Good evening nairaland family.
I have never been in such a situation where i am afraid to make mistake like this.

I have been with this girl for more than three years, of courses i promised her marriage, but i have been seeing so many red flags which after doing my findings, takes me to her being a narcissit.

My problem with her:

1. She wants to control and dominate
2. She loses control of her words when angry; she talks to anybody in any manner she likes when she is angry
3. When she is wrong, instead of apologising, she rather manipulate you to take the blame (gaslighting)
4. She appears disrespectful at times, you dare not tell her that she is disrespectful, she will bring up manipulation.

Her good side:

1. She is a type of woman you can call good woman, considering the moral decay of our society
2. She is a virgin, even though am not bothered about that
3. She can go any lenght to make sure her man and family is ok
4. She cares about me so well, prays for and check on me very well.
5. She is contented with the little i give, even if i know she nags about it sometimes.
6. She is always ready to help when things goes bad.

This good sides if hers is the reason i have still not kicked her out, but the red flags are so clear and i would not want to over look that.

Pls advice, because i think these behaviour of hers won't go, and if i marry her, i have to live with with.

Let me tell you straight, bro. I had a girl like this once, very homely girl and definitely wife material, but she had those deficiencies. Really pretty girl any guy would drool over. As much as I liked her, I just had to give myself sense. Your future self will thank you. Don't be carried away by your immediate needs. Instead, think about your future needs. Do they matter to you? Does peace of mind matter to you? Don't forget that marriage eventually loses all its shiny appeal and what's left is the crust of human behaviour. Are you ready to wade through the troubles that will surface then or does your peace matter to you? I leave you to follow your intuition. Just know that your future needs matter just as much as your present.

With 100k annual earning, you are most likely going home with about 60-70k after tax. If we take the upper end of 70k, after your rent at around 1600 for the most basic comfort for a single person, you are looking at about 50k remaining. There are other expenses like internet, car insurance, hydro, misc, etc. At the end, with a stringent savings rule in place (not taking anyhow vacations and eating out too frequently or going to see friends in other cities), you are looking at $40k remaining. That's probably the best you can save in a year, provided you are not like our Nigerian folks who like to feel they have arrived and start taking on the incredible expenses. $40k is super decent as savings in a year. Given the exchange rate loss in Nigeria, this is a much better situation to be in than to be in Nigeria.

I live abroad too, and the problem with talk like this is that it's not the complete truth. Dude probably came to Canada with a lot of money saved from working for several years in a solid company in Nigeria, else there's no freaking way you are buying two houses in 16 months and saving 120k. How much you come dey earn? How much be your salary? How much you dey pay as tax? Even someone working in a FANNG can't save 100k in a year in the first year of working. But of course, if you come from Nigeria with a sizeable amount like 50million naria, you can easily complement it with your savings from here and buy your two houses, if the story is true. Working in a FANNG, you best bet is saving 80k CAD a year in your first year of working, and that's with the most minimal expenses too and no kids. With kids, a non-working wife, and lots of expenses, you best bet is no more than $40k in savings in a year. Let's tell the truth. But that's still better by far than what you can save working in Nigeria where anyone can shoot you on the street at any time.

All these women are just devils, especially if they have lived or continuously live in the western world. They weaponize their advantage merely because they start earning some money. Na to avoid them or to never get married in the first place. As they enter your live, they are already mentally assessing how much they will leave with once they are fed up.

These constituent elements do not diminish the reality of the salaries. While you can focus on net, my points are overall comp/salaries. Nobody advertises roles and quote net salaries. If you don’t know that, your insider experience and perspective is just irrelevant.

If he leaves at any time, he loses his right to the stocks. Not to mention the stocks are subject to the ups and downs of the stock market. Some of it is also sign-on, which is also paid in chunks over a definite period. So, your friend doesn't make $345k (continuous tense, in case you miss the English). On the regular, he makes way less, given that's just total comp, some of which is spread over several years, conditional on his continued stay at the company.

I know you will still come back with your half-thought arguments. But this is the last I'm saying on this. Many of you Nigerians are just too easily impressed once somebody starts throwing numbers at you that you don't even know the details of.

Go check glassdoor, the average base pay for amazon software engineering director is around $200k or less; the rest is vested stocks. No wise company pays you in cash $345k per annum. Doesn't happen. don't be deceived. That is very likely Total comp than it is annual salary. The annual salary component there is possibly only 180k or even less. No let anybody deceive you. He doesn't make $345k in annual salary. That's very, very unlikely. And that stock component too is vested.

The major problem with Nigerians is unrealistic expectation. The other problem with the women putting out YouTube videos is loneliness and lack of a better activity. They therefore project their insecurities and regrets on those back at home.

If you get the chance, travel. Minimize your expectations and work within the bounds of reason. If you must go back to school, please do. It helps you in the long run. Be determined to succeed because success doesn’t come easy. Nobody owes you anything and this is not Nigeria where you can sit and do nothing.

I wonder how no one has woken up to the fact that there is no topic these lonely Nigerian women in Canada won't sensationalize for views on their decrepit Youtube channels. When they are not crying their sorry eyes out at night for lack of having a real man in their lives, they are shooting countless Youtube videos to cope with the loneliness living alone in Canada brings. Some of them have not been touched at the slightest by a man since they left Nigeria for Canada. Youtube is their best buddy for keeping loneliness, fatigue and boredom at bay. Let them have it in peace. This is a non-topic, but they need content. Pardon their ways.

But the owner of this one Youtube channel is certainly not pleasant on the eyes.
