That some people believe this makes me very sad. It just shows how much the human mind can be manipulated.

I am not against rounding up suspects. I am against posting of pictures of people who could be anybody and saying they are rapists. what stops me from copying a random picture of a Nigerian from face book (maybe someone I hate) attaching and ibo name to it and posting it on Twitter and Nairaland and saying the person is one of the 'rapists'?

I have read his story and I think he did it or at least knows who did. I an a strong believer in an eye for an eye but even then stories like this make me weak.

But seriously until a crime is reported and a victim is identified the police are pretty much powerless even in developed societies. If this event was caught on CCTV or recorded secretely by a member of the public not involved in the 'crime' then I may understand all the outrage but since it was recorded and broadcasted by the 'suspects' then it could be anything from a true r@pe to acting a p0rn movie. If the police investigated everything that was posted on Youtube, Youporn e.t.c. they would be chasing a lot of false leads.

I am usually critical of Naija but if these pictures show us the worst of the effects of the rain, then it is a non issue! Blown down trees is not the fault of the government and the roads are not flooded, just a lot of water which will can be expected during torrential rainfalls and it probably cleared in an hour or two.

Again just like the announcement of launching a vehicle registration database, this is something that should already be in place at any major airport in the 21st century. Things like this should not be announced, they should just carry on with the work and let people find themselves when the work is complete. Announcing scheme like these as if they are breakthrough developments is a shame!

Nigeria is finished. So only a few here can see that this thread is really about the abuse of power. A governor does not have the power to order the arrest of anybody otherwise he will be no different from a dictator in uniform. He can exerecise is executive powers by compelling the police to investigate a case/ complaint and then the police may decide to arrest a person after investigation or where there is reasonable suspicion of wrongdoing.

Reasonable suspicion does not come about based on what a governor thinks or says. Many Nigerians are 'educated illiterates'!

Do not negotiate with terrorists blah blah blah. United States this, United states that.

The US have been negotiating with the Taliban for years in Afghanistan and they even accept 'former' Taliban  members they like to refer to as reformed into their fold. If there was a military solution in Afghanistan, it would have been achieved years ago. When a group of men with AK47 and shoulder propelled rocket launchers who are not afraid to die take on the worlds military might for 10 years, then you either negotiate or eventually they will up and leave just like the Russians.

Did the country not negotiate with the Niger Delta terrorists? Is the region not relatively better for it. When all else have failed and the 'terrorists' show no signs of slowing their tempo, lives are being lost and insecurity prevails then negotiation is the only way out. These Boko Haram guys are exhibiting characteristics of their Taliban brothers so Nigeria is not going to be able to bomb its way to peace in this fight.

Just read the paragraph about what the govrernment should have done and I agree, secret negotiations are the way and not a public one with all the fanfare.

The governor of a state doesnt have the power of arrest. Only the police and other security oufits like the SSS do.

E for better small if it was a percentage of the whole population but AFAIK it is measured against the number of people able to work. So in Nigeria, 33 million out of say 80 million (I made this figure up. I am assumming half the population is of working age i.e. 17 - 74) who are able to work are out of work.

That means our unemployment rate is 37%!

My dad never stopped per say. I made the decision to stop collecting money from him in 2004. I went home in 2007 with my wife and child and my dad brought N50,000 to give to me to spend. I refused it politely and told him I had some naira on me. And even till this date, driving a Merc, with 2 kids and well over 30, my dad still asks me if I need any financial assistance whenever he calls me.

I am normally against Fashola because I know he is part of the chop I chop system but if this one program is successful, that alone would be enough for me to take all I have said against him and give him all the kudos.

Call the Ayatollah what you like but he is not the leader of Iran, he is the spiritual of a council. Iran has an elected president. In fact apart from Israel, Iran is the only democracy in the middle east and no matter how much the great satan tries to spin it that the elections were flawed, it cant be taken away that they practise democracy. Not everyone will practise democracy the way the great satan wants. The great satan release all kinds of negative information about Iran (only muslim country with democracy in the region) to the world through there great media machinery but yet keep quiet about dictators in their friendly gulf states and arab league countries. I have a Desire Z and it is a fantastic phone but there is are a few issues you need to beware of

1) Sleep of death: You put the phone to sleep and when you hit the power button to wake it up nothing happens. You have to pull the battery and reinsert for the phone to work again.

2) Disappearing gallery: Pictures will randomly disappear from you gallery and the only way to see them is to use a non-native app from the market, unmount your SD card and remount it or .

3) In my experience since I upgarded to Gingerbread 2.3.3 the phone is a tad bit slower. i think this is becuase the processor is only 800Mhz.

The phone also doesnt have a front facing camera and I personally miss that. The desire Z is my third HTC phone with a keboard (had HTC TyTN II and HTC Touch Pro 2) and my first phone with a capacitive screen. I think it will be my last phone with a keyboard because the capacitive screens are much better for on screen typing and with non native keyboards like swype, some people can type faster on the screen that with a keyboard.
A physical keyboard is still the fastest method of input for me but the difference between using the physical keyboard and the on screen keyboard for me has greatly reduced that I am not sure that added weight of a physical keyboard is justified.

Honeycomb is not a phone OS, It is for tablets. Gingerbread 2.3.4 is the lastest Android OS for phones.

When I see threads like this, it further confirms to me that I did the right thing and jumped the ship called Nigeria. These faceless people who condemn another mans religion probably have 'friends' who are muslims and will dare not say the things they type on here in front of them but the things they type on here is what they really feel about those 'friends'. People say the women in Kano need to prioritise what they protest about, that has to be one of the dumbest things in the world to say , there is something called freedom of choice. In the UK where there is child poverty, cancer e.t.c to worry about, there is a group of people that have been campaigning for free bike parking in central London every Wednesday for almost 2 years running. According to these cowns on Nairaland, these people are fools because there are more pressing issues they can be protesting about. what a dumb and myopic school of thought. In 2003, I was part of the stop the war protest in central London against war in Iraq. Again according to these clowns, myself and the million aother people that turned up are fools because there were more pressing issues in the UK at the time and we could have been protesting about those instead of a war that was about to commence thousands of miles away. Finally, Ras Kimono sang Free Mandela when there were thousands of political prisoners in prison in Nigeria. According to these clowns, he was a fool because he could have better spent his energy singing about the political prisoners in Nigeria.

I am a christian and I am not here to rubbish the Bible. I just quoted a paragraph in it to show the christian fanatics on here trying to put down another mans religion by quoting some paragraphs from the Quran in isolation that there are also parts of the Bible that can also be quoted in isolation to ridicule christians.

You refer to the New testament. I am sure some of our muslim brothers can also refer to paragraphs in other parts of the Quran that says something contradictory to the paragraph about arabs being the 'chosen' ones.

I am only trying to point out that it is not only in the Quran you find statements which are sometimes contradictory or infer heirarchical closenes to God

According to your theory I am also a compound fool lol. In the Bible, the Israelites are refered to as the chosen ones which means they have a relationship with God that is more special than I have with him.

I am suprised people on this thread have turned this into a numbers game and are talking about who has managed to kill the most of their perceived enemies. These are human beings we are talking about. An eye for an eye will make the world go blind. This kind of attitude will just entrench the never ending cycle of violence.
