Third, Lauretta Onochie is very qualified for that position as a lawyer. Fourth, she is not partisan as defined by the law they quoted because she is neither an elected official or someone who has contested an election on the platform of any political party. ASUU is beginning to sound lame. How would you be fighting for what your core staff will not even enjoy except the Senior Lecturers, Readers and Professors who in most cases are in the twilight stage of their career? What is it about IPPIS that you cannot join and expose the non-availability of lecturers so that your "new products" can be employed and trained? Why can't ASUU embark on strike because of increase in salary of their staff? Is it not appalling to ASUU to see most of their staff indulge in unethical acts just to survive? Why are these men now sounding so irritating? |

Career › Re: Secondary School Teaching Vs Lecturing: Which Of These Two Jobs Should I Choose? by na2016: 3:55pm On Oct 07, 2020 |
iaamxavier: I would advice you go for the lecturing job
There's high chances of salary increment in universities Also if you know your onions there's also high chances of you becoming a senior lecturer within time
Also you have more time as a lecturer to start up a business to support your self and family
You get to meet a lot of influential people since its a private university If you behave like the "Nigerian Lecturer" You'll make it big time if you know what I mean
Secondary school job isn't secured at all as you can easily be replaced at any slightest issue, But its all about fulfillment. If you feel fulfilled there you can as well stay back So you are telling him to be collecting egunje aka sorting? chai |

Emir8: Hello Nairalander, I really need advice concerning making a choice between the two jobs before me. My family members are divided over which job I should choose.
Should I go and become Mr. Lecturer and sacrifice my secondary school benefits? I will not tell you which job to pick but if you read through my message, you will see the answer. You can be sacked from a private University at anytime. I can also tell you the reason people are establishing private universities here and there; it is because the money paid lecturers even with a PhD is not big and when a student pays over a million/year, the management can easily make profit. Be critical in your decision, where do you intend to be in the next 5 years? Still teaching at a private school and doing private lessons? Lastly, it is only your parents that will stand by you when things go south so think well and make the decision. Best of luck |

You folks have to know that government job is to provide social infrastructure like roads, stadium, schools, libraries etc, those are not profit making ventures but provide a bedrock for better society, This is my problem with these paid sycophants. Someone will ask them a simple question and all they will do is abuse the person. It goes to show how unintelligent you are. The guy asked what does Eket need a 17000 capacity stadium for when you have very bad roads in Eket. When you have dilapidated and over crowed schools all over the state? You couldn't give good answers but resorted to attack! It is really a pity!!! |

Now, these are my concerns. What are the chances of getting a lecturing job (after I might have gotten my PhD) considering the 2.2 Bsc result? Or it doesn't matter once there are higher qualifications?
Is it worthwhile to sit for JAMB again and start all afresh? I'm still in my mid twenties and the drive is high. I know I can do it, but is it necessary / worth it? bro, Nigeria is so spoilt, you wil still get into the system. if when we were not so corrupt, I'd have said go and look for another job becuase you are not qualified but what do I know, we have so many with same result lecturing and causing so much problem in the system. |

People ain't talking because he pays salary since the state is predominantly a civil service state. He has many sycophants who write everywhere on SM for him; that's why a writeup which mention "readiness" not "has started" is celebrated in the state. In my honest opinion, the last administration performed better than him. |

There are also possiblities that this lady is chasing clout, but then... will a lady be bold enough to chase clout with something like this, having known that she'll bear the consequences if proven wrong?
In my opinion, this shouldn't be overlooked, It should be looked into to know the truth. I just dont know why people would think like you did?
