^-- This is why at times I don't have hope for Nigeria. Imagine waiting 5 years+ for a road to be fixed/expanded Where I live, if they need to fix the road, it is a two week project. If they want to CONSTRUCT a brand new highway, 2-3 years, max. 5+ years for not just a road. . . but the most important road in the country? I don't get it.
No buddy, you fibbed!! Road construction OR rehabilitation in US takes longer than you've posited!! Simple 20 mile stretches are given 4 year timelines not to talk of a 400km road. In the link below you would find cost and duration of various road construction projects in the USA. This is wickedness now!1 That picture is photoshopped!!! The extent some people would go to destory others is pathetic!!! |
Goodluck Jonathan!! Scoring goals left, right and Center!! Nigeria is in for a great time!! Fresh Air 2011-2019!!! |
Let us calm down though, this is not confirmed yet, we all know this is crazy season. Let us calm down
Lagosboy:Two wise men!! You know not to get your hopes up!! There seems to be a subtle acceptance amongst BB supporters that Buhari cannot win this election without the TINUBU machine. Is that an effect of the saturday trouncing or is it something they have always known before?? The seeming excitement amongst BB supporters on this unconfirmed rumour . . . . . clutching at straws!!! |
Lagosboy:Exactly why I say this is coming too late. By law, campaigning ends on Thursday. So Tinubu and his ACN gang have only tommorow to get this information out to the nooks and crannies of the villages. Now how is that possible These guys have made the election easier for GEJ. The only time the Jonathan camp can have cause to worry is if Shekarau steps down. Ribadu stepping down gives Jonathan full control of the south west!It way too late for this to benefit Buhari. |
Funnily, this would be to the advantage of GEJ. The south-west does not know CPC as was evidenced in the NASS elections. Secondly this is coming way too late. Why did they have to wait till the end. The impact would be almost nil. It would have favoured Buhari more if it were Shekarau stepping down as that would help him get back the votes Shekarau would take in Kano. |
monkeyleg:Very unlikely, given the fact that DPP performed well only in Delta Central. |
And Blacksta doesn't have a voters card!! I'm just wondering how he intends to vote out PDP!! Those with voter's cards have spoken and have roundly rejected Buhari's CPC in the north!! Saturday would cap it up with a landslide for Jonathan. I think Ribadu will come second while Buhari would be third placed!! |
if this is true, then i may vote for Jonathan. I once witnessed a sight too gory to describe on that road
Same here. Early last year, we had to pass the bush travelling that road. In the bush there was a massive hold up. That tells you how bad it was. The horror on that road turned Benin and Warri Airports into the busiest airports in Nigeria after Lagos, PH and Abuja. I was amazed cruising through that road at top speed with no pot holes!! It was just heart warming! |
Demdem:That bolded part is the main point. Jonathan is succeeding where every other PDP government has failed. That is why Jonathan is so popular despite the fact that he is in a failed party. Vote Jonathan and you will experience a new Nigeria!! Demdem:Hehehe! Scared of the beast yeah?? |
Buhari- No Jonathan -Yes!!! |
^^^^^^ Thanks for your contribution. The road has soo improved. From Benin to the end of Edo state, I think Ofusu is totally done. The few Kilometres left are from the Ondo border to maybe 15 km after, but it has no potholes and they are working intensely!! Yeah, the real increased construction tempo started in July which was just a month after Jonathan took over. The road alone is enough for me to hand him over my votes!! |
Did they just resurface the existing two lane dual carriage way or they expanded it like expected? Is it still two lane on each side? The road linking the East to West deserves more than a mere re-surfacing, please tell me this is an expansion of that road. Or post pictures. That road deserves at least an 8 lane expansion or a 10 lane one like the Abuja lokoja expansion project, this is the road connecting the economic powerhouses of Nigeria. I refuse to applaud a mere re-surfacing.
