To Uj" When I got to that part, I stopped, remembered the communication part in your posts that I have been looking over, looked at my wife (because I coudnt sleep since 11:45pm till now even after using Lexotan 1.5mb) and I said to myself it seems this is what will lighten my mind... Forgiveness...

I called her from bed (this is around 2:25am)... made her understand what the issue was and was still trying hard to call her to forgiveness till I ask her to lie on me... hugged for a long time and from no where, my mind that was so heavy became light as wool... that shows how much I love her...

We resolved the issue and all is well now. Thank you reliable Nairalanders.
Oga lexotan is a prescription drug oo. You already know the solution to the sleeplessness you had and you took a prescription medicine ahn ahn.

Well the 2nd paragraph made me laugh so hard if only everyone can just keep their ego aside once in a while we won't have much broken marriages oo.

Auntie zaynie, the list can be unreasonable at times oh. Like what are asking for 30 tubers of yam for??
Hahaha

40 or 42 yams is the standard where I come from but you can bring above 20 and above I think and they should be healthy looking yams.

Yam and the Fish seems the most expensive thing (apart from the bridal box) in Yoruba bridal list I think.

What they do is they share every item brought by the grooms family into 2 the brides mothers family shares half and the brides father family shares half.

In fact they even use knife to cut eja osan (bridal fish) sometimes its just for those peeps to have a bite

The fruits are shared everything is shared. Some get sugar , some get orange some get Yam and salt. What they get depends on how elderly they are. So at the end of the day the brides parents don't get it all. They seem to make sure the extended family gets something, even if its 2 cups of rice if a bag of rice is in the list.

But if you eat your daughters eru iyawo alone, they will keep on talking about it and most likely won't give you when theirs get married loool.

SmartMugu:
Typically, most leaders rely on 'updates' from others, and as they are constantly lied to about the state of many things, just like Jonathan was misled. J

I think our focus should be on the aftermath. After his surprise visit to the airport, several directors within that sector were fired just yesterday. Would we say they were fired because of some toilets?
Heck no. It's simply because of their corruption and negligence.

In my opinion, there nothing wrong with his surprise visit to the airport and consequently firing directors afterwords.
I am very happy to read some directors at MMA were fired yesterday , for those saying osinbanjo is not supposed to inspect, they seem to forget that this is Nigeria and Nigerians are actually the major problem of Nigeria.

An average Nigerian won't do his job effectively, an average Nigerian will extort money from people using the toilet, an average Nigerian will divert funds that is meant to buy toiletries,

BUT if a Nigerian knows a senior personell can come visit anytime then then they do things right, that's our mentality in this country and that's why something as simple as airport facilities can't be maintained, its we Nigerians that are the cause.

Let the firing begin , you are ineffective you get out that's the only language we nigerians understand by the time few directors are fired, the other will hold their team to carry out their jobs like sane human beings, its only a Nigerian that expects something from you for a job he's being paid to do, Oga do weekend for us , Oga something for the boys what nonsense.

The next is all those imigration officials at the airport, they really need to use some people as scape goat, use some people as an example and the only way is when jobs are lost, that's what will make people sit up. Its a shame that its only when there's a threat to you source of income that you do your work effectively but that seems to be what works for we Nigerians .

Read the comments and learn.

The students haven't even started and some cowardly Nigerians are already fidgeting, preaching for peace and talking about job loss.

Those great countries like US, Germany, Britain etc that lousy Nigerians run to had dirty pasts when they had to fight to earn respect.
A German national was just kidnapped in Kaduna. When Germany comes for his rescue, they will not be talking about peace and jobs. That is a serious country.
Nigerians are always thinking with their stomach. Match on them, spit on them, as long as belle dey full no wahala.
/
I just had to quote you.

This one is even better at least one can pretend to think they are trying to prevent show of violence from the students.

I was more shocked when people were almost blaming the FG for slamming the fine(which they were aware of the amount ) on mtn when they clearly contravened the agreement they were part of for this same "jobs will be lost if they leave" reason when we all know mtn can't afford to leave Nigeria if they can help it.

You are not a miser now, you earn about 50k per month, paying 150k per year seems okay, in fact some will even say its on the high side considering your income. You are paying about 12k plus per month on rent from your 50k that's about 25% of your monthly income.

You are not a miser oo.

If you can get cheaper accommodation it will even be okay I think.

