I thank God for the University of Ilorin and some other schools in Nigeria (if they exist though) that have maintain their stance of "No Honorary Doctorate". Be it Jonathan, Obama, Ban Ki-Moon, UNILORIN will never give you any "honorary" doctorate and the message being signalled is clear - you need a Ph.D., enrol and work to get one. We are not here to lick your silly ass.

What pleasure/ego/joy does it bring to UNIPORT for having Madam Umblella on its alumni list if the honorary degree is not bought as some folks speculated here?

This development may be a disgrace to those who work to get their PhD because of the same title "Dr" they go with but nevertheless, there is a wide gulf of knowledge between both parties.

The only place where this is possible is the uni where you see each other everyday and develop something like an educational relationship - tutorials, extramural, group discussion, and their likes.

Kudos to BRF.

This is an old news. I created a thread for this same story on the Religion Section almost two weeks now and Seun could not put it on the Front Page. There seems to be SELECTIVE preference by Seun on what topic and from who that will make Home page. I have been watching Seun on this line for sometime now. When you meet people who are higher that you, accord them the respect they deserve. People are excited because they see their own mingling with those who pass them (money, fame, success, etc.). Do you realise how much these people (Jay Z and his likes) make daily from album sales, online downloads, royalties, shows, etc? In how many countries are the listening to Jay Z music? What of D Banj?

An understanding of the questions below will help alot.

How many people have time to analyze news when reading it? The OP may know next to nothing on this issue (IPv4 & IPv6) and might have posted this in good faith out of curiousity. What gets on the homepage is determined by the mods and they should be the one to weigh news before putting it on the homepage. PUNCH makes the topic so assertive and affirmative to make more sales. If you see this topic on the frontpage of a newspaper, I'm sure you will be interested in reading it.

For those who think Nigerians are the one suing, no they are not. All the 22,000 winners that were previously selected are the one suing. The group had small chance of entering the US even if they won the case. The State Department categorically states that your selection does not guarantee you a visa because there are so many steps after selection before the visa.

I beg to disagree with the bolded. Your selection does not guarantee you a visa. Resigning your job and selling your property is a negligence on your part and the State Department cannot be liable for that. Even if they won the case, your last two sentences can still hold which makes it a lose-lose situation for the group.
