BusinessRe: Why Dangote’s Failed Paste Factory Should Give Buhari More Headache Than Dangote by Oduok(m): 2:28pm On Aug 30, 2017
I don't know why Bloomberg didn't see this while designing the plant for Dangote. I did a similar design in 2015 and this was my finding: taking a production capacity of 360,000 tons of tomato paste annually as a basis. Material balance revealed that 2,477,100 tons of raw tomato is required. (Raw tomato is 7 degree Brix while tomato paste is 30 degree Brix). Market survey revealed that a ton of raw tomato in the local market was 350 dollars while a ton of tomato paste was 1,300 dollars. Ignoring every other costs, annual cost of raw material for the plant was 866,974,500 dollars whereas annual income from sales of tomato paste was 702,000,000 dollars. I concluded and reported that the plant was technically sound but lacked economic viability. My recommendations were: 1. Government should intervene and subsidize the production cost of tomato for farmers who would sell the raw material to processors at subsidized rate. 2. The plant should consider producing other products like lycopene from the waste. 3. The plant should employ pinch technology to recover heat from the three effect evaporator for use in other units like sterilization and preheating.

FashionHelp!!! A Serious Attack On Our "White" Sisters Looms by Oduok(op): 7:12pm On Aug 25, 2017
This August 2017, Ghanaian Food and Drug Administration has placed a ban on all bleaching creams containing hydroquinone, citing the potential health risks they pose to those who use them. Ivory Coast did same in 2015 while 2006 was the turn of USA. Currently, Nigerian Association of Dermatologists has begun a process with the lawmakers to ban the use of these products. Brethren, what do we do to protect our "white" sisters before they disappear like dinosaurs? I think someone mentioned Carica papaya extract as an alternative. Let's promote bio-diversification.

CrimeCriminals Look Innocent Before And After An Operation by Oduok(op): 6:10pm On Aug 22, 2017
Oftentimes when I look up crime reports on newspapers expecting to see heavy body criminals, I would only see average bodied, young, and innocent looking suspects. I would be wondering are these the ones that have been causing terrors? Strange but true. Those innocent looking friends you keep; Those Godly looking church members that visit your house; Those hungry looking dudes that appear stranded carrying phones and laptops begging you to buy at any amount; may actually be the big boys with guns that everyone obeys when the enter a house at nights. Please be watchful.
PoliticsRe: Engineer Refutes Hon. Amaechi's Statement On Railway by Oduok(m): 1:55pm On Aug 22, 2017
munas:
Did you just hear yourself?
Repair a car engine?
Thats not the job of a professor of engineering anywhere in the world.Even in harvard..,,or cambrige...its not done.

Mechanical engineers’ job is about design, analysis, and manufacturing cars, and many other mechanical systems : while its the job of the mechanics to find faults and repair cars
Tell me that he can do it/he has done it. But would not love to do it because he is above that. But telling me he cannot do it because it's not his job, I don't see the logic there. When lazy Nigerian Engineers tell you their work is to design and not repair, they lack knowledge of what it takes to design. For someone that designs, building and repairing that equipment is very simple for you. You are not designing if you can't build, at least the prototype. What Nigerian Engineers call design is at best, calculation, drawing, and simulation. Try to build or supervisor the building of the so-called design, then you will be shocked that you never did any Engineering work there.
PoliticsRe: Engineer Refutes Hon. Amaechi's Statement On Railway by Oduok(m): 1:02pm On Aug 22, 2017
When I see comments like the one Amaechi made about Nigerian Engineers it makes me work hard to prove a point. When Akwa Ibom State government will be ready for the coconut oil plant/refinery I would ensure they don't look for expartriates. Before then I would present my prototype, not just the simulation and solid model. Odfid is working towards measuring up with names like Buhler, Blomberg etc. (This is not a dream. I'm on it already).
PoliticsRe: Engineer Refutes Hon. Amaechi's Statement On Railway by Oduok(m): 12:33pm On Aug 22, 2017
munas:
I dont think you know what engineering is all about.
You that knows what Engineering is all about; That a Professor of Engineering cannot repair a car engine is normal? That means he cannot design and build one from scratch. Any young Engineer in this country that rants rather than rising to the challenge is living in self deceit.
EducationRe: JAMB Introduces Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) For 2017/18 Admission by Oduok(m): 12:12pm On Aug 22, 2017
How could you propose skill acquisition as substitute for education? You think developed countries attained their height by skill acquisition? They are using 'skill full' education.

