PassingShot:From the entry on Wikipedia (which matches my memory): "A $1.53 billion contract was awarded in 2012 to the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation for construction of the Lagos–Ibadan segment (156 km) of the standard gauge railway by 2016. However, the project has also faced delays. A ground-breaking ceremony finally took place on 7 March 2017, and the railway was scheduled for completion in December 2018. Construction was delayed by heavy rains in Spring 2018,[10] and the Nigerian government had to deploy soldiers to protect the railway workers from hoodlums and armed robbers.[11] Construction was further delayed by the 2019 Nigerian general election, when CCECC evacuated its Chinese employees as a precaution.[12] The railway is now scheduled for completion in May 2020."Yes, I'll concede that ground-breaking ceremony happened during PMB, but to ignore all the work done before: planning, feasibility study, budgeting, awarding contract, is not giving due credit to all parties involved. But nonetheless, kudos to PMB for continuing where his predecessors left off. |
PassingShot:Remember, PMB himself said he's not starting any new projects... but will complete the ones already begun before him. You'll do well to keep in mind that the projects began before his tenure. It's a team effort across multiple administrations, and we can thank him for continuing and completing projects during his time of service. |
No Office of First Lady bah? Na wah oh... which one of Bubu's promise did he keep? |
Chai... see losses. Wetin traders go take do Christmas now? Just see all those burnt generators. And no insurance to talk of. And the landlords too have incurred damage on their own buildings. Such a tragedy ... RIP to those who lost their lives. |
Phew... let me not say what is on my mind, and keep on scrolling. |
Money that these ladies should be saving for rainy day. Later they will come and disturb me that the country is hard... if I hear ![]() |
Big boys don't sweat 100k. |
VillageHead:Any Naira entering into my bank account is good for me, so far it's legal. Doesn't matter if it's from endorsing cat fish. |
crackhouse:How many taxi drivers you know can advertise and pull in people that know Ini, watch her, and aspire to her lifestyle? People: "Ini Edo uses Mr. Taxi? Let me hail them too, so I can be among" You: "but some random taxi driver also uses Mr. Taxi na..." People: "And so?" |
See all our overseas children coming home and making bank. ![]() Good for her. Who UK police epp? A lifetime of mediocrity. Here she can be a STAR! Ini Edo just bagged Mr. Taxi... people are shouting "no work" up and down, but these are many new companies selling goods and services while smiling to the bank. People should be thinking of how to create a business, instead of crying and asking God to show underserved favor. |
Adekunle and Simi... lovely marriage between lovely people. Nothing but the best wishes for you and your baby!!! Bad-belle people, commot una eyes and leave Simi's pregnancy alone. |
realestniggah:Too true... instead of asking for iPhone, please start asking for visa to anywhere. |

Na wao... e be like say this holiday season go hard oh... No tomato, no rice, no jollof, no yahoo boys. |
So people have the energy to threaten somebody because of a girl they've never met, cannot bleep, and who actually has ZERO bleeps to give? Secondly... why am I suspecting this Teebillz? This will be the fourth girl he wants to "manage" (Tiwa being number 3). |
Lekki is at sea level... unless the government installs pumps, water will drain very slowly from street into ocean. |
You want government to spend more on infrastructure. Where would it get this "more" from? It has to come from taxes. Comparing tax revenues across the world: Nigeria: 6% Ghana: 21% SA: 27% US: 27% UK: 34% Japan: 35% Norway: 55% We only ask that the money is spent wisely on people, not stolen. |
Shebi people were nodding in agreement when IMF and World Bank were saying FG needs to diversify its revenue (away from just oil sales). Some of that includes increases in taxes to match developed worlds. All we're asking is better use of that tax revenue, like obtains in other parts, but Gov't can't spend what it doesn't have. Anyways in comparison, here's a short list of govt taxes around the world: Nigeria: 6% Ghana: 21% US: 27% UK: 34% Japan: 35% Norway: 55% Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_tax_revenue_to_GDP_ratio But instead of stimulating production with sound policies, cheap loans, grants and tax holidays, they are arbitrarily stifling businesses and closing borders. I hear bag of rice don reach 26k now, so let's continue to enjoy next level. When food prices increases, inflation increases for all products (expensive rice means more demand for other foods, which will raise their prices). Now transport will cost more, etc... |
Ronline:That's why I no dey do again. Let me stay by myself abeg. Money I will use to buy door for my house is what one person will wear for head for 2 months. |
tiredoflife:The increased price will encourage people to go into rice farming. It will take at least 6-7 months, but I think it's too late to start planting rice now. I hope we have enough harvest this season to make up for the shortfall. Of course, people can turn to other foods in the meantime: yam is there... cassava is there... maize and other grains are there. A country of citizens who don't want to suffer - even temporarily - for a greater good is very baffling to me. |
Taink you. It's also that same gene that makes us think we're smart when we skip lines, cheat the system, or get away with something. That gene that turns us into mumu and hail incompetency in leaders. It's that same gene that makes us wait for "Baba God to bless us with undeserved favor". I so hate this line. Please remove that gene so we can start working hard and progressing our country like the rest of humanity. |
