@Sconty09,
Again, what you lot fail to ''accept'' into your thick skull is that ''what is wrong is wrong, and there's no justification whatsoever for anyone to come up with a wicked solution (akin to what the problem is initially) that could only worsen the problem''. How will marrying off a teenage girl to a paedophile help solve the problem you posted up there?

That those pastors commit that crime 'DOES NOT MAKE IT RIGHT' that's why they were arrested and prosecuted. Get that fact into your thick skull. Will you go and steal because there are robbers everywhere in the worldhuh ode oshi.

If this is a religious thing as opined by the Malam, it will take a long time for him to come to that realization that he needs an education on how the world has moved on from the primitive ways of his '' best of the example of mankind''

His solutions to the problem bedeviling the ''girl child'' in his area will sure worsen it. Pity, the type of people elected to represent us at the NA.

This just doesn't make any sense at all. How is it that our representatives at the highest level of law making in this country were so pre-occupied with consenting to this kind of wicked law when we have other pressing matters of urgent national importance impacting negatively on the society that they need to deliberate upon?

Most of them are from the North. That part of the country really need to have the heads of their leaders/representatives examined.

Christianity EtcRe: Religion Vs Jesus Christ - Important by ono(m): 1:35pm On Jul 05, 2013
@frosbel,
If you go out there looking for ''churches'' with no hypocrites in them, I'm afraid you will never get anyone. There are hypocrites in all denominations - for even the devil has now transformed himself into an angel of light to deceive people. It was this realisation that made me stay put where I am - in DL. Bible said so let your light shine before men that they may see your good works and give glory to God in heaven (Mat 5:16)

I see your understanding of God's word is good. But this liberty you now have should not make you proud and look down on others. That's a dangerous position to be in. You become an easy target for the Devil.

My advice: Go back to your local Deeperlife district church. Let this fresh anointing on you spread to others so that on the last day, God will not ask you what you did with the knowledge He gave you. Let the love of God fill your heart to the extent that you even love your enemies even as Jesus did.

May God help us all in this christian journey.
Christianity EtcRe: Religion Vs Jesus Christ - Important by ono(m): 9:30am On Jul 05, 2013
alexleo and frosbel,
No need to argue in the open like this. We have a greater enemy who profits and smiles away when christians are at each other's throat. You need to grow beyond this level and begin to have an 'helicopter view' of issues.

Like I stated in one of my entries, the greatest enemy of mankind is the Devil. Give him an inch in your life and he will consume you totally. Let Jesus have complete control of your life and your destiny is sure both in this world and in the world to come.
Christianity EtcRe: Religion Vs Jesus Christ - Important by ono(m): 3:13pm On Jul 04, 2013
@Frosbel,
I would like to know you more.

I have been in Deeperlife since the early 80s. I was raised in the children church, was with the DLSO, DLCF and now even in the UK, with all the negative things I see around me in the church, I refused to leave. And I will not leave.

You have to take a stand. I am not in that church because of Pastor Kumuyi. He's not Jesus Christ. And Pastor is not my role model - Jesus is my everything. If I tell you my experience in the hands of so-called brethren in Deeperlife, you will wonder why I am still in the church.

Don't go out there and face the world and the Devil all alone. There are times the teachings, prayers and blessings I receive in the church on Sunday worship service, Monday bible study and Thursday revival hour service have this ''therapeutic effect'' on my spirit and soul. I don't get that feeling elsewhere and I have managed over the years not to allow church politics and the likes to take it away from me. May God help us all.

One Shymexx said he's left ''religion'' for some 4-years now. I said to myself, wow! The guy, whoever he is, is ''almost'' there. The remaining bit is Jesus, call him Isa (muslims) or whatever. That's the name that send chills down the spine of the evil one and his forces. Thank God for a way out for mankind. We're powerless without Jesus. We can't do anything against the Devil without Jesus. Our knowledge and skills and training etc is useless without the help of Christ Jesus.

We all need to come to that consciousness that religion (Islam or Christianity or whatever) will do us all no good. Deliberate efforts must be put in by every human on earth to allow Jesus become his personal Lord and saviour in this world. This is the only way out. This is not some born again gist and stuff. Just restrict yourself to the worship of your saviour, master and deliverer - Jesus our Lord. Listen to the word of God. Fill your heart with Love for God and Christ and your fellow men and all will be well.
That was my post on something related to Frosbel's write up last year.

I am happy many people are seeing ''religion'' for what it is. God be praised. Jesus said in the last days the knowledge of God's word will fill the earth as the waters cover the sea. Praise God! He's coming soon! Lets be ready.

PoliticsThe 25 Most Miserable Places In The World by ono(op): 12:22am On Feb 24, 2013
The misery index, a crude economic measure created by Arthur Orkum, sums a country's unemployment and inflation rates to assess conditions on the ground (the higher the number, the more miserable a country is). The reasoning: most citizens understand the pain of a high jobless rate and the soaring price of goods.

