I await the OPs rebuttal to lastpage's grand entry. |
lastpage: Let me say something here, this Eediot does not represent the OPINION of N.I.D. in any way.By far, the BEST contribution I have read on this thread so far. I will follow you. |
Ralphlauren: I currently earn £450 a day (before tax) and i thought I was big.Errmm...ok. I comment my reserve..lol! |
Very true stuff. I left a very good paying job in Nigeria for the reasons stated. I have peace now because I know I am doing the things I love doing. But I left that 'job' because there was a solid back up I can trust. I will not advise anyone to leave his/her work because he/she is in the wrong career when there isn't any other means of survival. That's suicidal. That said, be ready to live with the consequences of the choice(s) you have made. |
A little bit of Tim Newmanns expose of the ''religiousness'' of Nigerians has been laid bare here by the poor woman. Like Frosbel said, you need REAL contact with JESUS and not some man of God somewhere to have that perfect change. |
HNosegbe: Why am I not surprised?Like Tim Newmann said, ''it got to a point where nothing surprise you anymore in terms of corruption in Nigeria''... |
mubalex50: Guy, do u knw dat, u can nt settle wit ur fwnd? U can only settle wit ur enemy, 2 rongs can neva make a right, diplomacy is best way of solving syria pro.Where did these crop of writers spring from? I just had a major headache trying to read some meaning to what you wrote up there. |
I guess we have another ''Yaradua-like'' case in our hands. Remote controlled government. Greed. smh for my country. We're really in deep shit as a nation. |
. |
Already? No fall my hand ooo. After all that talk.
my brother...reading all that's been posted here, and then also thinking about what happened in the past. I am just highly discouraged, do I stand a chance in there? Where do I start from? Won't I just be a flash in the pan? So many questions....Perhaps I should just keep fighting from here..on Nairaland....the pen is often mightier than many weapons. |
Just reading this. For those of us who have been here since 2005, we have read very meaningful, intelligent and enlightening post from sir Eziachi. Jakumo has advised that you use some artificial limbs - perhaps this will help. Keep the fire burning. |
A classical example of the demen.ted kids I talked about in my previous post. We have so many of them on this forum.. & I find it very difficult to post reasonable comments as they seem to have a very low I.Q and a pitiable quantitative ability to understand any reasonable statement.. Their presence drives away wise men.. I pity the future of Nairaland.
HAHAHAHA!! I nor fit shout! |
I never knew things have gotten so bad like this. Ha! Who will help save us? |
You know, I'm beginning to think it's better to stay away from the country. hmnnn ![]() |
Sagamite: Example of them wanting 100%:Spot on, ''very current'' example of the greed in Naija. |
braveheart2012: Guess who has been maintaining whatever semblance of order still exists? The military! Do you think the military is doing all this out of honor and duty? Think again! Guess who is reaping the largest rewards from oil bunkering? The military! That's why Jonathan is turning a blind eye. We are already under the military. Jonathan is just window-dressing.You sound like an old NL guy - with a new name. Care to tell those of us 'old hands' who you are? Now, can you shed some light on this military reaping oil bunkering thing? We thought it's all about some ''faceless'' militants! |
Every now and then, we see 'sparks' the likes of Wole Soyinka, this Prof Nok, Chinua Achebe and a very few others blazing the trail, going against all the odds, braving it through the hell that's Nigeria and coming out 'victorious'. We appreciate these people. We admire them and their courage and how they have helped to give the average Nigerian 'hope' when all seems lost. We thank them. However, we can never shy away from the stark truth staring us all in the face. Our country Nigeria is on the brink. We're sinking very fast under the weight of corruption, nepotism, greed, indiscipline, laziness, dirty habits, religious bigotry, and lawlessness that pervades the land. If we close our eyes to these big ticket items plaguing us, we will definitely soon be consumed by them. All of the consequences of 'living' with these things are seen in the following: - dilapidated roads, power and health infrastructure - dead law enforcement agencies - bribery and corruption ridden government at all levels -local, state and federal - very poor products of educational institutions - ingrained desires by the majority of the populace to embrace everything that's corrupt - praise singing of people with questionable character - etc etc We need to tackle all the above so that we can have many of Prof Noks type among us. |
No dude...Africa is already hell...there cant possibility be two hells...nice try
lol.. |
Sagamite: Upon all the man said, the thing that bothers you the most is the fact you "think" he wants to comeback to work in Nigeria?haha..lol! |
And now, sagamite is boiling over with rage..lololo! |
I possess the same, if not more sef, of those characteristics you posted but I won't/can't claim to be able to make the changes you stated. I was expecting you to say stuff like you participated in student rallies, pro-democracy walks, gani's protest etc. All that stuff you posted is possessed by thousands of Nigerians. We are all not corrupt you know. My grudge is that everybody makes the claims you make. The only people doing something don't make the claims, they are actually doing stuff IN Nigeria and not making claims from far away. It is easy to say but my guy/girl, when the Nigerian reality hits you eh eh.....
