Logicboy03: visit here;r/atheism is probably too strong of a medicine for religious people in Nigeria. You want to cure the patient, not kill him! ![]() And kudos for the religious imagery...sometimes you have to use their own stories to help them understand where you are coming from. |
musKeeto: O...I studied the Bible also and came to the same conclusion as you, but now living in a Muslim country I battle more with Muslims than Christians so I had to do some research there as well...reading the Quran and studying the life of Muhammad will also make you an atheist.... |
omo_to_dun: LogicBoy3 and muskeeto have assaulted the theists on this section so bad that they are always petrified of replying. One day, we shall be free of this scam called religion.Am also happy to see their infinite patience in coming here so regularly. Me I need rest small....can't do this everyday.... |
Virgin Finder: You seem irredeemable. The irony of asking a god to have mercy on us when he is the one who has 'hardened our hearts'. And you say the atheists are being held in bondage. |
ooman: Well, it depends on how you define "obeying God". However, i am becoming an activist against God (and he is not my creator, i wasnt created, i was born, my ancestor evolved from erectus and that goes on till we get to inorganic chemicals) because God worship kills my people. It (God) gets them deranged and makes them complacent.ooman you are really going full force today! Why the sudden urge to debate religious people, may I ask? (I agree with you, keep up the good work!) |
Revolva: Do you know you are the greatest idiot on earth for posting this here...ok instead of you to be tolerant and see life in different spectra you choose to be on one path ..now ask your self what if one day you find out all what you be wishing as a christian are not real you go commit suicide..it does not mean one is an athiest the person is a bad person-- abi aint there rapist, conmen, decietful selfish people who are very religious...so now you judge dem by saying God will strike dem and throw in hell..have you been there ? How do you know that place exist..what is the colour of the flamez..mumu no heaven or hell..its all here on earth...not after death...person don die don dieI was actually being sarcastic in saying that God is all-loving and yet sends people to hell to burn forever. I'm an atheist and I agree with you: I do not believe in heaven or hell either. ![]() |
wiegraf: You assume self preservation is the only goal one could have, it isn't. Once it's not, the other options become logical.I'm pretty familiar with the arguments but I just don't agree with them. I do agree that much of what we do is driven by emotion, more than we could imagine (high road/low road brain systems, etc). |
musKeeto: That's not the bone of contention here.Probably because the soldier was saving lives while the bomber was attempting to end lives, in an immediate sense. However if the suicide bomber's actions result in some other lives in the future being saved then ?? However, in a strictly individual sense, both seem illogical to me.And being off topic is fine sometimes; sometimes it opens up other lines of thought |
Logicboy03: You must be kidding If I throw a grenade under a table wher you nd 3 pals are drinking beer, you four guys will all die. none of you wilol have legs for sureDepends on the path of the shrapnel. Death or amputation is not guaranteed. |
Logicboy03: Another conundrum- what if he was the first to realise it or the quickest to the grenade? What if he wanted to die as a hero? What if someone had sacrificed his life for him earlier?I also do not like the idea of a purely 'survival of the fittest' morality, however, to me, engaging in a heroic action which virtually guarantees your death is pointless. I don't mind being a hero but I'd much prefer to be a living hero than a dead one, which means I could see myself taking deadly risks to be 'heroic', but not one in which I have an overwhelming chance of dying. |
Logicboy03: Wrong.Or he could jump behind one of his friends and let his friend take the impact. Not very nice, but logical. Or the grenade isn't strong enough to kill anyone except someone who is right on top of it. A grenade attack does not have a binary outcome. |
ooman: I seek the betterment of my race as a whole, how is that illogical, emotional and how is that not self preservation. If my race die of hunger, how can i survive? If Africa remains undeveloped and poor, no matter how rich i am, i am poor. But if you aren't there to benefit from it, then what would be the point of doing that? I see what you are saying, but I can't say I really accept that as being logical only because, in my view, I do not benefit by killing myself. I am gone, out of existence. |
Like ooman, I'm an atheist as well and so I see no use for this, however, according to Christian doctrine, anyone who has faith in Jesus and believes that he died for the sins of mankind is saved, regardless of what kinds of sins those are. So the homosexual, like any other sinner, who accepts Jesus will be saved. |
wiegraf: It can be, easily. Your life in exchange for that of loved ones. That might be the only circumstance in which preservation your children (your DNA) would be a logical reason to do something which you know will result in your death. Every other reason is either emotional or illogical, in my opinion. |
musKeeto: The answer to that question lies in what motivates a soldier to throw himself on a grenade. That does not make it logical. Noble, but not logical. Self preservation should be the most rational position, I would argue, unless you act to protect your children to preserve the continuity of your DNA. |
musKeeto: Are you saying reason and logic can't lead one to commit atrocities or crime?I agree that crimes can be committed with some logic behind them, but the 9/11 plotters were not logical because at the end they died in a fiery crash of their own creation. How is suicide the result of logical and rational thinking? |
I will pray for all of you atheists. Otherwise, my all-merciful, all-loving, and benevolent God will strike you down and burn you forever and ever and ever in the hottest fires of hell if you don't find blind faith in one of his religions. |