Business Insider totaled the figures for 197 countries and territories — from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe — to compile the 2013 Misery Index.

Note: Results are based on CIA World Factbook data, which estimates figures for countries and territories that do not have reliable local reporting agencies. The CIA World Factbook was last updated on February 11, 2013.

SportsRe: Should Siasia Share In Keshi's Glory? by ono(m): 11:31pm On Feb 08, 2013
When I read this entry by Jarus, I paused for a while to reflect on all that he wrote about Siasia. I looked at the whole write up from a different viewpoint.

- What would happen to the Nigeria of our dreams if all Nigerians can cultivate the Siasia habit - discipline, punctuality, respect for others, professional touch etc etc?

- What would happen to Nigeria if our leaders can emulate Siasia's sterling qualities (which we're reaping from today) and decide to punish offenders, looters, thieves and corrupt members of the society, show them the way out, tell the godfathers and other old (and as Abati called all of them - 'yesterday's men) hands to shut up or get locked up forever - the way Siasia did to the Odemwingie and his likes of this country?

I think we will begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel for our dear country. I think, just like the Super eagles have come this far to participate in the final leg of the African nations cup, after years of draught, we will all raise our shoulders high again. We will all be proud to be called ''Nigerian'' anywhere in the world.

Let us all keep this hope alive. Copy (if that's what we're best at) the Siasia's style of ''living'' and bring our dear country out of the doldrum. Peace.

Jarus: Win or lose, sacked or left to continue, call it fluke or tactical efficiency, Stephen Keshi has made his mark already as producing for Nigeria its best performance in 13 years.

Some of us that faulted his inclusion of home-based players and dropping of some big names have since returned to our vomit, swallowing it.

Give it to him, he deserves some respect, for sticking to his gun with these young players.

While giving him the full credit, someone reminded me that Siasia also deserves part as some of the players Keshi are using actually cut their Super Eagles teeth under him. I almost spanked the person, that 'Dr, are you serious? Siasia that did not even qualify us for Nations cup'. But on a more critical reflection, I realized some things:

1, Some of the players Keshi is using to produce result actually made their debut under Siasia (Musa, Emenike etc)

2, Siasia started the discipline trend which is working for Keshi. He dropped key players like Osaze because they were fighting with coaches. Keshi also did same. In hindsight, that decision is very right, if it were Osaze that is being made to sit on bench like Yobo or Uche now, by now we would be hearing different news from camp, news of Osaze fighting coach etc. It didn't work for Osaze, and initially appeared not working for Keshi too until the gradual turn-around.

3, Against Guinea in October 2011 in the match we drew that cost us AFCON 2012 participation, Siasia stuck his neck for Emenike despite the guy missing chances and we were all shouting. Today, it is same Emenike that is now firing at all cylinders? Could this mean we were impatient with Siasia? That he saw what we didn't see in this guy? (in any case I have personally always believed in Emenike's ability)

4, When Amodu purely had foreign, big players orientation, Siasia has a mixture generation orientation, gradually introducing the younger boys. He traveled round teh world to speak with many Nigerian young players, including Victor Moses, and convince them to come play for Nigeria. These are the boys doing it for Nigeria today.

With all these and many others, are we right to say Siasia laid the foundation to today's success? Or Keshi's philosophy just appears to co-incide with Siasia's in many respects? Does he deserve some credit?

PoliticsRe: The Hypocrisy Of Yesterday’s Men, By Reuben Abati by ono(m):
Many of the laptop crew & those taken in by Abati's delicious prose seem to forget that just recently, the present Government appointed a notoriously corrupt inefficient ''yesterday man'', infact ''last week man'' who should be spending time in prison, into a key government position that should have been filled by a seasoned technocrat.

In this very article, Abati posited that most of the road contracts were awarded under the previous administration (implying that the poosr state of roads today is their fault as those contracts were not executed. Right? Right). Now, the Chief Thief of these road contracts moneys (runnint into billions) is the one and only Chief Anenih who is the NPA board chairman today.
Is that a man expected to ''clean the augean stables'' of the NPA??

Fo.olish government, more fo.o.lish supporters & absolutely unintelligent(deliberately perhaps) spokesmen. Not surprising tho as we can only expect that much from GEJ. You people should go outside the country, see the level of development there, then come back and tell me exactly when Nigeria is going to pick up with the rate this administration is going despite the billions we earn daily and the monies continually being borrowed. Rubb.ish.

