tell me another one please. |
Is it OK for the husband to hold property in his name? The answer you give would apply to the wife. It's quite simple really. |
iamJ:Sadly my guy, 10k is enough to have people arrested in this country. The only thing is if you have more money you can post bail and counter-arrest them. Police doesn't care about who is wrong or right. But the guy mumu now... why bother blackmailing? Too many fish in the sea... |
Well, those who are saying it's promoting sexual harassment should ban all those Hollywood movies where women are harassed without their consent. Acting is acting, and anybody who reads too much into a skit... well, please grow up. |
Cryomancer:I was going to say something similar. I wonder what will happen to those new planned communities around the Dangote refinery... people think it's going to be hot cake, but I'm cautious for the reasons you posted... Another example that I'm familiar with is the area around the River Niger in Asaba. Used to be high-brow up till the 90s. But in the past 20 years most of the new development has been in the areas around a core area surrounding GRA (close to the Benin-Asaba Expressway leading to the Bridge). Houses around the Niger are getting old, roads are not as well maintained, so in the space of 20-30 years, anybody who owns in that side has seen their investment go down. Which is a real paradox because in most countries, riverside is prime property. |
justtoodark:To be honest I also really like Osinbajo, so I will be torn if they were both up for election. |
justtoodark:That's that I was referring to in terms of his chances. I don't think anybody is "perfect"... but he appears to have what it would take to lead well in terms of business acumen, and responsibility towards state funds. I could be wrong and don't know too much, just surface. |
OruExpress:One example of governments that are involved in their local industries: USA gives tax breaks to people to buy electric cars (so companies like Tesla can grow). I think you can get a Tesla for practically half price due to government incentives. But I cannot understand how anyone on this thread can criticize Innoson. A single person built this from scratch. Whether you want to call it manufacturing, assembling, or abuse the styling, or that it's China-made... one cannot but appreciate the sheer size and symbolism of this enterprise. See how many people he's employing, technology he's transferring, and hope he's giving to people (who realize that with hard work, they too can achieve it). I'm extremely proud to see this, and I'm just confused as to why some other Nigerians don't take pride in this, but are quick to find fault. |
omenka:Peter Obi would be my first choice. What would be his chances? |
noblealuu:We're not a great country. We're just great consumers, and most countries around the world profit from the fact that we don't make shit, don't have the patience and willingness to make it, and keep choosing bad leaders who don't know about making shit. |
Why are people dragging Davido into this? People do NYSC because otherwise they would be ineligible for employment by government (required), or private sector (voluntarily enforced). If you plan for self-employment, are already are self-made, or have more assets than most people would acquire in a lifetime, why waste a year being unproductive in some far flung place? NYSC has really become a waste of time, talent, and resources. It has laudable goals, but I think it should be scrapped. |
Nice one... pursuit of happiness. I've been pondering this same question for some time now. So far as you can feed yourself, and have a place to sleep, why waste your life on a super competitive rat's race, where your only reward is to spend 4 hours in traffic daily, so you can buy fancy things that end up owning you? I also take it as a good sign that our tourism industry is growing. |
To my great surprise she said we won't until church wedding is done. I did not actually took her serious.OP, please fulfill her wishes. She doesn't feel fully married until all the rites and ceremonies, legally binding, church, and traditional. You agreed initially, though you both didn't hammer out the full details. You love her right? Complete all the ceremonies because they are important to her - and she can use it to shame her enemies. Why? For sake of your future peace of mind. You don't want this to be a source of argument in some future. Trust me... your future self will thank you. PS. Please don't combine words like "paid bride price" and "right to her body" in the same context again... it's debasing. |
It's quite amazing how Twitter has fundamentally changed how people and organizations converse. Good move, though I'm always of the opinion that people should not be so easily swayed by one source of "truth". Open your eyes and ears and get your information from multiple sources. Is there something so different about Twitter (and other social media) that make political ads so hard to discern? I mean, we have ads on TV, newspapers, posters, etc... what's different about this particular medium? Curious... |
brownbib:Not a defender of PMB... but what has he got to do with the situation? LAWMA has the mandate to clean up trash; Lagosians should know better than to throw waste and clog up drainage; state and local governments have powers devolved to them on matters of building codes, zoning, drainage, etc. Didn't we see one commissioner going around on drain cleaning exercise recently? There's only so much a federal government can do on a local basis. |
Very good move |