Taking Care Of The Vagina Is Not A Small Business, If She Asks For Money, Pls Give Her' - Lady SaysWhat bothers me most is this "if she asks for money"... why aren't women being encouraged to make their own money? Then they can do whatever they like. Haba, we all had the same educational opportunities: half my classes in nursery, primary, secondary, university were girls. What are they doing with their own education? Guys need to go on strike and tell women to make their own money jare... I will work hard and somebody who has the same opportunities as me (but maybe refused to study and hustle like me) will come and be asking me for money. Because why? |
My biggest concern is: who pays the VAT on this gift of money and vehicle? Are we saying FIRS is not going to collect their tax from Mercy? But as for the car: the price is N21.3M for the base, but we know that by the time most luxury cars roll out with the options, fees - and maybe taxes - that price goes up significantly. I don't know that the extras and taxes are worth 3.7M, but there you are... But you know the biggest winner in all of this? Innoson. Their brand is the most talked about in Nigeria this week, and I'm sure some big boys and girls are at least considering it. This is a good thing. Assembly oh, manufacturing oh... think of: 1 - how much money you need to create a vehicle assembly/manufacturing complex. This is not Toyota or VW which have the power of shareholders and stock market to fund. This is from ONE person's pocket. A Nigerian. 2 - how many cars are being sold, and how much profit is being generated monthly by a single business. 3 - most huge manufacturers started out assembling, and moved up the value chain. Some even started as bicycle repair shops. In 10-20 years, I imagine Innoson will design and make more of the parts in their cars. 4 - some of his technicians will take their experience to start companies that service and make car parts. 5 - people complain it's expensive: they have a range of cars, from the Fox all the way up to G80. These are new cars, so don't expect tokunbo prices. 6 - they say he is a mere rebadger of Chinese models: fine. I would love to be the multi-billionaire with the resources to assemble hundreds of vehicles weekly. That's going too far; even if I had a plant that could assemble just one car a day, I would be happy. Where do I sign up? 7 - think of all the people he's employing with his "mere assembly plant". All those complaining combined, how many people have they employed with their wisdom and keyboard business acumen? Instead of finding fault... aspire. This is an inspirational company, no matter how you look at it. Innoson will not be selling if people were not buying. Instead of claiming "I won't buy it", maybe you should emulate those who think it's good value, who realize we must support and encourage our own, because it's the only way to get better. As for me, I'm saving up for a used Innoson SUV which should hit the market in 2-3 years, as the initial buyers trade in. When I can afford it, you bet I will buy an Innoson SUV. God bless Innocent Chuwkuma and people like him, using their talents and resources to make this country better than they met it. |
TLDR... too long didn't read... ![]() Why am I even commenting sef... I should go inside and sleep... mosquitos too plenti... |
Aunty, type or not, does not mean chopping will not happen oh ![]() Word to the wise... |
Okowa is slowing going to the dark side... it's sad to see the once humble commissioner, slowly becoming an IDGAF governor. |
Dear youths, please pay attention. It said he started his career as a producer in 2003. When did he finally blow? Nor be around 2013? TEN SOLID YEARS of grinding. He didn't start collecting major banks 2 weeks after launching his career. |
And it's people like these that are the best patrons of olosho. Make we hear word! ![]() BBNaija is a legal business, and unless the law is changed to prevent all kinds of reality shows, this call for abolishing appears borne of pure jealousy. There are many many urgent and pressing matters affecting people's lives, and yet it's this show people are losing sleep over. And now people are asking what we gain from the show... it's pure entertainment. You want to learn something, read a book, attend a seminar. Others are stipulating what a business should do with its own money. I mean, you're free to not patronize a business if you don't like it, but you cannot dictate what you - a non-paying customer - wants the business to do. |
Not saying that the bill is wrong, but they should first pass a bill for stiff penalties for NASS and Senators stealing money. They are always quick to jump on other people's ass, but won't fix their own shortcomings. ![]() See how efficiently EFCC has been harassing yahoo boys, yet the yahoo men are there sharing billions. |
I just can't believe that the people complaining cannot see that this is a deliberate effort by Innoson (and BBN) to advertise/promote a Nigerian luxury car brand. I'm very proud of Innoson Motors, and I'm very happy a popular show used it as a gift. More shows will be gifting Innoson cars. It will go a long way towards changing the "foreign is better" mindset of people in this country. That car is robust and rugged... exactly what we need for our roads. As for looks, it shares the same template as the G-Wagon, Range Rover, or LX570 (i.e. boxy and ugly in comparison to the the sleeker, smaller SUVs). If I could afford it, I would buy it, no question. Once the current cars are a few years old, we should see used IVMs enter the market, so they would become affordable for more people. If you want a cheaper Innoson, go for a Fox (7M) or G5 (13M) Irony: somebody says if BBN was in Germany they'd get a Benz; Italy they'd get a Lambo; forgetting that by this logic, if BBN is in Naija, you get an IVM (they are all luxury brands made by the respective country). |
ursullalinda:Oh don't worry, with 12% inflation, food will cost more next month. But the removal of VAT is very very good... not that most people pay it... when's the last time you paid VAT for any food you bought in the market (not supermarket)? |
