[quote author=banjolek post=46655977]God! What does she need all that money for? You need to put your foot down a set a financial tone now or it will be difficult to change in future. You don't have kids yet so what's the expenses? Two of you should make a reasonable estimate of her monthly expenses plus feeding- mostly fuel, snacks, cosmetics, etc. Add 30% of that for unforseen expenses. That is what she gets monthly, the rest she should be dedicated to a purpose. Buy foodstuffs in bulk and store. Discuss any monetary gift to extended family members with her. Keep it balanced. Women always cry foul in this area. |
I do not have a solar energy system yet, but I have such a plan, which is why have done a bit of reading around. Maybe you are like me and you are looking for resources and any help you can get. Here is a calculator to help you size your battery, charge controller, nubmber of solar panels you will need, etc. Before you start, you will have to know what is your energy requirement, i.e., how many watts of electricity do you intend to use with solar. It will help a lot if you watch the videos (video links) posted on this section earlier. If you intend to watch TV with your decoder, run few light bulbs, fan and computer when power fails, you can start with, say, 1200 watts. In the calculator, choose temperature of 80F(27C), since Nigeria climate is warm. Choose 5 hours of sunlight; that is what we get on the average every day. For the inverter, normally your inverter should be able to handle loads about 30% above your total energy need to take care of surges. The calculator will make corrections for energy losses due to fact that the system is not 100% perfect. So the figures you get are good to use. But if you would like to follow the logic of how they came about, watch the videos, if data permits. Click "Like" if you found this helpful. https://www.altestore.com/store/calculators/off_grid_calculator/ |
[quote author=iliyande post=46709088]What makes a piece of music secular? Why do we listen to a piece of music? Is it for the content/message or the beat? Fanatical Christians have a way of thinkig in a straightjacket manner. Will a Christian go to Hell if he/she listens to Bob Marley's Equal Rights; Or Fela"s Yellow Fever? Certain moods call for certain kind of music, including gospel music. I have several folders R&B, Gospel, Dub, Jazz, Naijamix, Highlife, East African Benga (if you grew up in that time), etc. I do not feel less a Christian listening to them. Ironically, when these so-called unbelievers' music get the word "Jesus" injected into them, they lose their "worldliness", become "purified" and brothers and sister will sind and dance non-stop. |
[quote author=merikims post=46663956]I rarely comment on issues like this unless I have given it deep thought and I am very sure of what I am advising. May we answer this question: Who had the final say when it comes to choosing a wife or husband? Definitely not the parents. Even in those days, when the suitors came, the lady would still be asked if she accepted so the elders could go ahead and drink the wine, etc. It's easy to say "Pray about it", but that's not been realistic. This is a practical problem that needs a practical solution. If love is not enough for a successful marriage, what is? The lady should not be afraid of being disowned by her father, he is just bluffing. It is better to marry somebody you love with whom you can build together. That way, you become an equal and respected partner. Provided a man has potential and is hardworking, ladies go for him if you love him. Parents soon pass away and a wife is stuck with her husband for a long time. Better the devil you know than the unknown angel. If problems arise in the future, it will be easy to bear 'cos it was a personal choice... But not so if the girl was forced into it. |
[quote author=ObiOmaMu post=46687770]Regardless how much he is worth and how he made his money... But when an adult man poses with money and personal items he thinks are classy in a photograph for public consumption... That's regression to infancy. Nigerian billionaires and their American, European, and Asian counterparts, who have thousands of employees do not behave this childish. Frequently, lots of people clear their closets of unused and rarely used brand name items, including Gucci, and donate them to charity. And what lessons does the OP want us to learn from this post? Many will begin to get "ideas" and fall into temptation. |
shamecurls:U, too. Your eyes sef na X-ray. Still lol.... |
shamecurls:I can't control myself laughing at your comment.. Reminds of those secondary school days I went up North on holidays and was assisting my uncle at a building site. A girl, young, beautiful and fleshy and "soft" all over, came to sell rice to labourers onsite. One of the Aboki guys at the site took a long look at her (same time a I did), turned to me and said " Di-anyi", meaning my guy, "This one na toto." My guy, you see what I am saw?" Lol... |
[quote author= post=46525116]Very lovely tomatoes. I am going to use the ripe tomatoes pic as a wall paper. Lol..... |
I read a recent post on Babatunde Fashiola, the Minister of Power, carrying out mass installation of electric meters on poles in Kano. The post has generated another question/dimension to it, going by the responses I have read so far. I have decided to make this question a separate thread instead of allowing it to be "swallowed" in the myriad of responses already registered. The question is: What is the relevance of a professional qualification and experience to a ministerial post? Some say Fashiola, being a lawyer, is ill-fitted in such a technical post as Minister of Power. Others say it doesn't matter since he has experts advising him. Another question is: how much should a minister know compared to the experts advising him/her? If the expert adviser knows more than the minister, shouldn't the expert adviser be the minister instead? Historically, a lawyer had always been Attorney General, and nobody without requisite qualifications/experience had been governor of Central Bank. Well, Tourism, Youths, Sports & Development and the like may welcome anybody, but not...... What do think, people? |
