Islam for Muslims / Re: The Jos Crisis And The Muslim's Position by mrmayor(m): 12:02pm On Mar 11, 2010
I try to avoid Islam and Muslims because you can't have a decent conversion about their faith, believes, pratices lack of faith without resulting to threats. I can't believe all muslims here are making excuses for the genocide of over 500 people! How many times have muslims killed in northern Nigeria. Cartoon, Miss World mass murders were all Repriasals for Insults to muhammed and koran!. angry angry

What exactly is wrong with Islam? angry angry. Why are you so violent? angry. after every bomb, mass murder, honour killing, genocide, Sudan, Darfur, Western Sahara you justify it by claiming the victims caused it, na wetin angry angry.

Must you kill? angry angry na wetin?

@ Poster,

I'm glad you are talking about your status, I feel like crying reading your post. Hiv/Aids seems like illness of Love-Peddlers and reckless people until it happens to someone close to you. Its sad that churches ( no insult intended) have stigmatized HIV so much sufferers feel comdemmed when they get + result.I lost a cousin last month from complications from HIV. He found his status but didn't disclose to anyone. He however spent lot time and money taking TradoMed concotion which didn't help atall, his church didn't heal him either, his CD4 count went down and he didn't recover from it.
Religion / Re: The Pastor And His Son by mrmayor(m): 4:41pm On Mar 10, 2010
When I opened the door, I saw a child handing me a gospel tract, telling me the good news of the bible. I got to know that Jesus loves me, today I'm saved and two days later an angel or was it holy spirit told me to leave my fortune to the 11 year old boy who set me on the way to heaven. Hear goes, I'm leaving my $4m to this lovely young man. Praise, praise p-r-a-i-s-e, p---r--a--i--s--e-- the lord, Halleluya.

The congregation when shocked to their marrow, the pastor couldn't believe what he was seeing, $4m just for giving out tracts! God has a sense of humour afteral. The pastor's son walked up the alter, embraced the old lady and quitely pocketed his $4m cheque. As the young man grew, he was sure that holy business was his calling, if he can get $4m from tracts, imagine how much he can get from a big congragation with branches all over the world,tv ministry the internet, corrupt officials?

But first he has to get the right demographic, the people or customers must be eternal optimist, gullible, easy to brain wash just by telling them how successful they can be from sowing seeds, tithes and offerings. One day, he had a dream where an angel told that which he is looking for in SOKOTO dey inside SHOKOTO.

THe angel told him to go back home, young man you have the customers you need in your own country.

Politics / Re: Military Coup In Nigeria [[Attempted Rumor]] by mrmayor(m): 4:20pm On Feb 26, 2010
24 FEBRUARY COUP REHEARSALS: SACK THE SERVICE CHIEFS NOW.

“The powers of the President as the Commissioner-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federation shall include power to determine the operational use of the armed forces of the Federation” Section 218(1) 1999 Constitution.

It is no longer news that Alhaji Umaru Yaradua has been smuggled into Nigeria in the middle of the night like some contraband goods. A lot has also been said on the unceremonious arrival of his entourage without the knowledge of the Acting President and Commander in Chief of the armed forces of Nigeria, Jonathan Goodluck.

However, some Nigerians have missed the crux of the matter in this perfidious soap opera currently playing out in the country. Despite all the rumours about possible military coup in late January this year, the night of Febuary 24 was the day; the armed forces actually executed a flawless dress rehearsal for any future coup.

According to a Newspaper report, “Two army units, the 4th battalion and Guards brigade, were deployed to secure the road leading to the airport and escort the presidential convoy back to Aso Rock. 300 carefully selected officers were secretly deployed and conveyed in 25 vehicles for the operation. Even the weapons were released to them at night. The directive for this deployment was not issued by the Acting President who is also the present commander in chief of the armed forces of Nigeria. This caused a little pandemonium among the ruling class who wondered who deployed the men. The Acting President did not give orders for the deployment of the troops”.

This surprise move against the Acting President has also been confirmed by his aide, Oronto Douglas, who stated that the Acting President was not briefed about Yaradua’s nocturnal arrival.

A necessary question that follows then is “if the president did not authorise the operation, who did?  What would have happened if these nocturnal soldiers changed their mind from rallying behind an unconscious Yaradua and decided to take power for themselves? Would that have been the end of the fifteen year struggle by heroic Nigerians like the Kutis, Gani, Kaltho, Kudirat, Ubani, Anyanwu and others, to rescue Nigeria from the jackboot of military dictatorship?

