuine.
Fast forward to 2016. The people who called themselves ''holy;; and every other person a ''sinner;; are not exposing their greed in public.
First. Okotie who says he is holy ghost carrier (and TB Joshua a devil) had to divorce his wife (a mother of 3 from previous marriage) because of allegation of ''Ogbanje'' or evil spirit. This is came some years after they had been married and enjoying the 'thing' together. Pastor could not perform deliverance on his wife. Before then, the pastor had said ''God'' told him he would win the 2003 and 2007 elections!

Then came the numerous scandals of Ayo Oristejafor that involve money, money, and just money.

When I look back now, I pity the innocent people who have been misled by these Pharisees to condemn and speak against an innocent TB Joshua who has not opened his mouth to attack them in return. By their fruits you shall know them
Big shame
Politics › Re: What Went Wrong With Fashola? by mikeapollo: 11:25am On Feb 09, 2016
chivic:
Most Nigerians will agree with me that among the current ministers,Fashola is one that that stands out and with him in this current cabinet, a lot of us have great optimism that at least he will deliver.
In fact, Buhari's exclusive trust and believe in him made him to attach a combination of portfolios to him, believing that once he can deliver, then his administration would receive a lot of applause. It is worth mentioning that Fashola's success can earn Buhari a return ticket.

However, the recent increase in electricity tariff is not only shocking, but heart rending.
What went wrong?who advice him?who has brainwashed our guy? is there something at the presidency that makes people with good intention to begin to think upside down? Would Fashola in his smart reasoning ability have taken this, if it has been proposed in the last administration?does it make sense at all?
How on earth will the government increase Tariff for no light?are we not already paying more than what we get?Why don't the tell us that once we start receiving light on an average of 12 hours per day, then the Tariff of that area, region or Zone will be increased.?

Something has gone wrong! If even Fashola can confidently think like this, then we need an emergency prayer.

I wonder why many people get deceived by media hype!
Nothing has happened to Fashola. He is still what he was as Lagos governor: clues and without any ingenuity. He only came to benefit from the ground work of Tinubu! But people were swayed by the ''eye-service''. Can you tell me any meaning Fashola did that was not originally planned and projected by Tinubu? In his second term, he did NOTHING! He ended up destroying LASU after recklessly increasing tuition fees to N300-350k, caused a 4-month doctors strike, extortion of money from Lagosians, Lekki tollgate. spending 78million on his personal website(I wonder what will be left if every governor spends this recklessly on their personal website), drilling a single borehole for N70m in Ikeja etc. Daylight robbery!
He has just brought his antecedents into the Buhari administration and we are all witnessing what he was busy doing in Lagos....increasing electricity tariffs when there is nothing to show for

They should deliver service first before increasing Tariff. We are currently paying more than we are getting. And yet they are forcing us to pay more again for a futuristic promise. We need to occupy Nigeria for this.
