Ojiofor: They might have enslaved some Igbanke and Agbor people who are their neighbours since there was nothing like Igbo nation then. Or did Oba of Bini cross River Niger to kidnap slaves? They should specify were their slaves came from since by your own words there was nothing like Igbo nation then. It's tempting but misleading to judge certain historical events by the contemporary standards. 1) The wars and it's attending slave raiding were conducted between political units e.g Bini Kingdom Vs Ogwashikwu, Agbor Vs Bomadi etc 2) The battles were NOT fought between ethnic groups. 3) The ethnic groups as we now know them were classified by the British Colonial Masters around 1900. |

Ariani: I think instead of drag this Reno. Ndiigbo should force him to come clean with the people he labelled "Igbo" in that his statement. I'm very sure he is speaking of Ika and Ndokwa/Ukwuani groups still suffering from Bini Stockholm syndrome. Once we establish that he is talking about Ndokwa Ukwuani/Ika, we can rightly strip these groups of the false Igbo tag Reno labelled them and hand them over to their Bini overlords to go and argue these things out Biko.
This shouldn't be our battle.
Reno was being mischievous using "Igbo" while avoiding the use of right tags of Ika or Ukwuani/Ndokwa.
I don't see any business between Igbo man and Itsekiris. We are not neighbors and had little or no known interactions. If the last statement is true, what is the basis of IPOB and many Igbo irredentists online claiming itshekiris as parts of their Biafra? |
Politics › Re: Itsekiris And Igbo Slaves by oyatz(m): 4:22pm On Jul 22, 2021 |
Ojiofor: Reno have gone mad. That you owned some few slaves of Igbo origin does not mean that you enslaved the Igbo nation. No tribe ever conquered Igboland or enslaved ndi Igbo in their homeland. What Reno Omokri said was true as at the time of the slave trade. There was nothing like Igbo Nation then but there were Igbo people living in clans and villages which made it easy for Bini Armies to raid these villages for slaves. Infact, 200 years ago the word for slaves in many parts of the Bini Empire was 'Igbon' referring to non-edo peoples from the bush which were regularly raided for slavery. |

There is no single colonial census in Nigeria where Itsekiri were counted as Yorubas. They have always been a distinct group. And for all its Worth, Itsekiri became a part of Midwest region by referendum. They voted alongside other minorities to leave Western region. They were not carved out of Western region by a military fiat.

If electronic voting is adopted in Lagos believe in 8 years, his empire in Lagos will collapse completely because it's not about the people but about his interests only. But Tinubu is not a member of the National Assembly. Honestly I don't know why this PDP chairman thinks Tinubu is to be blamed for some senators not voting for what he prefers. look at that foolish Deji comparing Hushpuppy to Obi Cubana
lol they think nite club na paupa business same nite club a celebrity will spend nothing less than 2 million a night and to think this club is scattered all over Nigeria.
Honestly yorubas should stop these silly competition with igbos If you have problems with individuals, sort it out with such persons and stop bringing tribes into it. Deji Adeyanju , in his capacity as an individual adult capable of making inferences on his own ,made his comments about Obi Cubana. He never mentioned Igbo people as a whole. There are millions of Yoruba people who have never heard of Obi Cubana, so to make a generalized statement that the Yorubas hate or are envious of him is gross immaturity. |

YourNemesis: Igala is like an old Yoruba substrate speech that has received lots of infusions from "strange" (so to speak) languages from Jukun to Idoma to Igbo (In the southern extremities like Ibaji. With all these additions, it has somewhat morphed into something else. some consonants seem to have also mutatedd in Igala and deviated from what seem their original form.
i.e R to L, J to BI, N to L For example
Eje (Seven) = Ebie Aja (Dog) = Abia Ori (Head) = Oji Ale {Night) = Ane Enu, Arun (Mouth) = Elu/Alu Akere (Frog) = Akele Orun (Sun) = Olu E.tc
Yoruba and Igala languages are like/akin to Igbo and Ekpeye (I hope I am right) Short speeches are more understandable to speakers of both than longer discussions.
I.e
I am Hungry Yoruba: Ebi n kpa mi Igala: Ebi a kpa mi
Come and let's catch Fish: Yoruba: Wa ka kpa Eja Igala: Wa ka kpa Eja
Let us bring / pull ourselves together, and stay together. Igala: Je kafola wa mola, kajo kpai ola wa Yoruba: Je Kafara wa mora, kajo kpelu ara wa
God, Give/bring me a child Olorun, Gb'omo fun mi Ojo, Gb'oma du mi
Listen to me, I am eating three black Bananas (unripe) with yams tomorrow. T'eti gbo mi, Maa je ogede dudu meta kpelu Isu ni ola N'eti gbo mi, Naa je ogede dudu meta kpai utsu ni ona.
Give the watch onyour hand to me Mu ago owo e fun mi Mu ago owo e du mi
Overall, I can get the general "hint" of what an igala person is saying, but nothing concrete. This is interesting! Igala farmers arriving in Osun find it very easy to understand what people are saying but they can't easily speak Yoruba language with ease as they understand. |

Omoslim26: In plain words, they are saying IMO has 500k jobless people, while Borno has 200k jobless people. IMO State is in the Top ten most productive states in Nigeria so they should have more job creation than a terror savaged Borno. It depends on the research methodology. For instance ,if the definition of unemployed is 'self identification' like asking in a questionnaire ' do you consider yourself employed'? Some (educated) people in I'm State may tick 'unemployed' because they are yet to get their desired jobs in NNPC, Glo, Zenith Bank even though they are currently helping their brothers to sell goods in the Markets with at least #50K allowance per month. However in rural Borno where most people don't even consider themselves eligible for white collar jobs, they will say they are employed even if they are actually 'mai suya', Keke drivers, Mai Ruwa, Ginger farmers etc. |

Again, the context is different. The statistics is NOT measuring wealth but the NUMBERS of people unemployed. I think you first need to ask 'what exactly do them mean by 'unemployed'? You need to read and understand what's the case definition of 'unemployed' Nigerian. |
