Like plaetton said. If dark matter's existence can be inferred from scientifically reproducible experiments using basic principles of physics then yes I believe it. Why do you ask, is that God right there in the dark matter? |
OK that's it, I'm convinced. I'm ready to get on my knees before Jesus and service Him. |

A 'strong atheist' believes that there is logical proof that God does not exist--they are 100% certain. A 'weak atheist' usually called an 'agnostic atheist', believes that until proof of a god can be demonstrated, they believe that God does not exist but admit that it is possible--in other words God has a less than 50% chance of existing in their view. An agnostic believes that God has a 50/50 chance of existing. I am an agnostic atheist. If God were to appear before me and demonstrate some amazing feat that clearly breaks the laws of physics/reality, and I'm sure I'm not hallucinating, and I have other atheist friends report that they saw the same thing, then I would believe. But don't hand me a book of dusty old stories and say the proof is in there. |
joe4christ: I only wished u would be patient enough to read it all, if only you would, only then would u have the moral ground to draw conclusions.I actually read the Pilgrims Progress when I was in school. I swore I'd never read anything by John Bunyan again. |
flashdrive: Giving us outline, summary, caption anytin small wl be appreciate. It's about some guy in the 1600's in England who hallucinates but he can't make his hallucinations go away because there was no medicine in those days to treat it so he starts writing a lot of rubbish about angels and devils. I only read one part of it, and, as they say, you don't have to eat the whole apple to know it's rotten. |
mkmyers45: Keep evading...I put it to you that God in material form is Pure Primordial Energy manifest in all things...Now Logically God must be eternal and all-powerful so also the manifest. I put it to you that you can never dispute the fact that is material evidence as only the infinite eternity of energy would have brought about the universe and the fact that there is no space devoid of energy..Then everything that happens as a result of energy, murder, rape, sodomy, robbery, is all just God doing his thing? What an evil creature. |
Go for the boring atheist. It'll be easier to raise kids; also, women who are exciting also bring a lot of drama. Boring actually sounds great to me. |
sizzlers: The next stage is polytheism. Cultures progress from belief in finite spirits to the worship of gods. From polytheism a culture evolves to henotheism, which is belief in many gods but worship directed to only one of them. The final stage is monotheism, the worship of one God.Nope, the final stage is atheism/agnosticism. |
truthislight: "And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees’ excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah. It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there." (Isaiah 13:19-20).Nothing at all impressive about this. Babylon's location is actually not wet but pretty dry. And it was abandoned. So what. Many cities have suffered the same fate. I would be much more impressed if the Bible had described in detail some previously unknown and unknowable scientific principle before it was possible. Like microbes being the cause of disease. Or an accurate description of the solar system. But no, the knowledge of the Bible is by coincidence limited to the same knowledge that human beings had at that time. |
So let me guess: I should give my heart to Jesus and my wallet to the pastor in order to be saved from being placed in hell by some evil god. |
I've been traveling for the past week. Looks like I've missed out on being condemned to the hellfire! Oh well, another opportunity will soon come knocking. |
Thanks for your concern but I prefer Satan. |
plaetton: I can see that you never ever read the book.I most certainly did read the book! It was interesting but just not based on anything that could be independently corroborated, and therefore, pure speculation. I don't believe much of what the book asserts. |
PAGAN 9JA:The book you are talking about is a hoax. I'm an atheist but this book was written by people who have an axe to grind with the current British royal family, and they use this made-up claim about descent from Jesus to make their own claim to the throne of the UK (I'm talking about the Stuart family, whose dynasty ended about 1714) They have absolutely no evidence for what they say and rely only on peoples' fascination with grand conspiracies to get some attention. |
All religions are man-made (frauds if you like). Let them prove what they offer you. Let them show you the souls of good Christians in heaven as proof that their way is The Only Way. If they can't do that then it's all just word in a book, like any fiction novel. |
