As often as it has been on Igbo matters on NL, we can have different opinions.
Take a look at Achebe's take on the issue of traditional rulers in Igboland in his famous book " The Trouble With Nigeria". The book was published in mid 80s , when the foundation for the current 'chiefs' syndrome in Igboland was laid.
The NPP of Governors Jim Nwobodo and Sam Mbakwe politicized the stools of traditional rulers in Igboland. Since then, the situation has worsened with more government and money-bag influences.

Expecting Umu Aba in the city to keep us ' Umu Enyimba' in exile informed about the true situation of things. Umu Enyimba's fingers are itching to bring investment back to the city. Folks are getting ready to rekindle the old business competition between Enyimba city and Onitsha Ado. As young Nigerians say these days, Aba no dey carry last !

As Ghanaian Highlife musicians use to say in the 80s " Enyimba na Aba Oh ". A new dawn that will bring back joyful memories of ' Uka Onu Social Club , Zebrudaya ( only few people still know that the comedy icon Chika Okpala, started his show in Aba ) and posh nightclubs ( a la Gemini) days will return in Aba's social and nightlife.

Onwuka Kalu ( Onwuka Interbiz) , said in 1985 that his dream was to turn Aba to Japan of Africa. Nnanna Kalu ( Star Paper Mill) equally echoed same when he was chairman of Aba chambers of commerce and industry. Surely their dreams will come true during our lifetime. Enyimba Kwenu, Enyimba Kwezuo nu !!

Every district in Aba will be connected to Geometric Power grid. Be it Osisioma, Abayi, Umungasi, Ogbo - Hill, Amanmowu( off Ngwa Road to Obuohia Rd. extending beyond Nkwo Ngwa), Ime Town, Okporo Umuogbo, Port Harcourt Rd axis after Coca - Cola plant , GRA, Ariaria, Umule, Uratta, Cemetery, the entire Obioma Ngwa . Where Nightshift no know for Enyimba City? I was there last in '05 though

berem: Are you sure he really supported the governor? besides, if the governor wanted to give the traditional rulers cars, why wait for 7 whole years to do that. I don't see anything wrong with the car gifts. Most governors do the same. Remember that traditional rulers in Nigeria are being given monthly salaries by their various state government.

Igbo people are republican culturally. We can do without perhaps over 1000 traditional rulers who are often imposed by the various state governors on the people. Why have a traditional ruler in almost every Igbo street when we have elected councillors in every ward?
It's a shameful import from the feudal North, which unfortunately, was elevated to a political norm in the second republic. The earlier we do away with such an undemocratic imposition, the better for Igboland. In my opinion, only few traditional rulers like Obi of Onitsha and Nze Njemanze of Owerri should be recognized by the state govts in the East.

I'm disappointed by Uba's support for the car gifts from Gov Obi. He even suggested that the chiefs should have been given two vehicles each.
It's a pity that tax payers money has been used to settle those modern ' Pimps' in Igboland.

With about €250 million grant from the EU, Nnaji's Geometric Company has no reason not to deliver the first privately owned electricity company in Nigeria. This man will do in the East of the Niger what MTN and co did to telecommunication in Nigeria. If the federal govt gives them free hand to operate, it will perhaps make the years of darkness a distant memory to Southeast dwellers in a decade.
Enyimba City's Geometric success will definitely spur more of such modell setups in Nnewi, Onitsha and Enugu by the company. This man (Nnaji) has just discovered a goldmine!

All things being equal, constant electricity supply in Aba will awaken the sleeping Titan's industrial potentials. Enyimba people are known for their ingenuity and passion for exploring new ventures.
It's Nnaji's zeal for indigenous answer to our numerous problems that should be emulated by successful Umuigbo. We must not wait for anyone to save us; we must be the architect of our own fate.
I'm looking forward to a new positive dawn in Aba. The big dreams of people like Nnanna Kalu and other pioneers of Enyimba City's industrial startups will finally come true. Osisioma and other industrial layouts will be witnessing renewed interests by both local and foreign investors.

Second-hand clothes business is an annual multi- billion dollars transaction across the globe. Though grades varies, such shops are also patronized by people in developed countries. Central European cream grades are the best, followed by the ones from North America.

@ One Naira. I grew up in Enyimba City, though Coal City born and educated, i respect every Igboman and woman and hopefully wish we unite and understand each other better as one people. We are all bound by one political fate.
I have seen what a fringe of uncontrolled political lunatics can do to an ethnic nation. What the Nazis did to Germany comes easily in mind, when an ethnic nation is overzealous about independence or territorial expansion.
Whichever cause Ndigbo wants to take must be done unilateral. This is the only way we can survive. Nobody wants another "Sabo" saga in Igboland!

Enugu or Anambra, there are both Igbo states! Irrespective of whether Afam made a mistake or not, my take is that some people are bent on understanding issues on only the age old Wawa/ijekebe theatre politics. I'm sorry for any Igboman who still reasons along that line, unfortunately many of us are still too clanish when issues concerning both states arise.
Who wants Okada riders in Onitsha Ado N'idu or Enyimba City dictate what Igbo politics should be? Coal City was Biafra.'s capital and still remains the 'Obi' Ndigbo in politics. The mentality of Enugu residents and its political sophistication is unrivaled in entire Igboland.
When Ndigbo gather in Enugu, they agree to speak with one voice after reaching a compromise.
Who knows if the MASSOB in Onitsha is not a wing of OMATA?

My joy here is the fact that, the real people who understand the technology of power plants and generation are getting the chance to help Nigeria get up. Germany's Siemens AG is a renowned expert in this field.
If Nigeria is serious about development, we must hands-off Chinese technology, especially in our power sector.

Those who were attacking you forgot that political decisions about Igboland are often determined in Enugu; not in Onitsha, Aba, Owerri or Awka. Nobody can change the historical narrative of Enugu residents role in Igboland, or that it was once the Biafra capital. We will be worse off than Mexico's narco towns if Ndigbo allows Okada people steer the wheels of Biafran politics.

Gov Obi is showing a good grasp of real politics here. But it will take a normal disgruntled Igboman more than a mere understanding of today's Nigeria politics inorder to accept that we need to put our house in order before crying wolf.

I'm highly impressed by the look of the stadium, it seems well maintained by the authorities - a rare feat in Nigeria!

The great Nike Grammar School, dreaded in football and track sports by most secondary schools in old Anambra state. I wonder what the situation is like these days.

These photos brings back sweet memories of 1985 during the opening ceremony of the stadium. I enjoyed the jamboree with friends; watching Rangers International play and win their first match in the new stadium was the highlight for us.

Hopefully more Innocent Egbunikes and Ezinwa brothers will be discovered in the Coal city state. Enugu schools were known for producing champions for Nigeria. How i wish the bigger ones will take to sports than engaging in campus cults.
