Please nobody has time to hate on you. What exactly is the question about remarking for? U have maxed out already so why are you remarking? And please don’t say you are not aware cos knowing the required scores and bands is one of the first things before even sitting for the exam. P.S the ppl you’re claiming that are hating on you already have ITA and PPR
You could have your PR and still "hate" on him. Why did you have to resort to that thought? Ask yourself what you would have said if those scores were all 6's. Would you still write the above and say he should have known? Don't we all see people post IELTS scores here from time to time? If you feel threatened by those numbers (that aren't even incredibly excellent to start with), then you need to ask yourself some serious questions about how you see things at first glance.

Golden advice for you. Write out responses to some basic interview questions in a notepad and place it just above your zoom video (which you should minimize just enough to see all the expressions of the speaker). Use these responses as your template to provide well-worded responses to the questions.

in my opinion, I think the present VC model is flawed and also ruthless, the aim is to make money as fast as possible, don't they care if people will get sacked. They give large amounts of money to startups without a tested business model, they force you to mass recruit to grow fast, then make sure you raise again to mass recruit.

The VC model is like gambling, throwing a lot of money everywhere, hoping that one company will do an IPO to cover up the losses of other failed investments.. literally what that does is make the industry a place for mass layoffs and instability.
You've got a good point. One wonders why a company like Pinterest should have any more than a 100 employees. Instead they have 3200. One experienced teenage developer can literally run that app from his basement.

yes you have to. Doesn't matter that they didn't stamp your passport. Those records exist somewhere in a database they all have access to.

Hi guys,
Update
Everyone talks about how to do some courses to get into IT.
A colleague of mine did scrum and began negotiating double his salary with new employers to my greatest surprise.
Seniors in the house, I'm looking for 6figure now. I've done and gotten my PSM. I'm also currently taking data analysis training with blacktech.
I'm open to tips and advises on how to break into tech with my PSM for a start and also eventually when I'm done with my data analysis training.
Thank you
Take a certification with a real university like those in Toronto or take a google certificate and make sure you really understand what it entails because, oftentimes, the recruiters will ask you specific questions. Essentially, your focus should be being able to scale the interviews. Once you have your certification / certificate, finish some related projects (credit risk analytics and/or prediction), put it on GitHub, and link it on your resume. Tidy your resume to conform with the role you would love to get and start applying for as many jobs as you can

Is anyone impacted or being impacted by the recent tech layoffs?

They just did a series of layoffs where I work. Lost some good colleagues, even some recently promoted ones. Hopefully they find a good job sooner. This is the new reality of working in Tech. Crazy events like this could set you back after you have already set up yourself with mortgages, car financing, etc. However, I do believe that one of the best things anyone in this field can do for themselves is to never stop learning, so that you are an expert onto yourself and can always find a job somewhere, somehow.

What's wrong with you has to do with tunnel vision? You don tunnel yourself into liking this girl and can't help yourself any better by taking a step back and assessing why you are obsessed. Don't do that. The more you try to win her attention and she ignores you, the more desperate you become. Again, don't do that. At this moment, the best thing you can do is to simply not talk to her anymore. Give her a long break and she will send you a message later at some point. If she doesn't, move on. If she does, don't be quick to reply.

It's just the timing in the chats for me, really. The way she replies like several hours later, leeemaoooo

We may not agree on this but a petroleum engineer who trained himself/herself in Nigeria should not be deterred from seeking similar roles in Canada. When I got the PR and was asked when I was moving my answer was consistent "I want to get a software engineering job before I move so I wont have to spend my savings". I got a similar response from people based in Canada about how I have to get canadian experience first and how recruiters won't even consider me when I'm outside canada. The main point is that I believed it was possible and worked towards it before luck shined. Many believe its not possible to get a job in their field right away and don't even try . At the moment I know up to 8 people who landed jobs in their field before even landing in canada (banking, consulting, tech, education, business analysis..). Thus I dont believe this is not a common practice.
You said as much when you mentioned that out of 72 people only 3 of you were offered full-time positions. Again, that makes it very obvious it's not the rule, but the exception. You can't possibly mean that all 72 persons could have been offered full-time positions. There's a reason that was difficult to achieve in the first place, and it's not all down to the effort that anyone puts in. I hope that puts what follows in context.

