abdulazeez1002: The Office of former President Jonathan has dismissed as a blatant lie, the claim by the running mate to the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Obafemi Hamzat, that he rejected a $5million bribe from former President Goodluck Jonathan during the 2015 elections. In a statement issued on Sunday, Ikechukwu Eze, media adviser to the former President stressed that Jonathan had never met Mr. Hamzat who he said was not relevant in the politics of 2015 elections.
Describing Hamzat as a compulsive liar, Eze stated that Hamzat does not possess the character for the office he now seeks.
Below is the full statement: Re: $5m bribe claim: Hamzat’s blatant lie against ex- President Jonathan
Our attention has been drawn to a claim by the running mate to the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Obafemi Hamzat, that he rejected a $5million bribe from former President Goodluck Jonathan during the 2015 elections.
There is no better way to respond to this frivolous claim than to quickly dismiss it as a blatant lie apparently concocted by a wannabe politician desperate for votes in a campaign season.
In the first place this character is an obscure individual who in 2015 had neither a recognizable name nor political clout. The point has to be clearly made that former President Jonathan has never met this man who was obviously not relevant in the national politics of 2015, let alone seek to offer him bribe.
If the former President did not offer anyone bribe, having clearly acquitted himself as a man who does not believe in desperate politics, how on earth could he have sought to compromise an individual he didn’t even know and who obviously had no means of helping him politically?
Assuming anybody had $5 million dollars to spend to better his political fortune as Mr. Hamzat claimed, why seek to waste it on man who was just a commissioner prior to 2015, and whose best outing so far is to function as a hand- picked running mate to a governorship candidate in the forthcoming 2019 elections?
His is obviously the antics of a desperate and dishonest politician seeking to apply subterfuge and outright lies, believing that such could boost his lowly image, win for him public sympathy and possibly, votes. It is the action of people like Hamzat that conjures up in the minds of Nigerians the Biblical ‘Mark of the Beast’ to the effect that to be accepted in his party, one must be adept at telling lies.
If this is how Mr. Hamzat wishes to anchor his own political doctrine on lies and name dropping, he should be reminded that those who follow this route do not go far either in politics or personal growth. This definitely should not be the character and colour of a person who wants to become a governor or deputy governor of a state, lest we lose all hope in the expectation that we have all it takes to rescue our country from the bleak future that stares it in the face.
What we know about liars is that they always leave a loose end which readily exposes them for who they are. Otherwise, Mr. Hamzat should have been bold enough to tell Nigerians where the money was presented to him and in whose presence the offer was made. We have always made the point that there should be a limit to these lies, if we must make progress as a democratic nation. Nigerians are not fools. It is high time those in positions of responsibility stopped running this country on lies.
https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/12/hamzat-is-a-compulsive-liar-who-has-no-character-for-public-office-says-jonathan-aide/ Hamzat should be the residential electoral commissioner or the principal returning officer in 2015 to have ti have been valued at $15m.

ripplesnewsroom: KEYAMO: If the system worked, Atiku should be in jail by now, not contesting for president
For the Spokesperson of the Buhari Campaign Organization, Festus Keyamo, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar should be in jail rather than contesting for the office of the President, if Nigeria had a working system.
Keyamo said Atiku would have been in jail for different acts of alleged corruption and abuse of power, including tax evasion.
He was responding to a statement by Atiku where he disagreed with President Muhammadu Buhari that the system in Nigeria allows corruption to thrive because it is slow in tackling corruption.
Atiku also said Buhari had failed to address cases of “corrupt practices” under his watch.
But Keyamo reminded Atiku that he was one of the “greatest beneficiaries of the failed system in tackling corruption that was in place before President Muhammadu Buhari took over in 2015”.
He claimed the former Vice-President robbed the Nigerian people of their wealth by acquiring substantial shares in INTELS as a customs officers when he was in power, thereby creating a monopolistic company which had been broken by President Buhari.
Keyamo who dragged former President Olusegun Obasanjo into the argument said “there was a competition for corruption between himself (Atiku), his boss and public officers”
For reasons why Atiku should be in jail, Keyamo explains, “For himself and his boss, President Olusegun Obasanjo, granting themselves licenses to build universities as President and Vice President whilst in office in clear breach of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers.
“Those Universities would have been probed, seized and transferred to the Nigerian State and the Nigerian people by now.
“Laundering slush funds to the United States of America using phony companies, part of which was used to fund his present American University in Adamawa State through which he is also extorting Nigerians through exorbitant fees. It is public knowledge that this indictment is contained in a US Congressional Report that has led to the prosecution and conviction of his accomplices in the US, which are William Jefferson and Siemens.

