Just apply. Your application doesn't depend on the success or otherwise of others. It's a pretty straightforward stuff with a little essay on why you deserve it.

Music/RadioRe: Matse Uwatse Of Nigeria Info -attitude Or Professionalism? by Mustay(m):
I don't go on hating people, it's a waste of emotions but I dunno, Matse is/was better at Wazobia than Nigeria Info - ever since she started 'speaking English', it seemed her 'roles' changed.

I wouldn't say journalists should not know a lot about a topic, especially to correct wrong information from a caller but I know they had something to do with BBC before they launched 99.3. Maybe they should listen to programs like WHYS - if you want to be the boss on your show, produce it and present it without accepting calls since you want to inform them.

If you want conversations with listeners, make sure you're a good moderator of the forum - (Citizen) Jones Usen of CBS would serve as an example in Lagos. Also, I've forgotten the name of the guy who anchors Classic Fm's business show on weekends - him, Halima or so on Smooth fm also suffice.

The deal is to moderate effectively. I listen to a lot of phone-in shows but you realize eventually, that no matter what you say, some people will try to force an opinion on others irrespective of being updated on information to correct their notions or just respecting others' entitlements to their opinions - that's the way 'gbogbo ero' shows are. To up the ante, a discussion with a panel of experts could be employed and just some few calls.
RomanceRe: Please, My Guy, Don't Marry A Jobless Woman by Mustay(m): 5:03pm On May 02, 2013
Oohrhii: The simple thing here is that you dont even understand what the Op is talking about..

He is talking about singles..not a married couple. Besides what he said is actually right and true.. A jobless girl is an absolute liability. They want everything but offer virtually nothing in return. they say sex well it takes two to tango..as both sides are both benefiting from it.

Some will still criticize the Op like you..but as said ..its basically meant for the wise ones.
Opinions are the entitlements of individuals but at the end he still relates it to marriage. Single people are not officially or religiously recognised hence the end point is still marriage.
Orikinla: It is really amazing the way most of our jobless single women who should focus more on being gainfully employed are desperately looking for husbands more than jobs.

A friend who is a lawyer and married to a jobless graduate told me that he would have been faring better as a bachelor. In fact, our discussion minutes ago inspired this topic.

The rational and wise thing to do is for the jobless single women to look for good jobs and become independent economically before looking for eligible bachelors to marry.
In the days of yore, parents taught both parties their duties. Essentially, the knowledge of one's reaponsibilities and duties reduces such problems. However, like someone posted, even being a housewife is a job, less talk of a working mother.

Preferences vary. Traditionally, in this part of the world, the man bears the responsibility for taking care of the family and it's needs hence there would be no need for liabilities bla bla bla.

I don't encourage lazy men, moreover my religion places emphasis on a man's responsibilities concerning the family. If you know why you are going into a marriage with a partner and each one knows each of his/her duties, there would be no need to see the other as one with whom marriage should be endured rather than enjoyed with.

Let each on of us focus on our parts and do them first before thinking of any lapses.

Jarus:
I attended all high-level meetings of the president where decisions were taken and he always allowed me to air my views. The only meetings I was passive in were the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meetings and what do they discuss in FEC except contracts? In fact, it got to a point I always sneaked out of FEC meetings to go and attend to more productive things in my office. Even at FEC, if there were issues on which I felt strongly, I would write a note and give the president.
Yes. He has proved analysts who call wednesday 'Cake Day', a pseudo name for 'Contract Wednesday' right. Imagine, he even said he attends to 'more productive things'. heheh

Lagbaja, Tamedu ati Lakashigbe are concepts in Yoruba. Like someone wrote, it ought to mean somebody, anybody, Mr. A - whatsoever you choose. However for Lagbaja, he has said until corruption, bad leadership et al are eradicated from this country, there's nothing for him to be happy about concerning the mask removal - now, that's a tall order but butresses the concept further.

Lastly, @naptu2's post shows that Lagbaja is more of a CHARACTER than an INDIVIDUAL - the same way different 'bonds' have been issued for $007 wink

Valid point but I do notice that except foe caller tunes, there are different ways 'ring ring' sounds on various networks.

Airtel has the classiest.