Dementia is a sad thing to watch, and all I can advise is for Uriel to be strong. To be brutally factual: her mom won't remember, so no need making memories. The child won't remember. Does anybody here remember anything from when they were 2 or 3? No point... if anything the child will be exposed to a grandmother who won't recognize them. So the only person who will "benefit", so to speak is Uriel, but I'm not sure hurrying to bring a child into this world - unless she is fully prepared - may not be the best solution. |
Old thread, but still useful to reply anyways, so let me add my two cents. For men, a relationship without physical (body) intimacy is not fulfilling; likewise a relationship without psychological (mind) intimacy is not fulfilling to women. Both are valuable, but generally men would be OK without mental commitment, and women would be OK without physical commitment, at least initially. I'm paraphrasing from maniac_high (don't ask me how I know him) who once wrote this gem about "diamonds and gold" that I've always appreciated: Men and women both appreciate things that are valuable. Diamonds (rocks) and gold are both very valuable things. In a relationship, diamonds= personality (ie arranging nice romantic dinners, walks on the moonlight, candlelight with soft music', a sense of connection), while gold='sex'.So in conclusion, my summary is that physical and psychological intimacy are both needed and complement each other, for that's what makes relationships strong. Denying the validity of either is not going to undo millions of years of evolution that require these two complementary aspects to a relationship: you can't make babies if you're not physically intimate, and you can't raise that baby to maturity unless you're mentally committed to each other* *of course in today's world, a woman can raise a child without the father, but in aeons past, she was setting herself up for disaster if she got pregnant without a committed mate to go and hunt that nutritious antelope or kill that dangerous tiger. |
iamadonis2:This is a tough one, but to be straight with you: You're only angry because you know. Suppose she was able to hide it from you? Many women do. Unless you're married to her, my brother, swallow that anger. I can't say she's right, nor can I say it's wrong to get help from an ex. |
So how come a person (Sowore) calling for peaceful protest is arrested and detained for almost 3 months now; another calling for referendum (Kanu) was detained for over a year before being python danced into virtual exile; but a person who is actively fighting FG, taking over territory and killing our citizens (Shekau) is still roaming the lands freely for nearly 10 years? Inquiring minds would like to know what the former general plans to do about it? Abi he'll just spend his 8 years tiptoeing around it? |
TOPCRUISE:And all those pussies fondly remember fvcking him for fun. It takes two consenting adults. May you never be falsely accused - and not have the means and support to defend yourself. |
That's what I'm talking about. Davido: talk and do. Girls will think twice before clout-chasing with his name again. ![]() |
1billion, divide by 100 million youths (18-40 of age). So they collected the equivalent of 1k each from each young Nigerian just to prepare the budget? |
Na wah. 1 billion just to say how you will spend money. They haven't even spent the real money yet. Is there a budget item for this expenditure? So what are we to say when police asks for 300 Naira for borrowing pen, or ministry people want 2k for printing CofO? |
Issa normal sturvs... those were the days... me and my best friend would be finding chance to press bobbi for one corner... memories. But let me not come and implicate myself abeg. ![]() |
olaolulazio:Smelling all the way to the bank. Fixed deposits smell good to me. And those without smelly parts, well, they are welcome to keep being broke. |
Yahoo boys need to be smart and just buy land and properties. Forget car, forget clubbing, forget fancy clothes. But man, this Christmas go lean sha... e done reach like 1000 boys arrested nationwide this year by my estimate: 27 here, 14 there... on a weekly basis. |
109 exits over the past 16-17 years. Nothing to do with Buhari per se. Of course if the exits accelerated during his time, we would have reason to point fingers. Some of those are a result of business mergers/acquisitions; some are delisted because they no longer met requirements (which doesn't mean they stopped doing business, just that they delisted); some want to go private; and of course some just ended. The article doesn't mention how many companies have come onboard in that time, but indications are the stock market is healthy. |
People are vexed because of a few individuals who pursue their lives in a way that makes them happy, while causing no harm to others? If it was a man being polyamorous, many would support that position with sound arguments about "tradition", "masculinity", and the "natural". But to be real, many women in the world - and indeed this country - do the same thing... just not openly, and most men don't know they are but one of several. Either way... she should carry on, as long as she can take care of her responsibilities. |
All Small Doctor needed to do is commit the guy's license to memory, then find and deal with him outside the public eye. ![]() No need to cause a scene |
Denikayan:I agree with you 100% - charity does begin at home after all. I realize this is advertisement, but a whole duplex... But this being Nigeria... some people in the villa would become jealous and cause harm if the man donated things at home. Alternatively, he could already be quietly donating at home, but we don't really know. |
People reacting... when actors kiss deeply in movies. The amount of misogynist comments I'm seeing is quite depressing. ![]() |