The reality of the Canadian job market is intense competition among highly-skilled immigrants, unequal opportunities in different domains, and underemployment in many institutions. You would agree with me that the proportion of job opportunities in Tech in Canada is very high compared to many other fields. Perhaps that's one of the reasons you were able to secure job from your home country? I bet if you looked at the number of people getting jobs from their home country before migration, Tech would top the list. Evidently, it's a booming economy in Canada and employers only need to do coding interviews to assess the skill of the applicants. Compare this with many other positions where they would often require that you have "Canadian experience", how is an immigrant in their home country supposed to scale this barrier? And please don't say "Canadian experience" is not a thing like many woke LinkedIn influencers are wont to say. Even the Ontario Human Rights Commission realizes this is a thing.

The proportion of you guys who get jobs from your home country is very small. And please don't put that to your own effort. It's small for a reason and that reason is not because job applicants are not putting in their best while applying. Certainly not. It is small because many employers are unlikely to consider experience acquired outside of Canada (refer to the link above). Of course there are exceptions, and it's because government institutions are desperately trying to eliminate the barriers that prevent these exceptions. It is also not unusual that exceptions are made in fields like Tech for the same reason I mentioned above.

You may have set your own mind on things and finally realized them, but that doesn't suddenly make it the rule. Your case and those of a few others don't make it such that reality suddenly changes. Reality is what it is. That doesn't make it bad. It just makes it such that those coming into this country have a realistic expectation and don't beat themselves up for not getting a job from their home country.

4. Job market- ....I have seen videos where people preach about survival jobs being an entry point to the Canadian job market. I don’t agree with that narrative. Survival jobs should be the last option . I got a job in my field before even landing in Canada. More and more people have been able to do so as well.
I disagree with you on this. You are the exception, not the rule. The standard pipeline is to work so-called survival jobs before getting that appropriate (or desired) job. There's no other way you want to spin it.

The problem is in thinking that working so-called survival jobs is denigrating. Working factory jobs isn't the only option available. There are also respectable remote "survival" jobs, and for some other people, the pay is actually what makes it a survival job, not the job itself. In fact, this is pretty much the case for the majority since most people would never really land that lucrative job to start with. If you were working an oil company job paying you over 40m per annum in Nigeria and then moved to Canada to take up a customer service role paying you 45k CAD, then that clearly is a survival job. But if you were working a customer service job in Nigeria earning 4m per annum, and then landed another customer service job in Canada paying you 45k CAD, then that clearly is no survival job. You have, in fact, simply landed in your field of work and should work your way up from there. "Survival" merely depends on the context.

In any case, I never got a job in Canada from Nigeria. I came to Canada for school, applied to jobs for some months after school, and ended up in my desired field with way more than my desired salary. That's also a pathway. Yours, whereby you got a job from Nigeria, is super rare and will not happen to a sizeable handful. Heck, out of 10, it won't happen to 9. Selling that narrative as the likely or plausible scenario for the majority is just outright inconsiderate.

Finally, working so-called survival jobs is not a bad thing and, more importantly, it's not unusual in the Canadian job market, even if it's not necessarily what everyone must do when they land. Key here is that it's the reality of the Canadian job market. Nonetheless, whoever does it only needs to know that they should keep their focus and continue working towards getting into their desired field, something which will inevitably happen if they keep at it. That's the reality of the majority.

I don't know if this is the right section to post this, if not, mod please take it to the right section.

My online brothers and sisters, help me thank God for preserving my life as I almost left this wicked world last Friday, 13th January, 2023. 13th January has become a day I will never forget in life. Since I graduated from the university, I am yet to get a job that is well-deserving of my status. I'm not talking about big jobs with heavy remuneration (not as though I won't grab it if I see one of such) but just something to earn a living from. The last salaried job I did was a contract job which lasted only 6 months. Since then, despite my efforts, applying to every nook and cranny to land a job, I have been unlucky. However, I still keep hope alive.

However, it makes me think Nigeria really need to redefine and re-axamine the value of education in the country and what it stands for. Does it stand for nation building or for frustration? That is something for another day BTW.

Back to the topic, so with a woman and two kids to take care of, I had to go do labourer job at a construction site to earn something. That Friday was my second day in the place. I never thought it would end in disaster but I thank God that even after falling from such a distance, I didn't die, neither the mason man that was on the scaffold.

The thing is that I was carrying mortar and blocks to the mason, climbing using ladder. You know this local scaffold builders use. That thing they nailed together as V 'abi' L, place them on the wall and put planks on top to stand on. I don't know what happened that the blocks put at one end to weigh its balance failed while I was already up there. Long story short, everything collapsed and that was how we landed on the ground from the finishing end of the building. It should be a distance of 12 feet or more.