MTN sounds like a truck "phun phun"

Glo sounds like a long horn "phuuuuuuuuun"

Etisalat is the worst, sometimes if you don't put it on speaker, you may not even know it's ringing. wink

Foreign AffairsRe: Canada Foils 'major Terrorist Attack' by Mustay(m): 8:10am On Apr 23, 2013
Apparently, some people tend to satisfy their orgy to "blame 'em Muslims" - so much for prejudice and objectivity.

The quote from AlJazeera says:

Muslim community tipped off police about plans to launch a "terrorist attack" against a Canadian passenger train .

Canadian authorities say they have arrested and charged two men with an al Qaeda-linked plot to "carry out a terrorist attack" against a passenger train thanks to the help of the Muslim community.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police on Monday named the two accused as Chiheb
Esseghaier, 30 , and Raed Jaser, 35 , from the Montreal and Toronto areas respectively.

Muhammad Robert Heft , who runs an outreach organisation for Islamic converts, and Hussein Hamdani, a lawyer and longtime advocate in the Muslim community, said one
of the suspects is Tunisian and the other is from the United Arab Emirates .

Superintendent Doug Best said authorities were tipped off by members of the community of one of the suspects .
"It was sort of a thank you moment," Hamdani said .

"This tip, this lead , came from the Muslim community. But for the Muslim community
we would not be talking about an arrest today .

"This is evidence and proof that the Canadian Muslim community, rather than a
community that should be seen as suspect , is in fact partners for peace and
here is the proof of it."
A criminal is a criminal - what however is propagandaism is when a tribe or religion is intentionally attached to appear as the cause of the crime. Muslims reporting muslims? Just like death, crime 'respects' no belief.

72 virgins etc shows the level of some's intelligence. If the Canadaians were bigots, they would surely not have made such progress.

I don't tend to post on religious stuff here on NL and neither am I ready for a debate but you do know when you have got intellectual discussions and rascally tantrums.

"Verily, Allah knows those who believe, and verily, He knows the hypocrites [i.e. Allah will test the people with good and hard days to

putting them to test)].

And verily, they shall bear their own loads, and other loads besides their own, and verily, they shall be questioned on the Day of Resurrection about that which they used to fabricate."

Whatever the case is, we do need to evaluate the use of mental institutions in the country. There's this stigma like it's only for mad people. Inference could be linked to his unemployment issue but opening up and being counselled ccould have helped a lot!

Similarly, the Federal Government's policy of posting corps members to places not parallel to their career line is condemnable.

Communication eases quite a lot when those we intend to get the message get it firsthand.

Men get ego ish. The funny part about such cases is if maybe you quit, the lesson of valuing what you had would just be dawning on him. Unfortunately, he is using the escapism method to pour his frustrations on you - whatever you do, just be extra patient.

Ultimately, having a roundtable will be the best.

FamilyRe: My 21yr Old Sister Is Sleeping With Her Friend's Husband(her Lecturer) by Mustay(m):
There's nothing worse than betrayal of trust from those who you least expected it from.

Since your friend has resolved her own ish with the husband, it's left to you to treat yours - obviously, the Mr. Lecturer's threat has ended. The memory can be erased a bit with the removal of such irresponsible pictures on a married man's phone. This is where your sister can start learning from - who knows if he posted such pics online or someone else collected it/them and saved it for the 'greenmail' day?

Methinks your background and family value (which I have without due dilligence, assumed from your post) was what made your sister deny at first until you provided evidence.

I feel as the older one, sit your sister down and counsel her well. My guesstimate was that her naivety made her succumb to the lecturer's threat - this is what ignorant ones who don't know the proper channels of resolving issues face at schools. If you're doing the right thing, and you know it is right, you won't fall into the wrong holes!

Guide your sister in school and other challenges she will face in life - I feel if she had told you or a responsible 'mama lecturer' in school about this earlier, this would have been averted. When they say information is power, that power is very wide and dynamic.

Seriously, some people go to schools, schools don't go through them. Some of us were told experiences before such bad experiences came our way. Age doesn't necessarily do with maturity but reading and listening to others' can make you wiser.

Monitor your sister, counsel her and be her friend.