And those that contributes about laundary, soapmaking etc are doing a great work to give youths direction.
CareerRe: Dear Graduates, What Are Your Future Plans? by Oduok(m): 8:36pm On Aug 17, 2017
Five years is not long. So no big plans. In five years time I see the following happening: 1. My firm, Odfid Technical Services, will grow and have wide clientele that enjoys my environmental services, safety services, design of products, equipment, and design of process plants. The firm would have gotten two of its house care and personal care products registered with NAFDAC and with this I would be able to do COREN registration. 2. My center, Odfid Science Centre, would have gotten state-of-the-art equipment/tools to model high school kids in sciences - preparing them for a career in engineering, medicine, and other science professions. The centre would have produced high profile candidates that can serve as reference. 3. I would have been married with two kids - first a girl and second a boy. In summary, in five years time, nairalanders would make use of my products and sought my professional services and their children will be groomed in my science center.

Foreign AffairsRe: John Paul Mwirigi, Kenya’s Youngest Member Of Parliament by Oduok(m): 9:48pm On Aug 10, 2017
The solution to Nigeria's political situation is not about reducing of age but reducing of greed. How many young people would support a fellow youth with vision at the expense of running after policitians that have stolen enormous fortune. When the youths of Nigeria are ready the elders will know and give way. For now let's continue to be their house boys -aides.
NYSCRe: I Need Advice On What To Do With My N300k Savings From Allaweee by Oduok(m): 9:59pm On Aug 09, 2017
Someone that asks what business to put money in is likely not going to succeed in business. Business idea if not spontaneously generated will lack the drive to witstand 'storms'. My advice: leave the money until you have a drive towards a business. Until you have a spark of that burning idea to venture into something. Continue with what you were doing to save this much. Calling 300k saving from NYSC is deceptive though. You actually saved from somewhere else. The net balance of NYSC allowance can't give you upto 50k savings - stop deceiving the gullible. You must be from a financially stable home, I guess and lots of other sources of income at your disposal. So continue raising money from those sources. When a business idea finally comes, make it a somehow big. Target a scale of 2million naira business, raise 1million and source for funding for the remaining 1million. Never enter any business in this your present state. 300k in your hand now is so volatile. You will lose it faster than you raised it. A lot of people will give you business ideas showing you only the benefits but not the risks. So be wise.
RomanceRe: Is Getting Married At 35 Late For Men? by Oduok(m):
Look around you. A very great percentage of Nigerian men marry as a result of poverty. Since they hardly achieve anything they marry on credit and later flaunt the kids as a status of achievement. Later they wait to reap the fruit of their labour from the kids that struggle to meet daily needs. Poverty is the factor that increases the rate of marriages and child birth in Nigeria. When you are busy, engaging your mind in gainful activities you would not have time to count your mariageable age. You would get married when you feel like or want to.
CareerRe: Chemical Engineering Graduate Sells Smoked Catfish - Pictures by Oduok(m): 7:56pm On Aug 08, 2017
freshest4live:
What if l tell you the way she sells her fish and the way she packaged it is evidence of knowledge in a branch of chemical engineering, food technology(500 level) and Entrepreneurship in process Engineering(400 level).
With a higher capital, she can combine this with chemical reaction kinetics to help her preserve food, and chemical engineering deals with process optimization and Bioprocessing that allows for large tonnes per annum.
Food Processing is an elective in Chemical Engineering, though l didn't take it.
Chemical engineering is not all about oil, it's anything that has to do with conversion of raw materials and mass production in an optimal way, just that in Nigeria it has been regulated to just a small part of its' make up(oil and gas).
I can sight a very intelligent chemical engineer. Which school did you finish from?