What worsened the case was the mason. As the scaffold collapsed, he immediately and unconsciously grabbed the newly laid blocks in safety attempt, not remembering he just laid those blocks. You know that kind thing. Landing on ground, that was how those blocks came upon us in their number like some sort of blast. To top it all, I didn't earn a penny that day. The man is even blaming us for the collapse.

I sustained injuries but my waist especially seems to have dislocated as a result of hitting it on ground while landin. I have been feeling sharp pains from the inside since then.

Since that Friday, I have been down physically and psychologically. As I am reflecting on it today, I decided to write it down.

No matter how it has affected me, physically, psychologically, economically and health-wise, I still thank God for sparing my life and I want you to join me in thanking him.

Thank you for reading also.
You need to go check yourself. X-rays and stuff. You could have massive issues going on inside your body as it is.

RomanceRe: Nigerian Men And Women Are Sexually Frustrated And Lonely In America And Canada by NuCypher:
Ednut03:
Yeah. There are Nigerian Men in America who has not had a decent chance at sex for years. The only chance at sex they get is when they visit Naija once in a while. You ain't even getting a white chick to talk to you or give you her number if you ain't ridiculously good looking, dress well and speak really high.

Same apply to a woman and it's even worse. Men are thirsty, unlike Women, and she might get sexed and few attentions until the sex lasts. But she's not going to get any commitment if she doesn't match the beauty standard. So, she will be lonely too. Nigerian Men are still better positioned than her. And her woes even worsen if she's above 30. They rarely get white men. No they don't, because Nigerian women also fall short of the look And beauty standard

And if you're in dating app as an average black man (you're bleeped if you're ugly), you'll, 90% of the time be swept left over.

Hence, many Nigerian guys are frustrated and won't talk about it

Don't believe the stupid lies we peddle on here about white woman loving black for our dick game. It's a lie. If you ain't 100% attractive to her, your dick game doesn't matter. You need to be tall too, because their men are really tall. You can't be 5"9 and be expecting any reasonable result scoring a white chic, it ain't happening
I don't know why this should be any surprising or should cause a kerfuffle. People will always only be interested in their kind. If you went to India, not just the west, most Indian women will not show interest in you. They will only show interest in their men that they have grown with all their life. It's not rocket science. You look exotic to them and most people aren't that willing to try things out of their bounds. Of course, there will be some Indian women who may like you from afar, but even they are unlikely to approach you for fear of triggering hate from their fellow women who would see them as unusual in their taste. I don't understand why this should be any surprising.

In case you aren't aware, even white folks who come to Nigeria suffer the same fate. Many Nigerian girls are simply not attracted to their skin, while more are just attracted to their money. As an oyinbo person in Nigeria, it must be a constant struggle for you deciphering if the Nigerian woman you are with is merely attracted to your money or to you. You don't understand how difficult this is until you are in those shoes. Nobody wants to try exotic fruits.

So, it's not surprising. Wake up and stop seeing this as new revelation. And don't generalize. There are some white women who will always like black men. When I was in Turkey, I had a Turkish lady all over me even when I wasn't interested. To think it applies to all of them is just, what do I say, puerile. So, hesitate to generalize and look at the bigger picture.

Merry xmas every1. Hope you all are having a great night. I nid advice pls

I am married with a kid, my husband traveled out of the country for a greener pasture, I moved out of our rented house and relocated back to my mom's place.

We had sold our properties for 300k he told me he doesn't know how long it will take him to get a job in the new country and I should use the 300k to start up a business so i will be able to take care of our daughter until he will be stable in the new country.

I have decided to start selling foodstuffs in the front of the house and i will use the remaining money for my daughter school fees in January.

My mom asked me to borrow her 120k to pay for my brother school fee and i refused explaining to her why i can't give her the money and she has been giving attitudes and refused to speak to me, i went to the market today i bought xmas clothes for my daughter and a wrapper for my mom she rejected it.

I know she is doing all this for me to give her the money but i will not give it to her no matter what. I don't understand why she is angry when she knows that my husband is not around i should use the money wisely because if i am broke i have no one else to help me.

Am i wrong for refusing to help her?
Have you heard of something called rent? You owe her rent. While you don't have to give her any of the money you have for whatever reason, you at least should give her rent for staying in her house.