Perhaps...and then again, maybe we need to really fully define what corruption is, in the light of what you've written. ..smh ![]() |

You may even be termed stupid when you go ''physical'' against some things - ever heard about the power of a pen? That said, I can assure you that the fact that many are reading this man's write up will go a long way to help 'fight' corruption. It's like sowing a seed, and it will grow to something we all can appreciate later on. And beside, I was only responding to 99cents question in that post. |
Boll2010: nigga al dis for me u jokin ryt......lame man,so lame,u must be typin from a wheelchair......u aint derailin dis thread eit me muthafu!cka'mayb u go hang ur nuts on nxt thread.......done playn wit bit!chas!s niggasYea. That's more like what I expect from you. |
Bwahahahahahahahaha!!!!! ![]() Brilliant!
So what's funny? This is serious business o......we're in a sinking ship. We should be posting solutions o... |
Story story my dear friend. Thousands have said the same and as soon as that six figure job comes around, out goes the chest beating. What have you done starting from primary school to indicate you will change the country? People who have changed civilizations/countries did not just start "one day" after they graduated from school. It was in them from the start. THey did things right from when they were young and it grew on them. So my question to you is what have you done to indicate you will really change anything if/when you do go back? If we count the number of times Nigerians have made your claim, we will be the richest and most developed nation in the world. Please don't come here telling me you will be different. I need examples of what you have done that will tell me you mean business. Avoiding to take the short-cut in that retail store in h-town doesn't count either. Refusing that bribe doesn't count either.
Alright. Perhaps, you want to tell me what it will take to change Nigeria. I don't claim I alone can or will do it in one day. If you read my previous posts, you will see where I stated that these things will not be done with 100% perfection...and it takes time. I take utmost pain to make sure there's nothing corrupt in everything I do. I like probity, accountability and the rule of law. This has always been in me right from my childhood days.....some of the characteristics that stood me out among the lot in Primary 6, which led to my being made the senior boy of my school at that time. |
Boll2010: I known u wnt be wise wit ur reply,What you put up there..is there any iota of wisdom in it? Because debosky is moderating a section of Nairaland does not give you any right to paint him black. You will say it's the 'sexuality' section - so what??! Being sexualy active is not a crime in itself (it's even a good sign that you're alive!) - it's when you can't control your desires and urges that you become slave to it. That's the 'sin' thing God warns everyone to steer clear of. I have had some very interesting and enlightening discussions with debosky in many areas on this nairaland - politics section in particular. He's a very smart guy with very good analytical skills. You on the other hand I don't know. So, if I follow him, it's really none of your business. |
Boll2010: young man calm down,I jst checked ur profile now n saw u followin DEBOSKY a notorious person in d SEXUALITY N ROMANCE section,so don't sound to serious, its al funWho the fucckkk is this one??!! If you know what debosky's brain is made up of, you'll know he's not in your league. You think everything about life is all ''sex''?? oshi! |
I honestly don't understand why this type of utter nonsense and rubbish of a thread is allowed to catch my attention. What has nairaland turned into?? Where in the world is Seun? The other day it was for me to ''Look at OBJ wearing a T-shirt'' at the front page; then some shitty things about an unknown person getting married. Is this how nairaland wants to reward those of us who have been their ardent supporters and readers since 2005? I did all I could to bring a burning topic on ''Nigeria and Nigerians - from a British Expat'', to the front page, that topic kept going down the ladder - as hot as it is!! I know if I leave this place, I will not be missed. But I must warn that if this is how Seun wants to start running his nairaland, many will not take the site as a serious one anymore. But then, many have gone and new comers are trooping in. Ki ni big deal?! Abi! |
Babiloko: dis man vowed 2 take his life if PDP loses election in edo state.....i wunda y he is stil aliveIt is possible that it is his ghost that's talking. smh. |
@kokosheen, Many thanks for all your explanations. Well done. |
@edo.girl, I will rather believe the stories/news I get from companies corporate websites than from ANY Nigerian newspaper outfit - any day, any time. And please, I never implied in any way that Olokola was a viable project. Way back since 2006 I ''predicted'' - and that, right here on Nairaland, that the project is a dead-on-arrival one. |
@edo.girl, Sorry, it's not Brass - Bonny please. So, let me tell you point blank that I work with an IOC (the inner caucus group) - is that sufficient for you now? So spare me all the other facts about economics and planning. There is a Shell Nigeria Gas outfit at Ota for your information (http://www.shell.com.ng/products-services/solutions-for-businesses/natural-gas.html). That unit sell gas to many of the factories at Ota and Aba. So, your claim that usage of natural gas is ''relatively low'' and that very few people use gas in Nigeria isn't very true. You even stated that ''Paradoxically, much of Nigeria's gas can't be sold locally due to low domestic prices. '' What you should say is that the requisite 'hardware' needed to channel the stuff to many end users isn't there at the moment, but I think (and I hope this will come to fruition) the FG is putting some plans in place to make sure that the distribution of this product is within the reach of the average Nigerian - to get better value. You may want to read the stuff in this link as well. If we want to enlighten the public, lets do it properly. http://www.nnpcgroup.com/NNPCBusiness/BusinessInformation/InvestmentOpportunities/NigeriaGas.aspx You need to understand that cheap energy sources means better life for everyone. It is true that profit making will be severely cut as a result of the 'glut' of gas in the market. But that doesn't make it unviable. If the IOCs don't go into the business, others will. |