[quote author=rottennaija post=46538570]Why are these meters on electric poles? Why not make this meter smart, in such a way that they can be monitored remotely so that the meters will be mounted on people's home? Well said. I have never seen electric meters meant for homes on poles in the open. Very soon, the meters will develop problems because of the elements. Then somebody will come up with a new idea and all the money spent is wasted. If we must use this technology, we must use the way it is used in other countries. |
[quote author=maximunimpact post=46539997]Do we have an explanation/reason for move, nay, suggestion? So if say person wan touch base for villa to see how im project dey waka and ran out cash, im go drive enter city to the nearest ATM to withdraw such huge sums to pay for labour and materials. Is it not huge cash transactions that take most people to the ATMs? If it is my money, why shouldn't I use it as I wish? Most of our policy makers do not read/research issues widely before going into conclusions. |
[quote author=acxlers2014 post=46497404]We sympathize with you on your ugly experience. But come ooo, how did water enter pumpkin sef? What was the girl's grouse with you? There must be something in you or about you that put her off. Unless we know what she found wanting in you, guys may not learn much from your experience. She disposed of you too quickly. Tell us more, please. In any case, I think 3 months was too short for you to have started making marriage plans. |
[quote author=STFUand4kMeHARD post=46512819]School feeding is the least of problems of parents. No school child has ever starved to death. Parents can handle that one. How will this work, if I may ask, and who will benefit? Is every school going to set up a kitchen or will the food come packaged from ZXZ Company? The real problems of parents are school fees, books, poor salary, etc. This food thing will be difficult to manage plus it sure will create avenues for embezzlement. If the government wants to help parents with the burden of education, it should increase workers' salary, abolish tuition fees and supply books free to school children. This will achieve more spread than giving school kids few spoons of rice, porridge, bananas, etc. I see the programme failing/abandoned before it has even started. |
Trina0936:That's the whole truth, my sister. |
[quote author=silvoice post=46474378]Here is the solution, my people. Since the Sunday work is optional plus wife wants husband to massage her belly on Sundays, the man should skip every other Sunday. Also, he should cut down on or totally eliminate some expenses to make up for lost income. They should go for cheaper brands and reduce usage/rations until things improve. I believe this is a fair compromise. |
Question deleted by me. Original OP is not serious. Profile shows tendency to invite questions but does not respond. |
[quote author=kevin25 post=46485540]Frankly, guys should stop producing a balance sheet of what they spent on their girlfriends when the love bubble goes burst. Reasonable spending is inevitable in a relationship and I am certain the guy felt manly and fulfilled doing it. It appears that after so many years of dating, there was no hint the guy had marriage in his dictionary. So the lady sowed a seed elsewhere. |
[quote author=Nyceguy92 post=46340337]MORE RESOURCES ON SOLAR ENERGY SYSTEM. I have done more reading and research on the above subject. The beauty of the videos and the write up below is you can estimate your energy usage; calculate the size and number of your panels and battery, etc even before contacting your technician. You may wish to check this site out. Better to print the article and read/digest at your leisure. http://www.leonics.com/support/article2_12j/articles2_12j_en.php |
[quote author=AraduF90 post=46453903]OP, your info on this boy is scanty. At 10, he has the creativity of an adult. What is his background? If he is in school, where? If a reader wants to help, what's the contact, etc? Instead of devoting so much time and space on bikini bodies and cleavages, it would be nice if a space is dedicated to assisting promising young Nigerians like this boy. Those who know how to bring this boy to the knowledge of relevant authorities/NGO, over to you. |
The need for alternative sources of power, especially solar power, is on the increase. Many Nigerians, including myself, plan to install solar energy systems in their homes and offices but do not know much about it. A thread appeared - more are coming up - on NL few days ago by SycophanticGoat. It asked people already using solar energy to share their experiences so that prospective users would not make mistakes. Well, I picked up interest and researched around and what I found was interesting. If you are planning to install solar energy and you do not know Jack about it, these videos will open your eyes. Do you even know how to calculate your energy needs or chose the right panel, battery, charge controller, and inverter? You need to know these so that you will be able to make inputs when discussing with your agent. It is possible that others have seen these videos, but how would I know. I found them very interesting and thought I should share with my people. All you need is basic understanding of Watts, Ampere, Voltage. The solar system could stand alone or tie to the National Grid, for example. The reference location may be different but the concept is same. Better to watch the first two clips on Designing a Solar Powered Backup..... as an overview and some specific details. The other videos on Off Grid Solar Power...is more in-depth. As internet connection/data is obvious problem, you can download the files on your laptop/PC and watch them offline at leisure. I use Freemake Video Downloader, which one can get free online. VocalWalls:Well said. Employers know that people lose their jobs one way or another. If the guy knows his job and impresses a potential employer in a future job interview,he will surely be hired. If there are packages that go with the sack, he should go for them and not resign. Next time he is asked why he was sacked,he should tell them the company downsized. It is acceptable. |
