You've almost nailed a job and then the interviewer placed on your table a white paper containing the following...

Legend has it that the inventor of the game called chess was told to name his own reward. His reply was along this lines.

Imagine a chess board.

Suppose one grain of corn is placed on the first square.
2 grains on the second
4 grains on the third,
8 grains on the fourth,

and so on until you get to the 64th square.

I would like as many grains of corn as the chess board now carries.

We were given just 5 minutes to do this... angry
use geometric progression to solve it. also apply the formula used to find the sum of the series in a geometric progression.
dont have these formulas by heart but if i do, the maths is pretty simple.

There is no such thing as an African car, except you re talking of donkeys and horses.

The so called innonsense cars you see are CKDs (Completely Knocked Down) components that are imported from China and assembled in Nigeria.

There is no local component in these cars, every thing is shipped from abroad.

Anytime your buy that Innonsense, know that you re enriching the economy of another country.

We already know that most of the parts are imported.
but trust me, a good number of the parts (especially the rubber components) are manufactured here.

I am not satisfied. I guess it is partially my fault; I messed up with their feeding at some point...I wasn't feeding them enough. I don't have a scale, but from past experience, the two I took their pics together feel like they are about 1.8kg. I feel they can get to 2.2 kg by the 14 week...but I am not sure they will get to 2.5kg.
Were u using commercial feed?
How exactly did u mess up with their feeding?
So are u gonna try noilers again or will u go back to cockrels like u said?

Bro, I have been following your noilers threads for some time now.
Generally, at 11 weeks, what is ur experience? Are u satisfied with the performance? Did it meet ur expectations? Cos from where am standing, looking at the pictures, I really can't tell. Pictures can be confusing when it comes to birds.
Can u try weighing some birds? Do u hope to get 2.5kg at 14weeks?

That is my key challenge in this dry season farming. I am still reviewing options.
What style of irrigation do u plan to adopt? And what is ur projected cost for setting up the irrigation, assuming u already have a tank and a water source

Most people reading this thread are either job seekers or people looking for better jobs. Your story would have helped them if u could be more specific by explaining why u lost 2 jobs in a year and what u did right to get this present job. One will need to be a complete compound fool, an imbeciile, and a complete mor0n to believe Nigeria, especially under PMb could contribute $500,000,000 towards Hillary Clinton's campaign in America.

Those who believe that story for a second obviously suffer from one of the conditions stated above.

And to even know that the total amount garnered by the Clinton's Campain was less than $600mn makes it ridiculous to claim or insinuate that Nigeria was responsible for $500Mn of it.

with good planning and breeding in batches, if he has the space, he can still do noilers very comfortably and get 1000 birds every month.

lol! Funny.

And about power issues, I am looking for a way around it right now.
pls when u find a way around it, do let me know.
u can partner with slaughter houses (abattoir) they always have cold rooms.
U can also partner with large coldroom operators to help u sell or to store ur chicken in their cold room for a fee.
Finally u can seek out a couple of other guys needing cold room services and u guys can come together to build one and share the operation costs.

AgricultureRe: I Need Advice On Starting A Frozen Chicken Business by obstead200(m): 7:25pm On Nov 12, 2016
kayo80:
Hello good people of the Agric section of Nairaland. I need some advice on the next step in my chicken business. I want to go into sale of frozen chicken, but not the imported ones...I am going to be killing the chickens myself, and freezing them. I plan to do this with Noilers in their thousands. Noilers tend to be more fleshy than Cockrels, and tastier than broilers, so that is why I am going with Noilers. I plan to raise at least 2 thousand Noilers a month, and then start another 2 months the next month, and then continue that way. So that, every single month, I will have 2 thousand Noilers to sell as frozen chicken.

I plan to get a lister generator that can carry at least 4 deep freezers. Each deep freezer would contain at least 25 or more frozen chicken. The cost of raising a single Noiler from day old to maturity is 800 Naira (my own experience). I have not made up my mind on how much I would be selling the whole frozen chicken yet, but I am sure there is a lot of profit to be made here. Please, I need some input from experts.
Bro, u are inside my head from A to Z. Noilers and all inclusive.
I will sue u for stealing my idea cheesy grin

Anyway, it is a wonderful plan. My only reservation is power. I heard that most generators can't really freeze ur produce. It can only help retain its frozen state when PHCN power freezes it. If at all it will freeze, it will take about 24 hrs of constant running to freeze it completely.
My brother, diesel is N200 a litre. I have a diesel generator in my house. To run it for 12 hours a day, I use up not less than 10litres.
Before u realise it, if phcn decides to be their default setting, ur N800 per bird cost of production will become N1400 per bird.
I will suggest that, if u live in the north or areas with lots of sunshine, consider investing in DC freezers and solar power.
All said, the business is good if u can overcome the problem of power. Generators don't just cut it. At least not for 1000birds a month turnover.

AgricultureRe: Why Is Imported Frozen Chicken Cheaper Than Live Chicken In Nigeria? by obstead200(m): 7:11pm On Nov 12, 2016
kayo80:
Hmm! I find this hard to believe. I have spoken to many people about this, and get the same answer- people don't buy live chicken all year round. Please tell me one location in Nigeria where people buy live chicken all year round.
In owerri, every Saturday and Sunday, the chicken area is full of people buying and slaughtering chickens.
Of course as a seller, u won't make as much profit as u may make during festive periods, but u will definitely sell. These days, it seems pple tend to prefer live chicken cos of the videos going viral about frozen (imported) chicken. The only pple who buy frozen chicken are those who are using it for wedding and catering services (naija sense)
AgricultureRe: Why Is Imported Frozen Chicken Cheaper Than Live Chicken In Nigeria? by obstead200(m): 7:03pm On Nov 12, 2016
frisky2good:
Stop saying what you don't know. Tell me the chemical that makes chicken cheaper to raise. If you have ever seen the stress it takes to inject growth hormones in animals, you will realize it is not possible to carry out such a project on chicken. As for genetically modified chicken, are broilers not genetically modified? That is the exact meat producing chicken raised everywhere in the world including Nigeria. What makes theirs cheaper is access to very low interest and easy loans. Give a lot of farmers on nairaland 1 million Naira loan at 2% interest rate and watch the price of chicken fall within 6 months.
at the bolded,
It is not all about money.
Give someone like u 1billion naira at zero interest to start a poultry farm and u will still not make headway.
It is about technology. It is about infrastructure (constant power supply) It is about economics of scale in production. Most of these farmers abroad grow their own feed using improved seeds that can yield 10tons per hectare and above. This drastically reduces feeding costs.
When u take care of feed cost, the remaining cost of raising a bird is not up to 5% if u have good mgmt practices.
NB: growing corn and soya requires land, good technology, irrigation and good seed.
But land is key. Enough land to grow soya and maize beyond the quantity requires for human consumption.

My dear, those lesions can never be molluscum contagiosum. I must say that I am rather surprised it was even considered as a differential diagnosis. Again @op, wait for the dermatologist. If you had come to me, that will be my advice. Those lesions don't look like it is of an infectious origin. An experienced dermatologist can make the Diagnosis just by inspection only.
