Politics › 6 Trillion Naira Budget for 2016 Approved By FEC by obailala(op): 9:25pm On Dec 07, 2015
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the Medium Term Expenditure Framework which pegs the 2016 Budget at six trillion Naira.

This is the outcome of the emergency Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari. Briefing State House correspondents after the meeting, the Minister of National Planning, Udo Udoma, who joined the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, said that the crude oil price would be $38, because of the uncertainties in the price of oil.

According to him the Federal Executive Council is optimistic that Nigeria will be capable of producing at least 2.2 million barrels of oil per day. The FEC called it an expansionist budget which would be one trillion Naira more than that of 2015 and the Minister explained that the increase in the 2016 budget would be spent on capital projects because there is a need to address the infrastructure problems facing the nation.

The economy is doing badly. That's the sad truth. Many industries are being forced to close shop because they are being denied access to foreign exchange. The situation will only get worse if the government does not take proactive measures
Are you aware that the only solution to the issue you just raised is for the CBN to remove the forex restrictions and then officially devalue the naira from N197 to about N250?

And then we will scream again that Buhari has devalued the naira.

GEJ had a very competent team but are you aware this was the exact exchange rate (N251 to $1) when GEJ was handing over to PMB on May 29th 2015?

Are you also aware that the foreign reserve was lower than this $29bn when GEJ with his wonderful economic team handed over to PMB in May 29th?

GEJ and his wonderful economic team squandered Nigeria's resources in a wonderful way and Nigeria's economy was on a nosedive when they handed over to the new government. Since the new government took office, they have been struggling to wedge this downward trend with several policies such as the forex restrictions, that's why there seemed to be a little improvement in the 3rd quarter, but obviously, there's hardly anything that can be done about this dead economy. An official Naira devaluation (which the FG has been avoiding) may just be inevitable to save this mess).

Only a complete ignoramus would want to place the blame of this economic turmoil on the new government which inherited it in a worse state.
Politics › Re: FG Backtracks On December Deadline, Says Suicide Bombings May Continue by obailala(m): 10:31am On Dec 07, 2015
Anybody who thinks the suicide bombings will stop automatically must be high on cow dung. When terrorists are defeated, the leftovers of the group filters into civilian populace and they resort to attacking soft targets (markets, motor parks etc.) from time to time typically using suicide bombers.

No amount of military sophistication or leadership competence can stop this depressing phase of the war, if anyone doubts, go and ask the US and their coalition allies why we still hear of suicide bombings from time to time in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya etc. even when the war has been concluded long time ago.

Second thing I noticed from the recording is that the yoruba guy clearly did not support the things the alhaji was saying. Igbos need to define who the real enemy is because fighting everyone does not help anyone to wina battle.

excel234:
1. Map out a road plan for Igbos. We should not include south south in this plan except Igbos in those states who are willing to work with us. This road plan should first and foremost plan on how to make the region economically robust.

2. Desist from cursing other tribes or or acusing them as reasons for our troubles. It's better to build relationships than destroy what we have. It will lead us nowhere. Even if others speak evil of us, don't reply in like manner. Britain may have made the initial mistake, it's our duty to correct it.
These are my 2 greatest concerns in all these struggles. Most especially is the cardinal foundation of IPOB which is built on cursing and teaching people to HATE other tribes. If we say we are God's people, I really dont understand why the hating and constant cursing is even necessary. How does hating and cursing everyone (like a scorned 'fat' first wife) change our fortunes for the better?....

At a point when we should be building relationships and creating allies (even while the struggle continues), these guys are busy burning bridges. Even here on nairaland, I remember when barcanista and some south southerners opposed the biafran ideology (because of PH), it instantly turned into a dirty fight with some of the not-too-smart ipob nairaland crew labelling the SS as treacherous all because of the words of 1 barcanista and a few faceless people. How on earth can anyone possibly think a reasonable nation can be built on a hate filled mindset?

Then concerning economic prosperity, these people plan to create a new nation but not a single road map or plan has been made for economic sufficiency. Presently, 80% of the south eastern cashflow comes from outside, no plan has been made to remodel this. Rather the only economic plan that exists till date is that biafra will be eldorado the moment we no longer have yorubas and hausa and I keep wondering, who even advises these people?... For the ones that are educated, what kind of education did they have?

The predient who's gonna sign the bill into law is/would be the dictator.
You may hurriedly say "what if he doesn't sign it?" Well he has done it before and he'll have no problem doing it again.
So much for a changed person that he told us he is.
Lol... So you are actually predicting that he will sign it, hence you have concluded based on this assumption that since he is likely to sign it if it is passed by the NASS, then he is a dictator. Wonderful!

You blame the single man who would likely sign it of being a dictator, but you did not consider that the person who originated the bill and obviously, you did not also consider that the bill must have been agreed upon by a senate comprising of 108 senators from all localities of Nigeria.

SOme humans in my part of the world obviously have a very interesting way of reasoning. You hate the man called Buhari, dont be shy, just go ahead and say it instead of hiding under the cloak of objectivity to pass such funny judgements.