The foregoing should worry every Nigerian, because it boldly exemplifies an insubordinate and partisan military that lack respect to our democratic ethos and institutions. The constitution subjected the armed forces to the command of the president, who has the final say on their operational use, as could be read from Section 218. The supremacy of the presidential command is further buttressed in Paragraph1, part 1 of the third Schedule of the 1999 constitution, which created the national defence council chaired by the President, other members of the council includes the Vice president, Minister of defence, chief of defence staff, chief of army staff, chief of naval staff and the chief of air staff. The constitution made it clear that the council had only advisory powers to the president in matters relating to the defence of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Nigeria.

More so, Section 8 of the Armed Forces Act in consonance with the constitution equally vests solely on the president power to determine the operational use of the armed forces.

It is clear from this provisions that the acts of the armed forces on 24 February amounted to a lethal disrespect to the constitution. Since the volatile nature of the armed forces may not permit immediate investigation into what actually happened on 24 of February, the Acting President will do our democracy a favour by ordering their compulsory retirement as a first step in returning public confidence in the political neutrality of our armed forces.

I'm breaking my self imposed exile from Politicas Section of Nairaland, to save myself the embarrassment of a ban just because I hold a different view from Moderators and Almighty Seun, but this is my candid opinion, my 2 kobo.

Its time Nigerians ( Nairalanders) start facing reality, yes coups maybe unfashionable but do you really think that the market woman would lock up her shop and go naked, the unemployed graduates call on holy ghost fire to come down  because some khaki boys kicked PDP out of office? Do you think that the man who spends days waithing at fuel stations for diesel and kerozine would protest? I don't think so! I spending a lot more time in Port Harcourt, I know for sure that there is so much apathy ( Anger, Hate) towards PDP, Yar Adua, Amaechi and politicians in general.

I say this with all sincerity, that there would celebration on the streets of Port Harcourt if PDP (Yar Adua + Jonathan+ Amaechi) are kicked out, its easy to stay in London, New York or Paris and declare that Nigerians would not welcome a Coup. Yar Adua, PDP and coups were up for discussion on Wednesday night after Chelsea vs Inter, believe if you want to but most "Pitakwa" residents would not march protesting Khaki boys.

Divorce or any breakdown in family relationships are painful periods in anyone's life but the issue here is about Holy people like Born again folks who would lampoon, curse and rain down holy ghost fire anyone who does not belong to their faith and going through divorce. They would say its your fault that you are divorced because you don't pray, fast, tithe, sow seeds enough to have a happy home, your story would be part of sermon on sundays.

 Healer, Heal Thyself

Benny Hinn is no stranger to mishap and sickness, yet he preaches that those who truly have "faith" will have no need of money and will be without sickness.  Since Hinn boasts of having a superior "anointing" and even claimed to be "a little messiah" and "a little god", why is it that he cannot heal himself or his family?

  Two cases in point.

The (airplane) accident occurred in Avon Park, Fla. (south of Orlando) on (Thursday morning) May 26, 1983, at approximately 12:35 a.m. Hinn, along with his wife, Suzanne, a pilot and co-pilot, and two other passengers were returning to Orlando from a religious service held Wednesday evening in Naples.

Approximately 20 minutes from Orlando, the aircraft experienced power loss due to "fuel starvation." ( Hinn Did Pray Like Adeboye) The pilot turned the plane around and attempted to land at the nearest available airport, Avon Park Municipal Airport. Due to the loss of power the aircraft hit several trees during its landing approach and crashed into a field about 200-300 yards short of the runway. The plane had flipped over from impact, lying on its topside.

The Orlando Sentinel newspaper reported all six occupants were injured and admitted to the hospital.  Five remained in the hospital for treatments. The Avon Park News Sun reported the following information on Hill:

"Hinnl was the most seriously injured person in the crash, having to be transported to Florida Hospital in Orlando for plastic surgery. ..( No wonder Hinn be Fine Bros). Reports have it that Hill suffered serious injuries to the head in the accident.  He was never admitted to Walker Memorial Hospital as were the other passengers, as he was transferred almost immediately. ,  The Hinns were transferred from Walker Memorial to Florida Hospital so they could be closer to their homes."

