Oil will never be finish, we need oil for medicine, drug manufacturing, the air industry, petrochemical and many more. We can't continue having the least productive people controlling Nigeria most critical industry
The price of oill will not be as high as it was.

It will get to the point where all these foreign companies that have been doing all the hard work, the important work will leave it for the Nigerians to feed on the scraps whilst simultaneously running the infrastructure into the ground.

Who cares. Oil is finished.

Time to break up the country. Let them keep the oil and Abuja.

By 2050 Abuja will look just like Daura...

From this report Wike is clearly trying to protect the thieves by shielding them from interrogation. I know EFCC is one of Buhari's dog, but they should go to EFCC if they are not guilty of any financial crime.
The state government cites a perpetual injunction obtained in 2007 barring the EFCC from probing its accounts.

Insanity. And it isn't just Wike but Amaechi who was/is being protecting/protected.

They are ALL crooks.

You should go and visit, speak with the people there. Ask them how things were 6 years ago as opposed to now.

He's the type of governor that the rest of Nigeria is accustomed to but in Cross River he's an anomaly.

Family › Re: What Do You Think Is Wrong With African Style Of Parenting? by mmsen:
Nigerian parenting is far from the best. The country is a result of the values of habits of those who raise children, remember that when you next make such outlandish claims OP.

People who lack self-respect and self-discipline cannot be expected to teach such to their children and that is the case with the average Nigerian.

If they possessed such traits they wouldn't put themselves in disadvantageous situations (by having too many children) and then justify all manner of evil to get themselves out of the situation.

lmao, yes it does, but when they are doing woefully just as their brothers up north, are they worth fighting for? What's the use of having him there if he can't do anything up there other than service his pocket? I should be fighting for him to be there for his pocket?

Most people on this platform sound ridiculous. Most of you crying here actually picked Atiku over Buhari. I mean picking one of 2 devils when there are younger and more vibrant candidates to choose from.

In 2023, take your voter's card and make a choice when it matters, and make sure it's the right choice. For now, let's all enjoy the rubbish we brought in twice.
Atiku and Buhari were two AWFUL options that I would not wish upon my worst enemy,

BUT, when it comes to politics you have to go for the incremental improvements and Atiku is a tiny improvement on Buhari.

Ideally there would be no northern candidates until their literacy rates are above 50%.

Just shut up and give it a rest already. Not that those appointees from the south have bettered your life in anyway. Southern leaders aren't any better. They are all bunch of blockheads. Instead, you should demand for good leaders but rather, you are more concerned where the leader is coming from.

I'm not taking away the fact that this useless govt has divided this country with nepotism, but ask yourself as a southerner what these southern appointments have done for you or your immediate surrounding. North and southern leaders are all the same thieving good for nothing blockheads who have nothing to offer you average Nigerians that should rather be fighting for good governance rather than worrying about where those who govern come from. When you elect the right persons, they make the right decisions including nepotism free appointments like you all wanted.
You can claim that the north and south are the same but all the indices show that the north is significantly worse. So yes, it does matter where they're from. They might all be bad but some are much worse than others.

They simply moved from PDP to APC.

Is Port Harcourt the only place in the South South?
Guess you have nothing to say. So the reason of not having their operational base in Lagos is not enough reason?
What reason can be more than you having your operational base in another location while your headquarter is in a faraway land that has no iota of how crude is made?
You are asking why for-profit, privately owned businesses with shareholders have not moved away from the centre of finance, insurance and legal services in a country with appalling infrastructure and terrible security apparatus.

The South South is the oil and gas hub of Nigeria, what are the multinational oil and gas companies doing in Lagos?

If we want to be transparent in this country then it needs to cut accross every aspect of our country Nigeria.
You have to give them a valid reason to move, you cannot bully private enterprises into moving location, especially not to a place like Port Harcourt.

You needed to travel to the UK, US, Germany or even to China to understand that federal government institutions and parastatals are distributed nationwide.

What costs are you saving by concentrating every Nigerian government ministry and parastatal in one place in this age of advanced information technology?
The UK is not a federal republic.

And Nigeria does not have the technological or telecommunications infrastructure of those nations. So your argument is doubly moot.

Moreso, you don't just move offices to a place for the sake of it. Especially during a time when you need to decrease expenditure. The reasoning given for this move is clearly stated and yet here you have Nigerians arguing against it with no valid reason. This is the problem with Nigeria.

If you were running a business would you open offices all over the place for no reason and decreasing income?

kikero:
That's not necessarily true. Many roads in Nigeria were built after 1960's, and many were infact upgraded in the 1970's and 80's...

1.The Kaduna-Abuja road was built long after independence,

2.Niger Bridge 1 was built after 1960.

3.A lot of highway modernization was done in the 1970's and 80's (Lagos-Ibadan, Enugu-PH, and Kaduna -Kano were dualized around that time).

4.Most of the roads built by the Birtish were built for getting raw materials to the ports for export. Same for railways. If you were not important to the British, no roads for you.

The problem is that Nigeria hasn't had the money to keep the roads well maintained....largely because 1) we dismantled toll gates, and by extension removed a vital bit of funding for road construction 2) we run a resource dependent economy that isn't raising enough cash for our needs...and even before the looting commences.
The first person to speak sense in this thread.

Too many people listen to their ignorant grandparents instead of looking at facts and data.

The roads you see where built before 1960 and were maintained before 1960 There was a framework for the development of Nigeria pre-1960, then greedy Awolowo/Azikiwe/Balewa claimed Nigerians wanted independence. They sought for independence for their selfish agendas, to provide for themselves and their progenies.

To this day the current Political thieves are still miss-managing the roads built by the British.

I am not going to lie, if the British come back and want to take back control of thos country, I will support it because the clowns in power have dragged Nigeria into the medieval ages. Nigeria in 2020 is worse than Nigeria in 1960.
Nigeria in 2020 is not worse than in 1960.

Things have been mismanaged but the British hardly built anything, their agenda was to loot and then hoard the wealth in northern Europe. Sadly, Africans are a stupid lot who have continued the agenda with a few brief moments of progress.

There are more schools, more roads and more industry than back then. Remember that 1960 is before indigenization of many large businesses.

If Nigerians could put their petty tribalism to one side on important matters life for the average Nigerian would be much better.

Abuja has the best roads because 75% of Nigeria wealth was spent just on Abuja, while neglecting other cities.

Lagos in a way also comes second because it benefited immensely from Nigeria's wealth before Abuja became capital
You must not have been in Lagos recently.

Most of the roads are a disgrace. Especially on the mainland.