Logicboy03: I weep for humanity when knowledge is now a thing to be hated or fearedPeople fear and hate knowledge only when they are told that their existence depends on that state of mind, usually by someone who has an interest in controlling that knowledge. |
-fear of having the logical fallacies pointed out about their religion -fear of having the contradictions in their holy book pointed out |
Wait a minute! I thought I was the Antichrist! Or maybe my mother wasn't speaking literally when she told me I was a devil as a child.... |
J12: LMAOI believe that God and Satan are engaged in an endless session of homosexual sex with each other. Prove that they are not, and don't make fun of my beliefs just because you lack the spiritual awareness that I have to know this. If you doubt then you are just blind and foolish. See how far we can go with this? |
Of course I could vote for an atheist. Politicians that profess how religious they are make me sick. |
Sweetnecta: i am certain that the article below is certain for this and many other threads about islam. That's commendable. I support this for everyone. However, Allah is clearly using kafir-developed technology to enable Saudi Arabia to do this. I also am sure that the water desalinization plants are also designed by kafirs as well. In any case, if the oyibos had to evacuate Europe for some reason, they'll just set up shop in the Sahara and build their own stuff. |
Neither Jesus nor Abraham said the sentence that all Muslims must say and believe in order to be a Muslim: "There is no god but god and Muhammad is his prophet". They could therefore not be considered Muslims even by Muslims. Sweetnecta: logicboy03 thinks he is making a good point. is there in the "jewish scriptures" where they are commanded to pray to a ruined wall?Jews have no central location to pray because there is a mosque on top of their holiest site. Maybe they should tear down the mosque there and rebuild the temple so that they won't be 'praying to a ruined wall' anymore. What would Muslims pray to if the Kaaba were made into a parking lot? |
A science professor might say "the plural of anecdote is not data." Anyone can gather a few stories here and there to justify whatever they believe, but that does not make it hard evidence. Also you should look up the term 'illusory correlation'. It applies here as well. |
Drinking alcohol is not a sin. Overconsumption (drunkenness) can be very destructive socially and physically. You should not have more than 4 drinks at one sitting (1 drink = 1 small beer), and don't drink more than a couple of times a week. |
2good: I have the brain to have studied for a masters degree in one of the elite universities in Europe but I don't have the brain to understand simple ancient folklore? You make me laugh. Try put your brain to reasoning rather than believing ancient stories. By the way, the Muslims take the Qur'an to be sacred while the Jews also take the Torah to be sacred just like you christians take the bible to be god's word.In order to understand the Bible one must have a Ph.D. in confirmation bias! ![]() |
"The more I study religions the more I am convinced that man never worshiped anything but himself." Richard Burton, 19th century world traveler "Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful." Seneca the Younger, Roman philosopher |
I'm ashamed that I thought my religion was the one True Religion and that all others were mythology. When in fact if you place them side by side they are all equally myths. I'm ashamed that I believed in the miracles described by holy books when in fact I was not there and did not see them. I'm ashamed that I believed in a God who is really quite evil, if you look at his behavior in the Bible (and Quran, though I'm not a former Muslim). |
Arabs also smoke like crazy. I've never met a Lebanese guy who didn't smoke. |
Most Arabs practiced a form of polytheism in which there were more than 300 gods. There was also quite a large Jewish population as well as some Christians, which explains why Islam was greatly influenced by these religions. |
LogicBoy, do you seriously expect theists to say nice things about us? If there is one thing that Christians and Muslims can agree on, it is that we atheists are, at worst, the agents of Satan; or, at best, pitiful lost sheep. ![]() |
maclatunji: I expected this sort of argument. It's like when we Muslims say Ahmed is the same as Muhammad. We Muslims call our children both and don't discriminate between them. The difference between Joshua and Jesus becomes evident when you guys name your children Joshua and not Jesus. Why reserve Jesus? Busy right Now, will be back."you guys"? I'm an atheist, I'm certainly not going to defend Christian rationales for whatever customs they have. I was just stating a fact. However, maybe I should name my child Jesus H. Christ and see how he is treated! ![]() |