The Avon Park paper also reported Hinn "said he was in a state of shock" and that he said "It will be the last time I will ever fly in one of these (single engine airplane) again ( I no blame my guy jare)." Hinn did not report any miracles at the scene, neither did the newspapers, sheriff, other victims or witnesses to the crash.  The Florida Hospital in Orlando confirmed the admission and stay of both Hinn and his wife, Suzanne.  Their records show both were admitted on May 26, 1983, with Benny released on May 28 and Suzanne on May 29. (SOURCE: The Confusing World Of Benny Hinn, Fisher & Goedelman, pg. 60, emphasis ours)

Another fact to take into account is that Suzanne Hinn has been reported to have been suffering from mental problems for a number of years and has been on medications. ( Sista Divorce the Baga, take half of everything,Can you Imagine no healing from my hussy, even with 30 years of giving him p*unani I have this on authority from some private sources.  You can also see evidence of this from her behavior captured on videos, especially the now infamous "Holy Ghost enema" rant.  She was also arrested for shoplifting in South Africa.

“Prosecutor Brandon Lawrence told the Cape Times that although he believed he had a strong case against Penny Hinn, he had dropped the serious charges because the court roll was full. . . The Benny Hinn Ministries in Florida, US, yesterday at first declined to comment on the matter, preferring instead to answer questions in writing. However, when pressed further a woman at the ministry… said pastor Hinn was married to Suzanne. This is the name Hinn says she uses in the US. He [the prosecutor] had earlier considered sending her for psychiatric evaluation. Hinn, who describes herself as a religious person, was arrested at Edgars Store in Adderley Street on December 4 and released on R1,000 bail for allegedly stealing two sets of ladies pajamas.” (sic) (Source: The Cape Times, Cape Town South Africa. Article from Court Reporter, Motshidisi Mokwena)

At the end of (the Godstuff) clip she is shouting and making gestures like a charging bull, charging across the platform back and forth and then sliding to a stop on her belly across the floor. She remained there apparently "slain in the spirit" for several minutes as Hinn's Assistant Pastor explained to visitors of the Orlando Christian Center what this strange behavior was supposedly about. (Video Source: Comedy Central, The Daily Show: Godstuff,28.8K Clip, 56k Clip)

That she suffers from mental problems is without doubt.  Is she also suffering demonic episodes?  You have to wonder. In either case, no healing has come miraculously for the Hinns through Benny.  I thought Hinn was the "man of faith"!

Hinn also prophesied in a crusade in Hawaii in 1997 that the Lord told him he would live to be 96 years old.  Only time will tell, but judging from the untimely deaths of most faith healers it is highly doubtful he will last that long.  If Hinn cannot heal himself and his wife, what makes him expect he can live long enough to heal anyone else?

Still laffing tongues grin grin grin grin grin grin

Religion / Moses, Exodus And Genetics by mrmayor(m): 9:03pm On May 27, 2009
Hello,

I'm not here to disparage or insult any member’s faith or religion, I believe we all have a right to our opinions. There are genuine questions to people of faith that need answers and for me this is one of them. Its about Moses and the Exodus.

How many people were in Jacobs’s family when they arrived Egypt?

Genesis 46:27
All the souls of the house of Jacob, which came into Egypt, were threescore and ten.

Exodus 1:5
And all the souls that came out of the loins of Jacob were seventy souls.

Acts 7:14
Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, threescore

How many left Egypt with Moses?

Ex.1.7
And the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly and multiplied, and waxed exceedingly mighty and the land was filled with them

12:37 And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children

38:26 A bekah for every man, that is, half a shekel, after the shekel of the sanctuary, for every one that went to be numbered, from twenty years old and upward, for six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty men.

In 430 years the population went from 70-75 people all from the same family sharing similar genetic markers to 600,000 men excluding women and children! How did that happen?

What about the Gene Pool; surely 75 people can’t provide stable gene pool for over 2 million people if you include women and children at the rate of A man + wife+ 3 children?

Even more confusing is there were just four generations from (Levi, Kohath, Amram, Moses) how did they arrived 430 years sojourn if it’s only four generations? Surely it’s not a 110 years per generation?

Hello Nairaland, Mrmayor is back,

Hi, I've been away for almost two years now and wow! nairaland is rocking! I just couldn't help replying to this post.

@ Angelgirl,

My dear, I understand how you feel, its really hard expressing any opinion that does not accept the existence of a God, Allah, Satan or Mammywater, you can imagine a Rivers man, born and bred in Ijawland who questions or says that Mammywater aka ''Owo"does not exist! It just unacceptable. I can't tell you how many debates I've had with family and friends about why an All Loving, All Caring, All Knowing God who allows evil in the world, and a contradictory Bible, a cousin actually calls me the Anti-Christ.

My views especially about the churches, Pastors or question of tithes hurts my family members and putting a lot of stress on my relationship with them, I keep most my opinions to myself, what really gets to me is the inability of Nigerians to accept responsibilty for thier actions instead of blaming it on the devil imagine ( Blasphemy Against The Devil), its really sad.