Which way Nigeria. The laptop supporters, continue attacking critics who are seeking to keep the government on their toes, in the near future, your own children will face you and ask you why you stupi.dly kept qquiet or even egged this administration on when they busied themselves with running down Nigeria.
What you forget is that it takes time to clean out the aegean stables. If you rush hot food, it will burn your throat and harm you in the end. You see, I'm beginning to have a rethink about Jonathan's tactics. Maybe he truly needs to be slow after all. Maybe, just maybe he needs to bring back some of those yesterday's men (Anenih and co) so just that they may stew in their own juice.

Correcting what was done wrong in the past takes patience, tactics, skills and intelligence. Perhaps that's what Jonathan is up to - I just wish it is. Facing the corruption problems head on in Nigeria will be suicidal - even for a sitting president. I have realised that now. Corruption permeates every facet of our existence. Corruption is Nigeria and Nigeria is corruption. Trying to change things the way they are now will be met with a brickwall - especially from those who are benefitting from the present state of affairs. And those benefitting, my dear, they are strong and many. They're very powerful indeed.

This write up by Abati must have been endorsed by Jonathan. He played safe - and he was wise in doing that! It is clear, the reasons why Jonathan has so many opposition in government. It is clear why he allowed old people to be in government. It is also clear now that he's doing his best not just for the Niger Delta, but for the country as whole. I can only wish him goodluck (his name) as he tries to right the wrongs of the past.

I wish ''something'' somewhere can fast track that awakening. I once told my friends that if I find my way to the top in Nigeria political setting as it is at the moment, I'm going to make ''killing the rich and wealthy folks (including their relations residing in the country) - who have been found to acquire their wealth through dubious means'' my top priority. Obviously, she got that oil prospecting lease during the time Babangida - IBB was lord of the manor at Dodan Barracks in Lagos. It is on record that the regime of IBB was the most corrupt, ruthless (perhaps second to Abacha's) in the history of Nigeria. If I recall correctly, the period May - June 1993 was the transition period of IBB's regime, and that was when MKO Abiola's election was held - and cancelled.

I like to congratulate success when I see one, but this one is below par.

I remember very well that the Governor of Rivers State, Hon Amaechi spent the most part of this year clearing waterways and building gigantic drainages across Port-Harcourt in particular. He even destroyed one of my friends house - the house was blocking one of the waterways in Port Harcourt and had to go. I am sure he will be smiling now, as Port-Harcourt, I believe, is spared of these flood problems.

The NIMET chief said he sent out signed letters to all the Governors of the coastal and riverine states early this year. He said, in one of the news clips, that he personally signed and sent the letters to the governors of the states warning them of iminent dangers posed by heavy rains that they have forecasted this year. I'm sure none of use would listen carefully to that clip.

So, aside from Amaechi, all the other governors threw the letters into waste bins. The result is what you're seeing now. Many lives have been lost to the careless and non-chalant attitude of these governors. None of them can come out to say they were not warned.

ghazzal: someone is reporting this not Jesus saying it himself. cant you see that?

"I am the way the truth and the light, no one comes to the father except through me" think sincerely very well. if Moses had told the isrealites this same set of words, would it been a lie? would ant of them who die gain salvation without believing in Moses? answer?

Me and my father are one, since you claim Jesus said this, and most of the time, he talked in parables, could this have been an idiomatic expression? are you sure it is not in idiomatic expresion? compare with several places where he made it known that God is one in heaven who sent him, check Mark 12:28-30 where Jesus reitterated the first Law the Lord our God his one.. note here the use of the word "our" by Jesus again. it means the Lord of everyone including Jesus. May God guide you all aright but always remember that we all have just 1 life. make it live forever of burn forever... the choice is ours (everyones)
Perhaps you need to also ask if Moses could say this too:

So Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.54 Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.56 Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.57 As the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me, he also will live because of me.58 This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the breadt the fathers ate and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever."

How about you explain what Jesus said up there in bold, hmn? Give it a shot!

PoliticsRe: Adenuga’s GCON Well Deserved – Presidency by ono(m):
The thing with many of us Nigerians is that we can't see far. We forget past events quickly, and so, we don't learn. We also get carried away easily - call it spur of the moment, effizy, shine shine.

Any business that thrives in Nigeria - with the current state of dilapidated non functioning power infrastructure, poor road networks and all the fraudsters, must be highly connected to ''the powers that be'' in the land. The likes of Adenuga and Dangote's business ''empires'' are no exception. I'm not convinced that these people worked hard for their wealth in this country.

So, when you see GEJ giving them the highest honour in the land, it is not for anything worthy of emulation. It is just that they (these greedy lot) want to have that GCON too - you know how greedy and power drunk they get when they are in that group.

Beaf: Aliyu Mohammed Gusau, the current National Security Adviser is on the list!

These are indictments, but the brand new Attorney General (Adoke) has already promised that nobody would be too big to be brought to book over the Harliburton scandal.
We shall see
.
My brother Beaf, we're still waiting o! Nothing has been done to bring the folks in that list to book. Rather, some of them are even bidding for DISCOs in PHCN.
