sandraokosun: edo is one and libral. Evidence it voted for pdp president and apc governor, house of assembly. The only reason why edo and the SS concur to an extent with igbo is on gej, but to loose EDO OR SS lands to igbo. The SS resist that, when the real war comes. Ths is just mere noise of biafra attempting to secced SS LAND when you talk about Edo liberalism and diversity and then you say Edo dont want Biafra, you contradict yourself. I am Edo and I dont want Biafra but trust me when I say i know Esans who prefer to align with Igbos and biafra than yorubas. Edo is so diverse that within the same LGA you could have yoruba speaking and igbo speaking indigenes. |

blazetitov: “The Ooni of Ife, by historical facts, is a son of the Oba of Benin, so they are not in the same class".
How can the guy from benin be contradicting himself by saying the Ooni of Ife was a son of the Oba of Benin and at the same time saying that the Oba of Benin stool has no relationship with the Yoruba race. I don't get it. you know this are historical accounts formed merged with some folklore so dont take them seriously. however the statement isn't self contradictory. The stool having no relationship means the stool and the Oba of benin never came from yoruba land. That a Benin prince setup the stool in Ife doesnt mean vice versa. note that the yoruba account says that the binis banished their prince and heir apparent (Ogiso dynasty) and needed a king and asked the ife king to give them his son who became Oba Eweka 1. The benin account is that the prince they banished "Omo-odua" founded Ife and sent his grandson back to benin. |

Abbycite: That is d kind of stupid protests that derailed every tangible policies of past governments. I dont know how dis pple use their brain, but am sure it is not used optimally. When GEJ attempt subsidy removal, these so-called labour leaders in collaboration with some political dickheads, organize d largest protest ever witnessed in d country. Fastforward to December 2015, we paid dearly for it by purchasing fuel for as high as 500 naira per litre.
If I spent an average of 500 naira per night to power my generator without protesting to anybody, why should I protest a fee increase of 10 naira which acumulate to a sum of 300 naira in a month for 'NEPA'. do you use 1 kwh per per day? most people use an average of 20kwh which translates to 6000 naira per month. to put this in context, EKEDC charges me 31 naira per kwh now and is to increase to 41 naira per kwh with the new tarriff. Luckly my estate got an IPP (using gen, modular gas and maybe EKEDC) that offers 24 hrs power at 45 naira per kwh. some 24 hrs generator estates in lekki charge 60 naira per kwh. With the size of a disco, it is normal to expect them to charge slightly less. note that EKEDC, even with my R2 line is not providing more than 12 hrs daily. should i then celebrate EKEDC for giving me 12 hrs power a day at 41 naira per kwh when small IPPs can give me 24 hrs at almost same price. if making me get 24 hrs power means I pay almost as much for generator supplied power then I wonder what the whole fuss is about. |
Politics › Re: Boko Haram Controls Half Of Borno, Says Senator Garbai by monex(m): 7:38am On Feb 08, 2016 |
4Play: That's a complete lie. There has been a virtual stalemate since March but Boko Haram has maintained control over a large swathe of Borno during that time. That is why they are often able to move in large numbers over great distances and mount attacks largely unperturbed.
Boko Haram illustrates the complete moral and intellectual bankruptcy of the Nigerian political class. Had GEJ tackled this menace earlier, it would not have gained such control. Of course, it didn't help that the likes of Buhari sought to gain political capital in the early days by claiming an attack on Boko Haram is tantamount to an attack on the North. Nigeria is a country run by idiotic traitors. Very true and just so you know 4Play. The objectivity in your political section posts is something i admire. |
Politics › Re: Boko Haram Controls Half Of Borno, Says Senator Garbai by monex(m): 7:27am On Feb 08, 2016 |
4Play: Nigerians are downright evil. People are being slaughtered but many remain in denial mode because they want to save face for politicians who don't give a crap about your existence.
This is the exact same denial campaign PDP defenders mounted during the GEJ era whilst people were being slaughtered. Is there no ounce of decency or humanity left in you lot? exactly. PDP tried to downplay then. APC doing same now. APC needs to realise that most neutrals did not want GEJ back albeit were still skpetical about PMB. There is no chance that GEJ can come back (or ever defeat PMB) in future as most Nigerians do not want him. APC do not need to compare themselves with the previous Govt or be campaigning while in Power. If APC dont get their acts right, a new candidate/party will spring up and give them a run for their money. |

Politics › Re: Maritime University Cancellation: Another Own Goal By A Niger Deltan by monex(m): 7:09am On Jan 28, 2016 |
SkyBlue1: The focus of any issues with this should be purely from the logic of arguments against proceeding with it, and not uneccesary sectional sentimentalism that has gotten us nowhere after over 50 years. Amaechi was hired to be Minister of Transportation for Nigeria and not for the Niger Delta, there is a Ministry of Niger Delta and a Ministry of Education if you feel so passionate about it. To add to that, being a Minister is not even an elected position so he has no constituency that can demand whatever they like, he is answerable to Nigeria as an entity.
With the current economic climate I don't understand what the ministry of transport should be doing building universities, issue has never been about number of universities we have (specialist or non specialist) but about the quality. If we can focus on improving the one we have to world class standard with the limited resources we have now then that makes sense. Look at the top 1000 universities in the world and tell me how many Nigerian ones make the grade. But the title of the thread already tells you where this is going - "our brother our brother our oil our suffering". it is not just another university. it is (going to be) the only maritime university. The problem is his reasons for the cancellation not the cancellation. The reasons are not sound enough. |

The truth is this is not even a victory for Judiciary cos if there was one election that should be cancelled and rerun, it was this. The election was marred by violence and widespread irregularities and I am surprised the Supreme court upheld the election. I compare Taraba judgement with this and I laugh. asEdeyHOT: Is Buhari responsible for all these?
GEJ had the opportunity to save for the rainy day but he left the reserves worse than he met it despite the fact that he was in charge when oil prices reached an all time high.
Diversification of the economy has been on the agenda of every government since 1960 but has any implemented it? No
Now things have reached a crescendo where oil is now virtually worthless and everybody is blaming Buhari
I would even surmise that diversification to other extractive sectors is just folly. Nigeria should not depend on Solid Minerals, China has excess stock of steel- they may start throwing some away soon. It is that bad.
What we need is a Knowledge economy where we innovate and manufature things. I have a lot of Saudi colleagues and despite the fact that their leaders are cocaine sniffing, closet homosexua.ls, they have invested billions of dollars to improve their competitiveness. A lot of them are studying for PostGraduate degrees in STEM courses and they have built innovative hubs all over the country.
Nigeria needs to totally change its orientation and blueprint.

He has not taken a position on whether PMB or the minister were insensitive but what he is saying is that you should attribute the "falsehood" of what was reported about the minister to "BBOG"/Aisha Yesufu rather than attributing the false hood to wailers/media etc. The deception is from either the Minister herself or the BBOG group. the deception is not from the "certain" tribe or "wailers". |