Haba Kilode? You know better nooow!! Resurfacing is the first and quick fix solution. That road was a death trap. It needed a quick remedy. I agree that it needs a a wider road but that would take at least 5 years of construction to put an 8- 10 lane on that road. Lekki Epe which is just 50km and 4 lanes is taking more than forever, talkless of 8 lanes on a 400km (Benin-Lagos) road. The plan I think is to enter a PPP that would make an 8 lane a possibility. Asides, the plan for the Calabar- Lagos coastal road project and the Calabar Lagos Railway project which when on stream would make the Benin- Ore road less congested. These are some of the reasons why any reasonable person would thumbprint This Government is doing great things quitely at a very steady pace!! |
Pataki:Pataki, you are not doing your IQ any justice with the comment you've penned. The picture Kilode posted is an old picture. Mr man, if you juxtapose this picture here with what is on ground right now on Benin- Ore road, you would be soo impressed. I said I traveled the road this past week and I know what I saw. I could have snapped pictures but I was in motion and in so much of a hurry. Was in Benin at 4.30pm, got to toll gate around 7.30pm. I will get someone to snap pictures and post then here soon. That you hate President Jonathan doesn't in anyway take away from the fact that Benin Ore road has been fixed!!!! |
You did not take any pictures?
Was in motion, couldn't have taken pictures, but I so badly wanted to. |
^^^^^ ^^^^^ Big question for you: Why are you attributing all Jonathan's successes to Yar Adua?? Why wasn't Yar Adua able to complete any of these things I mentioned. Remember, Yar Adua stayed 3 years while Jonathan has been there for just 9 months. How come everything is just turning right under a Jonathan Government. Under Yar Adua, the Niger Delta was in turmoil and there was war!! How come Fuel scarcity stopped under 9 months of Jonathan instead of 3 Years of Yar Adua? How come it was Jonathan who appointed JEGA and released the funds for the conduct of the elections instead of Yar Adua?? Ok, I even forgot to mention the railways that are been revived. And yes, Benin Ore road- I traveeled on it this past week and I was beyond impressed!! So much is going on. I can't waste my vote for a leader that thinks probes is the solution to our problems!! GEJ is the Solution! Vote GEJ for progress! |
I travelled on Benin- Ore road this past week and I was beyond impressed. The reconstruction of the road is virtually complete (just a few kilometres left) and majority of the bad spots are gone. The whole road is been totally resurfaced and the work is so well done. I was beyond impressed at the work been done there!! It took me about 3 hrs exact from Benin to Lagos. That is a journey that 6 months ago would have taken you at least 10 hrs on a good day and maybe 2 days on a very bad day!! I have to give Jonathan credit for ensuring that this road that used to be a death trap is finally being fixed. Interestingly, Work on the Warri Port Harcourt road has accelerated and the quality is also very impressive. These two projects have shown that this country is moving forward under Joanthan's government. If you have traveled this road recently, please tell us your experience!! Thanks

He promised to tackle three things when he became President . 1) Electricity. 2) Electoral Reforms 3)Niger Delta. Now can you honestly say he hasn't worked excellently on these three areas ![]() Electricity The electrical power roadmap is the best the country has had since inception. It is similar to what was done in the Telecom sector. 330 companies, most of them world reknown have indicated interest in investing in the power sector. Electricity supply is at the highest it has ever been in the history of this nation. We are going to witness massive private sector investments in the power sector. Electoral Reforms In this area, the results have spoken for themselves. Jonathan has overseen the conduct of the freest and fairest election this Nation has ever witnessed. He achieved this by appointing an intergrity man, funding the INEC properly and providing adequate security for the conduct of the polls against all odds. Everybody agrees that Jonathan scored excellently on this count. Niger Delta When last did you hear of a burst pipeline in the Niger Delta?? Just before Jonathan took over, Nigerian oil production fell to almost one million barrels per day. Since the advent of GEJ, our production has risen to almost 2.5 million barrles which appears like the highest that has ever been produced in our history. By this, he has increased our revenues by over $80 million daily. Extras. In other areas, he stopped fuel scarcity. He evacautes Nigerians anytime there is a crises. The banking sector is back on its feet. He has jumpstarted the textile industry. He has given Nollywood a 200 million dollars lifeline that would see the industry climb from its local status to play on the international scene and draw in huge foreign exchange for Nigeria. All this under just 9 months and in an election year. Nigeria has progressed tremendously under GEJ. Just before he took over, this country was in serious turmoil from the Muttalab issue, to the Banking crises to the Yar Adua saga to the Kidnapping issues. All that has now been solved. Nigeria is moving forward. Vote GEJ for progress. Vote GEJ for progress. |
