Hypocrites! As if none of you go clubbing. What is there? |
Jabioro:Notice the container is not refrigerated or covered with any kind of insulation. How fresh do you think that chicken is after being in hot sun during the journey from Lagos? You want to feed that to people? Or fed that to animals that people will eat? Then later we complain of short life expectancy or sudden death? As for me, I'm not knowingly going to eat or buy frozen chicken again, as I have seen some of the worst conditions for transporting and holding them. To those quoting tribalism: the Igbo importer knew they were committing a crime and sabotaging our local economy and local jobs for personal gain. Next time they can spend their efforts and money on legal means to make profits. |
Laws are not retroactive. Meaning he can't be prosecuted or convicted under a new law for crimes commited before said law took effect. It's in our Constitution, though I don't know the Lagos state constitution or if it can override national statutes in a case like this. |
smartty68:This would be a huge milestone, if our representatives realize that they can be recalled at any time. This also empowers us to know our rights, abilities, and responsibilities. I hope it succeeds because they will now realize they can't just sit tight and act the fool for 4 years. |
All these questions... where are you booking? No be Naija we dey? "Regular light", "unlimited wifi"? When to even get two towels for me and my guest na wahala, and sometimes they have to fetch water in buckets for us because no light to pump from borehole. |
CROWNWEALTH019:You're welcome to be angry and ask for his resignation (I do too, and agree wholeheartedly with your stance) but please refrain from pouring so much abuse on our President. He is our President, and abusing the person is an abuse on our Nation, and on us. |
Kobicove:You people will not let her live this one down eh? ![]() |
DollarAngel:So that we'll have two or three zoos where the same stealing still happens? No zone is immune from kleptomaniac leaders my guy |
Ol boy.. I do these 8 steps oh... to avoid stories that touch... Especially since one of the passenger doors needs several "beep" presses to lock fully |
I don't think diplomatic immunity means you can enter any part of the country. He is free to insist on not being checked... he just won't be allowed in. For instance, he cannot just enter my house without permission, nor enter private business nor government offices uninvited, so he cannot just enter a private property (in this case Abuja Market Authority Management), without permission, diplomat or not. From what I can tell: "Diplomatic immunity is a form of legal immunity that ensures diplomats are given safe passage and are considered not susceptible to lawsuit or prosecution under the host country's laws, although they can still be expelled." - wikipedia. Safe passage does not equate to unlimited or unrestricted passage. |
You forgot the Nigerian people. We 13. vote along every line except actual merit and fitness for the job 14. do not honour hard work, but hail the chief whose source of wealth is questionable 15. want to chop at all costs... unwilling to do good work, but always hustling... who cares about quality? 16. insist on supporting foreign economies: buying their goods, travelling and investing in foreign lands, educating abroad. 17. don't want to pay other Nigerians fair price, but will overpay for Oyinbo mind for the same work. 18. won't pay tax, but insist on excellent infrastructure 19. won't dispose of trash properly, then complain about floods 20. already planning to bypass electricity meters 21. won't invest in our communities, but have no problem being the #1 champagne consumer of the world |
Papiikush:This is not "oyinbo man" mentality: 1. the guy has diplomatic plates... many more Nigerians would suffer if China decided to "teach us a lesson" for assaulting a diplomat (we're the junior partner, and this is a reality, not oyinbo mentality). 2. Nigerians with connections also have this same boastful attitude (from Oga's wife, to police colonel, to chairman of some bank), and will have people show up to defend them. |
But how wicked can people be? Who would imagine that somebody you employed for 5 years will be the one to hand you over to the lions? Somebody you were good to. Somebody who was able to provide for his family because of your hard work and entrepreneurship? This is the same person that would say "in fact, kill him"? This is not just a random tout off the street, this is a trusted employee... what is wrong with people? |
Oga, please don't try to foment trouble by calling Fulani. The kidnap was actually his own undoing... probably spent the money collected for employment on car, booze, and women abi? And I'm sure they must have warned him severally before taking action. But some people sef... how much is government going to pay annually, for you to go and gather 200k in order to secure employment? |
Thank your uncle, then ask him to take that money and invest in you and a business, in exchange for 20-30% equity. The money to travel to Canada, feeding, healthcare, transport, weekend flexing, and paying for a 2-year degree is not trivial and can get you doing something serious here in Naija. I'm not saying you should not pursue higher degree for the sake of it, but if the idea is to increase your chances of employment in Nigeria, I'd say go the self-employed route and work hard. How many millionaires went to NYSC or have master's degrees? |
iluvpomo:Painfully true... |
