"We don't support each other" - this one got my attention most, because it's the biggest threat to the survival of Ndigbo. Without unity, Ndigbo will always have problem in Nigeria. Our culture may be divisive, but we must know that unity is very essential to the survival and development of any ethnic nation. Even the Jews some of us associate Ndigbo with culturally, are what they are today due to unity amongst them. The earlier we start imbibing the culture of unity, the better for our future.
Having 'Eze Ndigbo' everywhere( surprisingly on Nairaland too), and perhaps on all the streets of our cities will never help us. Unity is a political virtue a nation needs, just as fish needs water to survive!

Nigeria is a big irony: few flashy vehicles on our roads, expensive private jets owned by some elites and mansions in choicest districts of our cities blinds some shallow minded individuals to the reality on the ground. There is much more brutal poverty in Nigeria than the ruling parties and their apologists are willing to accept. All these poverty thanks to what we are operating in this country - corruption incorporated!

It seems dichotomy is gradually rearing its ugly head in Anambra state. It nearly destroyed the old Anambra. In my opinion, every part of the state should have a sense of belonging; zoning the governorship among the three senatorial areas will remove suspicions and encourage unity. Zoning works in some states, but it may also have problem in some states where trust is lacking amongst the senatorial zones. Ultimately, Anambra citizens have the final say on whom they want as their governor. Ife di mma n'aso onye obuna uso!!

eko ilee: GDP money is not the states money, taxes and allocations which formulates the actual budget the state functions with and we are talking about 3-4 billion which is nothing. There are states in Nigeria with less than a quarter if lagos states population with the same budget like lagos state. They are way way richer than lagos state.

GDP is only a reflection of the economy and never what's you going inside the states pocket.

GDP is an indication of the size of an economy, which should also mean more revenue in taxes obtained by a state in such economy.

It seems the message Nigeria governments are sending to civil servants is: steal enough when you're young and active, or you're dead on arrival if you're hoping for your pensions when you retire. What a way to build a robust civil service! A once reliable Nigerian civil service is now a shadow of its former image. Corruption Incorporated!!

It's unfortunate that the plight of pensioners is often overlooked in Nigeria. Even the federal government is a culprit in this issue.

Which other Nigerian state is richer than Lagos state? According to world Bank, Lagos has an annual GDP Of over $45 billion. This figure could make Lagos the 5th largest economy in Africa, if it were a country. Lagos state is Nigeria's numero unno!

That road used to be the best Highway in Nigeria between 1980 and 1989. The French company that constructed the road did a good job. By late 80s, there used to be some few bad portions between Agwu junction and where the current boundary of Enugu and Abia states is, but it never hindered traffic that much. At a time Setraco was given orders by FG to maintain bad portions in Agwu area, hence their site near Mgbowo. During the good old years, Enugu to Aba use to take about 1hr,30minutes. I would relax, listening to my favourite radio station, Radio Rivers 2 FM Stereo Port Harcourt(Nigeria's first FM radio station).

FERMA is notoriously known for doing shoddily maintenance works across the country. The agency probably underpaid the contractors, or carried it out in its known fashion - to last below 6 months.

Lagos state is rich enough to put smiles on the face of its pensioners. It's a shame that this is happening in Nigeria's richest state. Gov. Fashola, pay your state's retired senior citizens, please! They must not die in penury after working hard for the state for many decades.

Aguleri people are certainly not the only war-loving clan in Igboland. The mid 90s war with their neighbours Umuleri shouldn't be the only yardstick used in measuring their expertise in the art of war. How many Aguleri people joined or fought in the Biafran army? I've never heard about any notable member of Nigerian Army from Aguleri either.

Oil in Nigeria means more money for the elites, and more suffering for the masses. It's mad money for bloodsuckers!!

Oil or no oil, Coal City state will develop; the foundation has been laid. Enugu state can make more money by exporting cashew nuts than from selling a few thousands of barrels of oil. The state's proven coal deposits can equally be exported or used to power 4 large electricity turbines, all at the same time for all the eastern states electricity requirements. Not having a child in Igboland carries a big stigma, which the society is yet to come to terms with. What is going on Igboland, and in Abia state in particular? We need a new moral orientation in Igboland. My children don't need a 'dash' before they help at home. We've got shared responsibilities, and they pretty much know their part. I do not believe that Lagos kids are more intelligent than their peers in Enugu or Port Hacourt. Or do you have any data to backup your claim?

Lagos kids are used to an environment where everyone screams as if they've been hit by debris from another planet. From my observations, Lagos kids seems to want you to 'dash' them something before they help in house chores. The problem in the West is that kids want to own every new gadget, or the latest sneakers, thereby keeping you on your toes financially.

Aliens understand maintenance culture more than Nigeria public servants. Haphazard streetlights function at night, refuse litters everywhere and unmarked roads - which other signs do one expect from a decaying City? Yet, rents in Abuja are out of this world.
