Politics › Re: What Went Wrong With Fashola? by mikeapollo: 11:23am On Feb 09, 2016 |
chivic: Most Nigerians will agree with me that among the current ministers,Fashola is one that that stands out and with him in this current cabinet, a lot of us have great optimism that at least he will deliver. In fact, Buhari's exclusive trust and believe in him made him to attach a combination of portfolios to him, believing that once he can deliver, then his administration would receive a lot of applause. It is worth mentioning that Fashola's success can earn Buhari a return ticket.
However, the recent increase in electricity tariff is not only shocking, but heart rending. What went wrong?who advice him?who has brainwashed our guy? is there something at the presidency that makes people with good intention to begin to think upside down? Would Fashola in his smart reasoning ability have taken this, if it has been proposed in the last administration?does it make sense at all? How on earth will the government increase Tariff for no light?are we not already paying more than what we get?Why don't the tell us that once we start receiving light on an average of 12 hours per day, then the Tariff of that area, region or Zone will be increased.?
Something has gone wrong! If even Fashola can confidently think like this, then we need an emergency prayer.
I wonder why many people get deceived by media hype! Nothing has happened to Fashola. He is still what he was as Lagos governor: clues and without any ingenuity. He only came to benefit from the ground work of Tinubu! But people were swayed by the ''eye-service''. Can you tell me any meaning Fashola did that was not originally planned and projected by Tinubu? In his second term, he did NOTHING! He ended up destroying LASU after recklessly increasing tuition fees to N300-350k, caused a 4-month doctors strike, extortion of money from Lagosians, Lekki tollgate. spending 78million on his personal website(I wonder what will be left if every governor spends this recklessly on their personal website), drilling a single borehole for N70m in Ikeja etc. Daylight robbery! He has just brought his antecedents into the Buhari administration and we are all witnessing what he was busy doing in Lagos....increasing electricity tariffs.
They should deliver service first before increasing Tariff. We are currently paying more than we are getting. And yet they are forcing us to pay more again for a futuristic promise. We need to occupy Nigeria for this. |

Then they move on to air crashes. Ofcourse planes will always crash- as long as safety is not ensured and then weather plays a role at times.
TB Joshua talked about the location of Malaysia air.. It was no where near where he predicted.
Then they talk about one governor losing their seat of course each election cycle we always have the courts up turning victories.
Still gullible people call them Daddy and worship them rather than God. Europe and America with less of these charlatans have developed far and beyond. Yet we supposedly godly people remain backwards. Please leave TB Joshua out! He is different from the rest of the pack You surely don't know what you are talking about the Malaysian plane. TB Joshua prophesied about the location of the plane to be in Indian Ocean, and it was exactly where he said it would be. He even further to say that some debris of the plane have been washed ashore and gave a vivid description and everything came to pass 100%! TB Joshua is different. Other pastors are the ones struggling and forcing themselves to be like him and be reckoned with as ''prophets''. TB Joshua's prophecies did not start last year or 2 years ago. He has over 20 years of impeccable accuracy in prophecy. He even forwarned about the unfortunate incident that happened to his church |

TolstoyFan: Following the presentation of the 2016 budget by President Muhammadu Buhari to the joint National Assembly, PDP chieftain and former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani- Kayode has said the budget is laced with insincerity. Fani- Kayode made this known in a statement he signed yesterday and made available to journalists in Abuja. According to the statement, "The 2016 budget is fueled by insincerity, shrouded in fantasy, built on tall dreams and spawned by deceit, ignorance and the illusion of change. It is bloated, unrealistic, expensive, cosmetic and it will not result in anything good.
“In order to fund part of the budget the government intends to borrow money and this will throw our country into even greater debt. What a tragedy this is given the fact that in 2007 Nigeria was debt-free. The Buhari administration is spending money like a drunken sailor and they are borrowing as if there is no tomorrow, mortgaging the future of our nation and our children.
"We need far more fiscal discipline and seriousness than that if our government really wishes to improve the economy and better the lives of ordinary people. Meanwhile the Federal Government has said that President Goodluck Jonathan is responsible for today’s long fuel queues even though he left office 7 months ago.
"They seem to have forgotten that in 2012 it was their group, led by Bola Tinubu, Nasir El Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi and President Buhari himself that aggressively opposed deregulation and almost brought the whole country to a standstill with protests and riots all over the place in their efforts to prevent the government from removing the oil subsidy.
“Had it not been for their pettiness, lack of understanding, shortsightedness and double standards the subsidy would have been removed three years ago and fuel queues would have been a thing of history. Sadly they lacked the foresight to appreciate the virtues of that policy and today they have the nerve to blame Jonathan for the mess that they themselves essentially created. They have been in power for 7 months now: it is time for them to step up to the plate, start taking responsibility for their own actions, do a better job and stop blaming Jonathan for their own miserable and avoidable failures.”