I currently stay in a town in Delta state that has not seen light for 3 years. Not village oh... town. In oil-rich Delta, the place where ex-convicts are elected governors. But in Asaba I enjoy no light for 21 hours a day. Especially at night when heat is stiflling and mosquitoes are ravenous. |
PaperLace:Very good points. I never really saw it that way before, but it seems tyranny naturally comes to the breadwinner. |
Opistorincos:Her: "yes this is the woman I want you to kidnap for me... Study the picture well..." Or how about this one: Her: "Babalawo, which one should I bring for money ritual? You like this one abi? Ehen ok" Or she can copy and paste the picture to make a fake profile to defraud people. Abeg, I dey fear my people... |
NwaAmaikpe:What century are you living in? I don't agree with male-bashing (or militant feminism) but this comment on women echoes the reasons why women could not vote, go to school, own property, and many other ills we have thankfully left behind |
Chaii... a guy 52 can rock ladies from 25-50... ![]() Notin do you. |
One minute we're hurrying around our business, and the next we could be dead. How sad, especially as this could have been avoided. May she rest in eternal peace, and condolences to her family. |
If this was a south-south guy, I imagine ten years this guy will become a governor in Nigeria... my people I dey hail oh! ![]() |
DanseMacabre:I may be jumping the gun, but it looks like an attack to me: somebody turned off the water supply to sprinkler system or broke it, disabled the smoke alarms (there are many on each floor), then blocked the fire escape staircase, then started a fire. It might have taken weeks to execute, and if so, UK is going to be in trouble. Any of these should have been detected during recladding, as inspectors would have come through to check. There are too many things that failed for it to be entirely coincidental or human error, but who knows? |
This is what the Presidency should have done since day 1. By presidency, I mean either Buhari or Osinbajo should have delivered this firm warning to security agents and hold talks with leaders - elders and leaders of all sides. Agitators and noisemakers also should be arrested for threatening the nation's integrity, tried by jury and sentenced if convicted. Frankly, I'm of the opinion that there is One Nigeria, and any talk otherwise is tantamount to threatening the nation's integrity under the Constitution. Since they undertook the oaths of office which binds them to defend the Constitution, no executive - by any law - is able to condone or even convene any kind of breakup discussion. Doing so invites impeachment. This is purely a legislative issue, and since our representatives have not mooted it, the current agitation is illegal. I did not say it's wrong or right, just not lawful. Yes, you can recall senators and other representatives for any reason, but note the Constitution does not have a framework for dissolution of the sovereign state called Nigeria. For those claiming self-determination, and pointing to Sudan as a recent example of successful breakup (remember the bloodshed they went through). I also point to USA, the champion of self-determination, fighting a civil war to keep its Union together; the UK and its multiple wars that were fought to keep it a United Kingdom. In other words, despite cheap talk, online abuse, threats of violence, if anybody tries to secede, there will be war in Nigeria because its armed forces are duty bound to protect its integrity. |
Hopeful20100:Sadly, the legacy this man will be remembered for is how divisive and regressive he was. Supervised two recessions in his times as leader. Even my Northern friends are grumbling that this man should not be retained in 2019. Of all the candidate the North could have fielded, his is a choice they, and we, regret. Even if we were to give him credit for slowing down Boko Haram and slowing down corruption, he hasn't really addressed the issues that cause these plagues: education and industrialization in the North, and diversification. |
BestOnlineDeals:Yes indeed. But chai... Lagos mosquitoes and heat is just too much. |
And some people will come and start kicking against the name, and the forced amalgamation... Let me ask you this: don't you think after 113 years, we should have learned to keep peace with each other? After 113 years, can we seriously still be blaming oyinbo for our troubles? Are we children? |
BestOnlineDeals:1. There's barely any ventilation because everybody builds without care of air flow. 2. Nobody wants to bring their hard earned money to fumigate the property. |
Never thought I'd see the day: a Chinese fake of a Chinese real phone. ![]() So the Chinese, whose products when I was a child, included plastic chairs and metal toy cars, have graduated to making phones and semiconductors. They went from everybody's laughing stock, to everybody's manufacturer in just 3 decades. Meanwhile in Nigeria, we celebrate pencil and pure water factories, in 2017. It is well.. Please don't tell me we manufacture... a country that cannot take iron ore and petroleum, and turn it into a car is not a manufacturer. |
Meanwhile the owners of the property are glad somebody contributed to property taxes this year. Mr. Thicke and flower maker can afford their mortgages this year thanks to this wedding. Not hating... not hating at all... Nigeria... making Brits ever more wealthy since 1700s. |
Hrm... people will start wondering how Ebola or other such diseases spread... You don't know which soakaway this rat has visited, which bat is fought, which cockroach it ate, or which bacteria is living inside it. OK oh |