When Buhari wins only his ward in Katsina, he would be invited to GEJ's swearing in on May 29th, where he would be advised to try again in 2015, where he would lose again!! |
In 2019, the man would be 78!! That would be a record!! |
Your dream will be fulfilled on saturday!!! Sai GEJ!!! |
Fresh Air all the way!! This man has given us the most credible election we have seen in a while- for me, that is enough reason to vote for him!! Buhari was there for 20 months and refused to even talk about a roadmap to democracy!! Ribadu is good, but I'll wait for him in 2015. 2011 belongs to Jonathan. And thank God I have a voter's card! |
Buhari worked so hard and contributed to make this an interesting election. From obsurity, he built a party that attracted crowds. But it looks like those crowds have disappointed him. With all the Sai Buhari, they didn't even win one senatorial seat in Kano. PDP is trouncing them in the North West. It's so sad to see the hard work of a man just go down like that. The man must be in tears right. He will have so many questions to ask himself. Was he born just to keep losing elections? Is that his destiny?? Isn't intergrity enough to give you victory?? Its sad and I feel for him!! The man keeps loosing! GEJ will give him a trouncing on Saturday and from the look of things, he might even come third while Ribadu comes in second. Nairalanders, please send in your condolences!! The BB train has crashed!!! |
We told them(BB supporters) to forget the crowds that Elections are won in the rural areas and they used their sentimental reasonings to cast insulting aspersions on everyone that was not with them. Now the results have come in and they have run away! Once again, I repeat, Buhari doesn't stand a chance because he doesn't understand politics. Tinubu understands politics and that's what you see in the results of ACN. It will shock you that Buhari will come third place in the presidential elections!! |
From the results we are seeing with lots of ACN victories and CPC struggling in their strongholds, I support Ribadu. It would only be right for Buhari to step down for Ribadu!! |
efisher:I will be glad to see that!! It will; give a clearer picture of the national strength of the parties. Might be time consuming, but will be very worth the while! Would be well appreciated! |
ACN's showing might just make them the biggest party in Nigeria. These results would also improve on Ribadu's chances. The CPC on the order hand is not looking too good as they are winning in their strong holds by slim margins with the PDP and ACN sharing the rest of their votes!! |
INEC and the government appealed to newspapers and other publishers to desist from announcing election results before official results become available. Many publishers such as DailyTrust, Daily Times, TheNation, e.t.c. have tried to comply with the said request from INEC by stating clearly that their information is based on early results as opposed to final results. Osun Defender is now reporting that ACN LEADS IN SENATE (34 SEATS) CPC LEADS REPS (83 SEATS). They also reported earlier that David Mark lost while the results were still inconclusive at the time of their report. Do these publishers have access to INEC's data? I think not. I am very disappointed with this publication. We all should take a deep breadth and wait for INEC to make official announcements.
SECONDED!! |

@Poster You are missing the point. Nobody has ever suggested victory for PDP in any of the core north states. However, the emerging scenario would definitely be very worrisome for the CPC, because PDP is scoring 30- 40% of the votes in anywhere it loses in the Core North. If this trend presents itself in the presidential elections, we will be looking at a a situation where Buhari is third placed after Jonathan and Ribadu. ACN is looking like the heor in this election as they are posting good results across the country even in states where they weren't known to be popular. CPC on the other hand is struggling with PDP in its very strong holds. If you see the results for Kano and Borno, you would understand what I'm saying. |
violent:If we don't praise people for doing what they are supposed to do, when then should people be praised When they do what they aren't supposed to do Haba Violent, you are too smart to make these kind of comments!! For the first time in a while, votes are counting!! That's big!! While, I support the need to commend the corpers, everyother person that deserves commendation should be commended! The president, the INEC chairman, the security forces, the corpers, the voters and even losers like Bankole who were quick to accept defeat!! Ha, I would rather have a clueless leader in Jonathan, who does what he is supposed to do, despite his cluelessness, than have a knowledgeable leader who fails to do what he is supposed to do, despite his knowledge!! |