PoliticsNigeria: @POLITICSNGR
The Chairman, Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property, Chief Okoi Obono Obla on Friday dismissed calls by the House of Representatives for his dismissal as a ploy to derail investigations into corrupt practices.
Obla said recent attacks against him, over an alleged forged WAEC certificate since he commenced investigations into the activities and finances of some senators and members of the House of Representatives, were premeditated.
He said: “The call by the House of Representatives on Mr President to sack me for alleged certificate forgery is hogwash, balderdash and absolute rubbish!
“It is a hatchet job by agents and merchants of corruption and graft that have looted the country for the past 19 years to intimidate, hound and harass me.
“They are agents of looters that I have investigated. Is the house of representatives the police?” he queried in a statement in Lagos.
On the allegation of certificate forgery, Obla stated that he graduated from the university over 30 years ago.
“I left university 30 years ago. I graduated and went to law school. I left Law School in 1990 and was called to Bar in June 1991.
“The university screened me and awarded me a degree after deeming me worthy and after fulfilling the entry requirements.
“I wrote JAMB and scored excellent grades in all the subjects I wrote.
“It is a blackmail contrived by looters and their agents using the House of Representatives,” he said.
PoliticsNGR gathered that Obla has also filed a lawsuit against the House of Representatives over the matter.
According to him, the call for his sack was a reaction to the information released by his panel forwarding the names of those under its investigation to the Nigeria Immigration Service.
He said the information required the Service to implement the travel ban stipulated by the Executive Order No 6 of 2018 for those under trial and investigation for corruption and abuse of office.
“I must be a genius to pass through University and Law School, practice law for more than two decades without a school certificate.
“The whole issue is really laughable but it is sad the extent to which corruption can fight back,” he said.
https://politicsngr.com/hatchet-job-obono-obla-reacts-house-reps-call-sack/ He is challenging the power of the House of representatives to conduct such an investigation, adding that the report is a hatchet job with a premeditated mission, illegal and unconstitutional. So since the police is now a dummy in the hands of the cabal, they should allow them do there job even when they are sure the police would say they have no directive to investigate. A chief magistrate court in Kano state remanded Adeyanju in prison custody after taking his plea
The police arrested Mr Adeyanju on December 13, accusing him of being complicit in a murder case in 2000.Adeyanju was discharged and acquitted by the Kano State High Court after a trial that lasted between 2005 and 2009.
Adeyanju was arraigned before Justice Hassan Fagge early Friday morning. He stated that he lacked the power to hear the murder charges brought against the political activist by the police but ordered that he remains in prison until February 6 when a higher court will be available for a hearing into the matter.
Adeyanju has been moved to Kano Prisons.

StateNews: This Is Show Of Shame. You Cannot Justify Disrespecting The President – Ayogu Eze To PDP lawmakers
A ranking Nigerian senator and the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2019 election in Enugu Sate, Sen. Ayogu Eze has condemned what transpired in the National Assembly when President Muhammad Buhari presented the 2019 appropriation to a joint sitting of the assembly.
Sen. Eze said that it was unprecedented for members of the National Assembly who pride themselves as the true representatives of the people to descend to a level where they left Nigerians with the difficult task of distinguishing between them and kindergarten delinquents, arguing that their actions had portrayed our hallowed assembly as a place where people serve only their selfish interest.
“These are fathers and mothers of adults and children who were probably sitting in front of their television sets watching these unguarded conducts. How would they explain their behavior on live television to their spouses and children? What examples were they setting for a nation that looks up to them for leadership”, Sen. Eze asked.
The APC guber candidate said that legislators are usually allowed their idiosyncrasies but not in a manner that would desecrate the very institution whose integrity they’re elected to protect.
Sen. Eze said the National Assembly owes the people of Nigeria an apology for “this show of shame”, adding that nothing on earth can justify disrespecting the “president while performing one of his most sacred constitutional responsibilities of charting a course of how the ship of state would be moved in the next 12 months.”
He said the unfortunate thing is that the same people who are expected to process and pass this budget for the benefit of Nigerians were too preoccupied with their noisy chants to be able to listen to the details of the budget, arguing that “the net effect of this disruptive conduct will show during the budget defense and passage when the items in the budget would appear completely alien to most of them.”
He commended the president for his statesmanship and for not losing his cool even in the face of the uninvited provocation. He said: “The President’s poise and carriage portrayed him as a mature statesman, who even in the face of a very unfortunate situation did not lose his composure and confidence. It showed him as the leader Nigeria needs to navigate these turbulent times.”
Urging the President not to lose focus in his determination to reposition Nigeria to continue to play her leading role of serving as the engine of growth on the African continent, Sen. Eze tasked his fellow lawmakers to always resist the temptation of allowing personal issues to becloud their sense of patriotism and nationalism, arguing that budget presentation is a solemn national assignment that no Nigerian should toy with.
“We know the legislature as the amphitheater of debate and reasoning but certainly not an arena to play to the gallery in the hope of hoodwinking the electorate into electing or re-electing us to our desired offices “, Sen. Eze said, adding: “We as legislators must always resist the temptation to descend to theatrics on the floor of the National Assembly no matter how hotly we feel about the issues in the polity.”
Sen. Eze also said it was worrisome for the legislators to disrespect their own leadership to the extend of disallowing them to speak on such an important occasion, even after disobeying the best efforts of the presiding officers to call them to order throughout the entire budget presentation, arguing that what they did was an indirect vote of no confidence in the leadership of both chambers of the National Assembly.

Both the apc and pdp senators in there are clueless, they don't really know why they are there. NASS is not a campaign ground, why chanting 'sai baba' , 'four years more', to welcome him and while presenting? And if their foolish act is to despise their fellow foolish pdp, then they should expect foolish reactions from them. That's campaign for you. So stop making it look like there are sets of sane people among them. They are all stupid to have turned the hallowed chamber to a campaign ground. |

Pentolution: petty trading, akara selling, cobbling business. hope you know that the value of 10k in Lagos is much higher that of some parts of the country e.g remote villages, North. I know what am saying cos I served in a village where akara that is sold for N50 per one, is sold for N5.
besides as you are able to pay back, you are entitled to more and higher loans. Smiles..... Thank you. |

Pentolution: what is this one writing??. I guess you are among the few 10% who has never experienced real lack and poverty. 10k is a lot of money to many people. just because you are privileged does not mean others are like you. it is a good initiative anyway. as a trained economist. I can tell you that over 80% of the Nigerian labour force are engaged in urban informal activities e.g petty trading. this will vastly reduce unemployment. So as a trained economist, please advise which business to engage in with 10,000. |