[quote author=dainformant post=46291972]Posts like this make me depressed and give me goose pimples. If it is not a call to identify the unknown victim, why should one post stuff like this? We have all seen accident sites and dead bodies before. |
[quote author=jenny88 post=46247094]Your post is a very useful and practical one. It is a welcome diversion from "bikini body," "stun in xyz dress," "wore to Church," "cleavage" and such other mundane posts we see here. Perfume production sounds a bit more involving for a student. Instead, selling is better. If a reliable source is found, one can sell small package sizes of authentic men and women's perfumes and roll-ons. It is not bulky and it is sure to sell. Small food canteen: In my days we had guys who had food canteens operated by a small number of hired hands. The student only goes to check /supervise on regular basis. Keep the menu simple, maybe rice, beans, foofoo. Good quality men and women's underwears and cosmetics are hot cakes: pants, boxers, inner shirts, belts, braziers, hair products, etc. I knew guys who bought sewn shirts and resold to us in school. Books: They could be professional books used by various departments or for leisure. It took a bunch of selected best sellers to IMSU recently. All the law students were looking for John Grisham. Medical students, students of Nursing, Engineering, Humanities would like texts different from the recommended ones. I understand that students of Architecture make money on the side by producing simple small drawings for those intending to build and helping at sites. Smart phones and digital cameras have dulled the market for photography. In those days, I did mobile photography on campus and at home during vacations covering weddings, parties, individuals, etc. Load your camera and take it with you to class. When those pretty babes hang around the guys to buy them plantain chips and coke, they would like to capture that casual moment. The list is endless. One must balance the need to make money with the necessity to do well in studies. |

The former heavyweight boxing champion, Mohammed Ali has been confirmed dead at age 74. Ali was admitted on Tuesday in a United States hospital in Phoenix for a respiratory problem. Born Cassius Clay before converting to Islam, Ali has been suffering from Parkinson's Disease, which makes movement difficult with shaky hands. He made boxing appear so easy and was noted for " I am gonna float like a butterfly and sting like a bee" statement. Notable among Ali's fights was the Rumble is a Jungle fight between him and George Foreman in Kinshasa, Zaire. Ali was in the limelight during the times of Sonny Liston, Joe Frazier, Ken Norton, etc. We will miss him dearly.

[quote author=catchfun post=46214646]Una no know say all the animals and birds get Animal Verification Number(AVN)? Even the ones young boys dey cut leaves for in the village get secret AVN... That way, census go dey easy. Lol.... |
[quote author=God2man post=46158601]I tire for this philosophical excursion on women's hairdo. It is obvious from the initial reluctance that your wife did not want to cut her hair; you forced her. Did you do it out sheer dislike for weaves and attachments or for economic reasons? Most women who cut their hair usually have peculiar reasons for that, not out of choice. Just as men are obsessed with carving their beard and mustaches to a pencil line, so do women want to look good. Even White ladies wear weaves, but you won't know unless you are told. The notion of demons initiating women through their hair is very tenuous. It reminds one of those elementary poorly scripted Nollywood movies. Please change. |
buksaylor001:It is clear that you are one of those who tell the man to quit. I don't think you know much about the psychology of women. I related this experience to buttress my point. The lady denied herself the money and she may have good reasons for doing so. The issue here requires careful thought, not hasty conclusions. |
laivwire:Yeah! Like you read my mind... The OP needs to give more details to help his readers. Perhaps the lady had a genuine reason for denying herself to give the money to her ex and nothing more. Most comments here are too hasty and uninformed. |
grossintel:Exactly my view. Those who tell the guy to leave the lady are not realistic. It is not that easy to withdraw from a good relationship. However, the OP gave scanty details of what happened. Same goes for the guys; they hang onto their babe's until much later. So no Saints here. It could be that the other guy was in serious difficulty and the lady wanted to help and finally disengage. It could also be that she was being blackmailed. The man needs to talk with her lady to find out why she wired the money to her ex. I don't believe she won't make a good wife because of this. As an example, I once had a babe who was getting married. She showed up one evening and we said the final "goodbye" all night. That's the reality. |
[quote author=abidemidare post=45959127]Is it because the car smokes that you want to replace the engine? How does it it drive? Smoking in a car can be due to several reasons. What is the colour of the smoke?Black, white, etc? If engine oil is leaking into your exhaust system, car will emit smoke. You have to research very well to pin down the cause of the smoking before you do anything further. However, if need be and you see a competent mechanic, I prefer engine rebuild to buying a Tokunbo engine. |