centvin008: The Federal Government on Tuesday in Abuja earmarked N433.4 billion in the 2016 budget for its services in the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing led by Babatunde Fashola. President Muhammadu Buhari stated this on Tuesday in his 2016 budget speech delivered at the Joint session of the National Assembly. He said it was the intention of government to raise the percentage allocation for capital expenditure in future. “To deliver our development objectives, we have increased the capital expenditure portion of the budget from N557 billion in the 2015 budget to N1.8 trillion in the 2016 budget. “For the first time in many years, capital expenditure will represent 30 per cent of our total budget. “In future years, we intend to raise the percentage allocation for capital expenditure,” he said. Buhari said that the measure became necessary in fulfillment of the government’s promise to align expenditure to long-term objectives and government’s commitment to sustainable development. According to him, this increased in capital expenditure commits significant resources to critical sectors such as Works, Power and Housing to the tune of N433.4 billion. In a breakdown, Transport would gulp N202.0 billion; Special Intervention Programmes – N200.0 billion; Defence – N134.6 billion; and Interior – N53.1 billion. The President said these investments in infrastructure and security were meant to support the nation’s reforms in the Agriculture, Solid Minerals and other core job-creating sectors of the nation’s economy. “We will invest to safeguard lives and property. We will invest in equipping our farmers with the right tools, technology and techniques. “We will invest in empowering and enabling our miners to operate in a safe, secure and humane environment. “We will invest in training our youths, through the revival of our technical and vocational institutions to ensure they are competent enough to seize the opportunities that will arise from this economic revival,” Buhari said. NAN reports that the President presented a budget of N6.08 trillion for 2016 with a revenue projection of N3.86 trillion, resulting in a deficit of N2.22 trillion

abbey621: In the States, people pay anywhere from $60 to $300 per month for electricity, if we want stable electricity in Nigeria we have to be ready to pay 10,000 to 50,000 Naira per month, unless the government is willing to subsidize. We would all like to blame the government for not providing stable electricity but how many people actually pay their electricity bills? Some people would even risk their lives by tapping current from the electricity pole or connecting wires all over their homes. The real solution here is to leave electricity out of the hands of the Government and put it in the hands of private companies, let them charge whatever price and let's have a healthy competition just like in advanced countries. This way anybody that wants electricity would sign up with those companies, pay a security deposit and then get a meter. When we give those companies full control instead of this pseudo privatization then our electricity situation will surely improve! Did you do a proper analysis before comparing the US to Nigeria? The minimum wage in US is about $10-$15 dollars per hour. So people can use their 4-5 hours pay to settle their electricity bill for the whole month. What is the minimum wage in Nigeria and what is the electricity tariff? Do the maths and let us know the percentage of the minimum wage that you expect Nigerians to pay for electricity in a month. The truth is we have a reckless capitalist as minister(sic) of power in Nigeria who has a penchant for extremely commercializing and monetizing every service/product at his disposal |

citizenisb: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/12/fg-pushes-for-electricity-tariff-increase/
MINISTER of Power, Works and Housing Mr. Babatunde Fashola, said Nigerians should expect increase in electricity tariff in no distant time. This is as he also indicated the Ministry of Petroleum has signified their interest to build certain critical pipelines to transport gas to the power plants that will add another 2,000 mega watts to the national grid within 12-15 months.
According to him, “By far the most complex challenge is the problem of tariff. It is complex because it is more in the hands of citizens than in the hands of Government.
“The role of Government is to set the tariff and in doing so, Government has committed to what is called a Multi-Year Tariff Order. This was done in order to attract investors to the market; otherwise we will not have achieved the privatization if the price of the product is not attractive to the investors.
“The tariff is the price of producing power. It covers cost of generation, gas purchase, transportation, transformers, staff costs and so on, disaggregated and charged per kilowatt/hour to make the business of power profitable.
“What Government did was to spread it over a number of years so that the impact is not felt at once but over a periodic incremental process. I know that it has been a contentious matter, but I make this fervent appeal to consumers to give us the benefit of doubt, to forbear and accept it. As useless as ever. Shaking my head for people who are deceived to believe that this clueless man ever had anything to offer the masses! If someone could deny thousands of students access to university education for almost 3 years by recklessly increasing tuition fees from 25,000 to 300,000 such a person can never be a friend of the suffering masses of this country.
