This is one of the reasons you all will remain slaves to low life crooks and criminals, and die miserably in Nigeria! Soon some hungry attention seeking urchin will roll out congratulations for the new FX billionaires! God bless u for speaking the truth. I can never honour those criminals. I pray for the day when we, the masses, shall be strong enough to rise up and start a very bloody revolution wipe these criminals off the face of the earth. |

MadCow1: Let me see if I understand you..
Solar Panel Tracking system would be a tracker that would automatically turn the Solar Panels in the direction of the sun abi? Is that correct?
Let me elaborate my initial question..
When I see Solar Panels being installed, they are not flat but inclined at an angle and at a coordinate (Angel, degree) to the Sun's Rise, Set and fall path.. They say its done so to harness the maximum energy from the Sun.
Now this Keke's solar panels are lying flat on the roof. The Keke would be mobile so may most times be out of direct range of the Sun in such a way that the energy it would be getting from the Sun wouldn't be optimal.
My Question is how did the inventors compensate/account for this..
Thanks. I owe u three bottles of origin for this piece of common sense. I dont know why we enjoy promoting mediocrity in this country. THAT KEKE IS NOT SOLAR POWERED. |

CSTR2: We currently don't know the wattage rating of those panels to make conclusive inferences. It could be a specially designed ones for cars. Afterall we already have solar-powered cars, wind-mills, referigerators e.t.c. And all those requires enormous amount of energy. well, I rest my case. believe what u wish. I will maintain my doubts. Just know that solar cars (for now) are designed to be extremely light weight:- (carries only one person most times). fridges on the other hand are very different. there are DC fridges that operate with less than 100watts |

"Maybe" you said? did u hear the normal sound ANY IC (or compression in the case of diesel and gas) engine is bound to make? am not saying this is not possible ooo. am just saying that the technology is not very stable yet. Biogas contains sulphur which is very corrosive. this makes it very unsuitable for use in regular IC engines. A regular IC engine will not last 6 months, running on biogas |

CSTR2: The sensitivity and efficiency of the solar panel is the main criteria here not size. Size though used to be a main determinant has been rendered redundant due to highly sensitive and efficient semi-conductor technology. Given the set of dignitaries clowning around there, i am sure they won't congregate there if it was a lie. @the bolded, u really dont know the length which this APC govt will go to in order to sustain a propaganda. talking about sensitivity, note that the wattage rating of solar panels is usually based on the highest level of sensitivity and efficiency in power generation which that panel possibly deliver. most panels rated at 300watts will give u about 70% of that wattage most of the time. |

Try magnetically induce motors or something ! That's worth my FP who can prove that it is really solar powered? we shud stop falling for cheap scams in this country. Look at the size of that keke. look at all the iron that was used to build it. Imagine the weight. Imagine the horsepower (at least 5hp) that will be required to move something with that weight. now compare it with the size of the solar panels mounted on the roof. do u think such panels can generate 5hp (about 6kw)? dont forget that we are even yet to see a solar panel rated above 500watts |

oladiran2: @Willie2015 you are not talking like a business man at all. What makes you different from those taking produce to shoprites. Have you even seen where farm harvest have been off loaded at shop rite then you will know that no amount of farmers we have now can still satisfy their demand as long as your harvest is big like those pictures and has good quality. you can't attain quality with open field and you can't get a good market so it's vice versa. So many things can be done to agric produce not to think of exportation and all still come back to quality. They won't cut off your head for walking in there with a sample from your farm and make inquiry nd satisfy whatever they will require from you to be supplying them. The time we are now, agriculture is not just about a mere farming but business as well. You have to incorporate your farming sense to the business one to be successful. Secondly who in this south side of the country and will tell you he or she is growing tomatoes for commercial purpose on open field if he doesn't want to die before his time with debt from bacteria wilt and blight?? That can only be done in the north and they still have issue even with the intensity of their sun. Am sure you were aware about what happened last season with the tuta absoluta which even gave room for more thinking with the need of the importance of a green house. I agree it's expensive but it is a necessity except you are not seeing agric as a business in the world we are today. It's going to be just like an investment. Even if you won't need it, you will even see who to buy back as soon as possible again from you when you get tired of agric which am certain you can't even do. u have not answered my question. Can I get that screen cover alone for an affordable price in Nigeria? I will like to build my greenhouse myself cos I don't have 2m to dash Oyibo |

Agriculture › Re: Green House Agronomist by obstead200(m): 8:00am On Aug 30, 2016 |
Willie2015: In rainy season, you will be competing with farmers that are working in Open Field. The four baskets of tomatoes you attached with your comments cant go for more than =N=1,500.00 during rainy season. In dry season, you will still be competing with modern farmers that are in the Open Field that can afford irrigation kits with good water source and can deliver volume to consumers at affordable prices without incurring much capital expenses. You still have to provide for middlemen commission/transport cost in the final analysis.
Usage of green house is cool and desirable, but if you dont have the likes of Shoprites that pays per kilo in your books, I dont see how a farmer can cover his cost even with 2-3 yrs continuous growing. The best bet is to go on open field and have few green house to take of fragile veg. At the bolded; if I have an asset that will last 10yrs for me, then as long as my business remains a going concern, as long as I have cash flow to keep me operational and as long as I have no debts that mounts pressure on my cash flow, then I don't mind waiting 5 years to break even. Speaking as an accountant. |

But I can't afford to pay 2m. I will prefer to construct mine locally. But what I need is that screen cover. Where can we get it at affordable prices in Nigeria? I know I can't use ordinary plastic cover because the winds, sun and rains will destroy it within one planting season. What I need is that UV treated screen cover. |

Pavore9: Nice one. I did an experiment on how long cucumber could last after harvest, so l bought one that was very fresh and no cut on it on the 23rd day of December 2015 then had it placed on the counter top of my kitchen with a room temperature of about 18 degrees.
I finally ate it on the 31st of March, 2016 and the taste was okay.
I suggest farmers to be careful when harvesting to avoid cuts on the cucumber, so one will not be forced to sell off and lower price. I am doing such experiment too. I think it also depends on when it is harvested. Those harvested at full maturity (when the flowers have fallen off) tend to last longer |

Remember the geological survey I mentioned earlier? Well, the result said I would need to dig 80-90m. From what I've learned so far, borehole drillers in Ibadan typically charge N5K per meter.
Let me do the math for you.
N5,000 × 90m = N450,000.