What is a dictatorship? ... I would have imagined that a dictatorship should be a one-man autocracy?.... but obviously, we have an evil bill being sponsored by a democratic parliament which has representatives from across the country.

Now I have just a simple question, if we say we are returning to a dictatorship, who is the dictator?

Obviously, it's always about politics. PDP inclined Igbos speak in favour of the agitations, APC inclined Igbos speak against the protests.

At the end, it's the masses that still suffer. Until we learn to channel the anger to the right opponent, until we learn to properly diagnose what the problem really is and attack the real problem, it will always be wasted energy.

N4.6 billion for Spiritual Purposes

Probably the money was used to hire native doctors, Imams, prophets, diviners, visionaries and wizard doctors from around the world to exorcise the demons out of the sons of boko and the daughters of haram. Or maybe, this could have been part of the 'alleged' N6billion which was paid to CAN under the blink-blink pastor for onward sharing to political pastors across Nigeria?

When will some of you just understand that it doesnt always have to be a PDP vs APC affair, it doesnt have to always be a pro-GEJ or anti-GEJ affair or pro-PMB or anti-PMB affair?

These guys who stole defence budgets directly led to the death of over 10 thousand Nigerians including gallant soldiers and civilians. FOr the first time in history, the ever agile Nigerian soldiers lost focus and courage and we continually heard of soldiers deserting, committing mutiny and going AWOL. Now the allegations raised by the soldiers that they were never armed is being unravelled to be true, the billions of dollars meant for arming the soldiers is now being revealed to have been shared by evil men (from all tribes and regions). But still, all you can think about is Amaechi or GEJ and PDP vs APC?

How I wish you were from the NE and your entire village was wiped out, would you have towed this line of reasoning?
Politics › Re: Oshiomhole Fires Back At Okonjo-Iweala "You Should Be Ashamed..." by obailala(m): 9:13am On Dec 04, 2015
Something I have noticed from this thread, and every other thread concerning Oshiomole vs NOI is that, not a single person who is supporting NOI has bothered to attend to the issues raised by Oshiomole. The response has overwhelmingly been focused on throwing insults. This is definitely a fundamental problem with the black man, we are mentally incapable of dealing with issues.

Oshiomole might be a bad governor, or he may have some personal beef with NOI, but that does not negate the fact that he has raised some personal questions which every Nigerian should be bothered about.

In my opinion, I strongly believe NOI is a top notch professional in her field so there is absolutely no way she would have been ignorant of the barage of theft and diversion of funds which prevailed under her nose. She was aware but was powerless to do anything about it because of the kind of boss she had. Any careful observer will notice that NOI has never for once answered any of the questions by Oshio, instead she always dodges the questions and questions the motives behind the questions. She is obviously trying to protect some powerful people.

Check the foundation of Nigeria, thats why I say that getting Igbo presidency wont change a dine, it will only give us the chance to follow the queue of failed regions after presidency...

Wanna know why South East is agitating for Biafra?

Our so called leaders are doing nothing and I mean absolutely nothing, they only go to Abuja to collect the silly allocation and with even the little they have, they go ahead and diverts it to their personal pus and live the masses in shallow mess and no one can dare protest against them...

The only reason they're afraid of Biafra like its actualization is bringing forte their death warrants is because in Biafra the masses can easily revolt against bad governance while you can't peacefully do that without getting live bullets in Nigeria so with this I tell you that every leader from south east is programmed to favour the central government not their subjects... do otherwise and have your arse to flame with falsified accusation to see to your downfall!!!
The bold part of your statement is the exact part where the simple-mindedness of the IPOB agitators completely marvels me. No offence intended but, what kind of weed did you guys smoke or what kind of intensive course in brainwashing did you guys undergo?... How can adults just wake up and start living or reasoning in a fairly tale utopian mindset to think that everything will become perfect automatically when we change our name to biafra?

The policemen or soldiers who release those live bullets you talk about, are there not lots of Igbos/Biafrans within their ranks?... Have Igbos not at some point been the IG of police and the chief of army staff and the cheif of defense staff?... Did Igbos occupying these positions stop the men of the force from brutalising civilians and killing the innocent randomly?.... I have heard and read times without number, the brainwashing propaganda materials by IPOB where they repeatedly kept referring to trigger happy policemen and soldiers as 'Hausa-Fulani police and soldiers.' For you to believe that farce, are you suggesting that the Igbo police officers for example are well behaved unlike the officers from other tribes?....

Why on earth have you allowed yourself to be deceived that the moment we change our name to Biafra, the trigger happy Igbo men we have in the police, army, etc will automatically turn to saints?.... If you have suggestions on what we can do to make our police force more humane when/if we get Biafra, why cant those suggestions be made now to tame the men in the security outfits presently stationed in the SE?

Same goes for Igbo leaders, if you agree with me that Igbo leaders are the biggest problem of Igbos, and you also believe that if we get Biafra, we can install more reasonable leaders, why cant those proposed strategies be used this day to enthrone better Igbo leaders even before we step out into Biafra?

Thank You!