Acidosis: Gosh! I hate this section!Maybe because we believe that religion can be a very destructive force and that for many people, religion is a matter of brainwashing. We are just trying to bring in alternate viewpoints. Sometimes that requires repeated effort to get people to challenge their own deeply-held, unthinking beliefs. If more people took a step back from their own religion and looked at how other people practice (or choose not to) then maybe there would be fewer religions problems in the world. And, yes, I can accept the title 'enemy of God'. It actually has a nice ring to it, and many great people have carried that title as well. I'm in good company. |
inspiredbyGOD:.:Speaking as an atheist, I'd say that in order to receive understanding from the Holy Spirit you will have to stop thinking and just believe blindly. Just as the ancient Greeks believed they could contact their gods and the Hindus believe they can contact theirs; their gods were very real to them. People who believe in ghosts see them, people who do not believe in ghosts do not see them. It is all a product of your mind. |
The posts made by the OP read like something you'd find in an Abnormal Psychology textbook as a case study in disorganized thinking. |
advocate666: Ol boy, you are on your own o! If things start happening to you no talk say na advocate push you to worship Satan. Satan is powerful o! Don't play with it.But bad things have already started to happen since I accepted Satan as my Lord!: My coffee is now cold and it's a long way to the kitchen to get more! The internet is slower than usual! The maid came into the room and started vaccuuming the floor, irritating me! I misplaced one of my pens! What have I gotten myself into!? |
advocate666: Then say this: "I accept Satan as my personal Lord and Saviour"I accept Satan as my personal Lord and Savior. What is supposed to happen next? |
advocate666: Are you an atheist?Indeed I am an atheist. |
olaade21: "And never give up hope of Allah's soothing Mercy: Truly no one despairs of Allah's soothing Mercy except those who have no faith." (12:87)And I hope you discover that your religion is nothing but fiction. Amine! |
olaade21: THIS IS A SIMPLE ANSWER TO YOU THOUGH I HAVE THOUSANDS.Go back and look through what I just posted and you will see the violence in the Quran. In any case, to you Muslims the Bible and Quran supposedly come from the same god so whatever happens in the Old Testament is the result of the god of the Quran also. I am not a Christian. Both the Bible and Quran belong in the library under the 'mythology' section. You can go and look through my history and see all the criticisms I have made against Christianity. However, I am not neutral, I am against both religions. |
advocate666: Who told you he were false? Then bring proof of his existence. |
Quran (2:216) - "Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not." Quran (3:56) - "As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter, nor will they have anyone to help." But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks." Quran (4:104) - "And be not weak hearted in pursuit of the enemy; if you suffer pain, then surely they (too) suffer pain as you suffer pain..." Quran (5:33) - "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement" Quran (8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them" Quran (8:39) - "And fight with them until there is no more fitna (disorder, unbelief) and religion should be only for Allah" Quran (9:5) - "So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captive and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them." Quran (9:29) - "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued." Quran (9:30) - "And the Jews say: Ezra is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!" Accursed, they will be seized wherever found and slain with a (fierce) slaughter." Quran (48:29) - "Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. And those with him are hard (ruthless) against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves" Hadith: Bukhari (52:177) - Allah's Apostle said, "The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him." Bukhari (52:256) - The Prophet... was asked whether it was permissible to attack the pagan warriors at night with the probability of exposing their women and children to danger. The Prophet replied, "They (i.e. women and children) are from them (i.e. pagans)." Muslim (1:33) - the Messenger of Allah said: I have been commanded to fight against people till they testify that there is no god but Allah, that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah Have you had enough? Run far away from this god. He is evil. |
olaade21: LOL,ARE YOU DENYING THE OLD TESTAMENT.WELL READ MORE ON THE QURAN AND YOU WILL SEE THE MERCY IT BESTOWS.YOU NEED TO STUDY MORE.Lol, I'm not a Christian. I'm an Atheist. Anyway, The Quran is the most menacing, threatening book I've ever read. Allah/Yahweh is a cruel and violent god who deserves to be cursed every day. |
You quote all these horrible passages from the Old Testament of Bible while ignoring the horrible passages found in the Quran. At least be objective. Obviously, both books are fiction. Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad were not prophets, they borrowed from existing religions and then edited them to fit their own narrative. Very simple, for anyone who really takes the time to study the origins and histories of these books. |
You should warn people that this works only if they believe it. For those who do not believe, it has zero effect on you. Like religion and any other superstition. |
justaqad: ignorance is a disease.Quran 18:86 "Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it set in a spring of murky water: near it he found a people: We said: "O Zul-qarnain! (thou hast authority), either to punish them, or to treat them with kindness." The sun does not set into a spring with a people nearby! The setting of the sun is due to the earth's rotation!! Muhammad thought the sun went into the earth.... |
Donalð Genes: Where can I see the chapter pls?Isaiah 45:1-3 "45 Thus saith the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut; 2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron: 3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel" |

?? However, in a strictly individual sense, both seem illogical to me.