7Alexander:
I'm not in support of what the man did, but, isn't the magun supposed to kick in when the woman has extramarital affair.

If yes, then why is she scared?
The reason she is scared is that after a specified amount of time and the woman does not sleep with any man she herself will fall sick and possibly die.

Its quite dangerous . If she's guilty the man she commits adultery with summasults if she's innocent she falls sick and possibly dies or if unfortunately the husband sleeps with her he is the one that tumbles.

The only question I always ask iwhenever this issue is discussed is what if she's innocent? That's how an innocent person will fall sick and die like that.

I believe there are antidotes though.

Indifferent.

Knowing naija the way protests can be highjacked and considering the fact that they seemed not to have informed the police officially about the peaceful protest despite the fact that the police has heared about it everywhere pretending not to and still waiting for official notification I won't advise them to go ahead.

I will even avoid taking the route of the protesters.I just hope hoodloms don't take advantage of it, that's my only concern.

Anybody can protest anything, having an effect is another ball game entirely.

Its the lady I pity in this situation.

It seems some nairalanders can't read to understand.

When you read and check the names mentioned well what happened is simple- the man doesn't believe the lady is his daughter (from forensic proof). The lady wanted to get married and I guess its that man she knows as a father, the mans relatives (from the surnames mentioned we know the man and woman who he claimed represented his family are relatives ) collected the traditional marriage requirements and gave the daughter out in marriage.

He is now coming out to distance himself from what they did. The girls mother is the one that seems guilty here, not the girl why now damage her reputation.

It was unnecessary in my opinion, that innocent lady may be scarred by this incident which she knows nothing about at least it is the person her mother says is the father she will call father.

Such a sad situation

To think a Yoruba person did this, na wa ooo.

Nice one op, I love your resilience

For those saying Yoruba landlords don't like renting to Igbo's there seems to be a reason from what I have gathered why some Landlords prefer other tribes than Igbos and it has nothing to do with envy or jealousy as been portrayed on this thread.

I was still discussing this issue with someone who told me the baba said no Igbo, what I get to hear generally is that " I don't want them in my house I don't want wahala, they will pay whatever amount of years you tell them to pay but getting the rent for coming year is a problem" I also hear the line of "For them any little thing police station they can be very troublesome and before you know it they charge you to court on your property and cobtinue when they know as long as the case is still in court they will still live on the property"

I admit that these are generalizations but the old Yoruba folks who have had about one or two nasty Igbo tenants will stand their ground that they won't rent it out based on previous experience and one can hardly convince them otherwise

Its mostly a case of one or two of you have done this to me then all of you are the same generalization which we know is not true.

So generally its based on experience, that's just what I have gathered from few landlords.

I do believe good and bad people are everywhere.

Timothy3113:
Bro you never answered my question??

Is the university established for the purpose of profit making or for the masses.

Ask yourself these questions why is it always that it is only the church owned university school fees that is highly critised??

A church is non profitable, charitable organisation, so what happens when a member of a non profitable organisation contribute to a project and it is not serving the purpose of the organisation.

And you saying have ever managed a nursery school before?? You don't even know me. In regards to that I can choose to make any amount my school fee, because people don't pay tithe, offering and projects fee to me.

I think am in support of the new FRCN law on our churches
You would be surprised that the fees covers only cost of maintenance and payment or even part of salaries, running a university isn't cheap. I won't be surprised if the church still pumps money to pay some salaries . In all honesty saying they are making profit may not be fair.

Mfm's MTU is around the same range 600-700 and they have a sort of scheme for indigent students (a sort of scholarship scheme ) where students can be adopted and someone either pays their fees or pay for their meals. Even standard feeding is now expensive.

The simple truth is quality education is expensive, studying science is even more expensive. Just one small equipment can run to millions of naira now that the exchange rate is terrible.

This is one of the reasons I was in support of LASU's increase then to 250,000, the fees students pay doesn't go anywhere and that's why we keep having terrible hostels, terrible facilities etc since government can't keep up with the cost.

Like someone said on this thread, somebody pays for the free or highly subsidized education we see. In some countries its the Government.

I would be very surprised if I see a private uni that charges less than 600k.

A university is more than structures that what some people don't understand and have some courses are more expensive than others because of the costs put in place to get such departments rolling.

People may have contributed to build a university but do you expect people to keep contributing to maintain the university, the university has to be maintained from fees paid.
